Did anyone else think it was odd that Davis wasn't even showsn until the fourth or fifth act?

I could be wrong, but I know that screenwriters use certain techniques in formatting episodes and how they use certain people to keep viewers informed about whats going on. Surely, it would have been important to at least make viewers aware of Davis' presence before his transformation? And the phone calls do not suffice.

Maybe there's deleted scenes on the DVD that got taken out for one reason or another, and then they used that handheld camera flashback device thing to take up time.

It's also strange that they cut through the actual wedding ceremony.

I agree with your assessment of the episode, the editing was off tonight, but was it written that way? directed that way? or was it editing? that would be interesting to learn about in the commentary......

I'm not sure what you're saying, since Davis was shown before the transformation. He was shown getting out of his ambulance (covered in blood) disposing of remains from one of his victims in a trash dumpster.

The transformation was interesting...

Yeah I noticed the same. I was expecting Davis to start the episode, well at least he sort of finished it...

I hope that they did not cut the parts that would've explained the wierd plastic bags he was carrying around. I personaly thought it was a really wierd choice all together. Like he's covered in blood, obviously "some" people are juiced in those...

I mean yeah sure it was nice to see those Clois sceenes and GA almost killing someone and Lana kungfuing and Clana staring competitions, but yeah I still think Doomsday killing people should be taken a little bit more seriously. How many has Doomsday already killed? And how many of those victims actually get a mentioning in the show?

I know that he was shown prior to his arrival, he was shown for his transformation.

But it's incredibly uncommon and akward to NOT display a character until his big, intense scene. Normally, Doomsday would have built up to his transformation scene via one or two other scenes throughout the episode.

i think the editing you are referring to is the producers using the "Cloverfield" approach to the episode, thats all...plus when Clark looked into the punch bowl it reminded me of the famous scene in Jurassic Park when the kids looked at the cup on the dashboard shaking with water in it...i thought it was well done...Davis was in the opening scene you just didn't get a good glimpse at him...

Maybe I'm not wording this well.

In most television, every character who is going to play a major role in the episode is seen within the first or second act of the episode, to remind the viewers who that character is, etc and delivers lines or actions that will remind the audience that he/she is capable of certain actions that he will later complete in the episode, and also that it is in character and plausible.

However, in this episode, we don't see Sam Witwer until the fourth of fifth act. And when we do, it jumps right into a storyline involving him that we don't have any clue about. He's wiping blood off of himself? Garbage bags?

I think that there are deleted scenes involving him that were supposed to be at the beginning of the episode that were cut for time.

He was eluded to with Chloe's missing calls. I don't think it will appear awkward, especially on DVD, straight through. But, it is possible we're missing a piece there.

Yeah I just don't think Chloe's calls were enough. I don't know, maybe I need to watch the episode again.

No, I mean, it definitely stood out that he wasn't introduced as a standard character arc for the episode. It just didn't bother me that much. Most times I don't like the whole standard hour long character arc because it becomes predictable. But, for flow, it is a more logical and smooth progression of the story.

I mean, I guess it would have been a little more logical to at least have him confront Chloe early on, and then have the audience forget about it, then just have him crash the wedding.

Though like Jimmy said, a groom should never see his bride on their wedding day ;).

I am sure we will, and I hope we have a lot more extra content, as well for Season Nine.
