I voted Abyss. It was really emotional. I felt so bad for Chloe and then the Chlavis kiss and everything, I was pretty much either crying or yelling at the tv through the episode :D

Bride comes second, a bit too confusing to be the best.

Bride was my favourite so far. A close second was Identity. There's been so much iconic Clark Kent/ Lois Lane/ Superman interaction this season (which I love) its a hard decision to make.

Best to Worst:

1. "Bride" (culminated the first half of the season with what easily could have been a season finale) Continuity Galore!!!

2. "Abyss" (Clark actually acting like Superman and Jor-El and him aren't fighting) Allison Mack is wonderful in this episode and "Bride," really making her character believable that she never new Clark had powers or was an Alien.

3. "Identity" Great Jimmy and Clark moments

4. "Instinct" Dumb? Yes. Fun? Heck Yeah!

5. "Bloodline" Better Than I Expected. Pleasantly Surprised That The Writers Didn't Kill Kara off.

6. "Odyssey" A very welcomed change in attitude for the show.

7. "Prey" Gave more about Davis and showed chemistry with Chloe

8. "Commited" Somehow even a lame premise worked because of the growing chemistry of Clark and Lois as more than friends.

9. "Plastique" Freak of the Week, but Added something to Chloe's character, so a plus.

10. "Toxic" Why does Smallville have to have every new character have a connection to someone else on the show. Cliched and redundant flashback. Really pointless. I don't care about Tess and Oliver's lost love. It doesn't have any bearing on the present. I think the episode was only done to add more to the character of Tess, which is good, but it could have been better.

I had a hard time choosing since we are having such an awesome season but Committed won out with Bride a close second and third was Odyssey with scruffy Clark. Those Lois and Clark scenes in Committed were so good and the look on Clark's face when Lois says she loves Clark was priceless. Unlike Bride with DD, Clark was able to be more heroic in Committed.

I think this season has been very strong overall so far. PS3 are doing a great job & have done wonders for the Clark Kent character. I'm just guessing here, but I wonder if Committed was more of a favorite among female viewers than male. I like Committed myself, at least much more than I thought I would, but Identity seemed very Superman-like to me.

I waited a couple of weeks before posting to this thread, to mull over all of the episodes. I found that the one I kept coming back to was "Committed." Although other episodes had more action, and more involvement with the ongoing story arcs, "Committed" had the most memorable dialogue. The scene in which Clark and Lois are pretending to be a couple in the jewelry shop is hilarious. And Lois's confession that she loves Clark has truly changed the direction of the show, in terms of the relationships.

Identity was the best for me. We got to see Clark handling the whole second identity while being a superhero. Jimmy wasn't completely annoying this episode, particularly because it wasn't focused on Chimmy. It was more old school Jimmy Olsen working with Clark. Plus the last scene with Lois and Sebastian was intense!

However, Prey was a close second. I love the Clark and Davis interaction.

Even though I choose Identity I have liked Odyssey, and so far this season is by far the best. So very hard to choose just one so I will say all episodes thus far and that is my final answer.

This is how I rank the episodes:

1) Prey: Davis and Chloe! And I loved the darker edge to the episode.

2) Plastique: Introduction of Davis and lots of Chlark; I also liked Tess in this episode.

3) Abyss: I loved the episode minus the Clark wiping Chloe's memory thing. It would be higher up if not for that.

4) Bride: Didn't like half of the episode, but I loved the Doomsday ending with Chloe. Honestly, I'm just loving the character of Davis. But I hated seeing the Chimmy marriage, and I thought the Clois was a bit over the top. Too many anvils. This episode would be lower on the list if it wasn't for the beautiful ending between Chloe and Doomsday in the FOS.

5) Odyssey: Liked the change in the color scheme; And I liked how the show started with a different feel. I don't however like the way Clark is getting into journalism.

6) Toxic: I liked Oliver's story, but it could have been better. Decent episode though.

7) Bloodline: The episode wasn't too bad (although I thought the dialogue in the PZ was a bit moronic; how did Kara not recognize Clark?), and had some great moments, like when Davis stabbed himself. The Brainiac/Doomsday stuff was great.

8) Identity: I liked Jimmy in this episode. This is exactly how Jimmy should be on the show minus Chimmy from the equation. He works great when he's investigating the Big Red Blur, instead of getting jealous over Chloe and Clark. I also liked Sebastian. Good actor from Blood Ties. The Justice league type scene between Chloe, Oliver and Clark was really good. The comedic timing was awesome. The three actors should play off each other more.

