The Lost DVD's are really worth the money. They load those things with special features. Especially Season 4. Because there were only 13 episodes, there's 2 discs worth of bonus features including that fake Oceanic 6 documentary.

superhippie2000

ok so i asked my mom to pick me up one season since they were so cheap (would have gone myself if i had money lol) and she got me all 4 season. :D i was shocked. and it was 4 for less then 100 bucks. talk about a good deal.

superhippie2000
06-22-2009, 02:01 PM
i watched bonus features on the season 1 set. pretty good they have great features. honestly if they did the original ideas for lost it would have sucked big time. half the cast was non existant and jack dead and kate the leader with a husband.

i like the jimmy kimmle thing. hurleys catch phrase "Hey ladies, Its Hurley Time" :rotfl: and the monster being cookie monster hahahaha.

wingster55

06-23-2009, 07:19 PM
ya but thats tooooo far away

the dvds have lots of bonus meterial bloopers deleted scenes behind the scenes interviews. has some ofthe best features then most tv shows and movies. havent seen the other season but thelists and stuff are pretty good.

i like the menu screens they are just looped footage from the show. like disc one of season 1 is in thejungle with jack laying down on the ground breathing.

i like the disc art on the season 2 set. i think the neon dharama hatches painting locke sees in the swan thats on one of the discs looks really cool. 3rd season discs not a fan of its thir faces but its like all green.

superhippie2000
06-27-2009, 02:03 PM
probably some time this week but usually it might be the day before unless they have the sale all week or something. just check the site randomly and maybe tommorows weekly ad will mention something.

just finished my season 1 dvd set.

wingster55
06-28-2009, 07:28 AM
Nice.
Best Buy doesn't have it on sale this week...maybe Target does.

superhippie2000
06-28-2009, 07:50 AM
ya id say just wait for holidays to see if its on sale. like 4th of july or labor day. those are most likely to have sales. unless a store decides to have some sort of special.

oh not sure if its still going on but think it might be just till the end of the month but barnes and noble had them for like 35 bucks each and all dvds are buy 2 get one free.

superhippie2000
06-28-2009, 02:46 PM
i started season 2 of lost and watched the bonus disc and it was pretty cool its like watching a dahmrma training video and i found an easter egg that showed how they made darhma oreo cookies lol. and the lost connections thing was pretty cool. i didnt know shannons dad was the one that died when jack saved sarah.

also just noticed that lockes girlfriend helen is the lady who played peg bundy

i guess thats true and poor hurley in his suit just standing there watching everyone lol.

i only have 2 discs to go for season 2. 4th of july will be the season 3 premiere lol. i forget what happened in season 3 lol.

Tabularasa
07-01-2009, 07:19 PM
The first half of season 3, besides a death, nothing happened, lol. Now if we're talking second half, that's another story.

superhippie2000
07-01-2009, 07:27 PM
ya i cant remember anything that happened in the first half lol. i remember them going to the tower and finding niaomi and all that but dont remember how they got to that point haha. the biggest thing is charlies death in the finale tho thats one thing that stand out from season 3. eh watching them agian will feel like new lol.

superhippie2000
07-03-2009, 03:47 PM
well finished my season 2 dvds. not sure if it was a mistake or wht but some menu screens on some discs are for episodes on other discs. like the episode menu screen for disc 6 has a scene from Dave but that episode was on disc 5. and disc 5 menu screens had the medical center but the medical center stuff was on disc 4. i really like the sets the with the menu screens and everything and a lot of the episodes are 45 minutes when normal shows tend to run at 40. so i like how lost is longer and also the finales instead of making it into 2 parts they have the whole 2 parts play together. wish they had a feature like supernatural dvds have where you can disable the recap stuff since recaps are pointless with dvds lol.

superhippie2000
07-03-2009, 08:34 PM
i saw a picture of the special edition darhma set for season 5 and it seems cool just the discs are in cardboard holders and not regular ones. the holders look like floppy discs and it comes with a VHS tape. id stick with the regular set.

