You can Vote for two choices.
Erica not only got to play Lois tonight but the kryptonian baddie Faora (Zod's Wife) So what did you think of her performance tonight? Which did you like more?
I absolutely loved Erica in tonight's episode. She rocked as both Lois and Faora. I love how Erica acted as Faora. Totally different and awesome from what she does with Lois. IMO her performance was excellent tonight. I think I liked Faora more since this is the first time we get to see Erica with superpowers. Really loved her scenes with Clark when she was possessed. Excellent job once again, Erica

Does anybody notice from time to time, how similar Tess & Lois look?
It's not all of the time, but on occasion they resemble each other quite a bit.

I always love Erica as Lois.
She did a wonderful job playing Faora and I got to see a different side of her acting abilities and so Faora got my vote.

She did awesome in both roles. I thought she played Faora awesomely, showing the warmth or lack there of that Faora would show. I almost felt a channeling of early Lionel Luthor, in the whole "what kills you makes you stronger, my son" line. (I miss JG :() I also thought her reactions toward Clark are consistant w/ the arc they are going with this season. Yes, she went hysterical when she first landed in the PZ, but who wouldn't? She showed her feelings toward Clark and her loyalty to him. Loved it all.

I thought that Erica did a spectacular job in tonight's episode! Her portrayal of Faora was particularly impressive. I've really enjoyed her performance this season (that's not to say that I haven't always enjoyed her), but I think that this 8th season has been, overall, the best and most well crafted season in the last three years. And that is in no small part IMO due to Erica's increased involvement with the show and the progression of the Superman mythos/storyline.

Erica looked really amazing in this episode, not that she doesn't always look that way, but this one was truly outstanding! She was awesome with her acting and only keeps getting better and better, especially now that they are giving her more to do. I hope they keep her in all of the rest of season 8 now!

Erica was great this episode, but what really stood out to me was the scene in the hospital when Faora first sees her "son". You could really see a maternal side coming out, the look of pride when she thought Davis was responsible for all of the "carnage", the tears of pride welling up was great.
Erica is really improving as the seasons unfold and tonight was her best yet in my opinion!!
Keep up the great work.

the girl is going from strength to strength she showed us vulnerable lois and was able to switch to evil sexy confident faora she is getting the breaks this year to show us that she can act. go erica!!!!

I don't know if they look similar, but I think they do have a similar build and height. I like that, because when they go up against each other, they look each other in the eye.
I was reading a review on another site and the reviewer pointed something out that I thought was pretty interesting. She has a theory that they've set Tess up to the "Dark Lois" of the series. Some of the lines she says are direct indication of this. For example, when Ollie broke up with her, Tess became darker... and she makes a crack like, "What did you expect me to do? Sit at home and eat ice cream?" That's interesting because that's EXACTLY what Lois did.
So, this reviewer basically sees Tess as who Lois would become if she decided to embrace her dark side.

I agree... and can I also say that I was cracking up that she was proud of him killing people... and then became annoyed that he was HELPING people? :rotfl:
I think that was definitely not an easy sort of role to pull off and she did it well. One of the things I loved about Faora was that she wasn't a "sexy" sort of possession. Too often, "SV" goes the "ultra-sexy with no inhibitions" route when to the possession bag. This time, I wasn't icked by her... Faora actually scared me. Like... OMG, if she took over the world, we're all screwed!!

This has to be one of the finest one-shot performances of this series; I was totally BLOWN-AWAY by what she did as Faora. She is usually excellent (if not somewhat mannered) as Lois, but still delivers week after week, but her last nite's "other" performance was off-the-charts! I used to think Allison Mack, hands down, was the finest actor on this show, closely followed by Mike Rosenbaum, Annette O'Toole and John Glover; Erica Durance has joined that list, and should be VERY proud of what she's done. Brava!!

I agree with that last bit too, in previous posession/transferrance episodes all the character does is put on some black leather and grin like a loony.
Personally I think there were 3 performances from Erica last night. Normal Lois at the start and end, crazy alien lady Lois (which was awesome) and then in the Phantom Zone there was a completely different Lois. I know nearly every week Lois gets into some sort of trouble but she always keeps her guard up and tries her best to get out of it. Last night however she found herself completely out of her depth and in a situation she knew she couldn't handle. We saw a vulnerable and scared Lois but still an extremely brave Lois. She needed Clarks help and reassurance but at the same time didn't look at all like a damsel in distress. Also her determination not to leave Clark and to go back for him was brilliant too.
All in all one of the best Lois episodes ever if not THE best Lois episode.

