Opinions, opinions, opinions. See, I don't think Chloe is a "brilliant investigator," and no one has provided enough evidence to make me believe otherwise. The whole "it is my opinion" argument doesn't work for me, or anyone else for that matter.
However, if Chloe had.. say.. made it past the basement in the Daily Planet, won a Pulitzer, or became known for actively going out on her own to uncover serious stories.. then I'd think about calling her a brilliant investigator. Smallville hasn't presented Chloe as a brilliant investigator, it has presented Chloe as a good sidekick, a good Google searcher, a good hacker. None of which describes what makes a brilliant investigator.
I do, however, believe Chloe once had what it took to become one, and she most definitely still does. She can be a brilliant investigator. She's shown so much potential over the past 7 years that I firmly believe that. But she isn't. "Brilliant" is a word that best describes the best, or close to. It doesn't describe someone who worked at the highschool paper, or the basement of the Daily Planet. Maybe someone who works near the top, but not someone who worked near the bottom.
I respect this opinion. My problem was with SupesComicFan stating "Chloe is NOT a brilliant investigator" as fact when there is clearly a lot of debate on this issue.
Also, can we not turn this into a Chloe vs. Lois debate? That is almost as irrelevant as comparing Chloe to Batman...

.
well the only time people begin to enforce the idea that this is just opinions is when they are being presented as facts, as they were
what you have said is entirely fair enough. what i have seen chloe do over the years has her IN MY EYES as a brilliant investigator, but i can see that your standards of the word brilliant are simply different
it's more a matter of semantics than anything...

So, I can't state Chloe is NOT a brilliant investigator, but another poster can say Chloe IS a brilliant investigator.
Ok. Double standard set and noted.\\
And isn't EVERYTHING anyone posts opinion? I thought that was a given.

personally i think you can state that... it's the highlighting of the word NOT that bothers me... it's as though you are forceful about the 'fact' of it... when actually it is entirely subjective
i know i responded the same way after that post, which i now think i shudnt have as your right, it does show double standards

It was the way in which you stated it that bugged me. Since it was a rebuttal to someone who said that she was a brilliant investigator, I felt that responding with what equates to "Nuh-uh" was disrespectful and below your usual standard of debating. In a later post you went on to elaborate, perhaps I should have read further before replying. But at the time it seemed like you were totally disrespecting the other person's opinion since you didn't bother to explain your P.O.V. I'm sure that wasn't your intent, but that's how it came across.
And no, not everything posted is an opinion. "Lana and Clark used to date" is a factual statement. I don't need to provide any evidence to back up that claim, because everyone knows it's true. The phrasing in your initial post resembled this kind of statement rather than one in which you acknowledge is an opinion.
There's no double standard. You can state whatever you want, but back it up immediately, otherwise it seems like you aren't really contributing much to the debate. Again, you did that later so I no longer have an issue, I'm just trying to explain why I did at the time.

I donīt think Clark mind-wiping was a good move or had anything to do with his progression on this show, because been there done that was all that Clark did, since I have watched Superman 2. I believe he had good intentions at heart, when he did that... but he will have to live with the consequences of that act ....

OMG PEOPLE ! stop saying stuff is fact when it is opinion ! this is ridiculous ! how about they be honest... don't like chloe because she is not cannon . thats what they really need to say. saying other people opinions don't count is just ignorant and argumentitive . i think someone needs to start reporting posts.
also clarks progression has nothing to do with his mind wipe of chloe. cl;ark has matured and has started using his life expirieneces to push him forward caring about the human race and his friendship with chloe does not hold him back she always encouraged him ! hello season five after clark lost his powers and chloe spoke to him about losing his powers ... CLARK DID NOT CARE.... chloe did. she knew how important he was .
clark held clark back. he is and was old enough to make his own choices no one held a gun to his head.
yes maybe he did go to chloe because maybe it was easier for him , maybe he liked depending on her . and lets all rememeber chloe was very good at reporting in high school she SACRIFICED for clark. if people are such superman fans why does that piss everyone off ?
what is wrong that she sacrificed her career to keep his secret and be there. wouldn't you help superman ? wouldn't you lend help to a friend in need. i guess this is a selfish generation where we bash people that do good for others cause it labels them as weak.
well if there was a smallville test there would be alot of lex luthors i guess.
chloe never had an alterior motive she helped clark out of loyalty and friendship and love and people want to say that clark and chloe's friendship ending pushes him towards being superman ? why cause she is not cannon ? im so over this debate that is shaded with ignorance.
you like comics , good ! smallville has altered the comics so i guess we all have to find a mutual respect for the show because it is neither mythos nor non mythos get it !
good will and peace to all this argument will never end so im out of it.

when i try to put myself in Clark's shoes, i get the urge to pout and wrinkle my forehead. he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders, and he has done for years. but i think it's starting to affect his judgement... because not everything is some heavy decision he has to make, some big sacrifice he has to make. and this needen't have been. there was no immediacy to the danger... he just thought 'well, while i'm here i guess i could get rid of that worry'... which seems incredibly defeatist to me
when i put myself in Chloe's shoes, i feel angry. and when she finds out, i'm hoping i will get the Chloe i love back, because how can you idolise and worship a hero that would do that to you? i'm hoping she will take a step back and find her own way to affect the world... as far away from him as possible