Yeah, I'd stick with the regular set for season 5 since the Dharma edition really doesn't feature anything big except for pamphlets and a VHS tape (But most of us don't even have a VHS player anymore) and it'll cost over a hundred dollars.

ya and especially when we know whats in the future it makes more sense. like i watched the episode when eko died and the whole forgiveness thing makes much more sense since what we learned about ben asking smokey for forgiveness. its like oh that why his brother/smokey kept saying ask for forgiveness. if he just said yes please forgive me smokey would have let him live. sometimes i wonder why smokey kills some people right away and others he just surrounds and waits till they have a look of forgiveness in their eyes. guess some people just need a second chance or need to pick their own path :\ also knowing who the others are and darhma and watching things before hand you can tell what things are leading up too.

i still have a vhs player lol. but ya i agree its not worth it plus useing cardboard sleeves is cheap and messes up dvds and stuff. youd think they include a t shirt or something atleast. although i do wonder what would be on the video tape. chances are it something that will be an easter egg on the dvd anyway lol. and doesnt look to be a long tape based on the image so it will probably only be 15 minutes or something.

i finished my season 3 set today. really enjoyed it and the features. its weird how you go thru 24 episodes and it feels like it was only 6 or 7. it goes so fast and doesnt feel like a lot. other tv shows dont connect as well and feel a lot longer when watching. looking back on the premieres and finales i think season 3 probably had the worst premiere and finale of the series. although the season 3 finale with charlie dying was a huge thing. think rewatching the premiere and finale didnt feel the same as it did when it first aired on tv. i guess cause the flashforward ending was more expected this time around. cant wait to see what season 4 dvds are like.

Tabularasa
07-09-2009, 05:58 PM
Season 3 had the worst premire because of the way they structured the first part of season 3 (The first 6 episodes aired in October-November and the remaining 16 aired from March-May) so they structured the first 6 to be about Jack/Kate/Sawyer with the others and it wasn't interesting enough. The premire is also a let down since JJ came back to direct that episode.

But I think it has one of the best finales. In fact, I think all the seasons had great finales except season 4. That finale for me was the low point of the show. Michael's death was handled very badly and I still feel like moving the island was one of the biggest mistakes story wise. Not to mention that finale features one of the biggest story continuity errors in the series (Walt tells Hurley that Jeremy Benthem came to see him, but when we finally see that encounter in the season 5 episode, Locke doesn't mention to him or anyone else that his name is Jeremy Benthem)

wingster55
07-09-2009, 06:43 PM
Maybe Walt saw the newspaper ad of Locke's death?

The s4 finale had one of my favorite scenes with Sun seeing the freighter explode.
Yunjin nailed that brilliantly...against a greenscreen no less.

the opening to the season 3 premiere was cool when we saw the others see the plane crash but ya with no hurly and locke and just everyone in cages was kind of bleh. i just think the finale of them making the phone call and that was it was kind of bleh. nothing blowing up no big shifts or anything like that. agian i think knowing the outcome kind of made it like ok lets get something big but when we first saw it i was probably more on the edge of my seat.

i liked the end of season 4 with the island moving and stuff it was kind of like omg what happened where did everyone go yadda yadda. plus they had to do some sort of time travel thing to explain the flashes and connections and all that that desmond was having. i liked the flashback stuff but one or 2 episodes of flashing to points in time that didnt matter they didnt really need. im glad we got danielles back story and how we learned about the dharma people. maybe some of those other flashes would be explained later. and the flash to the statue it could have been more then a back view of it.

didnt locke tell sayid his name was jermey bentham? think he said i will be staying her under the name of jermey bentham. but ya dont think he told anyone else. unless it will be explained later and perhaps walt had some sort of dream about him being bentham. maybe we will get a walt flashback and explain how he knew and how he knew hurly was in the mental hospital and what not.

ya but the news paper didnt say locke so he would have had to know the name from somewhere unless they put his picture in it.

no matter what the series is great and even the "bad" episode are really good. and i like how the series is one long story arc.

Tabularasa

The main problem is that Jack reacts to Jeremy Benthem being dead and Locke never told him that was his name. It's possible that when he went to the hospital, they found ID and signed him in as Jeremy, but I doubt that Jack would remember that, nor would Kate know who Jeremy is when Jack shows her the obituary.

