View Full Version : Have you ever flown in a dream?

call me weird, but maybe my results of flying in my dreams are because of my love for superman. but anyways, i've had this reoccuring dream where i can fly from the top of this hill in my front yard...soaring through the stars, looking over my little pennsylvania town (it actually reminds me of smallville...a lot of farms, and a main street that kind of looks like theirs). anyways, have any of you ever experienced something like this?

I did once. It was a Smallville dream where I was flying over Smallville, but besides that, nope. You should be happy, those dreams are cool! lol :p

Hmms being part of the mile high club without the use of a plane?

Interesting concept.

Shirkeh has a dirteh mind :D

Back to topic....dreams about flying, yes, sometimes.
I also dream of being able to float/hover around ...it feels so natural just to glide along from building to building. Its ever so realistic, but its never like I'm a superhero or anything, its just like..I go out gliding with my mates...bizarre.

I fly all the time when I dream - and I end up falling out of bed most of the time as well
I once even dreamed I was flying above Smallville!

I've dreamt about flying before but it wasn't controlled. It was like being light as a feather and being carried by the wind. I remember trying really hard to land but I kept going higher and higher...

Dukegirl

Yep. On one side there was Hawkeye, wounded and bleeding, and on the other side of the helicopter lay JS.
They both made it, so it was a happy end after all :D

I don't have a dirty mind-- Freud's the one who originally claimed dreams of flying represented sex. Of course, Freud thought everything was about sex...

That said, whenever I can fly in dreams, I have to run along the ground for a while and then lift off like a plane. :) Then, I can just like float and stuff, and even though I'm the only one who can fly, nobody seems to think it's weird or interesting. :)

I used to have dreams of flying over my parent's yard when I was younger. The weird thing about these dreams though was the position I was in as I was flying. I was in a vertical position, like I was standing, instead of in a horizontal position like Superman is in when he flies. It felt the way you feel when you're roller skating or roller blading except I was off of the ground.

I'd like to have a Superman-style flying dream. That would be so cool.

I have a recurring nightmare where I fly down the stairs whilst trying to run from someone, then when I hit the bottom i'm trapped. I then try to scream and no sound comes out. :\

I would really like to have nice flying dreams. :(

i have flown in a dream but it happened only twice..
i know there is a kind of a dream where u control what happens in it completly!!
its really amazing, u can do whatever u want, almost god!

the problem is to get that kind of a dream, u need a lot of practice 4 it..
u need to start write down your dreams after u wake up...
and then u need to find something that happens 2 u a lot in your dreams and think about that thing a lot during the day and before u go to sleep make sure it's the last thing on your mind... after a lot of practice this thing will happen again in a dream, and when it will u'll remember it and u'll understand THAT YOU ARE IN A DREAM, now in the first time most of the people gets excited and wake up, so after a few times it happens u need to remain come and u will be half asleep half awake and u will be able to control everything, and ofcourse be Superman!!! if thats what u want, so good luck to everyone who wants to try it...

I have many dreams where I know that I am dreaming inside my dream. I also usually have control over my dreams by having either Superman like abilities or telekenisis. I love my dreams. I never have a dream that I didn't like. While I would prefer to have a few more dreams involving beautiful women, I like my dreams overall.

I've dreamt about flying a few times. When I was younger, I had this obsession with The Neverending Story, and I remember dreaming of flying with Falkor, the luck dragon, on several occasions.

Also, I've always had a strange love for Peter Pan lore, and I own like every Peter Pan movie in existence (Hook rocks!), and when I was little I used to dream about flying to Neverland and fighting pirates and what not.

I have flown in lots of dreams. I just jump into the air and I'm flying. I always seem to fly over places I've never seen in my life. I can also sometimes control my dreams, not what happens, but what I say.

I once dreamt I left my body and I was watching myself sleeping..... that freaked me out completely.

Does anyone ever dream they are being muffled when they try to speak??? I get that a lot, as if someone is smothering me and I can't open my mouth..... it's really scary.

It was called "The Boy who could fly"

It is relatively easy to control your dreams. I read a book on it once, a while back in school.

