Season 8 and episode streaks

What do you guys think of season 8 so far in comparison to the last 7 seasons?
And what is the best first 5 episodes?

So far I personally think season 8 is doing pretty well.
I am much more pleased with it than season 7.
But i think my favorite first 5 episodes is probley from season 3 or 6.

Usually the best smallville does is have 3 very soild or great episodes back to back before they hit a either decent at best or bad one.

S1: started off with two strong episodes, Then had the horrible Hothead, then a fantastic X-ray and then Cool, which stunk. Thus 3 for 5 in the first five episodes.

S2: had Votex, a okay but overrated opener, Heat, Duplicity, Red and then Nocturne

again I say 3 for 5 with Duplicity and Votex being the weaker ones

S3: Exile, Phoenix, Extinction, Slumber and Perry and honestly Perry the only weak one of of those four, though its still not that bad.

S4: Really one had Gone and Run as its strong first five

S5: Arrival=brilliant, Mortal=amazing, Hidden-strong, Aqua=utter crap, Thirst=really fun holiday episode so again four out of 5 ain't bad.

S6: Zod=awesome, and then Whither is really the only one with some redeemable stuff in the next four, S6 is definatelly really weak until Justice/Labyrinth really kick the season off.

S&: This season has to be the best at having consisantly strong episodes at the beginning the only season in smallville to have 7 of the first 8 episodes be really, really good with Laura being the only really bad one and stuck between Action and Wrath(two of S7's best.

Well what I think is:

S1: The first two episodes were great, and I thought Hothead was okay but not that good, and X-Ray was an amazing episodes, and I enjoyed Cool although it wasn't as good as X-Ray, but overall 3 out of 5 episodes were great.

S2: The first two episodes again were great, and Duplicity was a horrible episode, and Red and Nocturne were amazing as well, but overall 4 out of 5 episode were great.

S3: The season premiere two parter was awesome, and Extinction was an okay episode with some flaws, Slumber and Perry were great episodes, and overall 4 out of 5 episodes were great.

S4: The season premiere two parter again was awesome, and Facade was a horrible episode, and Devoted was a funny episode but not great, and Run was awesome, overall 3 out of 5 episode were great.

S5: The first three episodes were awesome, but the fourth and fifth destroyed the happiness, overall 3 out of 5 episodes were solid.

S6: The season premiere was solid, with the following episode not so much, Wither and Reunion were horrible, with only 2 out of 5 episodes being great.

S7: The season premiere, one of my favorite episodes, and Kara was an okay episode, with Fierce... it wasn't pretty, but Cure and Action made it up for me, overall 3 out of 5 episodes were great.

S8: The first two episodes were solid, Toxic was an okay episode, with Instinct and Committed being awesome, it is a great beginning with the series being 4 out of 5.

But thats not it, with the possible Season Nine... we'll have to wait and see if it can top these seasons...
But for sure... Hope for Season Nine!

I voted for S8, because I'm so pleased with where the season is now. I went ahead and ranked the remainder from next-best to worst: 3, 1, 2, 5, 6, 4, 7. Each five-fer had a weak episode:

S1 - Hothead
S2 - Duplicity
S3 - Slumber
S4 - Devoted
S5 - Thirst (though I wouldn't pan it as deeply as some have; it had its fun moments)
S6 - Reunion
S7 - Fierce

I would say season 8 because I'm really enjoying the Clois interaction.. but I would say season 4 was good as well.

This is what i thought
I'll put some more reasoning into my answer.

S1: Pilot was great, Metamorphisis was weird, but still a great second episode and that quote from Lana about change was a classiv. Hothead, X-Ray and Cool were just kinda medicore for me.

S2: Vortex was good, but not the best season opener i didn't think., Heat was funny and introduced the heat vision, which was important. Duplicity was the classic moment of pete knowing clarks secret, Red I loved, and Nocturne was just awesome, i don't know why, but i always like dthat episode.

S3: Exile was one of my all time fav openers! Clark in Metropolis, I love Lex on the island, everything about that episode was puuure gold and i just love that line from Chloe "He's not lost Lana", Pheonix was also great and went right along with Exile. Extinction was great as well, Slumber for me is a classic, i just loved it. Perry was great as well, seeing the classic Perry White was amzing. Pure Smallville gold is what season 3 was for me.

S4: Crusade was a great opener. Introducing Lois Lane, Clark flying. Gone was great, Facade was kinda dumb and a definate filler, Devoted was a little bit of a filler as well, but still alot of fun, Run was great and i think is a classic.

S5: Arrival, Mortal, Hidden were all amazing, especially Hidden. Aqua I thought was a little dumb, Thirst....ugh, I hated it.

S6: Zod was a GREAT premire, Sneeze was funny, Wither....okay, didn't really like the whole freak earth lady, Arrow was terrific, i love the green arrow charactor, Reunion was also a favorite of mine, I really loved it.

S7: Bizarro was a good and solic premire, Kara...not good not terrible, Fierce was stuupid, so lame, Cure was alright, it was cool that Dean Cain was in it and Action...eh, okay.

S8: Odyssey was good and a needed change of pace from season 7, Plastique i didn't really care for though, Toxic was good, not great, but enjoyable, Instinct was TERRIFIC as well as Committed.

As pleased as I have been with the start to S8, I'd still go with S5. I personally think Thirst is not as bad as many feel. Sure it was corny and KK must cringe when she plucks up the courage to watch her own hissing, fang-baring performance, but it's not the worst ever SV epi.

The season 3 fivesome was pretty good as well.

My fave was the Season 3 run. "Exile" and "Phoenix" composed one of the best, most climactic two-parter premieres I've seen on this show. "Extinction" was a different take on the FOTW angle that I really enjoyed -- and Chloe was so cute on that episode to me, for some reason... "Slumber" was the only semi-dud of an episode for me, but "Perry" rocked the house -- why on earth haven't they brought back his character yet?!

I might be in the minority but I hated Exile. Clark putting on the red K ring and running away and becoming a theif was just character assassination


Thirst....ugh, I hated it.

Thrist was enjoyably bad, unlike many episodes that centered around Lana that I just found plain bad. :P

s8 started off really good with odyssey and plastique then it went with 3 straight fillers toxic, instinct and committed .

S5 had the best bar none.

season 2, 3, 4, 5 & 8

I voted for season 3 because it didn't have a clear "bad" episode like the other seasons did.

Season 1 No to hothead & cool
Season 2 No to Nocturne
Season 4 No to Facade
Season 5 No to Aqua
Season 6 as a whole was just blaah
Season 7 the same as previous
Season 8 Toxic and Instinct were boring

season 4 was the best, I vote for it....but Committed is my favorite epi of all the show, season 8 is very good too...