As for Walt seeing Hurley, Hurley was well known for being a part of the Oceanic 6. The media was all over them, so I'm sure there were news reports that one of them went into a mental hospital.

superhippie2000
07-10-2009, 06:32 AM
oh ya thats true they would have shown hurley on the news. and plus he was in the car chase so maybe walt saw that and went to his house looking for him and his parents told him he was at the hospital. lots of things it could of been.

maybe locke told everyone just they didnt bother showing it cause how many times do we need to hear him repeat im jermery rech me here. maybe just more of time saving. maybe the season 5 dvd will have deleted scenes with them finding out.

superhippie2000
07-10-2009, 01:57 PM
i started season 3 and i liked that 8:15 lost recap thing lol. would have been funnier if they got the micro machine guy to do it  plus its was more like 8:10 but whos counting lol.

superhippie2000

07-18-2009, 04:01 PM
watched the final disc for season 4. i liked that documentry thing to expose thelies of the oceanic 6 and those webisodes were good. i liked when jin got all made and acted like happy gilmore. why dont you go into the hole you stupid ball why do you hate me  and i liked how christian told vincent to wake up jack from the woods after the crash and also found it funny when arzt was saying not to go to the caves cause spiders will lay eggs in your head and youll die then changes his mind when he hears the monster coming and is like ummm ok so whos going to the caves lol. also thought it was cool to see how walt was killing birds while captured by the others nd how we learned why arzt was in sydney.

Special features on season 5 DVD. I think these are documentary types for Dharma:

SEMINAR: INSPIRATION AND EXPRESSION WITH JACK BENDER)
00:07:45:19 (A STATE OF NATURE: BUILDING A NEW SOCIETY)
00:08:42:01 (I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG: THE US VS. THEM MENTALITY)
00:03:15:03 (I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG - HOMEWORK)
00:04:00:22 (SEMINAR: NEW PHYSICS WITH JEREMY DAVIES)
00:09:39:17 (SELF DISCOVERY THROUGH FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS)
00:05:51:00 (JUNGLE SURVIVAL BASICS)
00:01:41:00 (EXAM - JUNGLE SURVIVAL BASICS)
00:06:06:15 (HIEROGLYPHICS AND THE MEDU NETJER)
00:05:54:18 (DECIPHERING HIEROGLYPHICS)
00:05:00:03 (IMPORTANT AND INFLUENTIAL THINKERS)
00:07:59:24 (THE PERCEPTION OF TIME)
00:09:03:11 (THE REALITIES OF TIME TRAVEL)
00:06:32:21 (A CLASH IN TIME)
00:06:37:16 (THE EFFECTS OF TIME TRAVEL)

All the features clock in at a total of 92 minutes. What's interesting is Jack Bender, the main director for the show, seems like he'll be somehow involved in these features. Not sure if he's just directing or if he'll acutally be acting in it since it says with Jack Bender and it looks like Jeremy Davies AKA Faraday will somehow be involved too. I'm guessing this will tie up some loose ends with Dharma since Carlton said they wouldn't be very much involved in season 6

thats awesome. thats one thing thats so great about dvd are the features. those the whole point of DVDs to begin with to hold extra stuff and give people a more enjoyable experience. thats why i hate when movies come out on single and 2 discs and it only has 2 discs so you pay extra for the bonus stuff when the single disc has like commentary and maybe bloopers. or dvds that have nothing on them and consider language selection a bonus feature  but ya they put a lot of effort into the dvds and the interactive stuff and what not. id be really intrested in what the last seasons set will be like. that will probably be crammed with stuff. i think it would be cool if the last season set had recap stuff from all the seasons. like a lostie recap, others recap, jacob and the isnald recap, and darhma recap.

i know sometimes they have dvd awards and stuff. has lost ever won for best dvd set?

got my dvd today. waiting for xmas to open but i did check and make sure the discs were good and all that. the best buy exclusive has both slip covers. it has the best buy version on top with a pocket in the back that had the bonus disc and the luggage tag. the luggage tags looks p5retty nice and the bonus disc seems to have a lot of features on it and why i dont know it was included on the set i have no idea cause it has maybe 6 features on it or something. the in side is the same as the cover art on websites and stuff but its not plastic its just carboard and it slides out from the side not the bottom like previous seasons and there is no see thru window on it. the inside is set up just like the other seasons with the fold out with the discs the same color and effect as the cover art. the episode list and bonus list is on the inner flap and i donthere is a booklet cause if there was i didnt get it. where the bookelt would be there is just advertisments.

