I don't think I'll miss her in Legion by getting the chance to see others things happening and other peoples storylines dveloping.

But I think the following episode I will begin to miss her. More than on eepisode without her would be a bit much.:)

I'm so excited about the Legion (one of my fave comic books!), that I forgot Lois won't be in it, but yeah definitely will miss her! She adds so much to the series, it will be hard to wait for her next appearance. I just LOVE this show!!! Really missed it these past months. Anyone else watch the reruns? I did, even though I had recorded all so far.

Of course I'll miss Lois! I love her! I expect that, in the end, it will be an episode that would have been problematic to have Lois in because she doesn't know Clark's secret and, thus, would not have had a significant role in the plot for the episode. But I'll miss her. I've missed her for a while. I expect to find that she wouldn't have really worked in the premise of this episode at this time, but I'll still miss her. she's one of my favorite characters.

I admit, I always have to laugh when Lois fans get jumped on for being sad when Lois isn't going to be in an episode. It's only natural to want to see your favorite - or one of your favorite - characters as much as possible! Is there anyone out there who says, "_____ is my favorite character, but I wish they weren't on the show all that much. I really hope he/she isn't in the next few episodes, because that would be great. But he/she is my favorite character or at least in the top two!"

I can't believe Lois isn't back till Infamous which is airing in March and then she's not even in the epi. after that, Turbulence. But then Hex, baby!!

Clark better miss Lois. But did you notice Legion mentioned the possibility of Clark having Chloe change her name. I hope they don't kill our Lois and have Chloe assume her identity. The spoilers for Hex make me nervous about switiching Lis and Chlois. Legend did not seem to know who "Chloe Sulliven" was. Hopefully it's because she is now "Chloe Sullivan." I love the Chloe character, just not with Clark romantically. Erica is making a great Lios, especially with the new writers, she is starting to blossom.

I missed Lois, Oliver, and Jimmy. If it wasn't for the Legion being awesome, this episode would have sucked. I am supposed to believe that not only Lois wasn't looking for her cousin but Oliver wasn't a part of finding her either? His satellites just stopped working and looking for Chloe after the credits fell on Bride? >.<

I didn't miss Lois until I saw tonight's episode. Something was just missing. It was a great episode but it was just weird for Clark to almost make out with her and then 12 hours later, not even acknowledge her existence. It was all Clana. I guess if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.

I can see the missing scene: Lois steams because the arrival of the Legion means waiting to find Chloe. The Leaguers are checking out Lois to figure out what it is that Kal El sees in her. Clark stammers. It's hilarious!

harryandginnyfanatic

The orign of the Legion has always been about them coming back when Clark was younger and before Lois.

So by not having Lois in the episode they stayed true to the original material.

eas
01-15-2009, 08:03 PM
^ While that's true, it also would have made sense for Lois to be around during this episode, because she is here in Smallville. At this stage, Clark has met her, knows her, and almost kissed her about an hour before LOSH arrived.

In the other versions, he hadn't met her yet. In this version, she's one of his best friends.

It could have worked... SG's power includes the ability to mind-wipe. Therefore, she could have had a convo with Lois and then mine-wiped her. They just chose not to go down that route, because they had KK for this episode.

To answer the question: yes, I missed her. She's one of the best things about SV & when she's not the there, the episode is missing something important.

Speaking of missing Lois, I have a question. Did Legion mention her? I kept getting interrupted by my kids so there are parts I missed. That made me miss Lois even more:mad: I need to put in a request for Clois fan fic stories to tide me over until March.

I missed Lois, but I can see why she wasn't there.

It bugs me that Clark went from being about to kiss Lois and the looks they shared before Chloe's wedding to suddenly being all about Lana for the forty-eleventh time, but I sort of braced myself for it.

I think Lois being there usually adds some comic relief and she seems to bring out the best in Clark in a lot of cases. She brings out the MAN, instead of the boy who still wishes he could hang out on a farm with his high school crush.

But I think Clark definitely acted more commanding and more like the man that will become super man, even if I could have done without the mooning over Lana in this episode.

So, yes, I missed Lois, but I don't think her absence ruined the episode.

They said that they've heard of "Lois Lane, Lana Lang, and even Jimmy Olsen, but no Chloe Sullivan."

