View Full Version : Fortress of Solitude - it's banged up for sure now! (FOS General Discussion)

What do you think will happen to the Fortress of Solitude?

First, is it really drained? Did Brainiac take out all its knowledge? Did the FOS get its knowledge back when Brainiac was exorcised from Chloe?

Is the Jor-El Artificial Intelligence "dead"?

And then, at the end, Doomsday was hunkering down in a mass of shattered Kryptonian crystals. That can't be too good for the resale value.

Anybody think that the FOS might come back on-line?

I'm hoping it will...I'm surprised Clark didn't go up there and check things out..

He's not dead. Jor El will come back to help Clark again. Just wait and see. :)

If ever Brainiac returns to SV yet again, it'll be through the Fortress. It was still black and Brainiac-y after Chloe was repossessed. <-- Heh.

If Brainiac was compressed into that cool ball and taken into the 31st century does that mean that Jor El is now history? Brainiac said through Chloe that she drained all of the information out of the FOS and since Jor El was basically a computer program wouldn't that mean that the FOS and Jor El are gone for good? I hope not. It may be a sign however that they are wrapping things up this season and there is no season 9.

At the end, where we see Doomsday, it appear that the fortress is still dark and corrupted. Does this mean Brainiac is still there? Is it because of Doomsday? Will Jor- El be back?

the FoS needs to come back, the point it, is so idiot Clark that he preferred to fix to the barn and not his Fos?

Chloeiac was draining the FOS of all of it's information. As she touched a crystal and absorbed the data the crystal went dark. They CK lets them take the data and Jor El wrapped in the ball to the 31st Century. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I only wish they had put the barn into that ball and taken it to the 31st century.

I think Brainiac was only able to download information from the fortress, not Jor-el. Think of Jor-el and Brainiac as two different super-powered computers (I think that's the only way to avoid plot-holes in this episode)

Excellent point!!! I think his main concern after Chloe should have been the fortress, given he had a heart-to-heart with Jor-el not too long ago and Clark did see that the fortress was infected in this episode.

I think, Braniac is not in the FOS more, Doomday could be freed because braniac has shupdown and DD could be leave the Cristal...

Yes, the FoS does look dark, damaged and depleted, but I remember hearing Rokk respond positively to Clark when the FoS was mentioned. Rokk/Cosmic Boy was aware of the FoS's existence. He seemed to have confidence that help, in fact, could be sought after there. So, I take it to mean that the FoS may still be operational for some time in the future. I found his comment encouraging enough so that the current condition of the FoS didn't worry me so much.

So I'm sure in our excitement we all overlooked this, but, Brainiac is still alive.

Remember the end of Abyss? Hello? The Fortress is still infected. Nobody fixed it. Nobody pulled Brainiac out of it. At the end of Legion, when Doomsday escapes from his chrysalis, the black spires are still protruding from the ground.

The sad thing is, I don't think the writers remember, since it sounds like the Fortress doesn't appear again for a while. So, once again:

BRAINIAC HAS CONTROL OF THE FORTRESS!

Actually, from what was shown in this episode, the black spires seem to signify a lack of the power/knowledge they once had. After all, we saw chloe/brainiac drain it, thus we are left to assume that the fortress is still drained and will have to be restored somehow at a later date. And you could say that brainiac was infecting the spire, but he was talking about draining or absorbing all knowledge at the moments he was doing it. So, take what you will from that.

I think they did it on purpose because Braniac always finds a way to return.

They have to fix it and maybe with next week's return of MM it might be the perfect time.

brainiac went back into chloe. i think the blackness just showed it was dead. seriously clark needs to get the shloman sheild cause people keep getting into the fortress and whoever isnt clark tends to make the fortress die :\

without reopening the ChloeI.A.C and the Fortress debate, it only makes sense to me if Brainiac is still in the Fortress, cause Brainy can't be destroyed before Clark is even Superman that would be ludicrous

I really have no idea if the Fortress is back, along with Jor-el. It's kinds weird that Clark never checked to make sure too. The very last scene was in the FOS with Dooms but the lighting looked as if it was still infected.
What do you think?

I think its probably still infected, and will likely be restored fully once Clark defeats Doomsday. just a fan's guess, though.

yea it looked like it was still infected and if they ever do get marsters to return they can always say another peice of him survived in the fos. I do hope it goes back to normal in a few episodes.

I don't know. The FOS has been messed up with so many times, I don't even know anymore. If there's one aspect I've hated about this whole thing is how everybody has been to the freaking FOS. A place that was supposed to be Clark's safe heaven has turned into this background scenario for all kinds of stuff. Everybody has been there like it's McDonalds, and Clark doesn't seem all that interested in restoring it or preserve his father's gift. That bugs me for some reason.

A MAN OF REASON!

This one is a no brainer. The FOS will be back up and running at the most by the 13th episode. This is where Clark gets his training/knowledge from. The FOS is just as irreplaceable as the "S" insignia on Superman's suit. Trust me on this one..........

Then the folks in the 31st century better make sure that there's none of Brainiac remaining when they return the data. I wish that they had sent the barn with Brainiac.
