Best episode out of the season.

LOVED EVERYTHING!

I LOVED how Kara told Clark he has to save the world on his own...she can't interfere in his life anymore. It was a bitter sweet moment between them.

Lois as Faora...AMAZING! DAMN can Erica ACT GOOD! I got goosebumps how brilliantly evil she was.

The ending with Doomsday...amazing!

Chloe intervening to save Clark/Kara..AMAZING!

LOVED the special effects..FINALLY they are all back!!

It was exhilarating. Nuff' said.

I liked at the end when Davis/Doomsday walked into the empty hospital room and tried to stab himself. That was a great scene. I also liked how they cleared up everything involving his origins.

"No one messes with Lois and Clark." (CK to LL in the Phantom Zone). What a great episode richly deserving of a rating of 10! The weaving of the Superman myth into a modern day interpretation continues unabated with great success. Love the origin of Doomsday. What is great about this season is how the writers are able to make us care so deeply about these characters. I really enjoyed the previous seven seasons but this year, these characters have depth. Even Kara has lost the comic book, cardboard characterization she had last year. Tom Welling has brought some real strength to Clark Kent, and we all haved to worry about what's happening to Chloe. Anyone else noted the cool music this season? Smallville takes itself seriously.

By the way, there is a great article about why Smallville succeeds and Heroes fails. Kudos to Smallville for reinventing itself. Please, please, please, let's have Season 9.

Continuity, plot advancement, foreshadowing, and some GA action to boot, this is one of the BEST episodes this season, but virtually all of the season 8 episodes were at worst good, and some absolutely incredible. "Bloodline" falls into the latter [incredible] category.

I didn't like how

- easily Lois dismissed her adventure to the PZ.
- little Kara there was considering this could be her last episode ever.
- the end fight was too easy.
- Ollie seems to live in his jet.

Other than that, great episode. Big advancements in Davis's and Tess's storylines, nice surprises, good humor, and suspense.

I gave it an eight. It was pretty good. I just wish there would've been a scene like there would have been had Feora no been inhabiting Lois. Clark came in looking like he was going to be relieved she was alright and that there was going to be a special moment with them. But overall, pretty good episode. I'm hoping that Lois does move to the farm with Clark, though. I got excited right at the beginning when she said she was moving in, only to have it ripped away. That must be one hell of a raise she's getting that she can suddenly afford her own place.

I also really liked the scene of Lois and Clark walking around the PZ. I was hoping Lois was going to take the opportunity to tell Clark how she felt when she was thinking that they were going to die. But the line, "No one is going to mess with Lois and Clark" was very good.

It was a fantastic episode.

- Chloe was awesome. I'm very intrigued by what's going on with her...

- Clark was Supermanly and just so great.

- GREEN ARROW!! Loved every scene JH was in... he turned on all his charm.

- Loved the GA/Chloe interaction. It was fantastic... I've been waiting to see the two of them work together, instead of just hearing about it.

- Clois... was awesome.

- Lois was just great... I loved her as Lois Lane (so loyal and loving) and as Faora.

- Learned more about Doomsday... they're moving along with his story very well.

- Kara was on-point and perfect in this episode. Great idea taking a page out of "Superman Returns" to give a good reason to have her out of the series.

Overall... just perfect. I give it a 10.

I am a def leppard fan. So having the def leppard line and seeing their album High and Dry in Clarks hands kind of made me squeel LOL.

On a more serious note i liked Chloe and Tess show down in the kent farm.
I liked Chloe channeling the brainiac in her.
I liked Oliver and clark scene at the end. Although it seems that Oliver is more conserned about chloe then clark is.
Doomsday ending scene was cool.. excited to see more to come out of that.

Wasnt too fond of the whole fiona story line and taking over lois. it wasnt believable to me since we know that humans need to be prepped like lex was to take over a phantom and get those powers.

Although I can definitely understand why people would rate this episode higher, I myself gave this episode a '7'. I think that the entire cast did a great job - Erica Durance especially - and it was nice to see an episode that used all established characters and such instead of a "Freak of the Week" but I definitely think that there have been stronger mythology episodes in the past. In addition, I felt that some of the lines of dialogue weren't as strong as they could be, though there were a few great lines scattered throughout.

Overall, an interesting episode, and it was great to see Kara back!

Awesome!

First off, very cool with the Kandor reference, especially since that is the current storyline for Superman with New Krypton.

Overall, this episode was strong on a lot of levels. We get the backstory for Doomsday. I thought linking him to Zod was strange but from what I've read about DD's backstory, about how he was created, it's a good fit and I can't wait till this storyline comes to a boiling point.

Very nice to see the lovely Laura Vandervoot back on my television screen. It was nice that they finally used her well here. I can't blame her for leaving Clark. I know I would too. After being wasted the last few weeks, Tess was put to good use here. Loved her scene with Lois of Zod. So was Oliver and Brianiac Chloe.

The only thing that annoyed me is this Ode to Lois Lane that TPTB insist on shoving down her throat. The only reason she got that job is because the clone editor wanted to sleep with her. Honestly, if she were eliminated from the show, I think it would actually improve dramatically. Another point of annoyance was Clark getting another beatdown. He hasn't fared too well against the House of Zod.

I gave it a 9 because I wanted a little more Lois/Clark interaction, but it was a great episode, I loved it when Clark said noone can destroy Lois and Clark, or something like that lol...gave me goosebumps. The interaction of every character were amazing and entertaining, they explained well why Kara didn't want to use her portal and I loved that Clark didn't want to leave her, was it my imagination or did he almost cry twice with her? first when they were in the zone and then at the end when they said goodbye. So sweet, made me teary eyed hehe. Of course I loved the last scene with Lois and Clark when she told him he was her hero and he was like I was??? hehehe sorry I don't remember it word by word. Chloe also freaked me out but she kicked ass, I loved Erica's performance and ohhh boy I loved how they developed Davis' story, it all made sense and fit perfectly!! talk about continuity, he was scary at the end. Hmmm maybe I should give it a 10 lol

Bloodline was an awesome episode. I gave this rating a 10.

I liked every thing about it. I liked all of the lines of all the actors on the show (except, I wish that Aaron Ashmore & Philip Morris were in it). Everyone did a fantastic job at acting on the show. Erica was excellent on the show (she disguised her voice and sounded very mature) on the show; I'll bet that's her real speaking voice. She did a fantastic job with her voice. I wonder if she really speaks like that in real life?

Tom Welling was awesome as usual, but I wasn't too crazy about Lois throwing him on top of the car flat on his back (that must have really hurt)!

Allison was great as usual (it seemed she was back to her normal self when she defended Clark & tried hiding his secret) in front of Tess Mercer. I wonder how Tess Mercer knew so quickly how Chloe was hiding Clark's secrets; and she seemed to know about Chloe hiding the crystal from Tess. Thank God Chloe came to Oliver Queen to ask for his help in helping to come to the rescue of Clark & Lois.

I loved Clark Kent's quote to Lois: "No one is going to mess with Lois & Clark," or something like that. That was one of the best lines on Smallville. And the other line (I can't quite remember) is when Kara tells Clark about Kandor and told Clark she wants to save her & Clark's Bloodline, which is the title of the episode. That was a clever quote.

I liked the scene with Lois & Davis (Erica hardly ever works with Sam Witwer, but I'm glad she was able to work with him). She told him about his life history and that he's from another planet. Wow! Imagine that! Davis Bloom is the son of Faora and Zod (from the Phantom Zone -- which means he's actually from the planet Krypton). Lois/Faora tells Davis Bloom about Kal-El, and Krypton. Who would have thought of Lois knowing Clark's secret in that way? I would have never guessed!

I liked the scene with Lois & Chloe (where Lois talks about Clark/Kal-El), and shows off her super-powers in front of Chloe. I loved the super-throw (Lois/Faora throwing Chloe around).

Sam Witwer did a fantastic job as Davis Bloom from a confused to a not so confused person. Loved the special-effects of the knife smashing to pieces when Davis Bloom stabs himself. I guess he knows who he is now. (He did a good job in going to Chloe and asking for her help in finding out about his biography), to a person who finally knows all about himself. I hated the part when Lois/Faora told him he will be the destroyer of planet earth. (I felt sorry for him).

I loved the Oliver Queen and Chloe scene. Oliver and Chloe are at the Isis Foundation, and with her superpowers, she makes something spin by itself, her eyes have this weird white contact lenses in her eyes (it looks awfully painful), and her nose starts to bleed. Oliver Queen tries to help Chloe, and then Chloe gives Oliver a hard push out of the way. Chloes eyes turn normal again, and next thing you know, Clark & Kara appear at the Isis Foundation. Oliver Queen & Chloe came to their rescue.

I loved the Lois/Faora and Tess scene where Lois/Faora tells Tess about Kal-El, and that a Kryptonian boy comes down in a spaceship to Smallville. She was telling Tess all kinds of secrets about aliens, Krypton, etc.; I'm surprised she didn't mention Clark Kent to Tess. Then Tess tells Lois/Faora about how she used to own a Kryptonian crystal, and that she couldn't find it. (I can't remember word for word about the lines of Lois/Faora and Tess, but it was an interesting scene).

I loved the Clark & Oliver Queen scene where they are talking about Chloe. Clark thanks Oliver Queen and he says, "You wouldn't be here, if it weren't for Chloe's help." Clark smiles. Then Oliver becomes serious and tells Clark that Chloe used super powers to spin an instrument (whatever that thing was) by itself, and Oliver told Clark that Chloe's eyes turned white, and he also told Clark that Chloe pushed him out of the way. Oliver says he doesn't know what's happened to Chloe. Clark tells Oliver that Brainiac infected Chloe somehow. Oliver says, "If you're her best friend, then help her. She's not the normal Chloe that she was."

The thing that I liked the most was Kara wearing an "S," that reminds me of the future Superman (the "S" that Clark Kent is going to wear in the future). I liked Clark Kent sticking up for himself and being assertive in front of his boss Tess Mercer. He told her, "If you want to fire me, go right ahead. I won't tell you anything more about Lex Luthor." I thought Tom Welling did a fantastic job as Clark Kent (and I loved his hair -- it looked like they cut Tom's hair a little shorter, and Tom Welling looked great in it). Especially in the Phantom Zone, while he's lifting up Lois' head to see if she's all right; I loved his bangs, too. Lois looked so great in purple, and Tom looked so great in his red jacket; even if people are tired of seeing his red jacket, I love his red jacket. Tom can give me his red jacket any old day!

This was indeed an awesome episode!