Someone pointed out of DI that as soon as Lois was possessed by Faora she played everything right handed i.e. She strangled Clark with her right hand instead of her left one..
For those of you who don't know Erica Durance is left handed and so she plays Lois as a lefty too (which makes me happy because I'm a lefty ;))...Any way I just thought that was a subtle/brilliant way to show that Lois was no where to be seen while she was possessed..Along with all the other fantastic things Erica did during her performance :)

Wow Erica was amazing on bloodline from the very beginning to the end!!
She was awesome, and I like her reaction to being on the phantom zone, and her reasoning at being abducted by aliens, that was so accurate and hilarious, loved that vulnerable side of hers.
And Faora was like completely genius GORGEOUS BUT CREEPY AT THE SAME TIME!!
She scared me! It was very mature and fem fatale like of hers. And the way she scared Tess shitless was divine!
She played a great kryptonian woman, and she was more scary than Zod, I laugh when Zod possessed Lex, but Lois she was damn evil and scary!
And you gotta love Erica for the way she portrait Lois I was soo peeing myself at the end when she told Clark about her raise! and "Because I'm ME" Line!!
This is the best season ever!!

I knew she was left handed but i didn't notice the Faora right handed thing which is strange cuz i was just watching spell and i noticed that even as a witch she casted her spells with her left hand. Well spotted to whoever it was.
Also, and I could be wrong here but I don't think she blinks as Faora either. I've been rewatching it to try and see if I'm right. I'm pretty sure she doesn't.

I've thought highly of Erica's performances as Lois anyway, so it's no surprise that I though that she rocked once again as the divine Miss L. But her performance as Faora was something special. Not only because she did such a brilliant job of expunging Lois from her posture, her movements and her voice (compare this with Michael Rosenbaum's "I'll just play Zod as a version of Lex" performance in Zod), but because there were moments where she became the creepiest incarnation of maternal obsession I've seen since Diana Rigg's BAFTA award-winning portrayal of the insanely jealous and overprotective Helena Vesey in the BBC's blackly-comic thriller "Mother Love". Hopefully, Erica will get more chances to show what she is capable of during the rest of the season.

Ain't no Oscars for TV, it's the Emmy.....and I've thought SV should have been nominated for many Emmys for the actors during the history of the show. It rocks! ;)
She played the part very well and believably, Mrs. Zod, that is.
Yeah she did! I was quite surprised! Cause frankly as good as actress as she is, I still don't buy her as Lois Lane, ace reporter for th DP, future wife of Clark Kent/Superman at times, but she played Faora perfectly! Good for Erica!

11-07-2008, 09:34 PM
Her performance was spectacular both as Faora and Lois. Faora was beyond creepy, very understated and almost still. She gave the impression of being very dangerous. I stopped watching this show some time ago. It got a bit too teeny soap opera-ish for me but have been impressed by the writing and the care this season. This always helps an actor. They believe in what they are doing.
I've enjoyed her portrayal of Lois this season. Perhaps because she is one of the warmest and tad bit more vulnerable Lois' I've seen in live action format. The Superman myth has been a part of my life for several decades and she is definitely my favorite Lois. She has all the negative characteristics of the character but with something wonderful underneath that is sometimes lacking in the way the character has been written and/or portrayed in film and TV.

Wow! Erica did an amazing job in this episode. I've always enjoyed her wonderful performances as Lois Lane. This episode showed such RANGE. She started off the episode with playful on-the-farm banter with Clark and then played something new for Lois in the phantom zone: panic and desperation. I've never seen Lois that afraid.
Then her transition into Faora was simply seamless. Erica did a wonderful job creating a completely different character. As other posters have already said, her vocal, her physical were just... completely unique to the character. It was amazing. Lois has so much physical energy. She rarely stands still. But Faora was very still. Her physical was so quiet. It really seemed that she held an immense amount of power in check.
So much fun. And the way she really went for it with Davis and really played the creepy mother to him so well. His reactions to her behavior were hilarious also. But I really forgot all about Lois and only saw Faora after a while. It really seemed that she was wearing Lois' body.

I thought she was wonderful, but then I am an ED fan. I have really enjoyed the way she portrays Lois. I like the fact that she can make Lois both obnoxious and appealing at the same time. She makes Lois a believable character, not some ivory goddess like Lana, but a woman with character flaws and vulnerabilities who is still ultimately appealing (and how NICE to see Clark finally noticing!!)
At first, the PZ scene bothered me. But then as I watched, I realized the PZ was designed to show that Lois is strong enough to handle knowing Clark's secret. When I went back and rewatched it, the person in the PZ who was showing their emotional attachment was Clark. How nice to see the fear on his face when he looked down and saw Lois lying on the ground. Even better when he convinced her to go with Kara and they did the long look back at each other. But I am getting off topic...
ED played Faora so well. It was a different walk, a different set of expressions, a different voice, even hair! I was utterly convinced that, sick though she was, she genuinely has a mother's love for her son. Somehow that made her scene with DB even more creepy. And that scene, was a highlight for me. Although, seeing her act with TW as Faora was also awesome (and I got a cheap thrill from the straddling of the Clark man on the fire truck. So what? I get cheap thrills, sue me.)
ED has only begun to show her acting chops. I hope they continue to allow her some room to develop Lois and reveal her softer side as well as her strengths. But I am crossing my fingers that we do not revisit the Lana thing though and end up with another Countess Margarite Isabel Aunt Jemima Jones Thoreau okay?
Erica Durance was unbelievable! She was flawless! The line (before she pushed Clark) is now stuck in my head, the way she presented it WOW! and her voiceeee! Gosh! haha :)
I wish her all the best in her acting career.

