View Full Version : Chloe changed from Committed to Prey?

For 2 episodes in a row, they tried to beat the fact that Chloe is blissfully in love with Jimmy and no longer has feelings for Clark into our heads. They even had the crazy ring guy test if Chloe was in love with Jimmy.
But the very next episode they went back to Chloe having second thoughts. Feeling more at ease with Davis than Jimmy, feeling what she once felt for Clark for Davis. Even though I really couldn't feel the attraction being presented through acting, but that's where the plot directing is going.
Now I know people said Chloe might have used Brainacs' abilities to beat the lie detector, also what Chloe is feeling might be Brainiac feeling at ease with Dooms Day or whatever. But why waste 2 episodes just to do this?

there's no evidence at all that Brainiac beat the lie detector...there would have been some hint of it given by the producers if that were the case. i don't think anything has changed. there was hint of an attraction to Davis before Committed, and we saw more of it in Prey. i don't think 2 episodes were wasted, it was just part of both those plotlines, not the entire focus.

.. chloe needs a storyline ,
and this is interesting . = )
- && , she clearly loves Jimmy ,
and she did state that she doesn't feel guilty about anything , yet .
.. plus , we know that Jimmy and Chloe get married .

TBTB fail at almost every arc development, it's nothing new. The only success is probably Lex Luthor's.

It's not so much that she used it but that Brainiac asserted control and beat the lie detector. He needs Chlark apart and having the Chlimmy does that because it doesn't allow for Chloe and Clark to alway be around each other.
AM definitely said in one of her interviews she feels a pull towards Davis because they both have something kryptonition inside them.
Plus these are the SV writers, if they need people to feel a certain way in one episode and do a 180 in the next all for the purpose of the plot, they'll do it.
Though I do find it interesting that the triangle clearly set up in Prey was Davis/Chloe/Clark. Jimmy could have been put in there after Davis asked her if she felt this easy with anyone else and she agree that it was Jimmy. Istead they connected her feelings for Davis to those of Clark.

Well no. i think the feelings are scaring her. but i think it has something to do with brainiac.

Chloe's in love not in a casket. There are many people who look but don't touch. Makes me think of the episode Crimson where Clark was talking to Martha about wanting to kiss Lois, keep Chloe on the side, while still in love with Lana. Without red K we know Clark would not act on those feelings just as Chloe will not act on the strong pull she is feeling toward Davis. SOMEONE on SV has to be loyal.

Hmm... I'll watch the last scene again to see Chloe's reaction.
I'd rather believe that Chloe loves who she loves, and is drawn to who she's drawn to without any Brainiac interference. Jimmy says that Chloe has spoken to him about Davis in offscreenville. It seemed to me that Chloe was connecting the beginnings of her friendship with Davis to the beginnings of her friendship with Clark. For now it seems that she doesn't want to risk her relationship with Jimmy by letting her relationship with Davis grow into something more.
But maybe... it is Brainiac. LOL!

Because Brainiac taking over Chloe is the big arc of the season. Chloe's answer to the lie detector made no sense. That was a clue that something is off. Chloe helping Davis and stonewalling Clark is not like her either. That is a clue that something is off. Meanwhile they are beating us over the head with memories of the Chlark partnership.
I guess that's the conflict you get when you don't bother to secure your main villian for the next season, and your back up can only appear occasionally. You have to do double duty with your heroine and the villain.

I disagree it was a clear Chloe/Clark?Davis triangle that was set up. From Committed, we clearly learn Clark is a true friend in Chloe's eyes. What we learn in Prey is that Davis has the potential to be a true friend and a true lover, thus trumping Jimmy's relationship with her.
She did not change, it is just revealed that Davis meet's both Clark's and Jimmy's emotional stance and perhaps because of that, trumps them both.
Also, I disagree that braniac is influencing chloe in any way whatsoever beyond her intelligence. I believe the first attempt braniac will make over influencing her will be in abyss when he strips her memories. Chloe's growth this season is unprecedented and positive. It should not be undermined by an influence of Braniac, and would in fact debase the character of Chloe because of that. IE, Braniac is suddenly a better/stronger person than Chloe could ever be, so there must be something wrong is inherently flawed.

Im starting to believe that Chloe did what Lois said she did on the lie detector, slipping it off her finger before she answered. Meanwhile Lois didnt slip it off.
In other words Chloe and Lois are both in love with Clark.
Also saw kind of a nod to Superman II where Lois was talking about having to share time with Clark because he was always saving people. Chloe said something like that at night when they were at the DP.

I agree.
Davis and Chloe are attracted to one another. This was presented way back when Chloe was changing a light bulb. Attraction doesn't have to lead anywhere- as Chloe proactively made the choice to stay away from Davis for awhile. That's a very mature reaction and a mark of a loyal partner. Personally, I'd like to see more of that on Jimmy's side of the table (Mr. Surfing with Kara and oggling Lois), but it is what it is.
There's no evidence that Brainiac is controlling Chloe. We see Chloe using her own initiative to do things in character- such as researching ways to help her friend Oliver. Brainiac just gave her a boost in the mental department, he's not controlling her. Has anyone seen her trying to shove Kryptonite onto Clark's chest? No, because nothing is controlling her.