9) Instinct: Hated the Maxima character. And Jimmy really came off as a tool in this episode. Plus, crapping on the Fever letter the way they did? Wrong, just wrong. I did not like this episode at all.

10)Committed: One big long soap opera in my opinion. And I hate soaps. Chimmy, Clois, and Tess/Oliver all were just melodramatic and felt forced. There's nothing I liked about this episode. Okay, wait, there's one thing. When Lois said she didn't think Jimmy was the one. Best Lois moment of the season. I enjoyed her speech, and I thought it made her seem like she really cared about her cousin. But still, I didn't like this episode. I would be more accepting of the Clois if it didn't feel so rushed. And I'm convinced Chloe beat the box because of Brainiac (that's what he does, beat machines), because there's no way she only loves Jimmy. GAG. I actually felt the urge to throw tomatoes. So this episode gets last place for me for the soap feel and the CHIMMY! YUCK.

I think that "Bloodline" has definitely been my favorite so far.I like how it also brings Lois to the phantom zone with him, and how they brought Kara back for at least one episode. It was also the start of the real Doomsday stuff starting up with Davis.

I've been meaning to make this thread for a while, and since i can't see one like it i thought i'd go ahead and make it :)

IMO S8 has delievered some of the best episodes in a long time and they're going to keep getting better i wager.
So i was wondering, out of the 10 episodes we've seen so far, what your favourite episode was and why? ;)

I've made the poll mulit optional, because i know some people may have trouble deciding.


In my case, my vote goes to; Identity.
This episode, had so much hype (with the trailer we saw and the spoilers we'd been given etc), there was always the worry of whether it could live up to it. Did it? Yes it did.
The episode gave us a glimpse of the iconic trio (Clark, Lois and Jimmy), actually seeing them interact together. To me it gave us the REAL Jimmy Olsen. Clark realising at the end that people need a hero out there (his face when everyone was looking at the "samaritan" on the roof), Lois' task at the end, to get the interview with the samaritan. Oliver finally getting himself out of that jet and helping Clark, sober. Thank heavens. Not to mention the end, with Chloe. To me it was an absolutely amazing episode. And has made it into my top 10 episodes of the entire series as well ;)

Runner up episodes go to; Bloodline & Bride
Bloodline, the amazing acting skills of Erica Durance. Simply wonderful. It was nice to see Kara again, even though i wasn't her biggest fan in S7. Also, we got a bit more of the freaky Chloiac going on :eek:
Bride; First viewing of this, i was disappointed, but further viewing made me realise i was being picky and this episode was well acted by the ENTIRE cast. Tom and Erica were FANTASTIC. The end scene? The return of music to Smallville in one of the best ways :)

If we're going to be picky, and say least favourite episode (even though thats not what this thread is about) i'm going to go with Abyss on that one. No, not because it was Chloe centric before anyone says anything. I simply didn't enjoy much of the episode. All i enjoyed were the scens in the FOS :o

Plastique was just so good for me because firstly it expanded the relationship between Clark and Lois, but it also started treating Clark has a heroic character - I love the new heroic Superman-like music they give him and he actually smiles. Memorable simply because after that, everything changed.

Well just to be different I'm going to say Odyssey. It wasn't perfect, and sure, there were plot holes, but these were in part down to trying to do too much in 40 minutes (wish they'd spread it out over two episodes, or had an extended opening). But there were some great set piece moments (the first scene, the Clark/Ollie fight, the climax in Montana) and some genuine dramatic tension, with the JLA captured, Chloe handing over the phone numbers, Clark being shot etc. Any ep that balances action and drama has to get my vote, especially as we saw the Justice League in action - give us more of that please!

And I'll also speak up for Toxic. Although Oliver deserved a better origins episode the scenes with Oliver, Lois and Tess were great.

Committed? Didn't rock my world. The lie detector seemed like a weak plot device, and a wicked jeweller? Didn't do it for me. Clark running into Kryptonite was very predictable, and the climax seemed weak. Not one I'll watch again.

Where's Odyssey? Anyway, my favorite is Committed, not because of the "yes" part, but because Clark took care of Lois after she got drunk. That was too sweet, he took her to the farm, even though her place was in the exact same place as the engagement party and waited for her the whole morning to wake up so he could give her that glass of medicine. Legion and Odyssey are also great. Instinct is awesome because of Maxima, a hottie we do not see so often on SV or even TV :P

personally it was the quality of the acting that made it great for me... episodes like Legion were great in theory but other than Alison's brilliant performance and Sam's pretty consistent acting, i found the whole thing felt a bit forced and at points even patronising

personally it was the quality of the acting that made it great for me... episodes like Legion were great in theory but other than Alison's brilliant performance and Sam's pretty consistent acting, i found the whole thing felt a bit forced and at points even patronising

If Prey was an option I'd have voted for that (I voted Other). Legion was a nice fun episode, but Prey was just solid all around. Also, Legion had to undo Abyss, making the whole Chloe-knows-Chloe-doesn't-know thing have no payoff (Clark never told Chloe about taking away her memories). In Prey, Clark was on point, MM was great, Davis was conflicted and scary, Chloe was supportive, and the story was well set up, highlighting the Clark vs. Davis thing and putting them on opposite sides of a mirror. plusnoloisyay!!!!!!!

