I know I have a thread like this but about the node. Was she telling the truth in Instinct?

I think you mean "Committed" instead of Instinct.
well like others have said in the other threads, there's no way Lois would have been that emotional after being asked the question, leading up to her small "sob" if she was lying.
Plus, she was avoiding Clark after that until Clark ran up to her and to confront her about it. However, being the nice guy that he is, he decided to give her a way out, while still trying to get some more info about her confession.
Unfortunately, for him however, he didn't expect her to take his way out so well and add another lie to it.
So to sum it all up. To prove that Lois "wasn't" lying in her confession.
1. She was very hesitant and even started to cry leading up to her answer.
2. When Clark was asked the question if "he" loves her, she was also crying again because here she reveals her deepest secret to a guy whom she thinks won't return her feelings.
3. When Clark rescues Lois, she can't even look at him straight.
If Lois had lied, and slipped off the sensor from her finger, the Jeweler would have seen it since he was right next to her when he asked her the question, and the machine wouldn't work to begin with.

I felt bad for her... she was so telling the truth, but not to the day, but to herself.

Of course she was telling the truth
1. the darn machine was still picking up her pulse after she answered the question
2. She was in tears, shaking, out of breath, panicking before she said yes..it took three times to make her answer. And she couldnt even look at clark in the face until she said it and after she said it. All the actions of someone who was trying to hide the truth...
3. She was lying at the end in the elevator, THAt was a lie... she is a terrible liar. Then the look of relief on her face after he buys it lol.
4. She was avoiding him at the DP the day after....and she's STILL avoiding him in Prey and identity.
5. when people lie, they look down to avoid eye contact..yet when she said "yes" she looked up at clark directly in the eyes.

She was still inloved with Oliver in Toxic, so of course she was lying!
She still loves Oliver!
Even when she was banging Grant, she still had feelings for Oliver!
She was lying in Committed!

ok right^^^
even though Erica Durance has told us that Lois did in fact confess her love for clark in Smallville season 8
also if it was a lie it would mean nothig to the plot, it would be a total waste of screen time and wouldnt eveb be added into the episode.
Im certain sometime towards the end of the season, lois will confirm that she was telling the truth.

She wasn't still involved with Ollie during 'Toxic'...You can love someone without being IN love with them..which is something specific that ED herself addressed in one of her interviews about her and Oliver's relationship this season...(I can't remember which one because there were so many, sorry)
I don't think she was lying..She wouldn't have been so emotional or torn about her answer if she was...She was clearly shook up in the after math..And if she had lied she would have cleared it up right then and there that she lied and slipped the censor off her finger..And there wouldn't have been that long awkward pause during the elevator scene...Plus she wouldn't have avoided Clark...

She was SO telling the truth. Her avoidance of him later in the episode plus the extreme emotional stress while answering the question is proof of that. Had she been lying and pulled the sensor off her finger she wouldn't have been so nervous; she would have said "Yes" and been done with it.

I would love it if before the end of the season she would confess to chloe her feelings for clark and ask her(chloe) how she (lois) could fall for him (clark).

She wasn't lying. She really loves Clark. OP have already stated exactly why I believe why she wasn't lying so, in an attempt to avoid redundancy, I won't restate those opinions in my post.

Sometimes I wonder about threads like this. I thought they made it blatantly obvious she wasn't lying. All the build up, the crying, the awkward silence in the elevator. I mean, they did everything they could to say, "I love Clark and I'm embarrased about it since I don't think he feels the same about me." without actually saying it.

Of course she told the truth. She was crying before finally admitting it. All acting and the out Tom gave her was clearly articulated to the audience.

Hence why it's one of my favorites of the season.... It was just perfect cause it came right after Instinct and Lois being jealous of Maxima... :-)

There is no question Lois was telling the truth. If she had slipped the sensor off her finger there would have been no reason for the delay or being brought to tears confessing her love for Clark.

Yes look how she act in front and not in frond of him.. she was jealous when maxinma was locking lips with clark.. and maxima knew, it was all over lois's face man you can tell she was telling the truth... why else she would cry when she said she loves clark.. she doesnt know how clark feels if she says it.. she had no choice.. it would kill clark///

Yes she was telling the truth. It was obvious. If she actually did slip the sensor off her finger, why would she have started crying when she answered the question and taking so long to answer it? If she did take off the sensor, she would have answered quickly and convincingly. It would thrown Clark for a loop, but she would've explained later.

She's SOOOO full of crap and TOTALLY had that thing on her finger. And Clark actually believing her is such a joke. He can't really be THAT stupid.
But the look on his face. Oh man, that was priceless. :)

If she hadn`t the sensor on, there was no need for her to tell Clark she loved him under all that pressure, she could`ve very well said "no". But, she said yes, which means she had the sensor on and could not lie. To love and to hide it is not an easy job!

I think she was as surprised as Clark when she answered. I'm sure she must have noticed a growing attraction to him over time and maybe even acknowledged them to herself but I doubt she realized she was in love with him until that scene. As far as the sensor, it was definitely on her finger.

Yeah, obviously lying "I slipped the sensor off my finger"
Clark was the one who freed her, he took it off.

you know what I don't get is when at the end she says "Let's just be happy that I was under the gun and not you. Smallville everyone knows your a terrible liar...who knows where we'd be if you would of answered that question." Can someone explain that to me?

^^My opinion, gossier101, ok, the question was, do you love him (psycho guy to Lois). I think that if PG had asked that question to Clark, he, being the big dumb alien that he is, would've said no, and then Lois would've gotten shocked. In all honesty, they BOTH love each other, in my plain and simple opinion. That's all. Hope this helps.

I was she was telling the truth.
Finally some nice Clois moment.
Lois had tears in her eyes and when she said 'yes', you could really see that she was a girl in love underneath all that bossy mask of hers. Clark's reaction was hilarious though, he twitched but hey! no electricity :P

yeah it was a lie detector test & I know she told Clark that she slipped it off but it's because she was embarrased, i wish Clark would have answered that would have been cool to hear what he had to say even though we know he does care for her I don't know if he loves her yet but he does care for her :)
hmmmm I wonder who said no???? lol

I think if she slipped it off she would have said no. So no explanation would be needed.

I don't know. I think she knew she had a thing for Clark back in season 6. That's the only reason I could think of why she would say "I hate that you know me like that" after Clark said she's a pitbull on a pantleg. Things like this are hard to pinpoint. I tried doing the same thing about when exactly (which episode) Lex became evil & it's very hard if not impossible to tell.

I don't think Clark was stupid. Other than that 1 jealous reaction with Maxima, he didn't have any other reason to believe Lois ever had a thing for him. Although, if I was him, I would have asked Lois why she said yes if the sensor was slipped off.

Someone (I think in the Bride thread) pointed out that she knew she was as of the end of Instinct.

I'd say she said that because she noticed that Clark bought her lie about slipping off the sensor and this was a way to further cover up the truth.
I really wonder what Clark's answer would have been. It's obvious he cared for her in Committed, but I think he was very confused if he loved her at that point. I'd say he never considered Lois until the getting the jealous reaction & hearing the lie detector confession. At that time, he just seemed happy to be working at the Daily Planet & helping people after what Lana did to him. If that lie detector thing happened after Infamous, there's no question the truthful answer would be yes.
