I think AM is a great actress, but her Brainiac was a little "too sexy" at times to me. For the most part she did not remind me of James Marsters' Brainiac. The only time she did was when she grabbed Davis and told him "I am a brain interactive construct." I thought she pretty much nailed that.

The subplot about Braniac going to the Daily Planet because he wants more knowledge was silly, but I guess they needed something for Braniac to do once Doomsday was put away in his little nest. What annoyed me was that Clark did not follow up with the FOS. Once Braniac was destroyed, he naturally would have went back to the FOS.

I actually agree.
I think AM did an awesome job....but it wasnt spectacular or anything.
Dont get me wrong, I would have crashed and burned horribly if it was me. I just think maybe she was trying too hard or something...it just came off as zombie-ish. Not really Brainiac.

BUT, James left some big shoes to fill....so I think she did an amazing job with what she was given. I imagine it's hard to try and perfect a character that someone else has already perfected. Maybe if we'd never heard of Brainiac or seen him before now.....then yes, she would have nailied it.

All in all...I liked it, and give Allison props. But it was no James. :)

Where else would he go, though? The Kent farm? Isis? Ollie's plane? That one street that apparently is Metropolis? I blame the budget more than the writer. Sad lack of sets on this show.

I also liked her rather choppy movements. Marsters moved more fluidly as Brainiac (in purer form), but the way she moved, for me, sort of highlighted that her body was doing things it wasn't used to. I particularly liked the way she shot up to sit during the exorcism. Creeeepy stuff.

I don't think it's fair or even necessary to compare JM and AM as being Brainiac. They're two separate people who portrayed him two separate ways. Since he is basically a machine, wouldn't he take on different characteristics any time he used some sort of host?

I think she did a great job, just the right amount of everything! She's not JM so I didn't expect her to be.

Gosh, I thought it was just me. :lol: I'm not going to lie, I think she's sexy when she blinks. But I couldn't help thinking Brainiac was getting hotter. (Of course, I thought the same thing back in Arctic. :lol:)

Anyway, I thought she was brilliant. She did an amazing job emulating James Marsters' performance. I don't really think the criticism is legitimate. Brainiac is a shape-shifter, and (as we saw in Oracle, Persona, and Arctic) a master impersonator. His "true" form is really just a monotone program/personality. Taking on the physiology of a woman would require an entirely different performance. For AM to even come close to Marsters' mannerisms and speech pattern would have been sufficient for those reasons. But she was fantastic-- much closer to Marsters than even I realized. But when you see Chloe, we sort of lose awareness of the similarities.
