I gotta say, to me there hasn't exactly been much development with that realtionship this season to make that last scene believeable.

I mean, for a woman who lost her only daughter, Meredith seemed more concerned about blackmailing Nathan and screwing Claire out of her share of the money.

As nice as it would've been for Claire to have gotten to know her bio mom, they never really seemed that close.

I would hope that since we didn't see a body that Meredith could still be alive.

Heroes is the kinda of show where they like to keep things open with the characters.

i like their realtionship to grow too because claire is a very good charecter and al she needs is a strong relationship with someone.

Meredith may not be dead. Don't think she can die from fire (crushed by building yes)
She did not die in fire when they found Claire.
Her Brother the bad fire guy (per graphic novel) said fire can't hurt him.
If she is dead Sylar gets her at start of next season.

I agree, the whole mother-daughter relationship was really rushed. She didn't really care about her in S1, then all of a sudden in S3 is willing to risk her life to protect her? I can understand Claire being sad she died , she's still her biological mom whether she knows her or not. It's not like she was "OMG NO, MOM!", she knew what was going to happen and she accepted it, which I have to say, I'm proud of her for (proud of a TV show character, yay!) she's been so whiney and on/off hating her dad, it's nice to see her be smart, and deal with things.