Totally agree, it didnt even sound like Erica Durance's normal voice let alone Lois' lol it was like some strange woman in Erica's skin too. It was so creepy and cold, and she managed to make herself look cold and dead on the inside, It really was as if some strange alien body was walking around in a human's skin absoultely amazing.
Outstanding actress and very underrated. She needs to be in more movies...ASAP!!
She's been given the actual time to shine this season and she's running with it
She's the main thing which carries the episodes these days for me. Acting circles ar5ound everyone

I'll admit that I was skeptical of Erica's acting when she first joined the cast. She annoyed me a bit and I figured her acting "talent" was based more in how she filled out a blouse than how she performed on screen. She has really stepped it up this season. I loved her performance in Committed, but she blew me away in Bloodline. She had three distinct personas that she had to play convincing in one episode: the normal sassy Lois, the "freaked out" Lois in the Phantom Zone, and of course, Mrs. Zod. She played the part of Faora so well; different voice inflections, different demeanor, different mannerisms. Very convincing job that she really was two different characters. As Faora, she really did remind me of a female version of Zod - no ranting, no raving (like we would normally associate with her Lois characterization), just a very cool, calm and collected killer that is dedicated to her mission.
Her acting has just improved so much. And she's still smokin'.....

I think she's never really shone before because she's never been given the chance. This season she's been given proper storylines and has been allowed to show what she's capable of. In the past there's only been a few episodes that have required her to do more than her mouthy Lois role. I don't remember the name of the episode but the one when chloe was posessed or something by the girl in the wall???? In that episode Lois had a bit more to do, showing a bit of emotion and then Siren aswell where she realised Oliver was the Green Arrow but other than that she's never had much to do.
If they people at the CW could go back in time I bet they's change things from season 4 onwards. I mean this year Lois has been brought forward a bit more and made more of a main character and they've started the Lois/Clark relationship too and by all accounts this is the best season.

I loved her as Lois and Faora in this episode. She pulled off both characters amazingly. She's a great actress. She just proved once again how good she is tonight, she pulled off two completly different characters. I also loved the way she kind of changed the tone of her voice while she was acting as Faora, I thought that was a nice touch. I love Erica Durance, episodes like this remind me why she's my favorite actress on the show. She's awesome.

Ok, I have said repeatedly that I don't like ED as an actress, think she is really bad at it, wish she wasn't brought onto the show etc. etc., but after her performance as Faora, I have to say I was wrong. I absolutely loved her portrayal. LOVED IT! and I really hope the writers give her some more opportunities to play out of character so we can see what else she can do.

I was very surprised as to how good she was as Faora.
Her posture, look and voice was completely different from when she portrays Lois.
The styling was very effective as well..she looked much older, mature and sophisticated.
Thumbs up for Erica!

I thought she was awesome at everything, she was evil and sexy as Faora, you almost believed she loved her son. As Lois she rocked as always, the way she showed her love for Clark, was so caring and didn't want to leave him. I just don't know how he doesn't realize lol, also at the end she was funny and kinda went back to her trying to hide her feelings for him. I am going to miss her after Bride episode, she won't be in none of those episodes, three episodes man...I hope she is in 8/14

he does "I was you're knight in shining armor?";)
he knows it was all 100% real and not a make believe fantasy of hers. She can try hide it all she wants but this time theres nothing there in his mind to really question that comment.

Erica was wonderful. I liked how she altered the cadence of her voice. It felt really alien and cool!

Now I am not a Lois fan (SV, movies, comics, any of them), I have to say that straight off. But Erica was terrific in this episode, particularly as Faora. Creepy, yet not completely evil, powerful and in control she was fantastic. My respect for both Erica as an actress and Lois as a character jumped after Bloodline.

Erica's performance was very creepy awesome. Lois has been a blast to watch this season but her Faora was amazing. I almost didn't think it was Erica at all. This season is awesome, get these writers to do a batman or superman series cuz they know how to make a super hero story great.

Tonight was a great episode for Erica because she had many different roles to fill...
First of all she played the Snarky Lois to perfection as she always does. THen the moment the crystal arrived and weird stuff started happening, her countenance dropped in fear and her role switched. She's still lois, but another side of lois.
In the phantom zone she got to play that out even more and show how much she really respects and trust clark. When the chips are down she doesn't have control anymore. Erica did this brilliantly.
And lastly, she also acted out feora. The cold, abrupt alien. Feora is difficult because erica had to act as though she desperately cared about her son and didn't think twice about anyone else. Erica nailed it
In every aspect of tonight's episode, erica nailed it.
----- Added 2 Minutes later -----
My favorite line: "Because I'm me. Helloo..."
Erica delivered this so well! She has great comic timing..

I think she really pulled it off well. I guess she is a better actress then I thought.
It's one of the best performances I've seen yet in regards of a character switching bodies with someone else. She's done the body switching thing before, when she was a witch, and she stepped it up in "Bloodline" for sure.

I think she was amazing as always in this episode. The scene where she says to Davis that she is his mother is the best.