Of the original ten episodes, my favorite was "Identity," closely followed by "Bride" and "Abyss." "Odyssey" and "Bloodline" follow those three. I really think that "Identity" is hands-down the best of that bunch because it has so much to do with Clark's ultimate heroic destiny, and Jimmy has some of the best moments to shine. It also features some great Chlark moments, good Lois reporting and Clois scenes, and it kept me riveted from beginning to end. "Bride" had all the signs of being perfect as a season finale, so the fact that we got such a high-quality episode only halfway through was a real treat. In fact, I almost voted for it instead of "Identity." "Abyss" is just a personal fan favorite due to the amount of concentration on Chloe and her character development. After watching "Infamous," that would probably end up replacing "Abyss" in my top 3, however, and "Legion" is somewhere up there in my top 5, too. Of course, any other episodes in the Lana arc are toward the bottom of my list, just because of all the backsliding and lack of progress made by Clark in those episodes.

This has been a good season, but it hasn't yet given what I would call a 'classic' episode. Season 8 is unusual because it's been consistently good (I didn't hate Power and Requiem like so many did, though they were certainly not great), and SV usually gives us some really dumb episodes in between good ones. But 8 hasn't really done that yet. Legion might be a classic, but other than that I can't really claim as one episode as incredible.

Now my thoghts...

1. Identity - The more I think about it the more clear it gets, this is one of the BEST episodes of the entire series. Incredible writing, acting, timing between Prey and Bloodline absolutely AWESOME. And the title simply makes it even more LEGENDARY.

2. Bloodline - Makes 2nd place because of its marvelous ability to wrap up its storylines and leave place for new things to come. Again great acting by everyone included.

3. Hex - The most funniest episode of the season yet it pulled of brilliaintly. How awesome was that 911 call Clark made?

4. Stilleto - This one makes the top list because of it s9 feel all over. Great foreshadowing

5. Infamous - I consider this a filler episode because of the reset button at the end but what an episode INDEED. Brilliant Clois and Chlark moments I just wish that Tess was in it.

6. Legion - Again felt like it didn't wrap up Bride that much as it stood alone as an awesome episode. But credit goes to the writer for writing such an awesome script which included Clark lecturing the Legion on how murdering is a measure of last resort.

7. Commited - This one and Hex are interchangeable because they are both great. This is still one of the best Clois eps ever. The acting was awesome in this one.

8. Bulletproof - Bryan Miller does a fantastic job with this episode. While I watch it it seems like I am reading the comics all over again. Lame ending though.

9. Abyss - Great conclusion to the first s8 arc in my opinion. IMO Abyss tied all loose ends and storylines (Clois excluded) Great Clark / JoR El, great Chloe, superb acting bby everyone.

10. Odyssey - A top notch episode which maybe should have been higher but still... it wrapped up s7 in a loveable way.

NOTE: Why isn't Bride on my list? Because I felt like everything in it was said and done already. It was like the wedding was the only thing that was worth mentioning. Lex's alive? Everyone knew that! Oliver seeking revenge on Lex? Everyone expected that too! Doomsday attacking on the farm? How anticlimatic! That's why I don't consider Bride a great but simply good episode.

1) Bride - I loved pretty much everything about this episode, and it would've made for a WAY better season finale than "Doomsday" did. And Chloe made the most GORGEOUS bride ever. :D
2) Identity - Jimmy thinking he'd discovered Clark's secret was really cool, and put Clark on the defensive for a change.
3) Odyssey - Undoubtedly one of the coolest season premieres I've ever seen; it really made me start hoping that Smallville would be great again!
4) Legion - I LOVE THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES!!! 'Nuff said. Oh, except that Chloe rocks as Chloeiac.
5) Infamous - Cool plot twists, lots of big moments, the return of an old villain... lots of incredible things to like about this episode!
6) Abyss - It's Chloe-centric awesomeness. The only thing that detracted a bit from it was what Clark did to Chloe's memories. Grr!
7) Stiletto - Hilarious, adorable, awesome fun. I really liked seeing Lois try to take on the role of a super-hero, and the way Clark took a bullet from her was even more cool and heroic.
8) Bloodline - Pretty nice return for Kara.
9) Bulletproof - Introducing Dan Turpin and including John Jones again -- way cool.
10) Hex - Lots of good comic relief in this episode!
11) Doomsday - It's pretty sad when a season's finale episode comes in only halfway up the list. :/
12) Plastique - Not bad... It was a pretty good introduction for Davis, anyway, and Bette was a better guest character than a lot of the ones they've had.

