Which role do you like better for Jimmy? as Chloe's Love Interest or as CK's pal?

1. Love him much more as Clark's pal Jimmy Olsen, like he was in IDENTITY

2. Love him much more as Chimmy shippy Jimmy, as Chloe's boyfriend

I hated the Jimmy character from when he first appeared right up to well probably Identity, although I've been slowly warming to him these past few weeks. So I guess I prefer him as Clarks pal. Although it could just be the new Powers that Be making everything so much better this season. Either way I like him as Clarks buddy :)

Jimmy Olsen will be Clark Kent's best friend and how he becomes that it's what I wanted to see from day one. They wasted him with chimmy,that sometimes is cute and all but, It's not what Jimmy Olsen deserves.

Now that they closed the chlark and Jimmy doesn't fear Clark they are able to become the iconic friends they are destinied to be and I'm glad.

I much prefer Jimmy as Clark's pal. I'm not against Chimmy exactly (though I'd still rather see Clark and Chloe together) but I think Jimmy works best as photographer, friend and budding reporter. It's when he looks most competent and is most interesting.

The funny thing is, in the comics that's pretty much all Jimmy is--Superman's Pal. That's pretty much the definition of his character. So it's interesting that Smallville's take on him would go the other way.

yeah, at last I see that I am not the only one who hate the Jimmy character. As I said in another topic it's the first time I appreciate Jimmy thanks to "identity". For once, he is showed as intelligent and mature. A big change, ouf ! So I think it's better for him to be Clark's friend. I didn't know he would become CK's best friend. I hope they will explore this friendship, it's really better for A. Ashmore to play THE friend than the lover...

This is exactly how I feel. :)

Loved Jimmy in this episode! I actually didn't even skip past any of his scenes like I normally would when I re-watched it. His interactions with the other characters was truly entertaining!:)

And I think AA did an EXCELLENT job portraying Jimmy's REVELATIONS about Clark. :lol: i was laughing and grinning ear to ear. :D Loved his excitement and his reaction to Clark and Chloe. I enjoyed his scene with Lois as well.

I can't stand Chimmy. Ugh!:( But Jimmy in photo-journalist mode is fun and refreshing. Love the iconic Jimmy Olsen's enthusiasm for his job and as CK's and Lois' colleague.

It seems that most fans really liked seeing this aspect of him best, and enjoyed the way he was portrayed by AA in this IDENTITY episode especially.

Looks like they've finally pegged Jimmy's IDENTITY. :)

I'm cool with him being Chloe's boyfriend. She in some ways takes the place of Lucy Lane from the comics. Not so sure about him being her husband. But CK's pal is iconic Jimmy.

Jimmy has a lot of potential, yet lately he's been shackled as Chloe insecure boyfriend. Don't get me wrong, finding the Fever letter was an excellent character development- but Jimmy needs his own drive. Seeing him aggressively pursue stories - especially Clark centric stories- are a much better use of the actor than as a constant companion for Chloe.

You're not alone in your thinking. "pal" is pretty much his self-appointed label in the Supes comics, etc.thus why I used the term. (just like "girlfriend" was Lois' self-appointed label back when she had her own comicbook as well, though in those comics, Supes never thought of her as such), But I agree It's more of a little brother vibe. He is supposed to be the same age in SV, though, so more like his peer, but I loved AA's portryal of him this epi.

I really enjoyed Jimmy and Clark in this episode. I also loved the moments when he was putting together the fact that the hero is Clark. Was there anybody in your high school that stood out? Who indeed? His expression of revelation was so much fun to see, and I was happy he figured it out. Go Jimmy! Only trickery threw him off the path. I was so disappointed that he ultimately went back to thinking it was someone else, but at least he put it together before they took it away, and it was nice seeing that. Drat!

^I agree. I'm very excited that Jimmy and Clark are working together more and that friendship is growing between them. Jimmy was so admiring of Clark when he discovered his secret. :D

I love Jimmy with Chloe but of course I love him most when he's taking photographs. I think Jimmy is happiest when he's chasing down a great story and looking for the perfect shot. I feel that way not only when he works with Clark but also when he works with Lois. He's worked with Chloe a few times too. :D

His relationship with Chloe is nice but... it's a very small part of who Jimmy is.

I get the point. *shrug* But he is both Chloe's fiance and Clark's pal. I enjoy both. I love both. But between the two... Jimmy in action is most fun.

I completely agree! I've said it before and I'll say it again. Chloe crying after Clark while he chased fake-preganant, engaged-to-Lex, Lana? What could be worse?! Enter Jimmy to save us all from that nightmare!

I'm not a Chimmy hater, but I much prefer Jimmy the Photographer at the Daily Planet. Aaron Ashmore has shown in Identity that he can do the iconic Jimmy, he's not just been given the opportunity much.

I've just been watching the beginning of season 6 where Chimmy first kick-starts and I think they are actually very cute together- but he could be any guy, there isn't much to distinguish him as "Jimmy Olsen". That's my main problem with Chimmy, but it is getting better as season 8 goes on.

How anyone could get that excited over the Chloe/Jimmy ship is beyond me.

They are about entertaining as watching paint dry. :\

The most fun I had with that ship was watching them in SLEEPER. It was the only episode I got kind of a kick out of them together. :)

It seems quite a few fans (from what I've been reading on here and other sites) like seeing "iconic" Jimmy (best friend to CK, photographer, etc.) best. I don't know if it's just that people are tired of "shipping" or what.

I don't think that this aspect of Jimmy is new. This is who he's always been. We've just never seen him in this context with Clark. It's like comparing Clark Kent on a date to Clark Kent saving people and being a hero. Both can be nice but... of course... one is more exciting and representative of who he is than the other.
