Good luck finding Kandor...and plz come back to smallville once in awhile! But AHHH u just CAME BACK on earth, y can't u juz stay for abit :(
Will she ever come back.................? I hope Smallville gives her one more episode, I'm sooo mad coz the director can't even give her a few more episodes like c'mon!! Freaking Lana gets like 5-6 episodes (that's not fair!) :( But *sob* ah well, glad to see that gorgeous babyface one last time!! :\:o

True, but...
it reminded me a lot of "Superman Returns" when Superman went to go see if Krypton was still there.
In the comics, they found Kandor/Krypton survivors, as someone else mentioned, around the time when Jonathan Kent died I believe.

I will miss her, not terribly not more than I miss Lex for sure, but she was a cool character and family for Clark :) I liked how they closed her story, left her in a good place and Clark as well, it showed he loves her. Also, I think it leaves the door open for her to maybe come back, who knows...the future could bring other surprises hehe.

I wish they'd actually said the word "Goodbye" to each other. Kara just took off, and it's likely the last time we'll ever see her.
Other than that, it was a great scene. Clark's gonna miss her! Aww. It was such a glorious sight to see Supergirl leaving the show, flying away into the night sky (although the last part of it was recycled from Cure). :)

OMGOD of course im going to miss kara
even clark took the words out of my mouth when he said that with kara, he actually feels he has family. and thats the only REAL (blood) family he has left. having a computer dad, and a replicated dna chromsomes or wtv of ur uncle and mom doesn't really count as the real deal when therye standing there in front of you in real life, and not a hologram or a voice. i dont mean to sound harsh but kara does make superman feel more at home and understand more about his family heritage

Not just the word GOodbYe but at least maybe have a special farewell nite?! Like have one last family dinner, maybe a dinner w/ herself Clark and Martha and at least introduce Kara to Martha (I think that's important!! C'mon wouldn't Martha be shocked if she knew Clark has a kryptonian cousin?!).

So what if it did. I'm sure that they will look it up to see if it has any relation to the comics. I think that it was good that they mentioned it. I do hope we see her again. But at the very least, at least they brought her back to give her an ending. Although I thought it would have been a little longer.

I'm not going to miss her, but I do believe Laura got the short end of the stick, and I don't believe that this episode was a fitting exit for her. She was hardly even in it, and that sucks. But her last scene with Clark was very touching.

i wont miss her. all she was on the show for was to be a plot device. good riddance i say. She shows up again only to leave...again. wtf is the point of bringing her on the how if thats all she was used to do? there were other ways for Clark to learn more about krypton other than her.

I thought it was a great ending for Kara. And her part in this episode was right. It was a nice touch that Clark didn't know where she had been. He didn't know she was in the Phantom Zone until he found her there with Lois. Then she left to find Kandor. But wouldn't she need a space ship? Still it's understandable she left. She didn't grow up on Earth and misses her Kryptonian life and other Kryptonians.

I liked her okay, but I didn't think she was really essential to Smallville, so no I won't 'miss' her. I did really like her in "Bloodline" however. She was really cool, and the scene between her and Clark was heartfelt. Not to mention, the flying shot. Very nice.

*sniffle* Kara! Noooo!
I'll miss her, she was awesome. I didn't think I'd like her that much in the begining, (Actually, I didn't. She grew on me.), but I now really do. And now she's gone from SV. I wish they hadn't taken her away, but I guess the majority of the fandom wasn't that impressed with her or something. Or maybe the writers thought it was time for her to leave? Ugh, whatever the reason is, I really hate it. She could've at least stayed on a few more episodes before flying off into the night.
I thought her send off was appropriate yet simple. I mean, there are only so many ways you can make a character leave, you know? (Besides, I shed a couple tears. Even if
that "you'll always be near my heart line" was bit corny and clich'e, it was sweet.)
Of course, what I wanna know is why Clark wasn't looking for her before this. (I mean, he tried at first, but then it fizzled out. For what? So he could go get a job at the DP...as a copy boy. Lame.) You'd think he would've tried a bit harder then he did instead of just leaving her in the stinkin' phantom zone.

Someone mentioned the possibility of Kryptonian survivors in another thread, so maybe Kara is trying to see if her mother (Allura) is still alive (perhaps in a state of suspended animation). If so, then it's a question of who will portray Allura (maybe Mariel Hemingway, especially since she was in Superman IV). If they don't have Allura, then they might mention her. According to one version from the comics, Allura was from the planet Argos, so Kara might go there (and possibly have relatives there as well).

I have to apologize in advance to all the Laura fans; but, i won't miss her. This is Clark's time to come into his own as a super hero and I am enjoying seeing that come to fruition this season. I might feel differently if her character had been handled better or if she didn't detract from Clark.

I thought the Kandor "excuse" was great. What a great reason to be absent from Kal-EL's life. In comics, all surviving Kryptonians seek Kandor as it is the closest thing to their destroyed home (actually being a piece of home!). Plus it was great continuity given that Kandor was in the flashbacks and memories and it being her hometown.

