No Glasses, No Tights, No Flights - Are we sure we have the right guy? lol

I could give two sh*ts about the glasses or the tights but the no flights, come on already.

Even tptb are making fun at themselves. And it is becoming laughable.

Please ptb do something about it.

Laughable? Perhaps, but its starting to really irritate me. I don't care about the tights either, I've wanted him to learn to fly since season 4. 4 yrs later they still have excuses why he isn't doing it.
I get tired of the stupid lines and jokes about how he cant fly.
Chloe saying You really got on that one.
Kara's all like Up Up and away.
Everytime it seems like its mentioned to him he gets annoyed and defensive about.
He obviously knows he can because he did it as Kal-El so he knows his body is capable of it. He knows other Kryptonians can including his cousin.
Now the legion mentions it again! He just shrugs it off and runs away to find Chloe.
Then they bring it up again that maybe if she is killed is what triggers him to take flight. I was HOPING somehow she would temporarily die and he gets so angry he takes to the sky. No such luck.

It's becoming to the point I'm so irritated it annoys me to watch when they keep teasing us. BRING IT ON ALREADY or shut up about it.

It makes the show even more ridiculous and silly how he works at the DP, 22 or 23 yrs old now and still can't flippin fly. Just plain dumb.
I wish I had the power to make the decisions because TPTB have no clue.

I think your on to something there, I made mention of this in another thread, it wasn't there idea to have this rule it was the old producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. I think they agree that its time he took flight and this episode was to poke fun at this rule and also to let us all know that the moment we have all been waiting for since Season 4 is almost here.

Yes I agree it is past time for him to fly. With or without the cape and tights. Come on already!

Hey I have a question. When they said no glasses in that line. Were they talking about Clark Kent having glasses, or Superman having glasses?

He really needs to fly. I mean, what is wrong with him?? How about some floating? I can settle with that!

I think I've heard in some episode that he is afraid of heights, so Clark is a bit reluctant about the hole fly thing.
And in one episode he actully flys has clark, only over his bed, he doesn't move and was in his sleep, but still is flying.
And he until now didn't have the need to fly, when the time comes where for saving some1 he needs to fly, he will.

If that's not a dig at the past writers then I don't know what is!

Basically saying "wtf were you doing with all these past seasons, Clark got no where...we'll clean it all up for the loyal viewers!"

Loving this season.

If I'd been Clark and I heard Garth say, "No glasses, no tights, no flight..." I would have stopped and asked, "No tights? In the future and am I a crossdresser?"

Clark was floating above his bed in Season 1 Episode 1. Its 8 years later. Way past time folks.

It IS frustrating- I feel like he's developmentally challenged, and that's hard to accept in a future Superman.

its ridiculous he can't fly there is no way he wouldnt of learned by now
every other kryptonian flies off the ship basically
he sort of flies anyway (superjumps like 5 miles away/ falling with style etc)

I wish he would learn to fly too.

If it truly was forshadowing in this episode, I wonder if it's Chloe's death that propels Clark to fly?

Surely the mentioning of tights tells us that his outfit won't be made of leather, rather spandex?

Yah, I guess they kind of forced themselves to actually stick with the spandex costume.

They could still do a leather proto-type though.

well with the tights I can understand, seeing as how once he dons those then the show is over. And with the tights, naturally comes in the glasses, so not having those yet I can also understand.

But no flights? Yikes...you know I knew that LL would get a reaction towards seeing that his supposed idol couldn't fly yet.lol

I have a fear of being high just like Clark! The character and I have alot in common lol. Whenever I get up really high, I feel my body start to shake and other stuff. Maybe Clark is like me and doesn't like that feeling of being up high and wishing, "I wanna get down now! I wanna get down!" If that's the case then I feel for him, but if it's not, then I think he needs to talk to a Shrink or something cuz it sounds like he has some real denial problems w/flying. And hopefully the shrink would set CK straight!

I can understand that if you CAN be killed by normal means. Being afraid of heights only makes sense if you have something to fear from it... not to mention wheres the fear in the bridge scenes? jumping from city tower to tower? jumping to an ice shelf when he proposes to lana?

I think fear of heights is out now. He's experience death already. Also I dont like that whole embracing the kryptonian heritage. It shouldnt matter.

I know this is probably going to offend people, but I've got to say it anyway. I see his not being able to fly as a form of impotency. A sort of mental ED and I don't mean Erica. LOL! He has been so hung up on a future with Lana that anything that threatens that is ignored. Flying, above any of his other powers, separates him from being a human. I think that until he truly, in his heart, believes that Lana is not "the one" he will not fly (aka rise high). I'm hoping that after the next 3 "Lana" episodes he will send off for some Kryptonian "Enzyte" and follow "Bob's" BIG example and learn to touch the sky. *snerks*

I can think of several reasons why Clark can't yet fly.
- Fear of heights - it isn't a rational response, knowing you can't get hurt doesn't help at all. I have this dreadful fear of stairs that I can see through. Knowing that I'm way too chunky to fit through the holes doesn't stop me from freezing up
- Fear / mistrust of his alien nature
- Worry about attracting too much attention
- Given Jor-El's ability to remove Clark's powers at will, maybe he's done something to repress the ability until Clark passes another one of his godawful tests.
- Perhaps all the exposure to kryptonite during his adolescence has delayed Clark's abilities. In this case, I'd like to think he'll ultimately be stronger because of it.
- Maybe flight is linked to some rite of passage or training on Krypton (specifically thinking of Torquasm Rao or something like that). So if its something every Kryptonian learns during their adolescence, it explains why all the other Kryptonians can fly and Clark can't.

Anyways, I don't mind at all that Clark doesn't fly on the show. Its an expensive and time consuming effect for something that he really doesn't need yet since he can just super speed where he wants to go. I just wish the show would identify a reason and put the issue to rest.

But when jumping he can se where he is gonna land, flying is a totally diferent thing he is controlling himself in the middle of the air . but yeah if he falls he doesn't die, but that kind of fear his psychological, a phobia.

I don't know how else I can post this.
The no tights/no flights edit in season 1 made sense. That he still can't fly in season 8 is ridiculous when every other Kryptonian, Zoner and the Martian Manhunter can and does fly.
To say that when he learns to fly that he's Superman also makes no sense.
Clark Kent develops all his "Abilities" and then becomes Superman.
To keep him on the ground now just makes him a BDA.
Are they now making fun of themselves and also making the Show laughable?
He does not have to fly every episode, He certainly does not use all his other abilites every episode. Just let him fly when the need arises even if it's off camera.