I really like how Oliver and Clark try to help one another out. Chloe, though I love her has been getting on my nerves always telling Clark what to do. Even though I understand why and she is saving him, it's condescending sometimes. Oliver I guess adds more humor so it goes down easier. Loved the line form Oliver "there is no Hallmark card for welcome back to Earth!" Erica looked stunning and was terrific as Zod's wife. I am a little confused about Tess though. Why isn't she trying to find out about Lois and her power? Loved that Clark stood up to Tess and told her she could fire him. Tom is just so Supermanly this season and I am hooked more then ever.

I totally agree with that Buddy TV article too!

Fantastic episode. I did not like Kara back in season seven very much. But she rocked tonight, I guess she is one of those characters that are great in small doses. Finally, it all makes perfect sense. The relationship between Davis/Chloe is not between them it is between doomsday/brainiac. The doomsday storyline was extended a lot tonight and I am excited to see where they take it. The Clark/doomsday storyline makes perfect sense to the Savior brings the destroyer. This concept is used in a lot of good vs. evil stories. The same concept was used in the Lex/Clark relationship. If Clark had not come to earth Lex would not have been obsessed with finding his secret and therefore may not have been evil. Lois was HOT!! As someone evil. I would say, I would like to see her evil again. I also like kara told the audience what the S. means to the kryptonian other than the family symbol and why they wear. 10 out of 10 for me. Cannot wait until fallen one' s review. Oh the last scene was so cool also. Remember, just my opinions

I actually think this is the best episode of the season so far, and it gets a solid 9/10 from me. Davis discovering his origins and the extent of his powers was really cool.

I just hope that people understand where that came from. For those who don't know, in the comics, whenever Doomsday dies from something, he's reborn soon after, and is unable to die from what killed him before. So, in essence, the more he dies, the stronger he becomes. I'm so glad they've decided to delve into that aspect of the character.

Oh-my-goodness! Where do I begin? Let me start off by saying this - I gave this Episode a solid 9. This is my first 9 of the season.

Okay, next.... ED did a fantastic job, and was wonderful "zoner". Okay, I know this "vessel" idea was visited before, but ED made evil posession look good. The look on Tess's face after the Lois/Zoner encounter was totally priceless. Kara's role was short, sweet, and to the point, as was Ollie's. I was a little sad to see Kara go though. Chloe's "Brainaic" power was like...Whoa! And Davis "Doomsday" Bloome is the Frankenstein son of Zod and Fayora? Well, I dubbed Fayora as "Ursa". Davis as a twisted "Chris Kent" aka Lor-Zod??!! As a Kryptonian?! My mouth literally dropped to the floor. (I apologize to SVer's. I read Superman comics also, and these comments probably doesn't make any sense). And bravo goes to CK for being most "Supermanly" tonight - protecting Lois (even when she was possessed), being the leader while in the Phantom Zone, pulling Kara out of Phantom Zone, and then letting Kara go (without lecturing her, or trying to stop her like he would've done in Season 7).

PS3 really mixed it up and pulled from different stories & season 7. Change is good and this episode was all good! Can I recant my vote and change it to a 10? Oh, nevermind - CK's red & blue wardrobe made their eye-sore return in this episode!!! :p

Cedric! Where are you? See! I expedentially progressed back toward Smallville lovedom! :p

This episode was definitely a mixed bag for me. I think they tried to do too many things in this episode, and ended up shortchanging some of them.

I definitely think there wasn't enough of Kara. I wasn't a big fan of Kara's, and I don't believe she was ever a good fit for this show. But they did bring her in, and had her on for a season, and I think she deserved a more fitting exit show. As it was, she wasn't even in it for very long, and didn't do much of note but make observations she really wasn't in any position to make, and then left. Her final scene with Clark was very touching though, and really well played by LV & TW. I may not have liked Kara on the show, but I would never deny that LV & TW have wonderful chemistry with each other.

The Clois stuff was definitely a mixed bag for me. I thought they figured out a plausible way for Lois to get transported to the P-Zone with Clark, and I very much liked their interactions while there. Its not often that we see Lois defer to Clark, and I liked seeing her have that moment of weakness, and Clark snapping her out of it. I also liked that he was determined to get her out, and she didn't want to leave him behind.

And I liked Clark trying to plead to Lois, though I really don't think we need another one episode observer telling us that Clark and Lois have feelings for each other. Show, don't Tell!

But the last scene between them left me cold. Lois was sort of obnoxious, and her total lack of suspicion at Tess suddenly giving her a raise was her brightest bulb moment. Clark was fine though.

I'm not a huge fan of the superbrain Chloe stuff, and she was very much in deux ex machina role here. But the Chloe/Tess scene was great, and the Chloe/Oliver scenes were pretty amusing.

Speaking of Oliver, I thought he was used pretty well here, as a supporting character who can launch into superhero mode. His reaction to Clark's alien stuff was very funny. And the last scene he shared with Clark was nicely done, with them having more of a friendly/buddy vibe, as opposed to the lecturing vibe we get far too often. This time, we saw Oliver make an observation and offer advice, but done so in a very friendly "its your business" sort of way.

I like CF very much, but I honestly believe she lays the Cruella DeVille on a bit too thick sometimes. Maybe it would help if they didn't make her hair and makeup so severe. But I did enjoy her scene with Chloe, the scene with LoFaora, and I especially loved her scene with Clark. There's an interesting mixture there of suspicion, caution, curiosity and sexual attraction (all from Tess' side). I wish there were more Cless scenes.

ED did a terrific job as Faora, and her scenes with Davis were awesome, and downright creepy. SW did a great job with those as well. And I do give the episod props for explaining the Davis/Doomsday thing, and not dragging it out.

I was very disappointed that there wasn't a lot of Clark, or Kara, in this episode. And I really think too much was shoved in this episode.

So, I have to give it a good, but not great, 7.

I am re-watching this episode again (I love my DVR), there some segments I missed because as a Moderator we have to deal with reports as they come in.
I really like the way they filmed the Phantom Zone.

It was kinda strange how Lois didn't look exactly like herself while possesed, also I am wondering how/if her body handled the powers without too much strain.

Aw, yes, the DVR. I have a certain fondness for mine, as well.

You posted several of my thoughts here, for me, Steve. The Phantom Zone thing, first off. I just loved the scenes in there. I can't explain exactly why, but I think it was the whole Lois thing. The way she handled herself when she'd just been thrown into the midst of something she'd had no preparation for or had an inkling existed. It showed her humanity, when she felt like giving up, but it also showed her strength, because she pushed on, plus she was loathe to leave Clark behind. Guess having a general for a father paid off. Same goes for Kara; she really showed her mettle (sp?). Not that Clark wasn't great, of course.

I also wondered about the effect on Lois's body. Remember what happened to Jonathan. I realize this is slightly different, but the fact remains humans aren't meant to accomodate alien abilities. I figure the writers will brush over it like it never happened, though. It wouldn't be good if Lois became terminally ill or something, since she's Superman's love.

I gave this ep an 8 for the very reasons that Bad Toad gave it a 7. I think it was a tremendous episode - don't get me wrong - but by comparison, I thought Identity and Committed were more enjoyable to me. Less going on and Lois/everyone else remembered everything in those episodes. In this one, OQ gets knocked unconscious, Lois is unconscious twice, Tess sees Lois superspeed out of the Planet and does not do anything (apparently) beyond giving Lois a raise??? That was weak.

I did not fall in love with Kara last season but I liked her. In my book, she is not much different as a character than Sheriff Nancy so while her introduction last season had some benefits, it was not a game-changer and that's the way I felt with Kara in this episode. The reference to Kandor was a good excuse for her to leave SV and Earth so that wrapped up her involvement in the series quite nicely.

ED did some damn fine acting this episode even though I didn't particularly care for the Faora angle. I would rather have learned that from the Faora zoner in the PZ and Chloe finds out via Chloiac. TW was good but once again seemed to be reacting rather than being proactive - except when he was in the PZ with Lois. Only then was he "taking the bull by the horns" and solving the problem.

Had this episode been run last season, it would have rated a 10. This season, I gave it an 8, which should still be high praise for the PS3 writing and show-runner consortium. Thanks for a "gr8t" episode!

Surprisingly,I think I'm going to be the first one to acknowledge this, considering my past posts reguarding this topic,but......Bravo to Caroline Dies! This was a very well-written episode. I gave it a 9. Tom in his usual greatness.....Erica was awsome. Favorite scene was a tie between Clark and Oliver and Clark and Kara in the loft. Favorite line.....also a tie between,"Nobody messes with Lois and Clark.",and "It's me...hello."

10!

There were a couple real little things with the writing (would've liked either another Clois scene at the end or had their scene be at the farmhouse and be a bit more serious showing Clark's feelings to her before lightening up again), but I think Caroline should get some praise. She's had a couple rough eps but the one tonight was fantastic!

Wanna say that one of the most impressive things about Erica's performance as Faora? Though a comics character, she'd never been in live-action (and I can't even remember cartoons with her). Meaning? Erica had to create this from nothing more than the words on the page. No other actor mannerisms to try and copy like "Transference" or "Arctic", no movies to study like in "Zod", just her. Not saying it's not challenging to do accurate impersonations, just saying how much more challenging it is to create something from scratch. And she did it. A character NOTHING like Lois, who seemed to get more comfortable with each scene. Give the woman a Saturn award, please. :)

And I have to say that this was also the first time since his arrival that Davis was interesting to me. He wasn't random paramedic who makes eyes with Chloe or poor confused man who blacks out with no ties to anyone and wants to cry. He became part of Smallville's mythology when Faora revealed his origin. He actually was given his own connection to the show that connects him to Krypton and acknowledged his place in Clark's world that was something much more than random paramedic who shows up in the 8th year of the story. THAT has finally given me a reason to have an interest in Davis as a character prior to his transformation. He actually plays a role in Clark's story now that doesn't feel like some randomly thrown in disconnect that doesn't mean anything until he morphs. Nice job, show! :)

And I LOVE Kara. We'll miss you, Laura!!

Wasnt too fond of the whole fiona story line and taking over lois. it wasnt believable to me since we know that humans need to be prepped like lex was to take over a phantom and get those powers.

It was ok for me and made sense. Lex was the only one prepared for Zod. All the other zoners took over bodies just as easy so it still makes sense and they even had some type of power.