But then later, they had that line about Chloe maybe going by a different name, so that's most likely making the Chloisers very happy.

Just because I can't help myself...Lois only doesn't fit in an episode because of the way they write it. Of course she isn't going to fit in an episode they write knowing they can't have her in it. She would fit in every episode if they'd finally break down and pay her to do so.

No kidding. What was up with the sexy smile directed at Lana?:mad: The whole Clana thing is overdone. However, I don't want Lana killed (at least not yet) until Clark is sure that he is over her. Nope. Don't get me wrong, I love Lois's character, but the Clois-in-my-face thing was getting on my nerves. Plus, there was enough going on that I didn't notice her absence.

As much as I love Clois, I have to say that the best moments for me are the subtle ones, not the moments when Maxima, Jimmy, some random fortune-teller lady, etc, make a point to tell us that "Lois and Clark are meant to be together!!"

I have to say that I think the writers have missed a step or two in establishing the Clois relationship because of either the restrictions that came from the movie department and then just the fact that they know it's endgame, and so they don't think it's worth spending time developing it in a natural way.

On the other hand, they've spent a lot of time establishing Chloe and Clark's friendship (and sometimes romantic pairing) and so I can absolutely see why it's frustrating for you and other Chlarkers to watch the anvils.

As a Cloiser myself, I hope to see better development on Lois' return because both characters deserve a well-developed romance. (now, who that should be with is in the eye of the shipper :))

I really don't want to see Lana die. I don't want her to be a martyr, and I don't want her to be a victim YET AGAIN. And I don't want to see Clark mourn her.

Like you, I want to see Clark be the one to end it, and then Lana can just go away and seek her amazingly awesome destiny (where she sacrifices SO MUCH for Clark!!!) in offscreenville where it belongs.

Yeah, your right about the martyr thing. Especially if she died when Clark was with Lois. That would be a disaster. Anyway I agree that I enjoy the subtle Clois and the more traditional romantic stuff. I am not in a hurry for them to necessarily be married with children. I would just like more of the subtle traditional romance where you realize you were holding your breath the entire time you were watching. ...Sigh

I would just like more of the subtle traditional romance where you realize you were holding your breath the entire time you were watching. ...Sigh
Sorry my quotes don't seem to be working. I am still trying to figure out how to navigate this site.

That's okay! It took me some time to figure out the site as well. PM me if you need help with anything, but for quotes you can just hit 'quote' or the 'multi-quote' icon next to 'quote' if you're quoting multiple posts.

Welcome to K-site by the way!

And that's exactly what I want to see-those little moments where they slowly SHOW the budding relationship. Yes, I know it's endgame, but I want to see more of the how and why of it all.

Now, there have been some excellent Clois moments this season in my opinion as well. I just hate the anvils, and I want to see them develop it at a natural pace. But I think they were written into a corner with 7 years of the focus so much on Clana and also so much on the Chlark friendship (and sometime romantic attraction in certain episodes) and I think they didn't know how to do subtle development without breaking the restrictions that were in place for the first few seasons they had ED on.

*sigh*

We'll see where they go from here.

Didn't even notice she was gone; IMO the episodes she misses are the episodes that are the better ones. Because of all the Clois non-development anvils being shoved down our throat every time she makes an appearance. This episode was badass; she wouldn't have had a place in it, that's why she wasn't.

I think the real question is, did people miss the Clois?

I think what is happening is that people are associating the Clois relationship with Lois' character as a whole. I still don't like Lois Lane individually on the show, but I love the growing chemistry she has had with Clark this season. When you put Lois in a scene with Clark, she becomes likeable. However, when you take Clark out of the equation, she has a tendency to become more obnoxious..LOL

Yes we missed Clois!! Your point is well taken about Lois sans Clark. I blame that on the writerss. I like the actress bout the SM powers have not made the most of her potential. For example in the earlier Lois seasons she looked different. It was her hair. I saw an interview where she talked about being forced to lighten her hair for the role. Why would they make her do that? She was not comfortable with that, and Lois has been historically brunette anyway. Their vision of Lois is not my vision. (not that my vision matters to anyone but me). Some things on SM bother me, like her turning to alchohol when she gets upset, and ruining Chloie's engagement party, and the obnoxious part. This is the first universe I seen where Lois would get drunk and make a fool of herself like that. I just try to ignore it and get what I can from the SM Clois. I kind of use it as a platform and then make up my own stories in my head. That's why I so appreciate the fan fic authors, because I am not limited to the SM interpretation of Clois. I like the Clois, not because of Smallville, but for some reason, I have always been drawn to it since I was a little girl.

