In my opinion, these new producers have strangely seemed to alternate great and terrible for every episode so far (Odyssey terrible, Plastique great, Toxic terrible, Instinct great, Committed terrible, and Prey great)… But the real point is: greatness is here in Season 8. It’s not simply “an awful show that once was good.” Some fans wondered if the show should even go on without Lex and Lana, without Al & Miles, but I'd say the new producers are erasing all doubts.

I really like that Clark is working in the Daily Planet and wearing business suits. Clark is now in a new chapter of his life, moving forward. He’s not just pointlessly staying on the farm doing nothing, as Al & Miles had him doing the last few years.

Furthermore, Jimmy Olsen is becoming a much more interesting character than ever…. Lois is getting less annoying and more interesting… To my surprise, Davis seems like a cool character despite being nothing like Doomsday of the comics… Although, I’m not really enjoying this Chloe as Brainiac story, even though I think Allison Mack is very talented and beautiful… Tess has become an awesome character.…. Oliver is okay, although it’d better if he was still wearing the costume…… But overall, I think it’s a good job from the new producers and a real step up from what Al & Miles had been doing the last 3 years or so.

IMO, I am loving the new producers. They are on the track that we Smallville fans have been wishing for! They now exactly what the fans want and every episode (with the exception of Instinct) is amazing. I can guarantee that they will make Smallville what Al & Miles could not.

I lost faith in them after Odyssey, Toxic, and Instinct, but the last two episodes made me love them the way that I loved them in Plastique.

I'm going to move to Prey episode area since it's talking about things up until that episode, and I can see that episodes and scenes will probably get discussed.

The only bummer, reminiscent of prior seasons kind of eppy was toxic. The story just wasn't good.

Oops. I meant Toxic, I mistyped prey and just came back to re-read it.

Prey was an awesome, necessary, direct setup.

I think they're doing a very good job. I like how they're bringing in more elements from the dcu. I'll save the few complaints I have for a later date, as I would hate to gripe too soon, just to have my concerns put to rest in upcoming episodes.

I like them about the same as before. But considering no Lex, Lana, or Lionel (my old favs), I 'd say they're pretty fantastic.

I had trust in PS3 before season 8 began. I've never doubted them and I have ALWAYS believed they would make great producers. I made this public many times before Odyssey even aired. And now I feel I was 100% right about them.

By the way, IMO, Committed was one of the best episodes of the series. Instinct, one of the worse. Every other episode was either decent or very good.

Unfocused, I totally agree. For me, this season is going great. I an grateful to the producers and to Al/Miles for leaving. I loved Committed too. Haven't seen an epi yet this season that I don't like. Even holds up on repeat viewings for me.

I wasn't crazy about everything in Prey, and I thought Toxic was pretty much a wasted episode. But I think these producers are such an improvement over what we had prior, and I think they're doing a wonderful job with Clark. I get the impression that this show is about Clark again, and that the producers care about Clark, and his story, and want to do it justice. I didn't feel that about AlMiles for a very long time. I don't expect every episode to be amazing, and the show still suffers from some of the same longstanding problems, but I'm really liking what we're seeing this season, and I'm so grateful that TPTB have let Clark, and his world, progress forward and mature and evolve.

The characters we lost were necessary steps to moving forward. Don't get me wrong. I love Lana, LEx lionel, martha, Jonathon...ect..but these people were apart of Clark's past(with the exception of lex maybe) and in order to move it along they needed these poeple to go.
All things considered, this season is everything I've wanted it to be so far. Yay! Producers are great!

The new producers are knocking it out the park this season. I was a little worried before season 8 began, but all my worries were washed away by the end of the season premiere. I like how Clark`s FINALLY accepting his destiny. The producers are really pushing for Clark to be the hero he's going to be, great stuff!

All six episodes so far have ranged from very good to excellent. None have been jaw dropping though.

Ranking System (Bad to Good) :

Horrid
Bad
Not very good
Okay
Good
Very Good
Excellent
Jaw Dropping

Personally there are only two episodes in the whole series for me that drop below okay for me. Not by much though.

So far this season, we had four great episodes and two were mediocre.

4/6 ain't bad. With AlMiles it was more like 4/60.

I think they have been doing a great job and have been paying attention to what the fans want in Smallville. I'm looking forward to what they have planned in the future.

