View Full Version : Lois blind, or laying the foundation to knowing?

Clark is bloodied by the captor.
Lois sees his bloodied face, sitting across from her, but miracles of miracles, after he subdues the fiend, Lois sees him standing before her - facially fully recovered and pink in pigmentation.

Just for good measure, he kneels next to her, for closer inspection.

Ahh, no reporter would keep their job, with her lack of observation skills.

Somehow, this lack of observation leads me to believe that she'll corner him about his true identity, by series end, at least.

You know the drill; adding up all the sudden departures; the convenient and sudden appearances; the bloodied and disheveled look one instant - immaculate recovery and health the next.

I don't think that Lois is blind, but I think that she was in shock, especially after she also had to rip her guarded veneer down to reveal certain protected emotions, feelings so that she could protect Clark from further electrocution. I think that as time passes, she'll revisit their abduction in her mind, and scrutinize everything that happened, then she'll remember certain things about Clark that will make her Question Clark's honesty, or something akin to that. She'll begin to watch him closely, especially after "Identity".

I also wondered what DID Lois see when Clark first used his heat vision to break the heating vents. I understood that she might not be able to see through the fog-like steam that was released, but before that she should've seen what he did. Also, she should've wondered how Clark was able to break free of his chains/contraption only After he'd knocked down the jeweler when he couldn't budge the constraints around his wrists before.

Just because the wound healed doesn't mean the blood will be sucked back into his head and besides she was traumatized a bit so she probably didn't care the next day. Also if someone is rescuing me from a psycho, I wouldn't be inspecting his face to see if he is sweating, whether his fists are bleeding, checking whether he has wounds and me being a guy that would be a bit homoerotic.

^^actually i think we have seen that happen a few times when clark has healed, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. i think it happens in Wither for example, but also in Bizarro he wipes the blood away after he has healed. anyway its more a visual effects issue than anything else but a bit confusing non-the-less.

I honestly think Lois had just been through something very traumatic and was still in shock and embarrased about saying yes to notice anything.

a few things about this scene stood out, when he beat up the captor, he went flying to her left and clark appeared in front of her and she found it very strange

and where as minutes before he was bloodied up and struggling to breathe he's now upright and perfectly fine, bold and strong looking

She says "smallville?" in disbelief because of what she just saw and what she's srring now, she then looks at the man as if, "how did you throw him there, but you're infront of me?"

but the reason she doesnt really question it IMO is because of how traumatized she fels after her confession. It clearly the main thing on her mind.

I agree that the writers are laying off her unobservant self to trauma. It'll probably hit her like an anvil at some point in the season, all these incidents of speed, healing and disappearing and - voila! - she'll start to put two and two together. And come up with five, LOL. I love Lois, though, she's cool.

Lois is just one of many that has been around Clark when he has used his abilities. There could be many questions arise from this. Take for instance, no one has ever questioned where Clark's vehicle is when he super speeds and appears out of no where. If we concerned ourselves about every little detail about Clark's abilities, the magic of Superman would be lost. I, for one, will ignore those trivial questionable acts of heroism and enjoy the show.

Er, you do know that the entire Superman mythos is based on a hero whose disguise is a pair of tights and black-rimmed glasses, right?

No one suspects that Clark Kent is Superman, not even the intrepid reporter.

This is called: Suspension of belief.

Look it up. It happens. This is not something you want to overanalyze when viewing a work of fiction.

There is such a thing as public transport. Maybe he got the train?

Thanks for the tip. I found this one while I was at it, I think it should be useful to you;

I think Lois is aware that Clark has secrets. She doesn't necessarily know what those are (that he's an alien and has superpowers), but she knows he does have something that he's hiding. It was very apparent to me when the jeweler guy said, "All your secrets will be revealed" or something to that effect. Clark had his usual "Oh, sh*t" look, but Lois had an odd look on her face. Like she was sympathizing with Clark's fear or something. I can't really explain it. Like she was afraid for his sake. Lois really has no big, bad secrets, so she has no reason to be that alarmed for herself. And I believe she had no real idea of how she felt about Clark until the jeweler guy pressed her and Clark, himself, encouraged her. Which was much later on in the scene. So, for me, Lois knows that Clark has secrets, probably major secrets, but she trusts him and doesn't let herself become obsessed with finding them out. If he wants to tell her, that's ok, but if not, that's ok, too.

I was wondering how Lois and Clark got back to Smallville from the Jewelry store dungeon in Metropolis.

just like in the movies as things start happening thats how she will slowely notice it this is probably the first real time that she has reason to suspect more from him than simple farm boy and its been teased that he is going to save her again so lets just see what happens

All about Clark

Yeah, Clark needs two identical cars, one in Smallvile and one in Metropolis, so there's always a car wherever he is and needs it. hehe
