Dont get me wrong its been decent, but I cant stand all this sudden lightswitching thats been going on for all the characters. I mean I just dont like it. The sudden Clark and Lois loving each other thing really does come out of no where. I could understand if they just liked each other but love? No. Clark's all the sudden obsession with wanting to help people after the season premiere is still bothering the heck out of me and also his desire to be a reporter when he has never shown interest in that field of work. I just....i dont know This season is just very underwhelming to me right now. Lois loves Clark? when? She has barely gotten over Ollie now she's in love with him? its more like shes infatuated.
I also would like for Clark to do more investigating without one of his damn friends being in danger. Gosh, im getting tired of Smallville. Its better than Season 7 so far but its still underwhelming.

I've missed you!
I don't agree with what you have said but I know that no matter how hard I try to convince you it won't change your mind.
All I can say is enjoy Season 8 as a fresh start and a brand new show. We have a new cast and new producers so it's almost like a new show and take that thought and run with it. It's a new chapter in the life of Smallville, almost like moving to a new city!

I agree with Kevin24, it is like a new show. I think it should be called "Metropolis." Anyway, I do think it is lightswitching for Lois to "love" Clark, but maybe she just falls in love fast. Clark is a good catch. I'm just glad they aren't rushing it on Clark's end. I'd have more of a problem with that considering how much he loved/loves Lana and the fact that her name has been mentioned in every episode. I don't think Clark loves Lois yet. I think a seed was planted in his mind at the end of this episode, like for the first time he'd considered her as a possible love interest, but that's all I think it was. I think him wanting to help people (besides just helping his friends) stems from Lana's suggestion that "the world needs him more." Maybe he just finally decided to listen. Ollie had been telling him the same thing. And Lana wasn't around for him to play house with anymore. He had nothing else to do, but sit around the farm, so I guess he decided to put his gifts to use. As for him choosing "reporting" as the occupation, well, he said that he did that because the Daily Planet would allow him to find out about everything that's going on so that he could help others.

I think alot of people understand you. The problem is no matter what anyone says to try to explain it to you....it won't change how you feel.
Unless you just want people to agree with you?

I disagree actually..i think the season has been great. Lois has known Clark for 4 years, and they've been working close quarters for 6 weeks. for a lot of people it doesn't take 6 days to know if they love somebody, and in this case it wasn't an open admission..it was grudgingly pried out of her from the depths of her feelings. also, there's no mention at all of Clark loving Lois, so that hasn't happened yet. that's just the way I see it anyway.

As I said before, if there is any lightswitching it is because Al/Miles stalled for 2 seasons. They ran out of stories and dragged their feet for two years.
The story is FINALLY back on track. Clark is becoming Superman. The mythos is unfolding before our eyes.

I say more like one year. I loved season 6.
This season has seen but changes, but they've been great.
Lois loving Clark seems a little fast, but we have to understand, we haven't seen her that often. She was only in 13 episodes a season, and there's a lot going on behind the scenes. And she's always had those little moments, like Oliver telling Clark that Lois always talked about him back in season 6. So it's completely conceivable that she has feelings for him, and strong ones. And again, how long does it take to fall in love? They've been working across a desk every day for two months now. That could very well be a lot time.
Clark probably doesn't feel the same way, but this opened his eyes a little. He's still a little hung up on Lana, but he obviously has attraction to Lois (remember Crimson?)
And he's always wanted to help people! That's all he's ever wanted to do with his life (season 5, when Milton Fine asks him what he wants to do with his life. Fine's response? "Helping people is a noble goal, it's also a vague one."). And to be fair, one of the main reasons Clark Kent joined the Planet in the comics was to be in the middle of the action.

to be honest i really dont care too much if anyone agrees with me. it just bothers me the whole story is lightswitched. like the show stopped going at a good pace as of season 5 and either slowed down or lightswitched its characters. its hurting this season to be honest. Lois' attraction or love for Clark comes out of nowhere and i seriously wished they would have left Jimmy olsen in limbo after season 6. i just dont like this season right now. its better than 7 yes. seven was horrible with 3 good episodes out of a whole year, but season 8 really isnt doing anything better. it would be nice if they kept up with the storyline on the crystal instead of dropping it for a week and then bringing it back up later. stick with consistent characterization for once. dont speed up character relationships and development, keep it at a good pace, and dont add arbitrary drama for the sake of drama, build into it. it would be nice if the show stopped those things but they dont, it sticks to the same old stuff and it makes the show at times unwatchable.

It sounds like you really want to enjoy the show as much as you did before but you just can't.
What you aren't feeling is Clark being more heroic working at the Daily Planet and Lois falling in love with Clark?
I can see how you would feel that way because of the way Lois normally acts around Clark with her remarks and put downs. She often treats him like a dork but she has treated him nicely throughout the series too and has commented on how great a guy he is.
I don't remember the episode but she told I believe it was Martha that she would be lucky to end up with someone as honorable as Clark. Actually, I think she has mentioned a few times that she would be lucky to end up with someone like Clark but I can't remember them all.
Clark being heroic is something he has always been. He has been saving the earth the past 3 seasons in a row. He has battled countless Meteor freaks who are set on starting trouble and has stopped them so he doesn't hurt people. The only difference between this Clark and the Clark was the last 7 seasons is that he is not hiding from the world anymore. He doesn't hide himself at the barn because now he is at the big city where everything goes down and he can't just ignore that now can he?
I think I know why you don't like the progression between Clark and Lois though. I think it's because they haven't had many heartfelt moments like the traditional way it is....Like Lana and Clark in season 1 they had alot of romantic moments together. Alot of in depth talking about themselves and what not. Like Lana and Clark at the graveyard talking to Lana's parents. There hasn't been alot of courting for your liking I think.
Lois and Clark has mostly been poking fun at each other to hide the sexual tension between them. They have had their sweet moments but they have been scattered and not as constant as the other relationships.

