I Was really excited when he said that because it's like Superman's number one rule. It just made me feel like Clark is finally becoming Superman. After all this time....

It woulda been funny as hell if while Chloe was laying on the table, she sudenly wakes up and Brainiac began speaking through her in a demonic voice and was like "And tonight you're gonna break your one rule!" lol

Clark has never thought that kill someone was an option. Lana did. Season 7. She wanted to kill Lex. So it was really bad writing to have Clark question this and have Lana be so firm about not killing. Major role reversal. It doesn't make sense with either characters.
Bring Lana back. Clark regresses. Seriously for Clark to even think for a minute that the answer was to kill Chloe was beyond moronic. *shakes head*
But wait, thank god Lana "the voice of reason" Lang was there to save the day and show Clark the error of his way. How ever could he have figured this out without her? </sarcasm>

Oh, but who cares. As long as people get their little Clana. Screw Superman.
Sigh.

But he didn't have to. Clark always finds a way out. :p

Clark needs to kill a couple people then maybe most of his problems would go away.

Rule 1, don't kill. Next, he can learn to brush his own teeth and he'll be closer to Superman than he was last year. What is this? School of Small Tots? He's an adult, and he's giving elementary advice like this to beings from the 31st century? They all know not to pollute the planet with gas, yet they don't know the value of human life?
I'm sorry, I don't buy it. I'm down on this episode big time.

Okay, for one the stakes here were pretty high, but maybe Clark had affected Lana and Lana respected Clark for always being so resolute in the past that she had to remind him of it. Jesus just because Lana is in an episode doesn't guarantee it's bad. I swear the only things more annoying than Clana are the Clana haters.

I don't have a problem with Clana, its just not necessary anymore. Everytime they break up...than made up. I mean at least with Chloe though there is some love there, we both know that they kept it a platonic friendship, why can't Lana be the same, it should have been the same.

I found Clark magic in this epi but you are completely right, it is a huge mistake from the writers. But I know "our" Clark will never think a minute of killing someone, I just say to myself "it is for the show, for Lana" lol;)

Clark will never kill. That's one thing that's so great about Smallville. There are many others though. :D

I agree... I was a little disappointed Lana had to point out to him to save Chloe. Something a few weeks ago Clark didn't need to have told to him.

Clark started off in the Pilot with this kind of attitude... it's not progress towards Superman, it's just a fundamental principal he has grown up believing
I'm sorry, i could see it was supposed to excite me and have me cheering, but it just felt like 'yeah, knew that, known it for the last 8 years!'

I liked it. I don't think "don't kill" was just a given in this situation. It was one woman's life vs. the whole world. Brainiac was actively draining the earth and all it's inhabitants of knowledge. Keeping the "don't kill" rule is a very tough choice in this situation.
Also I didn't get the impression that this was something new Clark was learning. I felt that this situation was challenging his long held ideal of never killing a human no matter what.

Well he had the same situation with Lex at the end of season 5...

True. There's a lot of "Zod" echoing going on in "Legion." LOL! I think with Lex it showed Clark's heroism even more. Clark has a huge interest in not wanting to kill his best friend. But not killing his worst enemy even though it could save the world? Very heroic (or stupid depending on the outcome LOL!).
I still think "Legion" presented Clark and maybe most importantly, the Legion with a challenge. Here we see Clark persuading other heroes to consider adopting his rule for themselves; that's new.

He technically killed Brainiac in that episode...though if its machines its okay even if they are sentient.

Clark would've killed Lionel in Phantom if MM didn't stop him. Both Clark and Lana at some point thought killing was an option.
So your argument about regression is BS.
