Okay , I like the concept of superman, a being from another planet with tremendous gravity would be stronger. Its a great concept.
But this possessions, I don't like them.
A human body could not withstand the physical stress of lifting and running at superspeeds, it makes no sense.
I realize that this is nitpicking but Zod's actual wife would be so much greater.
I do not like lois possession.

Doesn't matter, Lois looks hot in that Zod's wife personality.

When you get possessed, you automatically evolve through the power of the TV into a triple helixed being... So your body becomes alien.

Since when was a Kryptonian power, having your disembodied spirit be able to possess people, and alter their DNA to make them into Kryptonians, only to be able to be defeated by a crystal, that Kryptonians who are good guys, are somehow immune to?

I understand that the whole possession concept has been done over and over again on Smallville, but this one at least pushed major storylines forward, particularly with Doomsday. TPTB could've done a filler episode, but this one was anything but that.

You're right. No other human who was ever possessed by a phantom had powers. Lex needed to have his body modified to have powers. He got the powers before he was possessed. So if Zod's phantom didn't grant Lex powers (Brainiac's serum did), why would Zod's wife's phantom grant Lois powers?
I like the direction of this season and enjoyed Bloodline a lot, but I want them to stop with this possession thing. They could have easily hired an actress to play Zod's wife. Why did she have to be a phantom?

Don't forget the first phantom, the one that killed Raya. It gave its host powers.
It makes sense for Faora to be a phantom. Surely she was his second-in-command, so they received the same sentence. Simple.

Oh yeah, Baern. But he wasn't a Kryptonian. Zod was and not even his phantom alone could grant Lex powers.
They should get rid of the phantoms. They're boring. Clark always beats them the same old way.

I don't think we have to worry about phantoms anymore. I'm pretty sure Faora was the only 1 that made it out..

yeah, i usually don't either, but a couple episodes did it very well.
"trandference", "bloodline" and "vessel/zod".
It was okay. A little different but acceptable. Transference was better imo but I can't say anything bad about this episode, it simply rocked!

The reason Lex had his body modified was so it could stand having the powers and not have heart failure like Jonathan Kent.

The "vessel" must be prepared.
I was thinking about that. It was strange that Lex has to be prepared yet others didn't.
It seems in all other cases since Zod the phantom didn't care that their hoast (vessel) might eventually suffer heart failure they'd just take another hoast when the time comes.

The Phantom thing did bother me and I sympathize with you. I hope they never, EVER decide to use that ridiculous ploy again. The only reason I tried not to complain about it was because it moved the story forward but it was the only thing that really urked me about the episode.

:( does this mean Lois is going to have heart trouble down the road?

I know that. But the facts point out that the modification, not Zod's phantom, gave him the powers. He was super Lex before he was Zod. Other than boosted strength, the Bizarro phantom did not have superspeed or other powers until he got a Kryptonian body.
Maybe we can come to a conclusion that the modification Lex experienced gave him powers as a side effect & that with or without it he would have had superpowers once Zod possessed him. But one thing that they probably won't show is Lois having heart/health problems because of the possession, which would create an inconsistency between Lex's possession by Zod & Lois' possession by Faora.
