View Full Version : Thanks for Restoring Chloe's Memories

Although I'm very unclear on how and when Chloe got Clark's 'secret' memories back, I'm thrilled they've been restored!

Before I go on, I'd like to say thank you, PS3, for giving them back!

Now, I truly have no idea the what or the why, and feel that the audience deserves to know more of the details due to the events in Abyss. There was an entire epi devoted to Chloe and her memories with a beautiful FOS scene, and now they're just magically back?

After the response to those memories being taken, it should have been addressed somehow. I guess we're to assume those memories came back because of Brainiac taking over Chloe and absorbing knowledge from the FOS.

I'm confused.

IF that's the case, then what about Chloe's possible knowledge of Davis being Doomsday? IF she remembers things about Clark, shouldn't she be able to remember things about Davis/Doomsday?

Again, I'm still confused.

BTW, why didn't we get the chance to see Chloe react to things since Brainiac's invasion? Why didn't we get to see her tell Clark how she feels about his secret memories not being restored, especially in light of her telling Clark that was the best things that's happened to her?

Why don't we ever see Chloe react instead of act all the time? When will we get the REAL Chloe back. You remember that girl, don't you? The spunky, ambitious, curious, girl who used to be full of life and had a true purpose for it. Now we have a nearly emotionless shell of a person who wants to convince herself and everyone else (including the audience) just how great it is to be married to JO and keep a hand-me-down job from Lana.

PLEASE, along with the memories, give us REAL Chloe back (by that I personally do not HAVE to have DP/journalist Chloe)! Although I'm very grateful she's back in on the secret, I'm still upset not to have the same girl back SO many people have loved and adored all these years.

Yes, I know I am not speaking on the behalf of every Chloe fan (there's no way to do that). However, I do feel this is the mindset the majority of Chloe fans' share (those who name Chloe as their favorite).

Again, THANK YOU for rightfully restoring those memories. How about restoring REAL Chloe as well?

I said it in another topic.I believe she left them at the FOS along with Brainiac's ooze when Jor El retrieved her memories and she regained them when she reentered the FOS at the end of Bride.

I still can't grasp can't just wait for the arcs to finish off and then wait to see what happens. Chloe's memory is the example of it.

First of all .... thanks PS3 for getting them back, memories are part of our liveīs experiences, part of who we are ... so I am glad Chloe will be able to be who she really is ....although I am really looking forward to an explanation as how, why, when, what her memories are back ... and if Clark is going to be held responsible for that action, knowing this show, I am not getting my hopes too high on that one .....

Now that Chloe has memories back, I want to see her reaction to everything that happened for the last couples of months, I want to know when she was or she was not Chloe Sullivan, I want to see the effects of Brainiacīs infections .... and how this will shape her character .... above all Chimmy please go away .... soon ..ok????

As for now I will just enjoy the fact she got them back, and how Clark fought so hard to keep his best friend alive, I love that line from Clark .... Chloe Sullivan will not die ... or something like that ... it totally made me squeeeze :D:D:D

This was a great episode!

I agree. I'm glad to get Chloe's memories back. As for why and how they're back, I believe the explanation is quite simple. Here's what I've said elsewhere as pertaining to the purpose of Chloe losing her memories:

Honestly, I think it makes perfect sense. The way I see it is that the purpose of Chloe losing part of her memories was to get Braniac to the fortress so he could take over.

Braniac knew Clark would do something this stupid (like go to Jor-El, and have him restore only part of Chloe's memories), which is why he started taking Chloe's memories to begin with. It was all part of his plan. He wanted Clark to take his host to the fortress.

Clark was mistaken in thinking Jor-El had defeated Brainiac, which I don't understand why because Jor-El warned him that he could only transfer kryptonian code back into her memories. He didn't heal her. Braniac never left her completely. I believe Braniac was able to hide out in the part of her memories Clark didn't restore, so when Braniac was really defeated, that aspect of Chloe's memories were completely returned because they were never gone to begin with.

This is how I saw it from the beginning (Braniac never leaving Chloe), so I'm surprised why so many people are confused by this. I never thought Chloe was re-infected when she entered the fortress, only finally completely take over by Braniac. Braniac never left her, which is why Doomsday came for her in "Bride."

Anyway, I hope that makes sense. And, now that her memories are restored, I want Clark to fess up, and for the REAL Chloe Sullivan to return. No more Passive Chloe. I want her to get mad, and I want her to stand up for herself. End the Chimmy relationship and put some ambition back into her life. I also hope her healing powers are back now that Brainiac has left her.

I'm still confused as to what the point was of her losing them in the first place if it was going to end up that she always remembered his secret once she got them back.

I think there's more to it, guess I'll have to wait and see.

I believe that things like that happen all the time. They are meant to bring the viewer to an emotional high only for things to go back to normal eventually. It's like saying what was the point of Clark getting killed in Hidden.Or Clark getting killed in Odyssey.I think PS3 always had in mind to restore the memory of the secret.Let's face it.The way Smallville has been structured since Pariah,Chloe Sullivan is destined to know the secret. That could never change permanantly. They could however have a scene where she confronts Clark about his actions in Abyss. And on that note, they should address the killing of the meteor freak at the end of Identity.