I think I understand what you are saying. This show is about Clark's journey. Now we are near the end of that journey without the fun of watching it develop. I totally agree with you on this. I wish we'd had better writing during the past 3 to 4 years; more direct writing like we've seen this season; writing that keeps things moving quickly without dropping any plot lines.
I wanted to see Clark Kent develop more in the area of Journalism. He could have studied Journalism during season 5 and Brainiac could have been a professor doing a book about the Luthors as was suggested in another thread. Clark could have written freelance during Season 6 and Season 7 while Lois was writing at the Inquisitor. Chloe should have spoken out about her changing priorities ON SCREEN while the changes were happening. I think the characters are just moved around for plot purposes without the writers justifying it through the character dialog. I honestly don't think that much would have to change plot wise as much as having the characters talk to each other more, in a way that emphasizes character development.
I love the show this season. I dislike the term "lightswitch." I'd rather the show hit the ground running with what we want to see after 8 years than end unfinished. You CANNOT make up for 3 years of lagging development in one year seamlessly and smoothly. I'm glad that they've bravely made the attempt. It's been bumpy but SO much fun.

They aren't in love with eachother, so don't worry about that yet.
Both are still confused I think, and they'll probably be confused for a while.
They touched on Clark and Lois loving each other ages ago, with the Red K lipstick episode.
They touched on Clark joining the DP last season, with Lois giving him the application. He was also involved in investigative journalism with Chloe all throughout highschool.
Clark has always been about helping people.

They've been flirting since "Crusade." LOL!

And I agree with most posters in this thread, season 8 has been great. Check the "PS3 appreciation thread," many fans are loving this season!

Long time, no post; welcome back.
As Amberdawn said, Clark and Lois aren't [quite] in love with each other yet. I wouldn't say infatuated either; that will be what she feels for Superman. They care for each other but are in denial. Would you want them to hate each other from the very beginning? I don't think so. All of that snarkiness at the beginning was just a front, a very long cover story. The feelings are now just starting to leak out.
Clark said last season that he was ready to train; he sidelined that because of the Zoners. And he has ALWAYS wanted to help people and always has done so; that's why he becomes a superhero, to do it on a bigger scale because he can, he just was afraid of being exposed before. That's why he'll come up with the costume. He's seen his friends in the protoJL go out in their outfits, risking their lives.
He also said in the past regarding journalism; he could see himself as a journalist in the future. He's not necessarily a reporter, he's an investigative journalist; he goes out snooping for news, all the while saving people and then gets to write about it and other things, not just report facts like CNN.
And Clark, investigating without one of his friends being in danger? Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but Lois, the ultimate love of his love, is constantly doing that, putting herself in harm's way. And he, far from being bored or tired, will just keep rushing right out to save her, as well as millions more who he doesn't know. Do you really want to see Clark rescuing people we don't know or care about over and over? And what should he investigate? Lois' heartwrenching kitten adoption story?

Actually, it was season six that had the zoners. Clark didn't train in season 7 because Jor-El needed him to watch over Kara.
And Clark, in the comics/movies, didn't actively go out saving random people until after he became Superman (from my understanding) or some time just before. He's done it a few times in Smallville though.

there actually have been stories told of Clark where he saves people around the world before he wears the suit. birthright being one of them. also in the story arc of camelot falls it says he helped people before he was superman. i think we need more of that.

I agree, we could use more of that. But not too much. He isn't Superman yet, I don't want him embodying that iconic hero until he accepts himself as that iconic hero.
Don't get me wrong, I do believe Clark is a hero by any and all standards, the countless heroic acts he has demonstrated for over seven years proves this. And, IMO, it is enough. Too many more random acts of heroism will just make Clark Superman without the name, suit and flight. Right now he is exactly where he should be; in a smart suit, working at the Daily Planet, and saving lives in and around Smallville and Metropolis.

Are you kidding me???You got to remember that it's no longer Al/Miles who produce anymore. The new crew is trying to fix the mess they done.CK 's character was so lame, sad and boring. You want the mopy farm boy forever or what? They were develloping all the other characters except him the last 7 years.Come on,it is story after all. It's a good thing that CK is working at the DP.Last season,Lois gave him a job's application. When he realised that Lex was missing and no longer owner,he accepts the job. That allow him to be right in the center of the action. Not wait until it happens right in front of his door. What show are you watching?Lois & Clark always cared about each other since the beginning. When Lois discovered Clark in middle of street back in season 4,she didn't leave him there, she helped him and despit that he was 100% kryptonian in this episode,he listened & fallowed her anyway. The teasing, nickpicking are just to hide their true feelings.Lois likes to nitpick Clark and he does the same too. But,they always doing with a smile on their faces. There's no drama,no pressure, always fun and peacefull. This is how their story goes.
Clana is nothing but, drama, hearthache and pain. They were hurting each other constantly just by being so persistant, they hurted themselve even more.It could never work. This is called obssession not love.I hope when Lana returns, they will realise that they are better as friends than lovers.Chlark had their chance years ago and they blew it.The only woman who would be a real headache for Lois is Wonder Woman.Blame the right people for the lack of progression of the show not the new producers who are doing an excellent job right nows.

I feel this is a different show cuz non of the cast that made it good are here anymore. Also changing the name of the show at this point would be a huge waste of time also a marketing flop not to mention less people would watch the show cuz they would be even more confused on the name.