I didn't miss Lois until I saw tonight's episode. Something was just missing. It was a great episode but it was just weird for Clark to almost make out with her and then 12 hours later, not even acknowledge her existence. It was all Clana. I guess if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.

That works both ways. Lana left so that's why he started noticing Lois. If Lana stuck around....Clark would be like, Lois who?

I always miss Lois when she's gone so I always try to imagine what she is doing when she's absent; for example, I can picture her terrorizing the Star City nurses with Jimmy protesting that he's on the mend.

While this may not necessarily have been a time or place for Lois, I'm sure the writers could have found something for her to do and I was heartily disappointed in the two references we got. At least we got them, but Lois Lane is worth a lot more than just Garth saying rotely and rather unemotionally, "we know Lois Lane" and then follows her name right after with Lana's. Chloe's was a little better, and while I would have liked hearing Clark say Lois' name, I'm just as glad that Chloe did. Yay for Chlo-Lo!

However, it looks like I might be eating cold rocky road until March. And when Lois is back, people in my vicinity are going to have to do something to contain my hyperactive nuclear explosion of joy.

We need Lois back badly! Only one episode without her, and Clark's regressed back to the weak, insecure, doubtful individual that he was prior to S8!

Lois needs to come back so that we can see Clark become a "man" again. She truly brings out the best in him! Also, it's going to be great to see the legendary love between Lois and Clark begin. Their journey stands the test of time.

How sweet it will be to see the real love and soul mate of Clark Kent's life return! Clark is so much more interesting with her in his life. I suppose that's why he loves her so much......never a dull moment!

Garth definitely supplied some lightheartedness in Lois' absence, which I was thankful for.

But the next few episodes? Who's going to keep us smiling? They seem to be kind of darker, more downer episodes coming up.

Not it needs to be all light and fluffy, and it's definitely not all light and fluffy with Lois, but she just provides these great moments of levity that we don't really get with other characters (besides Jimmy, who is also mia)

I apologize if I said it here already, but I wish, when Garth said Lois' name, that hers wasn't just among a laundry list of recognizable names, but that there also would have been a significant look between him and Rokk or Imra, or a meaningful, arched look and/or giggle at Clark when her name is said. Okay, they can't give anything away verbally, but nonverbals work just as well.

As for Saturn Girl and her convo to Lana, well, I'm focusing on the fact that she said Lana and Clark were known not just as a twosome, but apart. It's the last word that I like.

Again, I missed Lois. I look forward to seeing her again and wish it were sooner.

Bit of a generalization? I'm a Lois fan and I miss her. I think leaving her out of Legion when there were so many superhero moments/secrets out in the open was an understandable move but with Chloe gone to Star City I'll find it much harder. I said at the start of this thread I'd be looking out for mentions and they were there. I'll be doing the same next week. I miss Lois. I have been a fan of her's since day 1. Are there people who are all about the shipping? Yes. But I think a lot of that is due to the positive effect she has on Clark and other characters. And I think you'll find that there are a number of people who love Lois for herself. I know I do.

I just don't get this need for people to diminish or dismiss her value. Are they that threatened by her? If people don't like her, then don't waste time talking about her. She has a lot of fans and a lot of support, and people who don't like her attempting to say otherwise isn't going to change that.

I think it's understandable that a lot of people will be like that considering the way the relationship was left in Bride and how it was built on Lois' side in the first half of the season. I'm a fan of both Clark and Lois as individuals and yes, I'm a fan of the ship, so I'm just as curious to see how it is played out. But I guess the one does kind of go hand in hand with the other right now, so I get what you're saying.

Mind you I miss her just as much from the POV that I'd like to see more reporter Lois. I'm really looking forward to the return of Jimmy too to see where that goes. I guess I'm just more 'conditioned' to his absence...

01-16-2009, 07:52 PM
I missed Lois herself because I like the strength and energy the brings to the show. She just has a strong presence a strong flavor as an actor and I missed it.