Wow...I loved this episode. Lots of action with great acting from everyone. Erica was very good as Faora and totally different from Lois. Clark was Supermanly showing concern for Lois, Chloe and Kara. Chloe sure looked awesome/creepy while interacting with the crystal. Ollie always good as the Green Arrow. Tess trying hard to find Lex and getting clues. Doomsday is coming. Good bye Kara. I hope she finds what she is looking for. They sure made the most of 40 minutes. Another 10. This season just keeps getting better.

Wow. Great episode, and great SV universe use of Doomsday and Faora. I enjoy their spin on the characters. Really loving it. As a comics fan, I don't mind several universes, and don't mind that this one is slightly different from the comics, as long as they don't mess too much with Clark and with Clois.

The good:
Moving forward of the Clois without it being shoved down our throats. I think the Clois was subtle, and it was very well done. Clark is obviously more "there" with Lois. I think ED did a FANTASTIC job with the possession. She looked like a different character.

The okay:
Kara. She was not necessary to the episode, they just wanted an excuse to wrap up her storyline.

The bad:
Kara's talk to Clark in the loft. Though I didn't see it as forced, per se, I think Kara saw both Lois and Clark having feelings and she should have been more direct (but then people would be saying "we don't need people to TELL us, we need to see it," but the CLois has always gone SL O W L Y, and they have always had to have been smacked in the face or had their lives in danger to admit anything, don't get me started).

SCF on her soapbox:

The problem with cutting Clark off from all of his human ties (Lana, Chloe, mamaKent, etc) is that he has no one to discuss anything with. So, the audience has to infer a lot. That makes people cry "lightswitch". I need Clark to have a non-shipper confidante, so we as the audience KNOW what he is thinking. The writing in every season since 4 has been horribly bad at conveying through the writing what Clark is thinking. I wish he had a BFF (NOT Chloe, she confronts the audience with too much baggage and that gets i the way). Maybe Lana is this person? I hope that they are able to write it so, and convincingly. Lana is that person in the comics. I would like to see that continue, so we can get a clearer picture of what Clark is thinking.

This episode surprised me in may ways.
at first i wasn't too sure if i'de like it, character switches make me nervous i guess, but i can say that erica really pulled it off and did a great job!!!
plus it tied up davis' origins (which i already knew, because of superman) but still that was very important.
this episode was exhilarating from begin to finish.
i loved it.
this whole season hasn't disappointed me...well plastique and toxic weren't amazing, but still good and valid to the season, unlike the beginning season 7 episodes.
looooved it.

Well what a great episode we got tonight. I enjoyed every minute of the episode. Still wondering who took the crystal in the first place and reprogramed it... Loved how the episode started and clark and lois both got sucked into the PZ, that looked pretty great there. As for the zone it self its looking great and nice to see it again. Cool with the blood river/pool place, and the secondary portal place.

It was great to see kara again and i hope they might have laura return for atless one or two more episodes hopefully near season end. I liked the interaction she had with clark and lois in the zone and once they got out. I thought they portrayed that pretty well. Also with saying kandor might have survived and maybe a new krypton somewhere sounds great. I am glad they did leave her open to have a return maybe in the future. Also it would be nice if they go the ruote of new krypton/other living kryptonians would love to see that play out.

Doomsday story is now moving along very nicely. Its great to finally have confirmation he was an experiment by zod and faroa before they got trapped in the PZ and looks like he hinched a ride on kal-el's original flight from krypton's destruction. Also love they are keeping the angle on what ever way you kill him, makes him immune to getting killed again in that manner. Cant wait to see his true form and hope it is good. I am liking the way his story is going.

As for next week, looks very interesting and i cant wait to see how it plays out.

Gosh Smallville is so on point this year!! Writers are you reading this? Great job!!!

All around EXCELLENT! Unanimous vote from this household that it is the best so far this season. I really like the Davis storyline--what a surprise that he is the son of Zod. The ending scene was so cool. "What kills you makes you stronger"...hmmmmmm....now that's scary!

Erica must have had a blast as another character. She did it perfectly.

Chloe's playing with fire! Her eyes even looked like ash for awhile there...it'll be interesting to see where this leads her.

I'm glad Lois decided not to live with Clark. That would've really put a cramp in his runs back and forth to Metropolis. But doesn't anyone wonder how he gets to work without a car? (Not to mention he'd be on the road for 6 hours a day :D ).

Anyway, fantastic work on this one! I'm really enjoying Season 8. I thought when A&M left, the show was going to disintegrate, but instead it's taken on a whole new dimension!

Solid episode. Totally loved it. I think this episode brought all the main characters up until now into focus. Jimmy was in focus in Identity but the rest were all involved in this episode and everyone had a role/connection. It was Great to see Kara (at first I wasn't a fan but I am going to really miss her. Good Luck LV, best wishes.) Also, very nice to see some GA action, Tess/Clark scene was great too. Faora/Davis was perfect, and I loved how he was initially asking Chloe for information, and BAM!!! his mother shows up and shows him what he is capable of. Chloe, once again did a great job using Brainiac resources to release Clark and Kara. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole episode. Just waiting for it all to sink in, if you know what I mean. I was sorta hoping Clark would build his fortress after we saw Davis try to stab himself again. But It was a great finish to a great episode. Absolutely loved it. LV will be missed! :)

I gave it an 8, I liked the episode but I preferred the past two episodes to this one. All in all they have had a pretty good run of episodes. If the end with Davis stabbing himself doesn't keep people interested than I don't know what will. This season is quickly shaping up to be one of the best. Maybe we needed some new blood in the writing department all along to improve the series.

Pretty good episode though not as good as the ones that came before it. I'm liking the idea of Doomsday being in this season whereas before I was opposed to it. These writers are really handling this well though. It's good to see Kara out of the Phantom Zone and now out of Smallville as she races off to find her city. Great tie-in with the comic books with the Kandor situation. Lois looked hot as ever while possessed with by Zod's wife and her brutality toward Tess, Chloe, and David was just vicious. This season is on a roll and I'm liking that. Keep them coming.

10! I watched an episode and gave it 10! Excuse me if I squeal a lot but this episode was so good, my usual calm collected self has disappeared and is probably in the same place as Lex...lol...

Things I loved:
-Lois. In general. She tries to protect Clark, then doesn't want to leave him (bless!), then makes the mistake of telling Clark he's her knight in shining armour (and the big doofus just grins ). Also Erica Durance was amazing as Faora, I mean who knows anything about Zod's wife? I thought his other half was Ursa like in the films, but maybe she's copped off with the other big guy? Anyways, Erica even looked different as Faora, I was so impressed.

-Clark. What's not to love?? Standing up to Tess (who I now dislike very much), trying to save Lois and Kara....I was tearing up in that last scene in the barn, and the last time that happened to me was in 'Reckoning' :\ I just wish he would stop wearing that red jacket. Note to Clark: new wardrobe please.

-Ollie. To my surprise I actually liked him in this episode, especially when he asks Clark to help Chloe. Plus, he paralysed Tess and that wins him points.

-Doomsday is coming! Whoop whoop! However Clark has got his work cut out for him if he's gonna stop the killing machine who's evolving into being pretty invincible. Faora's methods of motherly love are questionable though

Things I hated:
-Nowt!!

In general I am really glad I got up at dawn and tripped over my dog to get at the computer and watch this episode on youtube. I laughed at the Guitar Hero plug, I wonder is Clark any good?? Also at Clark not making any effort to get Lois off him after she collapses all over him ;)

Most of all, I loved the quote of the series which is the title of my post, I'm gonna write that down and use it for..something. My new avi maybe!

Finally, where is Cedric's review? I can't get through my long weekend of work, brothers and marathon training unless I have first laughed like an eejit at his review. Show yourself, Fallen One!

(Oh and I forgot to mention that I don't mind Lois isn't gonna move in at the farm after all, it just leaves room for me...lol...where was Shelby though?)

I gave it a 7.

Actually I liked this episode, but because of Kara/Laura V. I couldn't rate it higher than 7.

The total lack of chemistry between the two cousins and Laura's IMO not existing acting talent bothered me a lot the last season and I mentioned it quite a lot back then.

It wasn't different at all in this episode IMO, but it was at least bearable because I knew she would be gone again soon.

Apart of that, the episode was really good, Erica did a great job with acting like Zod's wife and we learned a lot about Davis's origin, what was really interesting, for him AND for us :o)

Chloe and Ollie were cool together as well - I like when they work together to solve problems like that.

I'm so curious how it will go on with all of them next week.

Gave it a 9. Love the plot advacement, continuity. Erica put in a great performace-amazing. Makes me wish that she had gotten the material in previous seasons to shine like she is this season. I also like that they brought back Kara(finished loose end from previous season) and then had her leave. She served her purpose and I think the reason for her leaving makes sense.

Is far and away the best season of Smallville yet. I have religiously watched the show since season 1. Last season I was getting to a point where I really didn't care if I watched the show live, instead DVRing it and would even sometimes forget to watch it until the weekend

This season, I refuse to not watch it Live at 8pm, and each weeks new show cant come soon enough

The storylines are blowing me away. It is such a huge difference in the writing and plot lines. Last weeks episode was great, and I thought this week's couldnt top it, that it was just a filler episode to tie up the Kara plothole

Boy was I wrong. Not only did it tie up Kara, they bridged it over with a huge reveal as to the story behind Doomsday/Davis and it was very believable in this SMallville universe. It is being told perfectly. I LOVE it....

I havent geeked out over episodes of Smallville since season 3, this season I have geeked out at least once in each episode. The DC continuity is awesome, I love the roles of J'onzz, the lack of Lana and Lex (was soooo stale), Mercy is awesome, the Lois and Clark thing is being done perfectly, I love all the foreshadowing with all the "S" symbols everywhere, the costume and cape conversations, Clark embracing his destiny and actually moving forward in Life, and hell the whole bowl of wax

Kudos writers. And I never thought Season 9 was possible, but now it is almost a must if the ratings start to show the effects of the great writing.

Just please get TW back!

I gave it a 9. This season has really been great; consistent, progressive, funny and emotional...I'm really looking forward to every episode again :D
The reason I only gave it a nine is because I just never could warm to Kara and in this episode I still didn't. Lois/Faora, Clark, Ollie, Tess, Chloe and Ollie were all great but Kara just never impresses me unfortunately. Still a great episode though :)

It was good I gave it an 8, plus Jimmy wasn’t in this one (yay).

There were no love angst scenes and it focused on the drama of the characters. So for that bit of change I gave the 8. I just wish they would stop the Lois & Clark anvils (good god we got it already).

It was good they tied up Kara’s storyline up to a point. I think they left a window open if Smallville goes into season 9 (the search for Kandor).
I like Kara but when she says Kal-El it always sounds like she’s got a marble in her mouth.