Maybe, she did leave to search for Kandor at all. I'm more into your suggestion about Kara taking a job for Oliver. Perheps, she just pretended to leave Earth, to search for Kandor, in order to get her annoying cousin of her back. Instead, she took off to Midvale and assumed the identity of Linda Danvers (which Oliver set up for her).
Goodbye LV. Hope to see you back soon.

I will most definitely miss her. She was my favorite thing about season 7 and I was mad as hell when she wasn't on this season til now. I miss her already. You have to think though that the creators realize that her character has gained popularity. I mean they'd have to be braindead to not notice that. Just like how Oliver/Green Arrow gained popularity, so did our little Supergirl. The reason I heard she wasn't on the cast this season was cause in a way her char was kinda overshadowing Clark. They need a spin-off with her. Screw trying to make "The Graysons" give us a Supergirl spinoff or Green Arrow/Justice League spinoff. And though it was a better send off then leaving her in the Phantom Zone, I have to say this: BRING BACK KARA!!!!

Yes I'll miss her, although actually I missed her even when Laura Vandervoort technically was a member of the cast. About all they ever did was turn her into a stereotyped female victim; a helpless amnesiac, later missing somewhere on Krypton's past with Brainiac and finally missing in the Phantom Zone. Kara was supposed to be Supergirl and she hardly ever got to be super.
And please don't tell me that she couldn't stay because she'd overshadow Clark. All Smallville had to do was make her the sidekick. The roles of lead hero and sidekick were worled out as long ago as the Lone Ranger program in the 1930s.
The goodbye scene was terrible. They had Kara make an "I'm not worthy" speech that was like any Hollwood movie in which the female lead gives up on her potential and prospects for the sake of a man.
The other option would be a Supergirl spinoff but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it. The CW and Smallville still seems too immersed in the Hollywood culture in which strong women are bad, good women are victims and only men can be heroes. So much as I would like to see a Supergirl spinoff I don't expect one from the CW/Smallville since they seem incapable of making a sustained effort to present a female hero. The best they can do is a little dabbling here and there.
So I have had it with Smallville and its bait and switch game. Enough is enough.

It was a reasonable way to write Kara out of the show, which they had to do. She competes with Clark's journey. While taking off into space on a wild goose chase instead of helping Clark is a bit silly, it was better than leaving her in the Phantom Zone.

CORNY is how I'd put the end of Kara's run on Smallville. I mean, she is Supergirl, after all, and deserved a better exit than going off on some blind pilgrimage to find Kandor. That's as lame as having AC, Victor and Bart on "dummy missions" around the globe while all of the action is in Smallville.
Plus, Kara never taught Clark how to fly! Damn!

Well i would like to take this opportunity to thank Laura Vandervoort for her contribution this past year. She wasn't the most accomplished actor in the show and she wasn't given the best material to work with but nonetheless she put a lot of effort in her scenes. In a recent interview she said that when she heard they weren't bringing her back, she asked what she did wrong. That showed me that she took her job very seriously and that she is a very good hearted person. While her character won't be missed(the show is about Superman) her positive thinking will.On the plus side,at least she got a decent send off.Michael Rosenbaum is still waiting for his.

Kandor is indeed bottled -- or rather, it was until very recently. I'm fairly sure it was bottled and shrunk by Brainiac in modern continuity (as it was in the Silver Age). The city was just recently returned to full-size, along with its 100,000 Kryptonian residents, in the comics.
And, of course, Kara Zor-L (Power Girl) and Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) were in Kandor during the Supergirl's One Year Later storyline after Infinite Crisis.

You forget the pre 2007-2008 season "Supergirl is coming" publicity. But she rarely got to do anything super.
Another example of an empty promise was, I believe for episode 15 of last year that we'd see Kara teaching Clark how to fly. But all we got out of that was maybe 30 seconds of dialogue. That's an example of where Kara's presence could have led to a lot of entertainment.
Instead she's gone. It's a awful mistake.

you may want to look through the episodes. She stopped a nuclear explosion with her breasts, she defeated 3 crazed krypto freak beauty pageant contestants (saving clarks life in the process), she saved clark's life after he was put in the kryptonite cage, she helped battle brainiac on krypton etc... In her one episode alone she stayed in a hellhole to protect the human race from the phantoms and she got faora out of lois (although it really should have been the other way around, kara should have fought Faora and clark should have got the crystal for j'onn. I don't like clark trying to beat a woman although in the end he pretty much took the punches it could have been more epic for kara and faora to cut loose)

i thought it was a good way for her to get lost LOL, i was surprised when she said she heard kandor might be still out there and she's going to find it, striaght from the comics :-). I was satisfied with her ending.

Well except for the part in which you said she won't be missed (because she will to me and to others I'm sure), I agree with what you said :)
she do have a good heart, she did try her best and I hope that because of that her career will just get better and better ;)

Well actually i think kara is coming back, if everyone listen to what she was saying, she is trying to rebuild their home planet, so there is a chance she will come back.

