After reading about ten Pratchett novels, I think I'm ready for a change in Fantasy Fiction. It's just that I don;t know where to go next. Can people give me reading suggestions as to what good fantasy books I could get? Apart from LOTR or Harry Potter of course.

terry brooks - start with the voyage of the jerle shannara (i did, and i loved it, it's got a really good twist at the end). elves and warlocks and men. good characters... just brilliant.
neil gaiman - neverworld. set in london, in a hidden world that no one can see. got a great light hearted comedy feel too it.

Ive came close to buying that series several times. Ill give it a try after i finish off the (mediocre) twlight books.

G P Taylor - shadowmancer. probably aimed at teens, but still enjoyable for all ages.
Ursula Le Guin - a wizard of earthsea. very poetic fantasy, and good old fashioned stuff about dragons.
Lian Hern - across the nightingale floor. got a kind of exotic taste too it

i can't seem to get into his other work, i bought the sword of shannara and struggled through it. can't get into magic kingdom for sale at all... it's weird
but that one trilogy i love. i think it's the main guy in it, i love him so much , and the dynamic between him and the villain and all the characters, and then that awesome twist... i might re read them actually :)

IMO, it doesn't get any better than the "a song of ice and fire" sequence by george r. r. martin.
i see someone mentioned jordan; i think that he's okay too. let's see...i'd also suggest "the lies of locke lamorra" by scott lynch, "the first law" trilogy by joe abercrombie and "the prince of nothing" sequence by r. scott bakker.
all of these are the very tip of fantasy greatness.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. Essentially it's fantasy because of its many worlds setting, but it doesn't feel like it as you read through. It's already being talked about as a great work of fiction, but I think it will go on to be regarded as a work of genius in the future. Just don't let the film put you off.

I'll second
Robert Jordan(Wheel of Time)
Terry Brooks(Shannara)
Terry Goodkind(Sword of Truth) This series also has a tv show based on it called Legend of the Seeker but it is looked down upon by a lot of the book fans

Take a deep breath. Instead of Book 12, A Memory of Light being the last, there are going to be three more. Brandon sanderson says RJ (RIP great writer) left to much to be done in a single book (otherwise he would have to cut out character endings) so there will be 3 more! Releases are roughly set at:
The Wheel of Time : A Memory of Light : The Gathering Storm - November-December 2009
The Wheel of Time : A Memory of Light : Shifting Winds - late 2010
The Wheel of Time : A Memory of Light : Tarmon Gaiden - late 2011

Wow This is great. I've never read any of Brandon Sanderson's work but I think I read somewhere that RJ before he passed away gave his approval for him to finish the story so hopefully it will be good.

RJ didnt approve him but made a shortlist of authors he would have liked. Brandom Sanderson was one of those, was a fan of the series and had a suitable schedule making him the best choice.
RJ had written out the endings for all the characters and done precise plans for the final book. Brandon Sanderson is using all this material.
It may also interest you that Warner Brothers have purchased the rights for Wheel of Time productions and are contemplating a movie.

The Belgariad and The Malloreon by David Eddings are both great series, IMO.
I have recently become enamored with the Percy Jackson books (I held off on those for a long time cause I figured they were Harry Potter wannabes but they turned out to be really good!) by Rick Riordan.

Anything by Neil Gaiman is cool.
Also, there's the Quest Series by Lisa Wright-deGroodt. I think book 10 was released a couple months ago. I've only just discovered the series and, I've just read Book 1 : Oracle Quest. In my opinion it's a great fantasy book and, I am told that they just keep getting better :)

Agreed!
And since the OP said they like Pratchett, the best way to get into Gaiman is to read his collaborative work with Terry Good Omens. Great book!

I adored David Eddings as a teenager, same with Anne McCaffrey.
Ursula K LeGuin and Madeleine L'Engle are must reads. Under no circumstances however watch the horrible SyFy movie butchering of LeGuin's EarthSea series, even though it has Shawn Ashmore and Kristin Kreuk. That was infuriating and apalling and wrong.
It took me a while to read Percy Jackson as well, but it was fun.
I have to recommend anything and everything by Sharon Shinn, but in particular Heart of Gold which deals with issues of class, culture, gender, prejudice, loyalty, and honor all in the same book and Jenna Starborn, which is a retelling of Jane Eyre with an sf bent.
Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde series is good stuff, as is her Last Herald Mage series.
Tanya Huff, too, in particular the Blood series with Vicky Nelson, a former cop who has retinitis pigmentosa turned private detective; it was made into a sadly short lived tv series called Blood Ties.
I could go on and on. :)

How could I have forgotten about Mercedes?! *facepalms* Yes, her Diana series is good but her Herald Mage series is great!
I recently found an author who writes in the genre named Hilari Bell. I've only read her Knight and Rogue books but they are really fun. They aren't 'epic' fantasy but as I said, they're fun.

I've just started Jackson Fforde's "The Eyre Affair" which has been a lot of fun so far.