Clark was a bit of a BDA when he first saw the crystal. I thought he would shut the box closed. But noooo… he then goes an picks it up and basically invited Lois to look at it. That was unquestionably a BDA-ism.

Tess once again was unimpressive. I just don’t like that she has suspicions about Clark. I wish they would have left that alone when Lex left. She doesn’t need to be on his tail about anything.
They are going to windup writing themselves into a corner with that train of thought. Clark doesn’t need a monkey on his back; he needs to explore his path. I think they need to let that go and create Tess as a second rate Lex fanatic. Give her some characteristics that are not Lex like and make her more into a Lex lackey.

OK SO THIS EPISODE TURNED OUT TO BE EVERYTHING I WANTED IT TO BE AND MORE!!! IM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE TURN OUT OF DOOMSDAY!!!! LETS START FROM THE BEGINGING . THE KENT FARM . clark and lois were good the joke lois made about jimmy and chloe threw me off a bit but its cool .the crystal was blue unlike out previous visions of the crystal from season 4 finale and season 5 premiere. i know the key had been reformated but by whom... and what reason. whoever stole it and sent it to clark obviously knew who he is and what it would do .. i don't think its lex only because i don't think he's capable of doing such things. or maybe now he is.. but i think it was brainiac somehow controlling someone else to do his bidding.. maybe its chloe or LANA !!! (gasp's) man that would be a nice twist to things. ok so skip over i like chloe and tess together. chloe the smart ass and tess the beautiful *****. i like the scene kinda weird to see tess breaking and entering but its all good.
next
the phantom zone .. better then our last visit and i knew it that kara would call clark kal-el... which i hate it just doesn't seem right when she says it!!!!!!! anyways i thought i was a little weird that she was beating up on clark for a mintue then realized it was him i mean come on the bid red and blue did not give it away????? anyways
i like the ruggedness she protrayed this episode looked like a bad ass. i liked the escape scene nice action and i like to see kara get tossed around.
davis is zod's creation/son... awesome now thats superman mythos for you. ( is it greedy to ask for more?? )
i would have liked to see an actualy face to zod's wife but i think that would have messed up the basics of the phantom zoners. i would like to know what makes the zoners different from other people in the phantom zone were they killed then put in there or where they transformed into those things. cause in the 1st episode of 6 we saw the kryptonians from the space ship in the first episode of season 5 and they were still in a body form. but im looking into that to much!
anyways back on track
lois with powers ... whoop whoop .. she did good i like the acting i could see the difference
chloe and oliver. chloe bursts out wit awesome powers to rescue clark, but damn it!!!! my signal went out ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! but if chloe got him out with her brainiac powers then theres no way she sent clark the crystal to put him in there damn too man mysteries..................
anyways all in all great episode davis actually gettin gcloser and closer to being doomsday and honestly i wasn't to sure what the writers were going to do with him but as far as a hardcore superman fan goes... ur doing a great job!!!!!but im greedy and i want brainiac lex and doomsday all in one episode .
make it happen!!!!!! ohh throw some darkseid in there! :)

oh and finishing kara off looking for kandor..............wow probably one of the best mythos reference i've seen on smallville in along long long time!!!!!!!!

Just perfect!!!

I gave it a 9 (because I am holding on to my 10 for when my socks literally blow off my feet and across my living room!)

I have to confess - the first time I watched this, I was not wowed. I was thinking 7 or maybe an 8. Then, I went back this morning, and watched it again. This time, I observed more carefully and realized what a good episode this really was.

Pros for me:

ED - has hit an acting high-water mark in my opinion. She was chilling as Faiora (sp?) and struck a nice balance between terrified and strong in the PZ scenes. Her look as Faiora was the hottest she has looked since she came on the show. I am female and I still drooled. ;)

TW - man some really good facial expressions and reactions - very believable and great to see. This guy is really hitting his stride and looks like he is really enjoying this season. He brings so much heart to this character. I don't think people give him enough credit for that. (And there was something strangely hot about watching him pancake a fire truck!)

I really like the transformation theme in this episode. I like being able to see Chloe going bigger, badder, darker and more brainiac than ever. I can't wait to see where this culminates - this arc has me on the edge of my seat (and I confess, I am enjoying watching her embrace a little evil - life is yin and yang after all.)

At first, I did not like the Clois - In the PZ I would have liked to see a little more emotional high and low between them, especially since Lois was so sure they were going to die. On the other hand, it could have easily gone over the top, so I am glad they did err on the side of less rather than more, still I think ED and TW could have walked that fine line. For me, the writing on this one was the weakest link.

The Doomsday story arc is totally sucking me in. I am loving the fact that PS3 gave the audience time to be won over by the character before they hit us with the heavy stuff. He was chilling and the scene between him and ED was a winner.

I loved Clark's reaction to Faiora when she told him "You're too late, Kal-El." It gave me chills when I heard it because I was immediately brought back to Lana and his experience with her. There are other threads where people are crying out "Clana!" and tearing at their hair, but I think it was totally cool. Clark's face, the sheer fear and dread when he looked at Lois, spoke volumes. You could see him thinking, "Oh God, not again!" And he was immediately awash in the guilt and helplessness he felt when Brainiac attacked Lana. Some people think that was him reverting back into mopey BDA mode, but I disagree. It struck me as him realizing another facet of his feelings for Lois, and facing the fear that, once again, his secret put someone he loved in danger. His ability to go from apologizing to Lois in one breath, to steely-eyed determination to stop Faiora in the other, says that he is not the mopey teenager he once was, but a man who is going to step up and deliver. Compare this Clark to the Clark of seasons 4-6 and it is clear that he is not the same person. He is evolving, learning from his mistakes, and getting more super with every episode. I am so on board with that!

I literally jumped off the sofa and shouted "I knew it!" when I saw the boot print Tess showed Clark at the end of the episode. I knew that print was going to come back and pop up and when I saw the scene with Chloe at the Kent Farm, my brain immediately said "farm...mud...work boots...shoeprint!" Loved it. She is playing a fun game and I am enjoying her cat and mouse - some think she is a female Lex, but I really think she is her own villain. She may be his protege, but she brings her own spin to it and that is making her fun to watch.

I enjoyed the Clark/Oliver interaction as well. Clark looked absolutely relieved to find someone in his house when he walked through the door. When he stood there for a moment, I thought he looked lonely. He seemed almost relieved to see Oliver sitting there. Oliver was absolutely right to tell Clark about Chloe and I thought that scene was well done. Oliver was not overbearing or preachy and Clark showed true concern for Chloe's well-being. I like the way their friendship is being developed. I'd like to see that happen with Jimmy Olsen too (hint, hint PS3!).

Okay I am blathering now. I could talk about this for hours. But truthfully, this episode was a great one in my book. There was one big CON for me. I did feel slightly beaten over the head when Faiora told Clark he had feelings for Lois. I think the audience has figured it out and I really (REALLY) wish PS3 would stop telling us what we can see with our own two eyes. Instead of wasting dialogue having other characters tell them they have feelings for each other, give us dialogue between Clark and Lois that shows us. Stop beating me over the head with it already!

I gave it a 9. Everything was great, except for how Kara is just leaving, didn't like that. Also I don't get how Lois can just think it was a hallucination. Plus, how does Tess seem to understand everything about Krypton?

One of the best episodes of Smallville as of yet, and for many reasons:

If you didn't enjoy Kara's storyline last season, and a lot of people didn't, this episode made up for it all just because it was pretty much like something from a comic book. Kara, trapped in the PZ and helped out Clark and Lois, and then hearing stories about Kandor and leaving Smallville to see if these stories were true, meaning Kara might return this season, possibly to help out against Doomsday(which would be nice, imo).

Faora showing up. It wasn't Zod, which was nice just because if you didn't enjoy Zod's interpretation during season five/six, then this was a nice way to provide more Kryptonian backstory and keeps Zod's "status" of being dead or alive still "open"(i.e., Clark could've killed Zod, or he might be trapped somewhere else if the crystal didn't take Zod back to the Phantom Zone). And speaking of the Phantom Zone, the addition of a bloody red river provided immense imagery within the episode just to show how vile the PZ was, because "Zod" didn't show a RUTHLESS version of the PZ.

Doomsday. 'Nuff said. Sure it's not like the comics, but Zod and Faora created this child which will turn out to be a very imperfect child. Zor-El had troubles with cloning, so of course Zod would mess it up; Davis Bloome had no powers, but one stabbing, one death will awaken the beast inside him and it'll be nice to see Bloome use some powers in "Abyss" before he becomes Doomsday just to show that he is now a Kryptonian, but not a true one as he will become an abomination.

Amazing episode at that, PLUS there was a great hero to hero chat with Clark and Oliver which sounded like something from a comic book once again, talking about Brainiac and helping out Chloe.

After 1st watch, I thought it was pretty good. I'll give it a 7 or an 8. I like how they tied up Kara's storyline. I was totally surprised to find out Davis is Zod's son! Until now, I didn't really see a point for Davis to be on the show, but now he finally has some good connections to the characters. I liked how Lois was given the opportunity to have powers and act like someone else. She did act very differently, but I thought it was kinda weird at the same time, like she wasn't acting the part of Zod's wife. Anyway I still love Lois. Overall good episode.

10/10! Freaking blown away! My favorite episode of the season so far!

It had a little bit of everything. clois, PZ, Kara, Zod connection, possessed Lois, Chloeiac, Green Arrow, clever/hot bad guy, Doomsday, a Kandor reference. How much more can people ask for!?

I cannot get over how amazing ED was.
This episode surpassed all my expectations.
It was so good to see Oliver back in his Green Arrow gear.
I gave it a well deserved 10.
I gotta say, i loved Lois dropping on top of Clark after Faora was removed hah.
When Davis stabbed himself at the end, i actually squealed.

I'll give it a 7.

I have some questions because of it, though. Wasn't it implied last season that Zor-El had allied himself with Zod? If this was true, then why wouldn't he have built Zod an escape portal?

Most of the episode was great, especially for the advancement of the plot for the season. However, I was truly disappointed that there was no interaction between GA, MM, Clark and Kara before she left. They could have at least shown Kara making peace with MM. I hope that she returns before the season and show end so we can get some interaction between the four of them.

I thought it was the best ep of the season. Only thing I didnt like was Kara one and out. She could bring a lot to the show but it seems they r afraid to have clark share the spotlight.

