This episode was old school all the way. It had Lana Chloe Lex CK LL drama/action, good acting, good writing and loads of nostalgia. I just loved it!! Reminded me of season 4.
I REALLY hope smallville continues like this!

Now that you mention it, having a reunion of original actors was a nice touch.

took place in smallville. I'm still trying to figure out why all the victims were taken to Metropulous hospital though LOL. Last episode they made a point again to say it was 2 hours away now LOL

yeah, your right. But it's almost become a smallville tradition to send people all over the map without regard to distance or placement. Go figure:cool:

:lol:First 3 hours away, then it seems like it's next door(lois driving to work), and now it's 2 hours away. I don't mind the inconsistancy that much, but it does make me laugh. Those smallville writers...their so funny!

Because Metropolis has better medical facilities to treat broken bones, internal bleeding and torn off limbs.

Yeah, this ep really took me back. It was so sweet when Chloe screamed Lana, because you know KK and AM are such good friends. And then even the Clana scenes, many fans have suffred through them, but I thoguht there was something poignant there. KK and TW have come such a long way since S1.

This episode did possess a lot of 'old school' elements that helped make it so good. I was really impressed with Bride...and I'm quite disappointed that it didn't do better in the ratings but I really do think Legion will be the episode we are all waiting for...It will do well without a doubt!! This season is amazing!!

The episodes are def. better, they have been for a while
Say what you want about Season 1, but it was mostly just FOTW
Most of the "Great" episodes have come in the later seasons IMO

Old Smallville for me ended in Season 3, which was the peak of the show for my money. I enjoyed seasons 4-7, especially Season 7, but this season is probably my second favorite season.

"Bride" had the Cour Four in it, but it wasn't really "old school SV" to me.
It was better.
OS!SV would never have a big monster crashing a Chloe/Jimmy wedding. Nor would it have Chloiac, Clois about to kiss, the FOS, or the GA running around.

I know, but I loved it.
Season 4-6 I can take or leave. The witch storyline especially... meh. Jason Teague... meh.
My love for Season 7 may have a lot to do with Kara.

It was definateley a great episode, but it wasn't like old Smallville. It amazes me how much the show has changed from the first season. It's like a completely new show, but it still has the same people and stuff. Just different plot lines, characters, you know. It's still and great show all around. and it really keeps us watching But it is better this season than ever it was before.
I know, but I loved it.

Teague was awesome. He put Lana in her place. She whines about Jason not thinking she could handle it and he responds with "Remember that deal with being tied to a chair and electrocuted? I'd say that was some pretty good foresight on my part." - I was hoping every episode from halfway through season 1 that Clark would say something like that to Lana. "I've saved your life half a dozen times now, and each time you didn't listen to me - maybe now's a time to start?"

but in terms of Smallville's past it was NEVER chloe, it was the big iconic 3: Clark, Lex, Lana.
chloe never fit those big iconic shoes.

I like Teague as a character but I don't like how his storyline played out. I honestly felt like they just decided he wasn't worth continuing and pulled a plug on him.

That ending was epic, the penultimate cliffhanger for me. The reason I put it above this one is because it's absolute Luther at its most ruthless.

I'm not voting either because it didn't remind me of the old and "great" episodes, nor was it an average episode.

IA. It seems like he was suddenly light-switched from being a generally good guy to be a bad guy. It would have made more sense if they had thought his story out better.

I think they should make another episode in Smallville High... I mean not as students anymore but maybe as a crime made on Smallville High... they should make some scenes there at least...

This episode didn't really seem old school to me, but it wasn't just an average episode either. So I didn't vote.
But I guess it was a LITTLE old school with the very subtle CHLARK, CLANA, and Lex mysteriousness. If I could place it anywhere I would place it in season 5. (Even though there was no green arrow then, but hey, this is old school right?)

They basically gave him a dead end.
Anyway to the topic at hand, it was surprisingly nice to see the old gang all together. But the old gang was together within a season ago so it isn't like it has been that long.

Totally agree with ya there, Daishi. I actually enjoyed alot of Season 7, including Kara. I wasn't totally blown away by the Finale, and Veritas came off a tad forced, IMO, but it was better than those God-awful Isobel/Witch episodes. To me the Teague storyline was kinda underwhelming as well. To each their own, though.

Since I have enjoyed every season of Smallville and in my opinion there hasn't been a drop off in quality after Season 3. So after saying that the only reason this epsiode reminded me of old school Smalllville was because of the music at the end and during the epsiode.

This episode was not IMO old school. The PWTB seem to be tryiing to recreate Chlana all over again. Why can't they move on? I for one am sick to death of Lana loft scenes and Clark regressing to a lovesick fool. I want to see my superhero Superman emerging and right now I just don't see it. SO if the PTB really think that is what us viewers want to see ie Clana. they are very much mistaken. We want to see Clark fulfilling his destiny as Superman and acknowledging his love for Lois, even if it is flawed with doubts and difficulties.

I liked "Bride" alot but I have loved all of season 8. And if TPTB can continue like this, I would very much like a season 9.
But i would not call it old school smallville. Seasons 1 to 3 to me were the best, but if season 8 continues the way its has, it could top them.
Season 4 and the witch arc was sad. And in season 5, we had the big 100th episode and the Big Surprise, Jonathan Kent Dies. Big Surprise.
In season 6 and 7, We had the never ending Clana and Clark acting like a BDA. The only episode I watched again and again was Crimson. I loved Clark crashing the engagement party and telling everyone off.
The reason season 8 has been great so far is because Clark is finally making progress towards becoming Superman. And isn't that supposed to be what Smallville is all about.
To but it in prospective, since season 1, I have always taped each episode but had stopped rewatching them 2 seasons ago. Not this seasons, I have rewatched each episode.

Very well said. ;)
I think it felt old school because it was an episode that was mostly shot/spent at the Kent barn, but other than that.. not really all that old school. Definitely better.
I'm so excited for Thursday! :D
