I don't think her powers had anything to do with the 'light'. I think that Hiro's mom's power was healing and she also had the light. So Claire will keep her powers. Hiro now has the light and his powers.

I think it was implied that it took ALL of the haitian's effort and focus to hold in ALL of Arthur's power, therefore he couldn't worry about Sylar without releasing Arthur.