It was a pretty damn good season with very few duds. I can understand people's angst at the Power-Requiem double, and also the lack of fire-power plus the confusion of the Finale.

IMHO, it is the best of all 8 seasons in terms of consistently top quality non-filler episodes. I didn't agree with the Lana Superhero arc but didn't think the two most hated episode were that bad.

For me Toxic, Bulletproof and Prey where the most meh-worthy, while Hex, Identity, Committed, Abyss and Bride were season stand-outs.

I thought S8 was the reverse of S6. A fabulous first half followed by a 2nd half of the season that was a little disappointing. S6 was the opposite. A slow first half with a killer final 12 episodes.

I had to vote for Committed, even though I also loved Bride. i based my decision on the fact that even though i have both episodes downloaded to my ipod, Committed is the one that has been watched A LOT! LoL

Bride was realy good, but it is tainted with the return of Lana, so it cant make my list, same goes for Legion and since i dont know the Legion of Superheroes comics the appearance of some of them cant neutralize the Lana factor.

I think Infamous is my favorit epi this season, followed by Stiletto (loved the phone booth scene at the end and Lois just rocks :D).

Overall i think my list would be something like this:

I really enjoyed a ton of episodes this season. These are my top 10 episodes of the season:
1) Bride - nothing can touch this episode for me. It was absolutely unreal in how exciting, well-crafted, and suspenseful it was. It felt like 10 times the season finale that "Doomsday" was... and "Bride" isn't even a season finale, LOL! Plus, Chloe was TOTALLY the hottest bride. :D
2) Identity - This is the best Jimmy-centric episode of the whole season, and it had lots of excellent character beats for Clark, Chloe, and Oliver as well.
3) Odyssey - Unlike many other people, I really dug the season premiere. I think they did the absolute best with what they had to work with (having lost four cast members from the previous year). Tess was introduced as an interesting new character, Lois was given a lot to do, Clark got his powers back and was reunited with some of his Justice League buddies, and Chloe discovered her Brainiac powers. That's a lot to pack into one episode.
4) Abyss - What do you expect? It's a Chloe-centric episode, featuring some of the best scenes and memories that are Chlark related from throughout the entire series! Plus, it shows us their first encounter, which I've always wanted to view on-screen ever since Clark first talked about it in "Obscura."
5) Legion - Being a Legion of Super-Heroes fan, I was already amped up for this episode, but became even more so after having watched it. Chloeiac was amazing, too, and Sam Witwer did a particularly amazing job as Davis. Plus, it was awesome to see how far Clark was willing to go to protect Chloe, and all human life. All that, and Lana didn't annoy me one bit in this episode, which is no small achievement.
6) Infamous - This was just a really exciting episode for me. Even though most of the events of it ended up not mattering in the end 'cause Clark changed the timeline, it was fascinating to watch what MIGHT have happened if Clark revealed his identity to the world.
7) Stiletto - This is a fun Lois-centric episode with some of the best humorous moments of the series. "Now, I'm going to go back to my cave!" --Lois in a British accent, LOL!
8) Hex - This is a fantastic episode for Chloe, Clark, and Lois, with major revelations for all three characters. Plus, it had Zatanna, who was pretty cool as well.
9) Bulletproof - Unlike many other Ksiters, even though I wasn't very happy that Clana had to kiss at the end, it didn't detract from it enough to make it one of the worst episodes for me. In fact, I really, really liked the whole cop drama angle, with Clark going undercover, and trying to help find out who shot the Martian Manhunter. Dan Turpin was an interesting character who I would like to see as a recurring guest, too.
10) Finally, I'll go with Bloodline. The Clois Phantom Zone scenes were pretty incredible, the Davis storyline got way creepier, and we had a guest appearance from Kara where she DIDN'T DIE, which pleasantly surprised me!

All 10 of the above episodes are excellent, in my opinion, and I will be anxious to watch them when I get the new DVD set. The only sad part is that the season finale didn't make it to my top 10 list this year, which doesn't happen very often, if ever, for me...