You're supposed to fixate on an image ( a common image, like the moon, sun, relatives etc...something that usually appears in your dreams) and you're supposed to keep thinking of this image constantly until you fall asleep. When you dream if the image shows up in any of them it can usually snap you out of it, and u realise you are dreaming. However once you've done this, you only have a few minutes before you wake up or fall deeper into your sleep. (but in a dream a few minutes can be ages)

When I was younger I used to do it quite often. There were recurring dreams that were like "episodes" so to speak. You never actually gain control of your dream tho, (so u can't like suddenly fly if in that dream theres been no flying before). Its hard to explain but try it....I gave up when I started having less and less lucid dreams. I hardly sleep regularly anymore so I hardly have proper dreams....i miss those times

I've flown many times in my dreams. Sometimes I even have lucid dreams (where I know that I'm dreaming) and I'm flying. That's the most fun, because I can fly wherever I want. I've also had dreams where the flight was a bit more like swimming in the air. Not sure what that means. Anyway, I wish I could fly for real. :)

Yeah, I remember that film. The boy who could fly. He flew down the street at the end, with the girl from next door, then flew away into the sky, never to be seen again. I thought it was a good film when I was a kid!

Smallvillenews:
"I once dreamt I left my body and I was watching myself sleeping..... that freaked me out completely."

That could very well be astral projection - if it is real and you're not just dreaming, though it would be hard to tell. You may NOT have been just dreaming: in that case you accidentally astral projected which is very cool. I'ver never tried it, but some people if they practice enough can actually do it. Other people do it by accident, though they get scared from that one time and their mind blocks them from doing it again - so they've kinda unwittingly sabotaged themselves from doing it again.

Hi AngylWylde,

This happened to me another time. I woke up, got out of bed and started to get dressed and it was still darkish, I thought it was just a dark morning (you know cloudy outside maybe) and carried on getting ready for the morning as I usually would. I could hear this noise and wondered what it was. I went to the bathroom and could still hear this noise......... THEN I woke up. The noise I heard was the alarm clock going off. I could have sworn under oath that I had already woken up! I don't think it is cool at all, I find it very frightening. As you suggest I may be Astrally Projecting myself, do you know why it is happening or how I can stop it happening?

I think Etheric Projection would be the precise sort of projection that you were experiencing in the first case you mentioned. Although, with this type -- a person is almost always doing it consciously. Though, this second mention could have been a case of lucid dreaming. Like you heard the alarm clock through your dream. Did you see your body at all this time (as in sleeping)?

Well as far as astral/etheric projection: Most people that can do this either a) do it accidentally and are frightened and usually don't do it again or b) train or practice many times to do this.
So since you do not *want* to do it - that is strange that you could still do it unconsciously.

To do this automatically is great as far as in not common: being able to do certain things/have abilities that other people don't or don't until they *train* and *practice* is a good thing, I think, and from my personal experience I believe this. I do not know the exact reason. There are some people out there who are just more 'advanced' in what they can do. When was the last time you had an experience and have you ever had any other kind of out-of-the ordinary experience or ability? Just curious

I would like to tell you not to be afraid, but if you are afraid then that means you are not ready for it. The only thing I have ever heard - the reason for having uncontrollable OBE (out of body experiences) -- is there is some sort of mental shift/imbalance in the psyche. And this can be a good or a bad thing. The only other as far as *I* know for people experiencing an OBE uncontrollably is associated with accidents or anesthesia -which I know wasn't your case.

I seem to dream a lot. which is weird seeing how i get so little sleep. However, I do dream of flying it is one of my favorite dreams. I'm not sure if it a result of the meditation I go though right before I go to sleep, where I envision my self flying to "my space" or if it is just that I have always wanted to fly. Either way I do. and I like

I've always had dreams where I can fly. It's such an awesome sensation, but for me it's also scary.
You see, I'm afraid of heights. My take-offs are always shakey, but once I'm up there, I relax & go with the flow.
I try not to think about falling, because I've dropped out of the sky before while flying in dreams. :\

2 that I recall! 1. All that it was, was that I was skateboarding on top of this building that had a ramp at the far side so I built up loads of speed and took off, but the board disappeared so I was flying for a while until I crashed and woke up.
2. I dreamt that I was flying over the oceans looking for great white sharks and whales. I never found one though :( But I saw a seal!

