I defnitely gasped... I felt like it was a double whammy... it was referencing Superman II and when Clark mind-wipes Lois. But, also, I think it was foreshadowing for "Abyss" when Clark chooses what Chloe will remember and what she won't....

Thats exactly what I thought too!! I dont know why they would have brought it up...unless thats what happens in Abyss.... Which honestly makes me pretty sad....
But yes....definitely made me think of Clark mind wiping Lois! :)
I just wanted to scream "Yes you can Clark!!!!"

It was when Clark was trying to convince Ollie to help him. That he cant change who knows his secrets...but he can stop another persons life from being ruined...and he doesnt have the power to mind wipe people.

Chloe: Lex knows, Clark! You have to kiss him!
Clark: ...you know, it might not be the worst thing, him knowing...

It shows that the writers read the forums! What a nod to us!

It was such a cool line! I am really loving how the writers are pulling the standard cannon into the show. They have minimally done it before, but it's been in overload this season, I think I may explode --- from pure joy, of course. Watching Clark become Superman is so exciting!

is it just me or has this season been the most balanced season up to this point?? I mean, each episode has a few things in it that make up for anything that is wrong with the episode. every ending makes u feel like u need to watch the next episode. no disrespect those two guys that started the series up but them leaving might be the best thing to happen to the show since Lois came on the show to give us another beauty to look at!! anyone else agree??

I agree 100%. The first guys seemed to only want the story THEIR way, but the new guys are looking at the story from what WE want

When Clark said that line I immediately went to DC comics and Zatanna's mind wipe and Identity Crisis and all that. I thought "no, but Zatanna can! Give her a call!"

^Hehehe I had the exact thought! Identity Crisis is one of the best things I've ever read. It really made me start taking comics seriously. They're not just "funny books", they're literature.

That's interesting because Identity Crisis was the beginning of the end of my love affair with DC Comics. I read on for a bit after that but shortly after IC (and Infinite Crisis) I dropped all my DC books and haven't picked any up since.
But I agree with you, they are not just "funny books".

Ohh that's really a shame. Right now is a fantastic time to be reading DC comics, especially if you're a Superman fan. Geoff Johns and James Robinson are doing AMAZING things in the Action Comics and Superman titles. Especially Johns on Action. He just wrapped up an EPIC 6 issue arc involving Brainiac, and now the bottle city of Kandor has been opened on Earth, resulting in 100,000 Supermen and women on the planet. It's crazy good, and it's being universally hailed as the best thing to happen to the Superbooks in years

I'm a little confused about what's happened to Lucy and Ron, and the baby. I think I missed something.
But Superman comics are great. I'm glad that Smallville is going more in their direction.

i hope its not a foreshadowing moment i will have a hissy if its true
I really hope it isn't a foreshadowing issue at all, especially not referencing his kissing BS. Lamest power ever, and let's not forget that it was created as a cop-out for Superman II, instead of the original Donner ending which they switched to Superman the Movie when they realized that they would have to divide StM into two movies and totally cut Donner out of the sequel.

You know, one thing I never really understood was how in the Superman movie Clark mind wiped Lois, can anyone explain it, I mean I know he did it, but how? Is that actually supposed to be one of his powers or something? I've always been confused about it.
Well in Superman II he can mind-wipe people by making out with them, which begs some interesting questions about what he does if he needs to mind wipe a guy, but that's neither here nor there. It's not one of his traditional powers, they made it up for the movie (they also use it in S4, which says a lot about how lame of a power it is).

Yeah, I know about the "New Krypton" storyline and the acclaim it's been getting. (I have Newsarama bookmarked and I subscribe to Wizard so I keep up on the comics news, even the stuff I don't buy.) It's enough to get me interested again. I'll wait until that storyline is in trade form and pick it up at the library and if I like it....
But the last few years have not, IMO, been a good time to be a DC fan. I know a lot of people would disagree though.

I've got to agree here. It felt like a terrible, cheap cop-out in SM II and it would be even worse if they brought it to Smallville. One of the most fun aspects of this show is watching Clark's progression with his friends and the dynamics created by who knows and who doesn't. If he can just pick and chose who knows, the tension created by that and any issues surrounding people discovering his secret will disappear. It would be a pretty bad move by TPTB :\

lol so good theres a kryptonsite
although i love superman i dont know all too much about the comics, just the bare basics and what ive learned from smallville and recent season 8 since it alludes more to superman than previous seasons in my opinion.

I don't think they'll bring up this ability, it was just a nod to the movie. In any case, Superman would not be able to kiss his wife because he would be wiping her mind every time he did. Maybe he was wearing a mind wiping lipstick in SII. ;)