I was surprised at the way Kara got shipped off. I knew she wasnt gonna be on long but i expected her to be there for the Legion of Super Heroes stuff and maybe exit with them.

i gave this one a 8 .

i gave it a 8 cause we have had better episodes this season. anyway let me start by saying ED was beautiful as Faora. i liked ED as faora. she did very well i would much rather she play a chracter like this ... she was great as Faora.

im glad lois did not stay living with clark i have never agreed with them living together before being a couple and that just goes to far beyond mythos for me. because they want to keep shoving mythis anvils and having them living together before they are an item i never liked.

anywho back to bloodline

the episode was good and was certainly interesting. the kara storyline could have been wrapped up a little better but hey they only get 40 something minutes to push everything to gether.

but i liked the mentioning of kandor and i liked the fact that it was believeable that kara would want to go and explore that ! i did not like the lois and clark anvils they are getting dull okay ps3 we get it please you giving me a concussion.

there were less rude remarks made to clark in this episode so it made me appreciate clois more , i don't like the dumb farmboy comments . and there were none the clois interaction did not bother me.

the anvils did though when faora says oph please you have feelings for this human i inhabit ? clark has feelings for all his friends... not just lois so for me that another anvil to push the relationship. then the no one messes with lois and clark line .... we get it people okay ! we know the future we don't need a middle finger by ps3 to other shippers . we get your point so you can stop now thank you.

but lois was cool in this episode i do see that she gave up too easily on this as a possible daily planet headline and it upsets me because it seems ps3 is too worried about pushing clois forward than lois's need to be a hard core reporter . lois should have been all over this story not just oh i was dreaming or oh i was hallucinating . but it was refreshing to see her so calm and mature about it.

i would much rather see her like this than her actions in instinct yelling at the top of her lungs and acting like she drank a pot of coffee . so i give lois props for this episode she was better IMO.

now the chloiac was awsome by far ... the white eyes and the one hand controlling the crystal device made my hair stand up on the back of my neck. Green arrow was cool in this episode and his concern for chloe was refreshing and how he asked clark what are you gonna do about chloe . that was awsome. clark was kind of blah about it but he has not really been able to help her without the fortress.

explaining where doomsday or davis come from is cool i like it ! the child of zod i like it and explains the brainic/doomsday bond = chloe and davis

brainiac is a loyal zod supporter and davis is zods son so that all makes sense. love the dooms day stuff.

this was a good episode. just had a few rolling eyes moments for me

i also like the fact thatclark still cares for chloe and that they still need to hug eachother. they have a beautiful friendship but for how mych longer i don't know. i still think it is an un needed sacrifice.

clark can still have a destiny with another and love chloe . there friendship has no boundaries and it should continue no matter who he has as a love ineterest buit i guess ps3 does not feel that way so chloe and clark's friendship will remain but altered . dammit !!!!!!!!

anyway gave it a 8 . could have been better but it was good and finally someone mentions clarks mom.... lois thought the box with crystal was from ma kent . atleast someone remembers martha !

I also gave a 7. The episode was good but not that good for me. Erica was amazing though, she was totally somebody else. Really great job.
Once again, Caroline Dries is incapable imo of writing for Clark. He got rescued twice and lectured twice by 3 different persons in that episode, just like the old times, minus the horrible angst of the past 2 years. He didn't have much to do besides wandering through the scenes. In an overall good season for Clark, I guess it's bearable; but really, the episode would have been so much better if she could care for Clark.

I also think that the Kara storyline was disappointing. It's great that they did a Lois episode, but I expected more Kara since it's her only appearance this season.

Had to give it a 10...it was a comic book fans dream...Superman, Green Arrow, Supergirl, Doomsday, Phantom Zone (with two side flipping glass with Clark on one side and Lois on the other), and Zod's wife in Lois and Brainiac inhabiting Chloe -- all in one episode.

Plus another outstanding performance by Erica Durance.

I still like Identity better but this was still terrific.

I have to give it to the writers; I haven't seen this much consistency in SV for a long time. I've commented to a friend of mine who also likes the show that the one big thing I've disliked for a long time is that Clark, and many other characters bounce back and forth.

Clark is ready to learn his destiny...Clark isn't ready to learn his destiny. Lionel is good--Lionel is bad (I guess it's something in-between???). Clark is a genius--Clark is a BDA. Lana is good--Lana is bad. Aaaarrrgh!

This season feels completely fresh. Clark isn't jumping into his destiny; he's taking little steps and (shock/gasp), the audience is LOVING it. We never said we wanted him to pull on the blue longjohns and cape; just some progress. And, that's going so smoothly right now.

This episode was good. It concluded Kara's plotline, it showed Clark as very Superman-ish, and Lois as strong but vulnerable. Chloe and Ollie had great, useful parts in the plotline, even giving Ollie a chance to put on the GA outfit. Perfect mix. And, Davis, (who I thought I'd hate before the season started) has grown so well in my eyes. I'm still a little nervous for the Doomsday plot, but right now, I'm very optimistic.

Overall, this season has been great. I don't feel there are any real "filler" episodes--the closest being "Plastique" and the one with Ollie on the island. But, either hurt the season as many fillers do. The only big thing that has bothered me is how on earth Ollie found out Clark is an alien. That still bugs me, but I'm willing to let it go because this season has flowed so well except for that one inconsistency.

Writers--keep up the good work. The scripts are fun, original and engaging, and you can sense that fresh air across the episodes. Remember--consistency. Thank you!

It lagged at the beginning, but it caught up eventually. After things got better (I guess after they got out of the 'Zone), I really enjoyed it.

Now, as with all my reviews:

The good stuff:

"What's with the oversized paper wieght?" I busted out laughing at that.
(Mostly because I get over excited when it's "Tom Time", but it really was funny.)

Kara came back! Whee!

I found it annoying (I could see Clark and Kara's annoyance/"we can't tell her our
secret, so we'll just play along" vibe they had) yet a bit funny that Lois thought they were abducted.

Oliver!! *glomps*

Chloe using the crystal was awesome.

Eventhough I don't much like Davis, the way he broke the knife thingy
(I think it was some surgical insturment) was pretty cool. I can't recall them
doing that with anyone besides Clark before.

I really enjoy how every Kryptonian in the show (sans Kara and that one old guy) is so "alien" seeming. They don't use slang and whatever and they're just really, well, not unemotional exactly, just...un-human, if that's even a word. Straightforward,
blunt, and not corny at all. Poetic, I guess is kinda what I'm looking for. I remember
I was watching a special on Superman and someone said that in the first
movie that the Kryptonians spoke in an almost Shakespearian type of way.
It's kind of like SV is keeping that diginity and, um, aristocratic-ness about them alive.

Holy crap! Davis is Zod's son/experiment?! Didn't see that one coming!
(should have, though.)

The bad stuff:
The acting seemed below average or something at the beginning.
(I don't know, when they were in the Phantom Zone, it was either
the acting or the fact that they were yelling that bugged me.)

I'm still a little upset that Clark wasn't proactive all this time in looking for Kara.
Ugh.

Other:
Faora as Lois. *yawn* Erica did great, but I'm soooo tired of phantoms taking over
people. (Because ED did so great, I'm putting this in my "other" category, since
the performance wasn't bad, but the fact that they had another phantom come
around was, IMO.)

Bane
11-08-2008, 03:11 AM
They should be done with phantoms now, it was nice to see a phantom one more time, but they don't need to make a habit of having someone get trapped in the Zone and then have someone get taken over by one.

Btw, my mom & I were both wondering why Lois never questioned how they knew to open the portal to get home. With Lois being a reporter and all, you think she'd immediately wonder about something like that.

Kent farm, earlier this week.

Housekeeper Stevens: Well that seems to be all for today Mr. Kent. The house is in perfect order, you've had your evening milk, and I've given you three sponge baths, just like you insisted.

Clark: Thanks, baby. Hiring a private maid to take care of the house was an awesome decision by my Mother whats-her-face. I wish I had thought of it earlier. But you know, you look familiar. Have I seen you at the DMV?

Housekeeper: Doubt it. Well, you just relax and sit back. You have some visitors. Should I send them in?

Clark: Sure.

Alicia Baker: Hi Clarkie, how you doin?

Clark spits out his milk and looks on as Alicia and two other figures surround his chair.

Clark: Oh.. no..

Ryan: Clark, we need to talk.

Genevieve Teague: You forget about people in your life too easily, it ends now.

Clark: Oh wow. Will you look at that. I thought you all were dead. I'd love to sit here and catch up with you Genevieve, but I have this rule about not talking to women over 40.

Clark makes a move to get out of his chair only to find he's immobolized from the neck down.

Clark (in shock): Oh you've got to be kidding me.

Genevieve: Well, good news for you. We're not here to talk. We're here to negotiate.

Clark: You want to negotiate with me? About what?

Alicia: Listen Clarkie, we've been watching all of season 8. And you have yet to mention your cousin Kara. Its as if you forgotten about her. Whats up with that? That's why we've brought all of our friends with us. You will mention her tonight or we'll have to force you.

Clark: Oh really? You and what army.

Ryan: Team Forgotten….come on in!

Teams of people, characters, and icons of the '80s and '90s begin pouring into Clark's bedroom. From the Saved by the Bell kids to PacMan

Clark: What the hell?

Ryan: Clark, I think you'll find our demands quite easy to handle.

Roscoe Coltrane: Ooooo. Shame, shame, shame. Everybody knows your name. Hah-gu-gu-gu!

Charley Brewster: Amy! Amy!!!

George Michael: Just kill me.

Clark: Listen, all of you freakshows better get the hell out of here right now before I call for help!

Pee Wee Herman: Who you gonna call?

The Ghostbusters: Ghostbusters!

Papa Smurf: Relax fellas. I say we just kick the living smurf out of him.

The gang begins to surround Clark

Clark: (deep gulp) Uh, just wait. Hold on. Th…this is all a misunderstanding..

Howard the Duck: Mention Kara on the show!

Clark: Its my show! I don't have to mention anybody I don't w--

Inspector Gadget: Go go Gadget Fists!

M.C. Hammer: Proper. Uh oh. Uh oh. Uh oh.

Hammer starts to dance crazily, coming dangerously close to slamming into the immobile Clark

Clark: Now just calm down here, guys. No need for violence. We're cool. Look! I feel like I know most of you personally. Like you (pointing) Emmanuel Lewis. I use to watch you all the time. We had some great times together, right?

Gary Coleman: Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Clark?

Clark: Sorry. Thought you were someone else.

Ryan: Come on, Clark. You mean to tell me you can mention Lana 40 times thus far but not Kara once.