Yes I have dreams that I'm flying all the time!! Although I can never fly really well. In some dreams I can fly by using the wind and more like gliding and in others I can fly, but like I said i'm real slow at it and i really have to concentrate and I'm just not good at it.

I had the most realistic flying dream last night, that I've ever had in my life.
It started out in my driveway, (it was late.... about 1:30 am). I put on a black t-shirt & black jeans, & my black tennis shoes, so I'd go virtually unseen, but I felt like wearing my big blingin' Superman necklace.
Since I'm scared of heights, I kept it just above the cars. I was scared to go higher because of the power lines. I flew down my street (not fast.... about a medium speed), and down a few more, past an apartment building (this crackhead dude was sitting on the steps talking on the phone, and he freaked out).

I flew through the intersection, and I think a few cars might have seen me (one of them slammed on their brakes). About a block down, there were some cars parked, & people hanging out in the church lot, listening to music, talking, playing frisbee by the parking lot lights. I purposely flew right towards them & over their heads. It was so funny to see them duck and start going nuts. A few of them got in their cars & burned rubber getting out of there. They scattered like chickens.

One of my friends lives 2 houses over from the church lot, so I landed & walked over there, but his lights were off, so I walked around the other side of the church (where it was dark) and I flew back home a different way, where nobody would see me. Just a few barking dogs. I could actually feel the wind on my face. It was so fantastic! I came home & got on the computer to see if anybody left me any messages on MySpace. Sadly, there were none. :\

Like I said, it was the most realistic thing I've ever experienced.
I really hope to do it again, & go somewhere else.

I love flying in my dreams...I do it all the time. I have been trying to expand my range of powers into my dreams by attempting teleporting, and energy bolts from my hands.....still a work in progress....but I have managed to...now im not too sure how many people are familiar with Dragon Ball Z, but I do on occasion do that cool standing still hurricane like effect around me.

09-30-2008, 07:22 AM
Lucid dreaming is fun. I havn't had many lucid dreams lately though, but my latest ability that I have in my "collection" is that friggin awesome teleporting power. I aim at a spot, I close my dreaming eyes -- concentrating, and I would reopen them to be a lot closer to where I was looking at. Pretty interesting.

I've had many flying experiences in my dreams but only 2 of them I remember vividly. It's awesome because I could "speed up" and everything would become a radial blur, but then I would wake up because I [i]knew[i] that I didn't know where I would end up.

Once, I launched a f0cking kamehameha wave. Yeah, I did.

Randy,

That's just about the coolest dream I've heard anyone describe. I've had some strange ones--black and white, different time periods, etc, but none quite like that.

I've only had a couple of dreams where I'm flying. One all I remember is looking down from the sky and seeing a forest of fur trees. It was dusk out I think and, quiet.

My flying dreams suck. I remember in one I took off the ground - and was actually floating - but I couldn't get up to a very high speed. Or even a moderate speed. I kind of looped a few feet - maybe yards - off the ground before finally tumbling to the ground. Imagine Superman discovering he's using up the very last of his flying powers and ending up not moving more than ten feet away from where he started. Yeah. It was like that.

When I was a really young girl, I'd have those horrid dreams, more like nightmares actually, where I felt like I was falling from a great height, and 9 times out of ten (thank God) I ended up floating back up to safety - I now realise such a feeling is apparantly a part of the sleep spindle, but as a young child, it scares you so much.

What an interesting thread!
I have had many dreams where i was flying or floating, but i don't remember any as vividly or as this one. I was about 10 years old when I dreamed it. There was a carnival in the streets of my neighborhood and there was a very peculiar ride I went on.

They were huge mean-looking ostriches! You climbed on their back and they went flying up in the air in a circle for about 20 minutes, then they were pulled back down by the ropes they were tethered to.

Weird!