I also missed Lois because she seems to always be absent when Chloe is going through a trauma and I hate it. She could be such a great support to Chloe but they always make her disappear during things that have to do with Clark's secret. I think showing how Clark and Chloe are able to keep the secret away from Lois and Jimmy could be more fun than jettisoning them whenever there's a secret based plot.

So I for one missed Lois, not Clois. I don't want Clois again until Clark is over Lana. That's one good thing about Lois being gone.

I voted other because I did not miss her in this episode, because the storyline told us where she is. However, in the next episodes I will miss her because it does not make sense with the storyline may have set up. I mean Chloe to be with Jimmy. So it would seem logical that Lois would come back, and for the next three or four episodes Chloe would be part of the storyline from Star city. Now I probably know, what most of you are thinking Lois does not want to come back because of what happened between Clark and the other person at the end of bride. However, I would have thought Lois is strong enough to deal with the other person being there and give Clark hell because of what she saw.

Yeah, I did. I honestly don't understand why Erica is not part of the entire season, especially now during the last ones.
I think she's scheduled to appear in the final episodes, we're in the middle of the season and she isn't here, so she should be around when it counts.

i miss lois kinda more. i love clois dont get me wrong but i am a bigger lois fan

Same here. I love the Clark & Lois dynamic and all that, but I'm pretty sure I would know if I love that more than Lois herself. Lois is awesome and I really do enjoy seeing her and her wit, with or without scenes involving Clark.

Yeah, I so miss her. And I notice that when Clark talked about her, he was kinda cold. I really don't know what is in his mind. I hope that he will miss so much Lois, that it will hurt. It has been a great episode, but not the same without Lois.

Clark needs to get a clue. His character is right now too much like, if you can,t be with the one you love, tove the one your with." That's just they way the powers of SM are portraying him right now. Kal El is right, Clark is weak. If you want to check out a strong Clark, find the story written by Fullmetalmarta in the Lois/Clark fan fic section called "Kal El of Krypton" Just be warned it is not yet complete, and after reading, you will desperately want more.

I honestly think Fulmetalarta should take over writing for SM

Maybe the Powers of Smallville are doing this deliberately to tease us, so when Lois finally comes back we can really appreciate her. (Like hopefully Clark will) The one thingt the SM writers have done, is clearly show Clark in boo-hoo mode and weak around Lana. With Lois he is strong and confident and happy. (and so are all us Cloisers). In the meantime, the suspense is killing me. I better check up some Clois fan fic for my daily Clois fix.

Lois: Yeah, thanks. So, what can I help you with?

Rock: Could you tell us where Clark Kent is?

I remember in Crimson they did the same thing where Clark was in love with Lana, wanted Chloe in his back pocket, and wanted to kiss Lois. I'm too old fashioned. I want Clark to be a "one Lois man." But even once Lois gets back, I don't want them rushing into it. I want them to go slow. Like Clark once said, I'm fast, but not too fast." Slow keeps the romance going

Why couldn't Lana have been around and Lois still got his attention when necessary?

I don't understand these sorts of comments. It's like people expect Clark to be unable to deal with anyone other than Lana when Lana is around. Clark is an adult -- it should be possible for him to be in the same room with his future wife and high school sweetheart without the world imploding.

Clark doesn't know Lois is his future wife....I was concerned for Lois' feelings. I wasn't concerned for Clark. I'm sure he could deal with the two women in his life. After all SV is known for triangles and Clark has managed to survive.

Going by Erica's contract, what would you rather see for the episodes she is in. Lana, Lois and Clark in the same room, or Lois and Clark in the same room. I prefer Lois & Clark. Let Lana have her next 3 episodes. Bring Lois back and have quality time with Clark.

I don't think that Lois and Clark will instantly be a couple when Lana leaves. Lois is going to know that she is not the rebound girl when sufficient time goes by for her and Clark to explore their feelings for each other. I believe that is why we really need a S9 so we can see this longer time-line in their relationship.

That's sad. I would have thought, knowing your views on Lana as I do (as you and I have conversed in the past), that the best part of the episode for you would have been having Lana around!