Audrey 2: I say we eat him..

Clark: Whoa. Now hold on. I'm sure we can work something out. Like you, He-Man. You're a big guy. If you let me go you can play a zoner..

He-Man: And let such an obstacle steal my glory? No thank you. I'd rather besmirch Skeletor to redecorate Castle Grayskull.

Clark: I.. uh.. don't know what you said. But OK fine. How about you, Alf? You want a spot on our next episode? You get all the cats you can eat.

Alf: Sorry, Clark. I can't show up there. Things have been a bit awkward ever since I had that fling with Lana.

Jason Teague:(popping up out of nowhere) What?! Oh no! You too! Ahhhhhhh!

Jason runs from the room

Clark: (under his breath) I gotta stop eating Sloppy Joe's before bed.

Alicia: Clark, it doesn't look like your cooperating. You know what that means….

The group begins to circle Clark's chair.

Clark: No….no….

Mr. Wizard: It means we're gonna watch Golden Girls….

Clark: No….God no….

David Hasselhoff: And the "Flashdance" exotic dancing scenes. Thats right.. Jennifer Beals.. wet.. over and over again.

Clark: Oh no…no! Help!

Cut To: Outside the room….Housekeeper Stevens takes off her wig to reveal Lex Luthor. He's joined by Martha Kent.

Martha: All finished?

"Housekeeper" Lex: Yep. I coated all of his milk with LSD. He should be hallucinating for about twelve hours.

Martha: Thanks Lex. He's my son but.. he can be stubborn sometimes.

Lex: You're telling me, and I gave him those sponge baths for nothing.

Martha: You did what?

Lex: Uh Nothing.

Lex leaves. A voice rings out from the room

Clark: (From inside the room) Not the chair scene, not the chair scene! Help! The Snorks are eating my face!

----------------------

Wow, safe to say that this episode will feature plenty of Kara. Time for some Bloodline. Scroll down. Really. Like now.

Bloodline

I have to say kids, I have that grin again. The same one I had after seeing Commited. I was nervous about this episode when I heard that Mrs. Dries would be writing it. I didn't like I didn't exactly love Nemesis, Action really burned me (that cape scene ruined all enjoyment for that episode), Toxic got the lowest rating in this season. And saying Sleeper was horrible would be akin to me telling you that fish never get thirsty.

But Caroline, you delivered this time. This was your best work on the series, by far IMO.

Opening. Kent Farm. I hope he's not still dreaming. Oh look there's Lois. Now I know he's not dreaming. I have to join in with those who voiced their dislike of having the "Lois moving in" carrot dangled in front of us only to snatch it from us. Lois could have been at the Kent farm for a many reasons. I would have just had her over there playing Guitar Hero with Clark before he opens the box. Poor decision by Caroline, but thats minor. A funky paperweight with batteries. You have to love how Lois comes up with the craziest excuses for Clark. These two are made for each other. Wait for it.. wait for it.. strike a pose. Ha! Gotta love how TW extends his arms and overacts whenever he holds a crystal. Great opening, well done.

Still at the farm. Chloe continues not to like or trust Tess. I understand that but.. a BIRD!? That cannot be the best she could come up with. Tess brings up the cystal and Chloe starts grinning and smiling. That just gives you away Chloe. Don't you watch Judge Judy? Overall I just wished they had just went straight to the Phantom Zone and cut this scene.

Phantom Zone! I really love this place. Sure it doesn't get cable or the NFL package, but it makes any episode a great episode. The high winds, the fog, the dusty air, the sand hills, the loud noise, twin Suns, and now the latest thing- a river of blood. How eery was THAT? Definately not first date material. I love how Clark sprinted to Lois and gently helped her up. "We're not on Earth" "Thats impossible Lois". Did anyone else wanted to clock Clark for that horrible denial? I laughed and laughed when I first heard Lois say they had been abducted, then I felt sad when I realized that I would have thought the same. In the words of Rocky, I felt like a Kentunky Fried idiot. Great scene!

Isis. Davis wants to find his birth parents. Touching. But you know what would be better? If we go back to the Phantom Zone.

Phantom Zone! This. Was. AWESOME! Loved every second of it. Its a great change from the usual reserved Clark and fearless Lois. Lois trips and.. ITS CLANA! Well almost. This poor corspe is just sitting there minding its own business. Can I say again how much I LOVE a vunerable Lois and a heroic Clark!? How awesome was that? It just made my little tiny black heart melt into Hershey Kisses. She was so scared that you just want to hold her and protect her. He grabs her shoulder and goes all Superman on her. No one is going to mess with Lois and Clark. Damn straight! Let us proceed.

Its not a bird, and thats no plane.. its a maniac with a knife. Oh its Kara looking.. un Kara-ish. Clark's pretty brave for hugging her when she's looking like that. Did you all see the way she was sharpening that knife? Now, no way would I have said this thought out loud but "Kara, staying in the Zone is a little crazy..." And not only is she crazy, she wants Clark and Lois to both stay there and be crazy with her. Way to tell her Clark! Lois is going back. Loved all of this.

Oliver's Jet. There's Chloe again. You know, for a chick without superspeed she pops up everywhere. Oliver's facial expression when he realizes he's holding an alien crystal= priceless. I'd do the same, Oliver. Plus I'd shoot Chloe in the butt with a tiny arrow, but thats just for fun. "Mercy? Why didn't you just say so." Oh Oliver, a scorned lover are we? Stealing from them is better then leaving a note that says "You suck" on the door with spit, before ringing the doorbell, running to your car, and driving off. *mumbles under breath*. Ok nice scene, but you know what scene would be nicer? Do you? Yes, the Phantom Zone!

Phantom Zone! The more Lois goes on about Alien abductions, the worse I feel about myself. Clark tells her to go off with Kara. Uh...I'm a guy who is 5'10 170lbs and in excellent shape. And even I would tell Clark that I'd rather stay with him then go off with a Kara who looks like that and still has that maniac look in her eyes. "Its ok Lois, I'll be right behind you""...You better be." And they stare at each other as Lois walks off with Kara. My face is starting to hurt from the smiling I'm doing during these scenes.

Ok Zor-El was a SICK twisted man! What the helll was he thinking making a portal that looked like that. Thats no portal, thats a burial ground for Satan. Lois is braver than I am, I would have ran out of there faster than the time I went into that gay bar by accident. "The "alter" is this way". Whatever you say lady. "We just have to touch it", yeahhhh sure.. after you. Clark is getting his butt kicked and Lois was going to run back after him. There's my smile again. Kara shoves her in the portal, turns, and gets clocked by a giant flying cockroach. Yikes. Said cockroach enters Lois body. "This will do" Oh you bet it would.

Daily Planet. Holy hawtness Batman! When I first saw this scene I kinda zoned out on everything except Faora!Lois. She was doing something, saying something to someone, then left because of something. On the second viewing I actually paid attention. Don't you just hate when your speed reading gets interrupted by your boss? General Zod, Kal-El, Kryptonian space craft.. if it was me who she was talking to I would patiently waited until she finished talking then said said "Wait. You lost me after looking." Then again I probrably would get killed for that. "You want to exploit me?" Oh, Cedric, shut up. I DEFINATELY would have been killed after that question. What a woman. I hated to see her go but I loved watching her leave.

Phantom Zone! Poor Kara is trapped and just wants to die. I know the feeling Kara, but there's always an 8th season! Clark decides to stay with her. Good deal, Clark.

Isis. A Chlo-Lo scene. I guess the blue moon came early this century. That hug was all kinds of wierd. And the blank stare in ED's eyes is so chilling its hot. Nice idea running Chloe, because a Kryptonian couldn't possibily catch you in those heels. Surprisingly flexible? I know my mind isn't in the gutter all the time, this show is just messing with me. Wait for it.. yes! She's choking her! Ha ha! Next time.. on Smallville!

You will bow down before me Chloe Sullivan! I swear it! First you, and then one day, your heir!

Luthor Castle. The security in this place sucks. He just opened the door like it was nothing. Hasn't Tess seen those Brinks home security commercials? Ollie had to enjoy throwing that dart in her shoulder. That wasn't just for him, but was for everybody who misses Lex. A good scene albeit small.

Metropolis General. More hotness personified. This is the busiest this hospital has ever been, thats kinda sad. You know whats great about this scene and just kills me everytime I see it? Faora has this motherly "aww thats my creation" look on her face. Just pure pride.. until she sees Davis high fives that little boy and help him off the bed. Then the music changes and she gets this look of horor on her face. Ha ha ha! Kills me everytime. "You helped him.." Oh that bastard! Ha ha ha!

"All I need is you my son.. mother's here," followed by a lengthy hug. Davis let me tell you what to do in this situation: Shut your mouth and go along with it. A hot crazy woman with amnesia doesn't just walk into your life everyday. You don't question a gift like this. You just accept it.

Isis. Oh, great. And still with the attitude eh Chloe? So now Oliver realizes how dangerous she is. Join the party dude. Clark's got to put a stop to this asap.

Phantom Zone! The speech was a little cheesy, however the message behind it I'm totally for. Giving up and accepting a circumstance is not heroic, its the opposite. Hopefully Kara comes out better for this experience. The end result of all of this is that SuperChloe saved the day and they ended up at Isis, which I'm not the biggest fan of but thats just another minor gripe.

Met General. A coffee, Davis? Are you insane? Cue the Doomsday story. I loved how they are meshing this into Smallville. It really fits within the story and I think a lot of fears regarding the direction of this arc went out the window in this one episode. Wow, she stabbed him in the gut with a metal pole. I felt a little bad for Davis throughout all of this. Then I saw Faora whisper in his ear, lucky bastard.

Either thats the sound of Clark superspeeding in or someone just let go a big one. Ah, its Clark. "You're too late, Kal El". I know why he did it but still...the look on Clark's face after Faora said that caused me to pause the episode from laughter. It was like Faora told him "I'm really a man." It was so sudden and unexpected. He couldn't believe it! Ha ha ha! It doesn't stop him though as he just grabs her. I liked how Clark tells Lois he's sorry, even if she couldn't hear him. Here it goes.. "You have feelings for this creature I inhabit" And no deny or change of emotion from Clark. YES!!! Now all thats left is for him to tell her!

Wow. Just wow.

Clark is panting, Lois gets on top of him, Clark has a look of anguish on his face, Lois looks triumphant.

"Lois.. stop."

"Lois can't hear you..."

Cedric may be done..

Kara shows up and.. this can either get really interesting or come to a swift conclusion. Dammit Kara! But OH?! What is this!? Lois gasps and collaspes on top of him while he pants away.

