A meteor freak with a serial killer shadow? I thought the show was good overall but I thought the killer meteor freak was lame and just a distraction to the viewers. What purpose did it serve? Trying to confuse the audience? The writers know the audience is aching to see Doomsday and learn more about Davis. Why tease us with this nonsense?

Other than that flaw, I thought Clark monitoring the police radios was neat - but rushed. He really does seem to be embracing his destiny fast! Daily planet on one show and now he is already playing the hero part? As much as I like this, it seems me that since they are moving at a fast pace, that they are indeed planning on this being the last season. He is 99.9% superman minus the suit and flying. I can't imagine them wasting 1 more season developing the costume and a flying power. Season 8 will wrap up Clark's destiny - Lois romance, costume, hero role, flying, Justice League formation, FOS creation. Curious about everyone's thoughts on this.

It was to take the attention of the other characters away from Doomsday. It's already confirmed that Davis/Doomsday was the killer throughout the episode. The copycat shadow guy was just to distract other characters from the possibility of it being Davis.

exactly and shadow freak is far from the worst powered meteor freak this shows had I mean the guy who turned people into wax was lame and the wodertwin freaks that had to work together to have any powers also stunk If they are gonna have fotw on this show be glad we got a shadow freak and not some other lame power.

I thought the shadow killer was pretty bad ass. He added to the story and was actually a somewhat scary figure. He looked menacing as the shadow!

hmm, never thought about that. I believe Shade's power is blacking out what is around him. I don't remember him making shadows.

Now if you are referring to the Justice League cartoons, you could also make the point he could be shadow-thief as well.

Davis' arc needs to last the entire season. He's not a freak of the week. He is part of the main cast. The FOTW, like it has been stated, was to throw Clark, MM, Jimmy, and Chloe off Davis' trail.

Also, I liked how this FOTW was similar to a DC villian, just like they did with Plastique, because they both have been recruited by Tess for her Suicide Squad or Injustice League or whatever they will name her band of villians.

Exactly...it's too soon in the season to completely call Davis out, but they wanted to show you (especially in the last scene) that Davis isn't all that innocent either. By brining in the shadow guy at the exact time Davis starts killing people....it builds on Doomsday without giving away too much too soon.

Agree.

It diverted our attention as well . I think the shadow creature was great! At first when I saw it attacking Davis, I wondered if maybe that is Doomsday's entity trying to use and transform Davis into Doomsday's corporal self. :eek: --never know what this show might come up with.

I don't agree. I think that like Jones said, he needs to come to a more balanced and responsible veiw of his place in the world, and I think there will be a lot of other things as usual that will deter/interfere with his figuring out just how to do that. I could see it continuing into another season.
(i mean, hell yeah! another season of Tom :p) :D

I think the shadow person was an excellent way to make us think that it was Davis and then we think it is not Davis and it turns out to be him after all. That was an excellent plot twist, and I like the episode more because of it. I also like the fact that the freak of the week. Actually has a purpose, meaning joining the league of doom or whatever it is. If they do not do a battle between the Justice league and the league of doom I will be extremely disappointed in the season. Another thing I like the ability is there coming up with for the fotw . I mean, when I first was watching this episode. I thought the shadow guy was a phantom that Clark had not known existed. Remember, just my opinions.
PS3 has not only brought new life to the show, but also have put a new spin on the old idea. Good work guys season eight rocks, and the best part is the plot and the storylines and the characters actually make sense.

I agree with pretty much all the responders in this thread.

Shadow Guy had a pretty cool power, and it was neat that he joined Tess's Injustice League.

And the point of him being in the episode is to throw all of the suspicion off of Doomsday for the main characters. We, as the audience, know that Doomsday is out and killing people, but the main characters can't know yet, not this early in the season.

I liked the shadow kid. He did a good job acting and the actual shadow with those glowing eyes was very cool. I agree he was there to get the blame off Davis but it was still a nice addition to the episode and there will be a future purpose for him so this is his introduction into Smallville, imo. The best part was Clark throwing the tire at him. Physical contact isn't always the best method of fighting people who aren't a solid mass as Clark learned the hard way with the guy who turned into sand.

LOLL , he was wicked . ( H )
.. but yeah , he was there so Davis wouldn't get caught .
cause what would be the point ?
he gets caught right after he becomes Doomsday ?
highly unlikely .
we knew we were going to get something like this ,
to throw suspision off Davis .
&& the meteor thing ,
added more storyline and tension to ; Clark and Chloe .
&& plus , the actor was cool . = )

Me too!

I thought that was a really cool meteor ability. He will be a welcome member to the injustice league!

The kid was the red herring to keep the heat off Davis, but I am weary of another batch of FOTWs. Now there's a herd of them!

The only thing I liked about the freak storyline was that the Luthor lackey who interrogated him was yummy.