I had traded in a bulk of my DVD's that I don't watch a few weeks ago to FYE and got a gift card for over a hundred dollars so I got mine for free. There's two versions for DVD and Blu-Ray. The standard ones and then there's the ultra expensive Dharma Initative Box. It's a big cardbord box that looks really worn. So I decided to use most of my gift card for that, the DVD version of the Dharma box was like 85 bucks. The box comes with a binded folder that has a Dharma Orientation VHS, yup, a VHS which I popped in and doesn't have anything amazing, just a standard orientation. It also has pamphlets about living on the island and working for Dharma, the 5 DVD's, a CD single from the band Geromnio Jackson with the song "Dharma Girl" and a envelope (With LaFleur's signature on it) inside is the treaty between Dharma and the others that maps out the rules of the truce (something season 5 didn't really get to go into) and has some pretty interesting information on it.

The bonus features this time are great as always. One feature follows Nestor Carbonell AKA Richard Alpert on the last day of filming for the finale and finally answers the question if he wears eye liner. Another feature has Michael Emerson going through the writer's office of the show and sitting down with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse in the writer's room talking about how they map out an episode of the show and you get to meet other writers and editors of the show. Another feature goes through how the writers and cast keep track of all the time travel going on this season. And there's the bloopers, deleted scenes, and interviews on location.

Overall, great set!

i watched the set over the last couple of days. pretty good. just wondering is there a way to make it so the menu screens dont get bombed when going thru the bonus features? i go to select something and boom the thing goes white lol. pretty cool feature but not sure i want it doing that all the time lol.

i liked that mysteries of the unknown thing they had. at first i thought it was something real since they made it old like and i was going to be like eh ill watch it later not knowing that it actually had to do something with the show until 5 minutes in they finally mention darhma lol. was pretty intresting and gives info on hanso and all that although i hope the last season we get some info as to why hanso started this and why he had that guy run it and what not. i did enjoy the thing where it seemed like eloise was working with darhma when she got off the island. perhaps her and widmore were working with darhma just to figure out a way back or something or to pass info a long to the others about what dharma was doing.

i found 1 easter egg. on the last disc on the main screen i forget which link and ifit was left or right so just try it on all of them but it makes a dot appear in the upper right corner in the O of seasOn and click it and you see a little interview with ana lucia and hurley. if its with the menu screen after it has been blown up and is white do the same thing to get the easter egg but this time the dot lights up in the O of lOst ( i think) in the link second to the bottom. think its like a day on the set of lost or something like that.

$95! Holy Wow!

I bought seasons 1 and 2 on blu-ray right after they came out without waiting for sales or anything and they were retailing in the $40s range - I think I did the 10 dollars off deal for buying both and paid about around $40 a piece. Those have an MSRP of $70. I wonder why this one is so much more.

I'm holding off on buying the complete collection until it comes down in price a bit and not buying any of the other seasons.

has bigger and clearer images and all the bonus feature info. said its going to have an extra 20 minutes or something of the series finale but im not sure if this is in addition to what was aired or if its just what we saw.

the complete series set looks neat.

Michael Emerson said that there will be an epilogue with Ben and Hurley and it'll be 12-14 minutes long. Do we know if that is part of those extra 20 minutes or are they separate features?

superhippie2000

i saw there is a 12 minute bonus feature showing what ben and hurley do after the finale. saw a pic of ben talking to dharma people. these i assume are dharma people in some hatch we never saw or something and they never knew what was going on. as if they are an extended 20 minutes i assume the extended 20 minutes are the ones that aired during the finale but wouldnt air during repeats. since the episode was 20 minutes longer then it would have been.

We're supposed to get a few answers out of the 12 minute Ben & Hurley show.. Probably the food drops seeing Ben is still with some ppl from Dharma..

im not completely sure but it seems with the best buy exclusive disc they may either have a steelbook cover or just a regular slip sleeve like they did last year. on the site it has 4 pre orders 2 for blu ray and 2 for regular. 1 of each is the normal cover and the other cover is like shiney silver.

Just watched it all.. I'd link it but don't want to get banned... Lots of questions mainly random loose ends were tied up nothing major, but as i speculated above we get the answer.. Not bad.. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a spin off version of these events for a season or 2..