Caroline, you freak.

Clark are you ok?

(looking down) Yeah um, give a few minutes.

Davis opening his eyes is just the thing to snap me out of all of this.

Daily Planet. Tess giving Lois a raise gave me a chuckle because I know she's up to no good. Arabian Knights acid trip. Thats one way to put it, Lois. Again, having her say she was moving in when she already told him no in Instinct, then having her change her mind was silly to me. Err. Knight in shining armor? Lois you are so caught. "Kent, Miss Mercer wants to see you." Did you guys see the way that dude said that? And that look on his face too! Ass needed to be kicked then and there.

I liked this convo between Tess and Clark. Much like their first DP meeting. Again, kudos to Clark for holding his ground. Why is it that only when he's around Tess is he actually a good liar? But that footprint so gave him away. Things are getting good between these two.

Kent farm. The Oliver and Clark friendship has been handled better in recent weeks, and if this will be the status quo from here on out then I would like their scenes together to be longer and, you know, not all about Chloe. Still Oliver's point is a good one. Chloe is out of control and has to be stopped for her own protection, no matter what excuse she gives Clark.

Barn scene. How great was this? Just wonderfully done. The music, their tones with each other, the acting, everything. I am one of those that felt adding Kara as a regular last season was a huge mistake, and still do. But Kara in guest appearances would work. She just shined here. Back to her old self and not the crazed hermit lady she was in the Phantom Zone. Clark sounds like he would be ok with telling Lois his secret. This would be a HUGE leap for Clark. He's never told someone his secret without being forced into it. I'm surprised that the producers are bringing this up this soon.

"Lois can handle it, she's tough.. strong. You wouldn't have let her get so close if you didn't think so too" Right on, Kara!

Loved the Kandor mention and I thought this was a great way to wrap up her story. Ah dang, this is really sad. No man tears, no man tears, blink Cedric blink faster! Whew.. I made it through.

Davis is now invincible to any stab wound! Awesome cliffhanger!

What.. a.. episode. I didn't know Caroline had it in her! So much was covered. The pace was a little quicker but I liked that. Lovedddd the Phantom Zone. We got a good finish to Kara's journey on the show. Another kink in the Chloeac arc. A great twist and good progress on Davis' arc. And I LOVEDDDD the Clois. It was off the charts. Clark was so heroic in this episode with the way he assured Lois that she's be safe in the PZ and fought for her as she escaped the PZ, and wouldn't leave his cousin behind. This episode was his "Instinct" with him not being able to deny his feelings for Lois to someone else. It was all over his face and displayed in his actions. And there should be no going back. I wouldn't be surprised if in their next episode together (and you all know what that is) that he tells her how he feels or comes close to.

I've gone back and forth between Bloodline and Commited but Bloodline, and Bloodline loses out ever so slightly. This gets a 9 out 10. Smallville is the best kept secret on Thursdays.

Next week, the episode I've been waiting for!

As far as I'm concerned this episode was a dar, dark day.

Despite the (only) 10 minutes of Kara (thanks BadToad!), and quite a lot of Erica I actually really enjoyed this episode, I think everybody did a great job (yeah even ED suprised me with her acting ;)) so I gave it 10 :D

as for Laura (who is the only reason why I watched this episode) :
I must admit that watching her last scene was bitter sweet to me because on the one hand she got a sweet & awesome send off but on the other hand I knew Laura didn't want to leave so I felt bad for her :(

Anyway even though this was great I prefer to read the companion book until Lana comes back :p

AWESOME review as always Cedric! I loved all the Kent farm interview. Oh, and Alicia calling Clark “Clarkie” - WOW!

Clark: Oh wow. Will you look at that. I thought you all were dead. I'd love to sit here and catch up with you Genevieve, but I have this rule about not talking to women over 40. Ha-ha, nice excuse!
Oh my! You mentioned Alf there – WOW, WOW, WOW – that’s AMAZING! (I would not mind to see Alf on Smallville. fling with Lana - poor Alf :rotfl:)
And Lex Luthor as Housekeeper. Priceless! :D

But Caroline, you delivered this time. This was your best work on the series, by far IMO. I think the same way! I was pleasantly surprised by Caroline Dries writing this time. :)

Cedric, you never disappoint.

I loved Bloodline except had to give it a 9 because for me Lois wasn't quite Lois in the PZ. Fearless Lois is much more my speed. But I have to admit that the parallel of the two of them wanting to protect each other while in the Phantom Zone was pretty darn cool.

As for Kara, I also agree that she is better in small doses. I never really hated her, but everything about her, from writing to acting, needed improvement. But I loved, loved, loved her wearing the El family S necklace and showing it to Clark. Giving you any ideas, Clark???? And her take off and exit? Super bittersweet.

Oliver- too funny for words. And hot too.

Chloe- too cute for words.

Davis- too hot for words.

Okay, can't babble on like I want to. Now I need to go lie down again; sick and nauseous from the thought of next week without Lois.

This episode (pardon the pun) blew me away. Seeing Kara again reminded me what makes this show great. Most of the one liners were funny and worked for the situation. I know they had only one episode to deal with the zoners but it seemed rushed. As for Zod's wife that was a strange twist I didn't see coming and the fact that those 2 made Doomsday was scary. Then there's Chloe, useing the powers of Bariniac and Jor-El she singal hanndedly stole the show. I'm sad to see Kara go but at least they had it ending better than just killing her off so she could never come back. Next week looks chilling, I hope we hear from Jor-El again.

I give it a 20/10. this is another one of my fav season 8 eps, the first being committed. I Just love all the CLois scenes this ep and so far this season. ED was amazing being evil. i'm glad she finally got temp powers. and the fact that Clark has realized he cared for Lois. Even Kara knew it. "Lois can handle it. She's tough, strong. You wouldn't have let her get so close if you didn't think so too.

10/10

Best episode out of the season.

LOVED EVERYTHING!

I LOVED how Kara told Clark he has to save the world on his own...she can't interfere in his life anymore. It was a bitter sweet moment between them.

Lois as Faora...AMAZING! DAMN can Erica ACT GOOD! I got goosebumps how brilliantly evil she was.

The ending with Doomsday...amazing!

Chloe intervening to save Clark/Kara..AMAZING!

LOVED the special effects..FINALLY they are all back!!

It was exhilarating. Nuff' said.

I agree, the ending was breathtaking. Though, I wish they didn't have to end her story line. Look what they did within 5 minutes! She totaly blown 4.81 million people away!! Now if we had 10 more episodes with her, the new producers, and smarter writers, IMAGINE WHAT KARA'S CHARACTER WOULD TURN INTO!!

I hope she comes back, lol, the next Lana! :rotfl:

Great season 8 episode!!! I loved all the superman references. Loved Kara coming back, Clark needed some family for at least a little while....and CHLOE, Oh mah god!! she was freaking AWESOME!! I loved how she didn't let Ollie get in the way to save her friends.

....I gotta be honest though, I wasn't always for Clark & Lois. But now I see how much chemistry they have, they are so funny together and they care a lot for each other as well. I can't wait until they realize how much they actually care for each other.

1) Jor-El told clark that part of his journey was to look after Kara, as much as she was willing to sacrafice her life, it could've been more about what he said about her being his only family, ect....but the continuity seemed good.

2) Lois (faora) said to davis, he arrived as genetic matter, she said to chloe that it atatched itself to clarks ship...how Jor-El missed that, i hope they clear up.

3) Looked back in season 7, clarks blanket when they put him in the ship was yellow....has this been the same color for all clips of his blanket?

4) Maybe Jor-El altered the crystal so clark would save kara, though brainiac controling chloe would be a huge twist, but would make more sense if she was blacking out...unfortunately davis already does that.

5) I'm starting to now believe the older you are as a kryptonian the stronger your abilities are...when Faora pushed clark through the wall and onto the vehicle, clark seemed to struggle to get her off, after kara used MM crystal, clark seemed like he was somewhat tired, with anyone else clark would've thrown them off or done something else...so maybe this is how smallville will incorporate his training, making him stronger.

6) DD storyline is getting interesting, like how Faora said to davis, what kills you, makes you stronger.

any other feedback or things you liked, please respond....

I'm curious about how Lois had the abilities because didn't Lex have to have that virus put into him first to have the Kryptonian powers?

Secondly,

2) Lois (faora) said to davis, he arrived as genetic matter, she said to chloe that it atatched itself to clarks ship...how Jor-El missed that, i hope they clear up.

Maybe Brainiac got them to do it when he went back in time? That would be the best explanation because we'e only now started to see Davis etc...

i gave it an 8.5. here's why:

it WAS good, don't get me wrong. but we all knew kara wasn't staying for the show, so it ruined the end for me because i knew that she was going to leave (but i liked how the writers incorporated the possibility of kandor being still out there...it wasn't a whole angsty goodbye like other past characters). also, the lois/faora action occurred in the last 20 minutes of the episode. i thought it would go on for most of the episode. the ending threw me off, too. are we starting to see the doomsday version of davis? or is it just another teaser, like prey?

here's what i liked:

first off, the continuity of the phantom zone. 'nuff said.

also...KARA!!! i forgot how much i missed her presence on the show.

the cataract-infested chloe summoning clark via the crystal. that...was...freaky! my mouth was to the floor when she was doing that!

and the davis story. WHAT??? it's so farfetched, but at the same time, so unbelievably brilliant that it makes perfect sense! i was like, oh...my...gawd!

that's it. have a wonderful day =]

BLOODLINE was brilliant.....SV is returning to what made it great....

What I liked:

ED!!! WOW!!! She was awsome as Faora. Cold, tiwsted, and sadistic....
Kara. Her character had more depth and grace...hope it's not the last we see of her.
Chloe!!! She just keeps blowing my mind...
DB...the slow revelation of his nature is perfect...
CLOIS!!! What I didn't like:

Lois dismissing her ordeal by accepting the passsing-out story...lets come up with a better cover-up story PLEASE....Season 8 is turning out to be pretty impressive.....I think this is in part because we are seeing more of the mythos.... Hope it keeps going that way.....and I'm crossing my firngers for S9.........

