Is there an American equivalent of Torchwood.

I'm not talking about do we have our own branch of Torchwood. I mean do we have our own mysterious and secret organization that monitors aliens on Earth like Torchwood?

Has it been hinted on Torchwood that there is?

Well, UNIT had a New York Office. Wouldn't be a "branch" of Torchwood, as that's a British Empire thing, and the colonials didn't want to play with us long before it was established ;)

I've been reading that in the episode "Last of the Timelords" The U.S. President was aware of what was going on with the Toclafane and he didn't seem very suprised at the existence of aliens so I think that would that we have our own organization similar to Torchwood.

Plus, in Journey's End was in New York City with Unit so I think that would imply some kind of organization that does something similar to Unit, which is similar to Torchwood.
