What was Clark thinking when he went to Tess to tell her that he didn't want to be on the story? Come on, Clark!

First, when do you get to tell your boss, "Oh, gee, I just don't feel like working on that."

Second, making a big deal out of it will only raise suspicions. She already knows that Lex was interested in Clark Kent. The fact that Clark is basically asking her to kill a story about a mysterious hero - well, duh!

And third, if Clark had just shut up and written the story, he'd have the opportunity to spin it the way he wanted. Now he's lost that opportunity, and since he indicated he wasn't interested, he probably won't get to work on future stories about the mysterious superhero. Lost your chance, Clark!

You idiot.

And that was Clark's BDA moment of the episode! (Well, maybe that and speeding into the apartment before checking if Lois was there...)

I don't think that was too bad of him. He tried to crush the story. Big whoop.

To me it smacked of complete and total desperation. However, it was dumb and there is no way that his actions didn't set off alarm bells in Tess' head. Given the heroics she witnessed in Plastique and what Lex told her, she may have put the pieces together.

It was dumb, but it was also very much Smallville.

lol yea i mean making a big deal out of it WILL make a big deal out of it
AND if anybody said that in real life to their boss, especially refusing something that would make them FAMOUS, would sooo get fired. saying no to your boss would genrally get you fired in general lol

I thought the exact same thing. Lois and Jimmy are trying to fill Clark in on the 'don't turn down stories' at the DP, yet he seems to only go around and yell 'There is no mysterious figure! Its a reflection!'

Uh... saying it more often doesn't make it true, Clark.