Thought that Kandor reference was very cool.
They finally use Kara correctly on this show and now she's gone. Bah!
ITA I didnt like the way she was portrayed last season but then in this one episode they used her correctly but then they make her leave  If they are gonna write her like that bring her back dammit:\

To be honest, I kind of thought Kara was a little bit rubbish last season. I thought Laura Vandervoort's acting could've been better and there were a lot of wasted plot and acting opportunities (e.g. in Apocolypse she could've completely knocked it out of the park with her role but it was a little flat). HOWEVER, I thought Kara was awesome in Bloodline, she was much more grown up, tough, and likeable. I will be sad if she doesn't come back for an episode or two before the end of the season, especially considering this is probably the last season.

You did? Guess you're right about the great minds thing. :)
I would much prefer that over "The Graysons."

Hi! You two are so right! Definitely a series about Kara in Kandor! Oh! Oh! That alternate reality in the Supergirl comics where Kal-El is a cruel dictator!! Yeah that'll rock!!!!

I will miss her, but I agree with the writers that she takes the focus off Clark's journey. I think they did a good job with her departure, and we may even see her agani!

The goodbye scene was very good. I liked the way she flew away. The SFX were very nice this time.
They left the door open for Kara's return. If TBTB go for a ninth season we might see her again...

I'm gonna miss her! Hopefully she will return for an episode in season 9.

Again...posted this two other places, but posting it here as well because I wanted to respond to this poll question. Hopefully that's not breaking any rules. I'm new here.
All in all I thought this was a good episode and a decent, thoughtful farewell to Kara/Laura Vandervoort. I'm glad we finally got to see the recaps acknowledging her presence last season as any new viewers who jumped on this season would have had no idea she was ever on the show. I'm glad Lois and Chloe both recognized and remembered Kara, but it still remains unexplained why she hadn't been mentioned up until this point. Although Lois' "oh my god Kara...you've been abducted too?" comment kind of made me chuckle. Maybe Lois was the only one all along noticing that Clark's cousin had vanished w/out a trace.
I liked how Kara somewhat "burned" Clark with her "the same thing that would have happened to you if you had spent more than one day here" comment kind of implying what I'm sure all us Kara fans have been thinking: "Where the heck have you been and why the heck haven't you been looking for your only living blood relative?". Aside from that moment, I thought the scenes between the two were touching...especially when Clark begged her not to stay and die in the phantom zone (yes, I too am raising my hand to say I also feared she would be left to die in the phantom zone). I almost teared up at the end, when they said goodbye.
I think what we have had here on Smallville in regard to Kara mirrors Supergirl's situation in the comics prior and up to CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (back in 1985 for any non-comics fans)...in that it was felt by a vocal group of fans and writers that Supergirl's treatment up to CRISIS was just shoddy (and damaging Superman) and that it was her death in CRISIS #7 that many fans lamented as being "the best Supergirl story they'd ever read." I say that because I've read the comments on here from viewers who admitted to not liking her at all during Season 7 but saying this was her best episode yet.
Now...while the ending was heartwarming and respectful to Kara/Laura Vandervoort (and, yes, I too appreciated the nod to Kandor), I would've preferred an ending that really gave us closure and explained how she remains a teenager when Clark becomes Superman. As many others have stated, I think letting Laura Vandervoort stay on through the Legion episode could have provided for that (i.e. she ends up going into the future with them). In lieu of that, I think the perfect resolution would have been to take a page out of Peter David's "Many Happy Returns" from his SUPERGIRL run: have it be revealed Kara's arrival in Smallville was due to her rocket being diverted from her true timeline (where it arrives later in Clark's adult life) and that Kara must go back to that original timeline to die in the CRISIS to save the universe. Of course, that would require some Smallville-esque tweaking of the Spectre and the Fatalist (the two cosmic characters in the "Many Happy Returns" storyline responsible for misplacing and then returning the original Kara to her timeline). But if they can do it for Doomsday, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and now the Legion, they can do it for the Spectre. With that said, my opinion is that the ratings spike with this episode and the closure necessary to reconcile Kara's current appearance with her age when Clark becomes Superman absolutely necessitates at least another appearance by Laura Vandervoort. Let's hope the producers took note.

you may want to look through the episodes. She stopped a nuclear explosion with her breasts, she defeated 3 crazed krypto freak beauty pageant contestants (saving clarks life in the process), she saved clark's life after he was put in the kryptonite cage, she helped battle brainiac on krypton etc... I don't like clark trying to beat a woman although in the end he pretty much took the punches it could have been more epic for kara and faora to cut loose)
I'm aware of all these things. But much of season 7 either had "Kara has amnesia and is powerless" or "Kara is missing" as part of the plot. We'd go weeks before she'd be allowed to do something or even see her. That's what I don't like about the questionable treatment of this character.

How is she gonna look for Kandor without a ship to fly in? She cant survive in space once she leaves the reach of the yellow sun certainly cant travel between galaxies, any explantation to this?

She'll probably head to a more advanced planet within range of a yellow sun. My bet is Rann or Thanagar.

I don't think we've seen the last of Kara... Then again I didn't think we'd seen the last of Martha either!! lol
With season nine officially on the horizon, I think that if Vandervoort is in the right place at the right time, she'll once again become a main character.

1) Tom still has to officially sign and 2) the CW still has to pick it up.