I'm glad they're back. I don't even care how or why. However, Chloe doesn't know that Clark tried to erase them. If she ever finds out, she's going to be pissed!

3 episodes ago there was this burst of joy about Chloe losig her memory of Clark's secret. Thanking PS3 for the mind-rape.

How short-lived it was.

Here's my requests:

1. I want Chloe to know what Clark did and react to it. Not saying ''Oh. Okay I understand.''. I want a ''How dare you !!!'' reaction. AM and TW are great when they are arguing and have emotional scenes. I want that passionate and emotional Chloe back.

2. No more lines about Chloe comparing Clark to a God or being his cheerleader.

3. Get Chloe her own motivation to help Clark. What made her compelling is that she had a life and ambition outside of being Clark's sidekick.

Yet we are still to see the consequences of it. I know, it's hard, but this is no longer the typical AlMiles arc. Things will be brought in the near future.

I'm happy that Chloe's memories are restored. But I was disappointed with the way the mindwipe was "resolved". Clark should have told Chloe what he did. That was the perfect opportunity to come clean. They need to have an open and honest discussion about what happened and I don't want Chloe minimizing Clark's actions. She should be upset because she told him how much his secret, her memories and the impact it had on her life meant to her.

I was disappointed too (not that they were restored). It just seems they put such emotional emphasis on it in Abyss, but then just sweep-it-under-the-rug in Legion.

I STILL want to see Chloe react, instead of act. I want Clark to realize how Chloe truly should feel about it. I KNOW it was an extremely difficult thing for him to do, but I'd still like to see the reaction to it.

We really appreciate her memories back, now we kinda need justice you know?

We need Clark to stop being a coward and tell her what happened, cause not telling her is pretty much the same as taking her memories away. Didn't he learn with Lana and Reckoning?? Just asking.

Then we need Real Chloe back, our Reporter Chloe back. While I thank you that you keep thinking of her as a reporter (curiosity complex quote and stuff) I think we all want her back where she belongs.

Thanks again! :)

Yeah, that would be interesting and I hope they go that way of her slowly figuring out just how much she was manipulated.

That trying to erase that history was impossible and just plain wrong. This show constantly puts up threats to Chloe's identity then knocks them away. That's what they do.

Thanks!! :D

Agreed. The plot was interesting, but it propped up a lot of nonsense that needs to come crashing down. And soon. We need to see Chloe's real reaction to getting fired, we need to see that Chimmy fall apart, and we need to see the Chlark partnership firmly re-established. All that should take more than a couple of moments at the end of an episode, but it shouldn't be short changed or stalled, or what was the point in the first place.

Thank you for restoring Chloe's memories. Now let Clark get what's coming to him; he looked like a little pansy when she said why would I forget your secret? He didn't tell her he wiped her memory and that's just plain wrong. I think it'll be brought up again, Chlark will go through a minor falling out, and then all will be right again.

I remember the spoilers for Abyss and how Chloe was going to forget a few things. I knew immediately that Kryptonsite was referring to Clark's secret, as it was worded. It really got me down.

I am grateful that Chloe has her memory back, but I would still like Clark to confess what he did. I can see why right now might not be the best time.

I should rewatch, I really don't know. Could be.

My main sense was you couldn't undo a season's worth of build in a quick scene, so they'd need to come back to some of this stuff in more depth.

I rewatched. It is odd.

If she actually remembered Abyss why would she ask what would make her forget, unless she was kind of testing him? She would remember that Brainiac was editing that out. So I'm still not sure which it is. She knows, but she's waiting for him to tell her? We've seen this before. Or does she not know all she thinks?

I'm going to hope for both... More interesting that way.

Clark should have told Chloe what he did. That scene seemed to give me the same feeling when she had lost her memory. Chloe still was oblivous to Clark. The super close honest relationship they once had seems to be being tarnished. I think this will cause a rift in their relationship.

I hope once she does find out she does get mad and doesn't leave him off of the hook. Of course I want their friendship to be mended but after everything she has been through Chloe needs to stop letting clark get away with things like that.

well that scene proved one thing too me... he didn't think his actions were as righteous and good as he was pretending

if he truly believed what he did was good and right and moral then he would have had no qualms about saying 'oh no, i tryed to give you a normal life, i dont know why it didnt work'

he was ashamed of what he did, he knew she'd be mad, so he kept it too himself

Thank you, PS3 for taking away the perfect window for Chloe to return to her former career, by making her know the secret again and regress back to being Clark's sidekick.

Oliver said it best. She's not living her life. And it's on account of her obligation to Clark.

But thank you for at least showing that even with Brainiac gone she still loves the man she married. Guess those 'Chloiac responsible for Chimmy wedding' theories have been shot to hell.