The amazing thing is that it is all the same writers from season 7, and probably season 6! I can only surmise that Al and Miles were the limiting factors on this creative team. Oh, why did Al and Miles not quit in April of 2006? Why did they wait until April of 2008? Imagine what this new and improved creative team could have done over the last two years with Lex, Lana, and Lionel thrown into the mix as well.

i gave the episode a 5

there where some nice moments... Lois freaking out that they were going to die and Clark comforting her by saying 'no one is going to mess with Lois and Clark' (thought i think just Lois Lane would have been better), the cheeky grin Ollie got when he realised he was going to be stealing from Mercy, every bit of chlollie, Lois posessed) i thought ED did a great job

but as i watched the episode i felt like i was back in season 7, and not just because of Kara. It was because of my constantly furrowed brow. It went a bit like this.

Lois is moving in? How the hek is that going to work with him super speeding to work? And isn't Lois still allergic to Shelby? is he even still on the farm? oooh look, the crystal! wait why is it glowing... they are in the phantom zone? since when did the crystal do that... why would the crystal do that? Kara attacked them... she thought they were phantoms... clark in his bright red very human looking jacket and Lois having made loads of noise with her yelling about dying, and she mistook them for phantoms? Kara stayed because there are loads of phantoms lined up to break out... ooookay i can accept that i guess... why is Ollie so hard to get hold of? and why did he seem so hesitant to help? bit OOC, i mean he didnt seem to give a crap that they were missing just because it was an alien problem! and why did he talk to mercy like she was his ex... bit of a give away! okay zod created doomsday... what? i guess i'll have to get used to that one, right so now they are opening the portal for Lois... how is Clark stopping the phantoms exactly... isnt he powerless here? what is he doing to stop all the phantoms that Kara was too afraid too unleash on earth? or did they just have an off day? ollie is concerned for chloe, that's sweet... but Clark says he's done everything he can to help Chloe? what has he done? he's done nothing about it... he's not even asked martian manhunter or kara about it, both of whom might know a little about brainiac infections...

anyway, i'm going to end my review by saying i think that Lois and Clark were both incredibly attractive this episode :P

Wow, you are expressing everything I had thought too when watching this episode. It reminded me way too much of season 6 to like it. It also kind of regressed Clark a little bit, because he had to be saved twice and he got lectured twice, as Petitemimi rightly mentioned somewhere here. To me this was certainly one of the weaker episodes this season, and I don´t see that Caroline Dries has redeemed herself.

I gave it a 9, it was between the 8 and 9 but I am in a good mood today lol. Seriously, it was a great episode, I liked it very much especially Clark who became very self confident and with a Lois very fragile for once...

While I have frequently read over these boards, this is my first foray into posting some thoughts.

All in all I thought this was a good episode and a decent, thoughtful farewell to Kara/Laura Vandervoort. I'm glad we finally got to see the recaps acknowledging her presence last season as any new viewers who jumped on this season would have had no idea she was ever on the show. I'm glad Lois and Chloe both recognized and remembered Kara, but it still remains unexplained why she hadn't been mentioned up until this point. Although Lois' "oh my god Kara...you've been abducted too?" comment kind of made me chuckle. Maybe Lois was the only one all along noticing that Clark's cousin had vanished w/out a trace.

I liked how Kara somewhat "burned" Clark with her "the same thing that would have happened to you if you had spent more than one day here" comment kind of implying what I'm sure all us Kara fans have been thinking: "Where the heck have you been and why the hell haven't you been looking for your only living blood relative?". Aside from that moment, I thought the scenes between the two were touching...especially when Clark begged her not to stay and die (yes, I too am raising my hand to say I also feared she would be left to die in the phantom zone). I almost teared up at the end, when they said goodbye.

I think what we have had here on Smallville in regard to Kara mirrored Supergirl's situation in the comics prior and up to CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (back in 1985 for any non-comics fans)...in that it was felt by a vocal group of fans and writers that Supergirl's treatment up to CRISIS was just shoddy (and damaging Superman) and that it was her death in CRISIS #7 that many fans lamented as being "the best Supergirl story they'd ever read." I say that because I've read the comments on here from viewers who admitted to not liking her at all during Season 7 but saying this was her best episode yet.

Now...while the ending was heartwarming and respectful to Kara/Laura Vandervoort (and, yes, I too appreciated the nod to Kandor), I would've preferred an ending that really gave us closure and explained how she remains a teenager when Clark becomes Superman. As many others have stated, I think letting Laura Vandervoort stay on through the Legion episode could have provided for that (i.e. she ends up going into the future with them). In lieu of that, I think the perfect resolution would have been to take a page out of Peter David's "Many Happy Returns" from his SUPERGIRL run: have it be revealed Kara's arrival in Smallville was due to her rocket being diverted from her true timeline (where it arrives later in Clark's adult life) and that Kara must go back to that original timeline to die in the CRISIS to save the universe. Of course, that would require some Smallville-esque tweaking of the Spectre and the Fatalist (the two cosmic characters in the "Many Happy Returns" storyline responsible for misplacing and then returning the original Kara to her timeline). But if they can do it for Doomsday, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and now the Legion, they can do it for the Spectre. With that said, my opinion is that the ratings spike with this episode and the closure necessary to reconcile Kara's current appearance with her age when Clark becomes Superman absolutely necessitates at least another appearance by Laura Vandervoort. Let's hope the producers took note.

I just want to add that for this epi I was very impressed by the way Lois looked. When I saw the trailer I was not sure it was her (I thought it was another actress who acted the villain and Lois/ED was kept in phantom zone or something like that). But when I have discovered it was ED, I found amazing the way she makep up and she acted, it was so well done, amazing really...

This was an ok episode, not great... I had a lot of issues with it, too many to fully get into (I can write out a complete list if anyone's interested in a good debate though, just say the word). But I did like some stuff: I liked Lois & Clark in the phantom zone, with Lois being completely out of her element and terrified. Didn't like how it all just got so easily written off as some sort of dream though. I liked Davis getting killed and coming back impervious. My absolute favorite part of the episode though, was near the end, when Kara flew off for good into the Great Unknown, once and for all, never to return.:) So that Smallville never has to waste time on her, or her ridiculous character, ever again. (I'm a sucker for happy endings. )

Cedric, when you write that book I will buy it! Thanks for the encouragement, though my marathon isn't for a while yet. However I have discovered a new motivation....Clana. Every time I even think it, I go all  and seem to run faster...lol...

Do you reckon all the die-hard Clana fans are tuning in on Thursday nights and wondering what the heck happened to their show? The only thing that pleases me more is that season 8 is finally going to be on a tv station in the UK...woohoo!

 Wow, if you can turn Clana into inspiration for training then maybe something good came from it afterall. I have Lana's pic taped on a dart board in my basement. Yesterday I got her right in the eye.

I hope you do well, and when you have your big race let me know how well you did.

 yeah that made me laugh too. I had wondered, if Lois and Kara were on such good terms that Kara borrowed Lois' jeans, how come Lois never mentioned to Clark that she suddenly vanished.

Meant to say as well, I see where you're coming from here (though as I was only born in 1985 I wasn't reading CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTH ). I would've liked more of Kara, I mean she was in a whole season and then somehow one episode is all she gets to do her story justice? But if the producers listen to you :D and bring her back again, I might not mind so much. I don't think she was as well written as she could've been though (AlMiles have a lot to answer for).

Yeah...I'm glad I finally decided to start posting too. I've been reading the boards since last season. :) Just to note, I was only four in 1985 (being born in 1981 myself), but I've since purchased and read the re-released CRISIS hardcover. ;) That's the only reason I know that bit of trivia I mentioned previously. Thank you for the warm responses. I'm glad to be here. :) Let's keep our fingers crossed the producers listen to fans like us and noticed the ratings spike and ask Laura V. to come back!

As for a season 9, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I have absolutely loved this show. At the moment I'm leaning toward thinking the show should quit while it's ahead and end with Season 8. A show can only go so long before running out of ideas, and even I will admit I believe there were already several times last season and this season where I felt it was starting to "jump the shark." Kristen (Lana) and Michael (Lex) have already left and moved on (with the exception of Kristen's 5-episode return, which it sounds like producers really had to negotiate to get). Justin (Ollie), Cassidy (Tess), and Samuel (Davis/doomsday) just can't replace those two. That isn't to diminish their acting abilities or addition to the cast. Producers already had to really negotiate once to get Allison (Chloie) to remain this season. I'm sure she and Tom (Clark) would like to move on to bigger and better things after 8 years. And I would much rather Smallville end on a high note with stellar ratings than to continue and finally end with dismal ratings due to the show running so long and thus running out of steam. Anyhoo...that's how I feel right now.

Cedric, you are a genius. I so want to steal your description of the PZ and call it mine. But I'll be good.*sigh* And thanks for pointing out what to me was a key point: Kara wasn't being heroic by staying in the PZ. She was being defeatist and yes, a little crazy. Letting the fear of consequences outway the benefits of action.

Kara was never my favorite character, mainly because of LV's rather limited acting range. But this was a touching send off for her.

PS - they also mentioned Martha this episode. First time in a LOOOONG time.

I don't think there's a need to have Martha in the show anymore. It's not that I don't like the character, but I think with Clark trying to be established as being as adult as possible, there's no need for a return from his mother.

This was quite a solid episode. I give it probably an 8/10. It had some great action and suspense, good drama, a nice guest appearance by Laura Vandevoort as Kara, excellent Clois beats, some very intriguing stuff involving Chloe and the crystal, waaaaay creepy stuff with Faora and Davis, and more. This part of the season (Episodes 7-12) was the best, in my opinion. All those episodes are solid and way cool.

I personally loved this episode and thought that it was the best one that I had seen since the beginning of the season. All of the Kara/Faora events were just brillant and my favorite scenes.:p Plus, Lois thinking that she got abducted by aliens was just hilarious! But I have to give it to her, she technically did, making it even better! :rotfl: Davis at the end shattering the knife on his chest was also a great moment! :D 10/10 is my vote! :)

Okay my only problem with the episode is that they kept Clark fighting the Zoners offscreen...

But its still a 10 episode. When you do things like Phantom Zone, Kara, Doomsday, LnC well it's a no-brainer. This was the best episode for Kara and seeing "Supergirl" in S10 made me hope "Bloodline" was her last.

Erica Durance deserves a special mention. Although Lois is tough I liked how she kinda panicked in the PZ (very understandable). Erica played that well and it let Clark be the hero and utter awesome lines like "No-one is messing with Lois and Clark". When Lois turned into Faora I was shocked at how different Erica played her. I mean with those expressions and mannerisms she could play a serial killer or something. The looks she gives to Tess for example is just...awesome in a weird sick seductive kinda way.

After "Prey" and "Identity" and even "Bloodline" I don't mind if Clark needs rescueing. Especially when Kara needs the screentime. And Clark already saved her so it was only fair to return the favour.
