I too believe this is the greatest and most consistent season ever but, I'm still sad that Chloe doesn't know anymore.. I know it's supposed to be this way but I couldn't help but feel the overwhelming sense of being *alone*.. just as Kal-El.

The writing this season is just so freakin superb. Makes me hate that it took this long for those guys to take over....

You have a good filler for MR leaving - Tess

You have a great villain to come - DD. They are fleshing his story out perfectly. Origin believable, his looks are spot on, etc

You have a good plot to get Kara tied up and gone

Lana MIA and show is better for it

The main season arc is so intricate and perfectly drawn out. Clark gets sent into PZ by Brainiac, knowing Kal-EL will come back and give Zods wife a chance for escape. This happens, (while tying it in with Kara's plothole and giving her a good sendoff) and Zods wife kickstarts Davis into Doomsday.

Then you have the memory plot, which ties up 3 sotrylines. Gets rid of Chloe knowing Clarks secret (which in turns fulfills Superman continuity, makes Clark have to start dealing with problems without Chloe as a deus ex machina, and shows the side of Clark that he is willing to let Chloe be happy and protect her by stepping up to be a hero on his own), make sa bond between Davis and Chloe which has Davis now completely in love with her, making his "psychological break" into Doomday more likely, AND he knows Clark will take Chloiac to the Fortress (after rebuilding it) so that he can infect it and take it over.

How great of writing is that!

And we are ONLY at mid season. Half of this season has been better than the past 3 season of Sville combined. ANd we still have a legendary Superman writer coming in to pen the Legion episode, more Doomsday, etc.

It will be tragedy if Sville doesnt do season 9. And I was one ready to admit that the show needed to stop and move on after this season. Not so now

Smallville is the best! I can't believe we wasted a year with the crapfest that was season 7 when we could have had THIS! Last year I almost gave up on my favourite series, but now I can't have enough ot it!

Its just a great show with great characters and even greater villains, Doomsday is going to be awesome, better than any of tv shows villain like devil to saint to devil Sylar from heroes

I totally agree with you. To me, Superman returns was really bad:DThis season is full of good surprises, I must admit season 8 was so so. I enjoy a lot this year for sure !:)

yes I'm really excited about the writing this season. It's the best since season 3 or so IMO. Great continuity and they are moving the arc along real well. Most the episodes are building towards something and not fillers or focused on FOTWs like the old days. I could watch it for several more seasons at this level of quality. They haven't skipped a beat with losing Lex or Lana, they are doing well with the characters that are left, and they are doing great with the character development of Davis/Doomsday. I hope the viewers stick around and new viewers get on board.

Eh, not so much. This "Superman continuity" argument is starting to make me sick with the pointlessness of it.

Chloe needs her memory back, but it has been a great season.

Hey everybody, haven't logged on in forever but did today just to say that HOLY CRAP this season is now my 2nd favorite of them all (first was season 2). Like everybody else I was dissatisfied with the treatment of Lex's scripts last year and the awful (final?) send-off at the FOS. Knowing MR wouldn't be back (Lana, no big loss IMO) I would've bet real money that this season was going to suck..

However, 9 episodes in and every one has been extremely good! The writing is fantastic, they've given Clark a lot more to do and he's stepping it up in an amazing way. Can you imagine if MR comes back sometime this season for even one episode... in the hands of these new writers / producers? With MR's supreme acting talent? BRING IT ON!!

Great, great turnaround from last season, and maybe since season 4. :D
