Absolutely fantastic episode all around. From the Acting to the direction, editing, and FX. Did anyone get the vibe of the episode being inspired by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Especially when Chloe was losing her memories of Clark and was trying to hide him in another memory? Just like what went on with Joel trying to do with Clementine in Eternal Sunshine.

It seemed very much like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". I loved that movie and I loved this episode because it's such an emotional thing for someone to lose the memories of the ones they love.
Great drama.

It actually seemed much more like "The Forgotten" to me. Especially with the tractor being sucked up through the ceiling.

SuperFan, my husband got the same vibe! We're watching and he goes "wasn't this a movie?" I didn't get the reference until he told me, but I completely see the ESOTSM reference.
Smallville seems to love taking inspiration from movies for episodes (or certain parts of episodes)

That is exactly what I was thinking during the episode. I love that movie.

i think i mentioned this in a thread about the trailer.. especially with the part where jimmy's face disappears. Very ESOTSM. And they way she is running through the memories. Almost the same.

Yes. They totally copied that movie. But, IMO, that was such a great movie and a great effect that it deserves to be copied. Kind of like "bullet time" from the Matrix. Bullet time has become a standard special effect since the Matrix.

I liked this episode overall, but wasn't it kind of obvious that all the memory erasing sequences were obvious rip offs of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Especially the part where Chloe tried to drag her memory of Clark into other memories while everything is falling apart.
Other than that though, great episode, looks like Clark will no longer have a sidekick.
This changes the show rather drastically, I wonder what direction they're going to take it.

Totally agree, except I wouldn't call it a "rip-off"... maybe simply a homage? I'd like to believe that it was staged that way so that people would recognize the scene from the movie... it was a nice touch, but it is argueable.

I recognized the similarities in an instant! I Love ESOFSM so this episode is even better with references from that great movie.!! Loved specially when chloe was trying to hide Clark in another random memory..nice!