Not only are they paying more attention to what fans want, they are paying attention to details. Period. Despite some calls of foul play, jumping up and down protesting and screaming, there is no doubt that they have looked back to past episodes from years gone by and are also not forgetting things that have just happened this season. Martian Manhunter's list to Clark of recent events that he has obviously been lurking around in the shadows for was wonderful.

I love season 8 and I love PS3. My faith last year was shaken but this year it is back on solid ground.

I'm loving the producers this season, too. I read many of the concerns people had about all of the changes the show was experiencing and admittedly I didn't know what to expect, but I kept my faith in the show. I am so happy that my confidence hasn't been shattered. I keep re-watching these season 8 episodes, and I can't help but think this is the best season yet!

I think the new producers are finally making the show what I knew it could be.

I'm a Superman fan first and this is much closer to Superman. Not that Superboy didn't have his place, but Clark is a man now, not a farm boy.

As a whole, I have enjoyed S8 more than the last few seasons. I really like the direction they are taking. Tess and Davis make for great new characters, the Lois/Clark type feel that the show has is great, and Clark being more proactive/thinking about another indentity is awesome. This is also the first season that I have totally enjoyed Clois. With the acception of the first four eps in S4, Clois has sucked in my opinion. So this season has a lot of nice concepts and the direction is good.

I can pull things from each episode that I have enjoyed. But when you examine each episode individually, most of them have been pretty mediocre.

Odyssey - The weakest premiere to date. It was rushed and too many plot holes 6/10
Plastique - Quite good. Much better than I was expecting. Great Clois and FOTW story. 9/10
Toxic - My least favorite episode this season. I could care less about GA origins 5/10
Instinct - A decent episode. But Maxima was underused and it seemed like more of a plot device for Chimmy. 7/10
Committed - A few great moments, but overall it focused way to much on Chimmy. 6/10
Prey - Awesome episode. Great suspense and mystery. Nice mythos and an appearance from MM. 9.5/10

So as I said, I think this season has a lot of potential, and great direction. They just need to do a better job of bringing it all together and cut back on Chloe and Jimmy because basically everyone hates that ship. It is funny because I never thought I could hate a couple more than Clana, but Chimmy is even worse.

I think all the episodes so far have been entertaining. While Instinct was my least favorite, I did enjoy it. I'd give it a "B" and all the other episodes rate at least "B+".

Odyssey "A"
Plastique "B+"
Toxic "A"
Instinct "B"
Committed "A+"
Prey "A+"

I don't see why some people have felt some of the episodes were awful so far. I do notice that people seem divided on the ones they think are awful.

Personally, I feel PS3 have got the goods so far!

If you look at my original post, I did say that I like the direction of the season and it has many good things working for it. There has been something I liked about every episode. However, I think they need to get it all moving together. Even though there are a lot of good things this season, it feels kind of disjointed.

Odyssey left too many plot holes and tried to close up what happened at the end of S7 too quickly. I was also dissapointed by the fact that we didn't get to see Bart. I know that KG was shooting a movie at the time, but Bart is my favorite guest hero. Toxic was terrible for me, because I could care less about Oliver or his GA origins. I didn't really mind Oliver that much before when he would have limited appearances. However, now that he is more of a regular, they feel the need to develop him more. This wastes time. Committed and Instinct were done to develop Chloe and Jimmy. I freaking hate Chimmy with a passion. Lamest couple ever. Instinct was a decent episode because of Maxima, and the insights it gave into Clark and Lois. However, the main focus was still on Chloe and Jimmy and the same could be said for Committed.

Plastique and Prey felt like the two episodes where all of the good things that the season has brought to the table seperately were working together.

I think the show has improved 10 fold with them in charge. I only wish they would've staged a coup and ousted Al & Miles earlier.

I really like them. I haven' disliked an episode so far. "Toxic" was probably the worst episode of the season so far, but it wasn't bad at all, IMO. I just think that there was more they could have done with it.

Lewis,

I think the reason people think they are awful has a lot to do with the shippers. Most people either gonna love them or hate them, because like it or not, it seems like the new producers are making hard and fast decisions on those relationships in order to move us forward in Superman's life. It is going to be painful for some to watch, but it would be nice if everyone could agree these hints at certain possibilities of romantic futures have to end in order for us to get to the core of the superman mythos.
