Hey guys! I wanted to start this thread for all the comic fans to post the multiple references and nods to the Superman universe in tonight's episode.

The writers and Geoff Johns promised long time fans the show would be filled with fun stuff we would recognize from the comics!

"And here we GO!"

Geoff Johns is one of my top favourite writers in comics (and I do read a lot of them, believe me). I hope I'm not disappointed by his work on screen.

This thread is a good idea because I'm sure I'll miss stuff that others of you will notice.

Johns has a interview on newsarama...can't post link here due to the "rules"...but he said there will be lots and lots and lots of nods to the DC comic universe...

I wonder if they'll be a few hidden Superman logos like there were in "Bloodline" and "Abyss"...

I'm in the same boat as WickedJenn. I don't know everything there is as far as comics, but I've learned a lot since being a member here. My knowledge I'm afraid is limited to Superman movies and Smallville! I love when there are people here who can elaborate on the villians in the comics! I'll be checking back for my next lesson!

Might be Legion easter eggs that I mostly won't get (only know the basics about them, the cartoon and stuff) but I'm definitely hoping for some Superman foreshadowing.

I expect some references to the Legion's home planets, maybe a mention of another Legionnaire or two still in the future, and maybe even someone telling Garth that he's acting like a "Sub" (one of the "Legion of Subtitute Heroes.")

This stuff may even be in preview clips - I prefer not to watch them as I'd rather wait for the episode itself. I think it'll be so much fun though.

we know for sure that Polar Boy's home planet of Tharr is mentioned from GJ himself. Levitz Museum named after legendary legion writer Paul Levitz (who is now president of DC Comics and can be seen on the Smallville Season 7 DVD talking about Supergirl). I hope that we see SOMETHING set it the 30th century even if its just a legion hallway and a mention of Brainiac 5 and Matter Eater Lad

yeah, i'm most excited to hear a mention of Brainy......and the "Subs"...hadn't realy thought about them, but there are soooooooo many wannabe members of the Legion that they literaly have a waiting list for superheros to join...mentioning that fact to Clark would be sweeeeeeet!

It would be interesting if after Clark beats Brainiac, the Legion allude to the fact that he will still have multiple encounters with him later on.

yes i don't know much about the legion comics just a basic idea and from the tv thats was on the WB for kids.. but i'm hoping for a lot of things that our site moderator is hoping for.. mentions of the other legionaries... with out give anything away from spoilers or trailers. i can't do this sorry

***spoiler warning if u read skip down to the end

when they defeat the persuaders in the trailer i've seen online he had a ring on himself so im hoping when they take it back from him they mention maybe who it belonged to.

***possible spoiler over***

also i see lighting lad being a lil to much of a hot head and im pretty sure that he might slip away with the for telling of the future.. but honestly i don't think the word SUPERMAN will ever be mentioned.
i do hope that they mention Brainiac 5 due to the fact that they help clark out with chloiac

the line 'get the magnet out of your butt' is from 'Superman and the legion of superheroes' by Geoff Johns himself published last year

'GRIFE!' the legendary legion profanity. Need to swear use grife :p

----- Added 32 Minutes later -----

brainiac 5!!- B5 is organic in the comics so I expect him to go through something like he did in the cartoon in offscreenville. He's also green (like in my avatar) B5 also likes to smooch supergirl (like in my avatar)
LL's sister Ayla Ranzz AKA Lightning Lass/Light Lass
He signs the football the way supergirl signed the S Sheild in Supergirl and the legion of super-heroes and how superman gave barry allen his S autograph on a piece of rubble
LONG LIVE THE LEGION
'Sprock'- another profanity LL kisses his mother with that mouth!

Ok I've found what I think is the last reference. The Time Institute, where time travel is monitered. The universe's second to last green lantern Rond Vidar works there. He is an honorary legionnaire. The time institute also plays a big part in the Booster Gold comics, a hero that travels in time solving crimes.

I'd LOVE to see Booster Gold on SV.

Speaking of the sub heroes there was also the Legion reserves -Jimmy Olsen was Elastic Lad- Lana was Insect Queen-Persuader part of the Fatal Five-would have been nice to hear references to those.

I'd LOVE to see Booster Gold on SV.

I adored his episode of JLU. It would contrast with clark so much. Clark shies away and Booster wants fame and recognition. I love that in the first episode of the legion cartoon he has a cameo as the janitor of the superman museum! In the comic he has B5's flight ring he stole. I wonder if the legion considers him a legionnaire now:lol:

The Brainiac 5 mention was awesome...the Legion mentioned Lana, Lois and Jimmy were legendary as well...wow I'm gonna have to watch this again! I totally geeked out...awesome episode!
