Which was the better episode?
Personally even though "Shattered" gets more recognition, I liked "Asylum" better.

"Shattered" takes it for me. Although "Asylum" was awesome too, being the first time there was a FOTW team-up.

Toughie but I'll have to go for Shattered. I rate it as my second favourite episode of the entire series. I see them as a pair (the best back to back episodes ever) but if I could only watch one of them again it would be Shattered. And if I'm being picky, the Lana/Adam scenes slow Asylum down, whereas Shattered just doesn't let up!

IMO, i think Shattered was Lex's character's best episode. Michael did an amazing job with Lex's story and plot in that ep. it was a great ep. one of my faves.

"Shattered." It's a great Clark/Lex episode that just breaks my heart (the teaser and electroshock scenes of "Asylum" do that too, but not for the whole episode). "Asylum" is more of an, "oh look, FoTWs of the past!/we do have continuity, see?" episode.

shattered is probably the best episode of season 3. really, i'm on episode 20 of season three, and there hasn't been a bad episode this season. it's probably my favorite season.

I prefer shattered. It made me laugh, it made me cry. :)
Def one of the best of the series.

Asylum was good too, just not as memorable for me.

I enjoy both episodes quite a bit, but i personally prefer Shattered. I think it does such a fantastic job of delving into Lex's psyche and making you question what's really going on, right up to the very end. And the WAY it ended was so awesome that it practically could've been a season finale. It certainly kept fans wondering and guessing as they geared up for "Asylum." I like "Asylum," too, especially the way they bring back three former villains to gang up on Clark, but "Shattered" is still better, in my personal opinion.