Was there some reason you cared less about having Lana around than you did about not having Lois around? Was the Clana presented overshadowed by the absence of Lois? Well, if so, I can only say I hope that you enjoy Lana's character better in her final 3 of the series. :) ;)

I actually agree. Not that the two of them were ever really great friends on the show or anything, but the actresses do seem to get along, and IIRC, ED mentioned that she was excited to have KK back in an interview. It might have been nice to have given the two of them a chance to have a final scene together. I think they both would have enjoyed it!

Yes. They could of chopped down all that Lana-is-so-extremely-important (since when?) dialogue and scenes with Lois in them. I needed to see her humor and her pretty mug. :p I bet the writer could of easily found some more Superman like things for her dialogue. However, no overkill. Just a quip would be nice. Minimal screen time, and in the end, preferably.

It was hard to miss Lois when they forced her into the "previously on" for no apparent reason. I'd like to miss Lois. My birthday is in May, the writer's know what to get me.

The 'previously on' was a recap of all the episodes before the mid-season break, wasn't it?

They've had some pretty good scenes over the years. I loved their scene in Reckoning, where Lois was actually advising Lana on her proposal and giving advice. And then in season six, they bonded and talked for hours (though we only saw the very beginning of Lois' offer to listen if Lana wanted someone to talk to)

I think a last scene between the two would have been nice, if it had been done right.

Not really. She left with a resonating presence from Bride when she was adventurous and take charge that I love in planning the wedding and then vulnerable and lovingly concerned about the welfare of her cousin and her husband. For all of Lois' awkward drunk toasts and 'Pants! Pants on everyone!", she's truly become a well rounded character who volunteered to go tend to Jimmy, evidence that she now sees him as family, too.

She'll hopefully have a good part next epi to reunite with her cousin and do some eye action with CK!

I absolutely think Lois makes every episode better. Especially since her chemistry with Clark is burning brighter than ever. I can not wait until they are finally together. In my opinion, Lois and Kara being in this episode would have pushed it to the limit. I mean, it is one of the greatest top 10 episodes in Smallville history. I would have liked bringing Clark and Lois closer together. Having Kara help fight with Brainiac, and leaving with the Legion would definitely make it the best episode.:D

You're entitled to your opinion, but that IS iconic Lois Lane. She gets too tied up in her stories. It's her passion in life to seek and report the truth, and she does this at all costs. So, if you're getting that opinion, than TPTB are presenting Lois in a correct way.

That said, not everyone is going to love Lois Lane. I don't think there is a single character on Smallville who is universally loved, so if you didn't miss her, that's understandable.

But I personally would prefer to see Lois get sucked up in a story than see other kinds of drama on the show, and again that's all personal preference. ;)

Exactly why Lois is not needed.

Technically, even if Lois was not needed for Legion, I think it would have been nice for something to have Legion say something that made Clark start thinking about Clois(even just an expression - like the one he gave Lois in the very final scene of Committed when she told him she wiggled her finger out of the polygraph sensor and lied about her declaration of love then got off the elevator. I thought TW's reaction expression was great - like a look of disappointment.

I missed her but she had to be gone on this eppy, too many explanations and not enough time.

Yes, a thousand times over. Just imagine replacing Lana with Lois in this episode and it suddenly becomes the best episode in Smallville history.

God I miss Ms. Lane, when will she be finally back? :(

I've been missing her more and more. Smallville feels a little more brighter when Lois is around. I wish she was in all the episodes. Like that guy who created that thread, "Lois deserves a full season."

Period. I agree. No "but what if we can't do that questions because of our budget issues," PS3.

Yeah I know they need room for other characters but a four episode absence is way, way too long. LOIS DESERVES A FULL SEASON. Nuff said.

I missed Lois because of Clois, but had the holidays to distract me. Now all I have is Clana makeout sessions to look foward to and now I really miss her.

I didn't think there was room for Lana in the Smallville, but the stupid writers still found a way!

LOL...don't think you'll be getting that any more! Anyone else notice that Lois (or should I say Erica Durance) has gotten more respect for herself over the years. She is more modest now!

you all say you missed lois but how would her story have interpreted into the episode! The episode was good and having lois in it would have had to mean cutting back on scenes for the episode to make senses. IMO it was a pretty decent episode without her.

Yes, I did miss her actually. Too bad PS3 only allowed ED to do 12 eps this season. :(

I always missed lois when she wasn't in an episode. She lightens the mood and it makes me enjoy the episode more.