Also, if your planning on getting season 6 just for this extra footage.... Save ur money it's on the net already. Just gotta know where to look.. And it aint worth buying a full set (or whatever) just for these 12 minutes..

finished watching it today. the finale still gives me the chills. and with no comercials or anything it really does feel like a movie and is about as long as one. think it was an hour and 45 minutes give or take.

liked the new man in charge mini episode. but why did they leave it with a cliffhanger? they need to make a lost mini series or something. i want to know whats up with walt and why he is needed and whats going on with the island.

I thought there was a featurette where Carlton/Damon were going to anwer some of the questions that they didn't have time for last season? I don't remember if that was exclusively a part of the complete series collection or part of both s6 and the series boxset. That was really the only question that I wanted answered that wasn't. Disappointing.

there was. it was called "The New Man In Charge". It answered a lot but not everything. It explained where the food supply came from, what the hurley bird was, why pregnant women die on the island, the polar bear in the cage and time traveling polar bear thing, and what happened to walt but the walt thing left on a cliffhanger.

the food supply was from these 2 dharma dudes who kept getting messages and cords to where to shoot of the food but they didnt know that dharma hasnt been around in 20 years but they kept working.

the hurley bird was a mutant hybred that for some reason kept saying hurley.

the polar bears had to perform the task in the cage and when they were smart enough they were used in time travel experiments and it tied in with the pregnant women where pregnant polar bears couldnt be tested cause the high electromagnetism would cause them to die.

and with walt, ben and hurley had to get him and it turns out walt was in the looney bin hurley and libby were at and he was playing connect 4. he was shocked to see ben and asked if ben was going to kidnap him agian and ben said he was sorry for doing that. he asked walt to come with him and gave him a candy bar and said that walt was really special and he had to come back to the island cause they needed his help and that micheal needed his help too. walt said that micheal was dead and ben said ya but even the dead need help. they leave and get into a dharma van where hurley is in and they say hi to each other and hurley tells walt that the island needs him back to do something. then they drive off and its over.

I knew about that. I was under the impression that Carlton/Damon themselves would be answering ?s. At about mid-season, I would swear I read that on EW or E!. Maybe I was dreaming. *shrugs* Thanks for the summary of the Ben/Hurley epilogue. I won't get to see it until the Complete Series is a little cheaper than $150.

----- Added 25 Minutes later -----

Ok, so I went back and looked for that article. The only one I could find was about the epilogue that was posted just before the finale. I swear there was one on EW from a month or two earlier but I couldn't find it. I think what happened was that I assumed that there were two different different articles were about two different featurettes instead of the same one. D'oh!

Walt and Hugo have many parallels.. Both in the looney bin, fathers left, great at games, in fact the only person to ever beat Hurley in a game was......... Walt!! :D I think Hurley picked up Walt to replace him as island leader.. Also to help his dad.. We know what the "job" on the island is... I don't think this is a time TPTB are leaving us on a cliff..

The Chang video was alright.... I agree i would love to see the transition of power from Hugo to Walt and Des getting home etc... Would be all for a mini series of Ben & Hurleys time..

As u said the finale felt like a movie... I say that to ppl all the time.. The ending we got was like using Star Trek Wrath of Khan (movie) as the TV series finale.. The connection from the entire show wasn't there.. JMO, tho...

superhippie2000
08-30-2010, 12:13 PM
ya i agree thats why hurley got him.

totally should make a mini series or maybe a bunch of 30 minute webisodes or something.

i remember maybe it was the 2nd or 3rd season they wanted to make a lost movie for theaters as the finale but think a bunch of the writters strike and what not ruined that. but im glad they basically did a made for tv movie. i just wonder what they would have done differently if it was on the big screen.

while i agree with the connection on the show no completely being answered and what not i did enjoy the series as a whole and really liked the finale looking at is as a full story. if they didnt ask so many questions to begin with then im sure more people would have enjoyed it. also know how it ended with the candidates and that everyone was alone and came together after death cause they were all "soul mates" makes 80 percent of the stuff they aired a bit pointless. like all the flashbacks of other characters. the first and second seasons and al that we were all like what happened to so and so we want their backstory and we got it but now looking back the series would have been fine without it. the candidate flashbacks were important cause it showed why they were chosen and who they were. even desmond from the start his whole story led to what he had to do in the end. i kind of wished charlie would have been a candidate if he didnt die.
