View Full Version : Is anyone else getting bored by chapter 3?

My problem is, it kind of wanders along aimlessly, and I don't actually feel like it's going anywhere. I was full of good will after chapter 2, confident that Tim Kring would do something that made up for what was essentially a sub-par sub-series (admittedly, partially because of the writer's strike), but it seems to me that the story is so uninspired that it borders on being a high school play, and most of the characters including the protagonists in the chapter are just completely irrelevant and even, dare I say, underused. It just feels like all Kring is trying to do essentially, is tie chapter 3 into chapter 1 and completely ignore chapter 2 by pretending it never happened - literally.

For me, what is more distasteful, is the sacking of writers like Jeph Loeb, who have a firm understanding and love for the superhero genre - should chapter 4 even go ahead with how bad chapter 3 is turning out?

No episodes have aired yet that have not been influenced by Jeph Loeb.

Vol 1 was Genesis, its purpose was to begin the show, establish these characters, and bring them together for the first time.

Vol 2 was Generations, its intended purpose was to reveal the history of the previous generation, though the writers strike kind of nixed that.

Vol 3 was supposed to be Exodus, showing how the characters reacted to failure in Vol 2.

Vol 3 is now Villains, examining just what makes one a Hero and where, if anywhere, is the line that makes one a villain.

Plot has always been secondary to Heroes- what its really about is the characters.

I fear. Every week I fear that the next episode will bore me to death about one of the character that I don't relate to, or even like. And since there are so many characters, the odds of this happening to me are great.

I want to see characters I like. Such as Peter, Claire, Hiro. Not that guy who gets stronger with fear, or that weird dude with blue fire, or even Claire's mom, with red fire. And many others. I miss Mohinder, Nicky and her husband, Mica's cousin with her amazing ability. My favorite characters are being killed off or overshadowed by new, unrelatable characters I can't care to learn to care about. :\

Look at that. It's been so long I can't even remember the names of the characters I enjoyed watching :(

I haven't watched the last two episodes either. I worked all day the last two Mondays and just couldn't keep my eyes open by the time it came on. I haven't given up on it either, but I don't know....

I've been really forgiving this season, as I value the informational episodes... but after yet another slow episode last night, I am getting bored- next week needs some excitement and action

I've found myself channel-surfing during "Heroes" more and more frequently. In Seasons 1 and 2 I hung on every line of dialogue in every scene.

I think "It's Coming" really livened the season up.

I haven't been bored at all...and I don't think that "secondary" characters have taken screen time from the main ones. Besides, those plots have been related to the main ones, they are there for a reason.

I hate to agree that it does kinda wander aimlessly. However, there is plentiful character development so I'm not that bored..but I do agree that plotting lacks or is slow. They need to do something quick so this season hits as hard as the first season. I can't really say that their has been a powerful memorable episode for me so far...

My God...I remember the 1st season I wasn'y onl on the shows bandwagon I was one of the ppl steering it. I even compared it to Sv, "Sv should do what Heroes does, etc.." now I am SHOCKED that my anticipation for the next episode of SV completely trumps that for Heroes. Its coming was incredibly boring to me and next episode barely lit a glint in my eye. The only reason I'm even still watching is because of Sylar, I like what they're doing with him and his abilities.

The first season of Heroes was the best for me. Each episode seemed to be better than the last. Season two had some good eps, but overall was a bit lackluster, especially considering it didn't even get a full season. Season three has been better than season two. The first four episodes were a bit slow. However, from episode 5 on, the season is really starting to pick up steam. The introduction of Arthur Patrelli, and Pinehurst has been great.

I never thought I would say this, but season eight has brought me back around to Smallville over Heroes. I am really pumped for Bride tomorrow. It looks like it may be one of the best eps ever done.

The first season was so great, I really was stunned by the whole storyline. But then came Season 2 and I was actually disappointed. There were a few good episodes but it was all kinda boring.. I think Season 3 is a bit better, but it's still not very intresting.

I was actually hooked onto heroes because of season 2. I loved the twists and turns involving Adam and the introduction of Maury. Season 3 seems to be starting to pick up, but so far I like where it's heading. I found season 1 a bit boring, but that's most likely because I've only seen bits and pieces and probably didn't understand it well.

Season 3 started off really slow. I was dissapointed with the first four episodes, but the resy have gotten better and better. Despite some glaring inconsistencies (the eclipse and this hunger bulls**t theyre feeding us) i find myself enjoying the season.

For the most part, this season has been completely idiotic storywise to me, and the character writing incredibly lame. Season 2 was WAY better than this. I can't believe I complained about it last year--S2's problems were so trivial (nitpicking) in comparison to the nonsensical mess they've crapped out this year. Rock bottom. Oh well, on the bright side, it has nowhere to go but up.

i just find heroes stupid at times. This is close to how I feel. To know exactly how I feel, just replace the "at times" in your sentence with a period. lol

Not this season. This season is all about plot over characters. For example, Mohinder injecting himself had nothing to do with Mohinder as a character. He's never showed even the tiniest bit of interest in having powers himself. Then there are new characters such as Arthur Petrelli, who are more walking plot devices than real characters.
