I deeply apologize if this thread is inappropriate in anyway
Second. Since we know TPTB actually go to forums to see reactions I wanted to do this to say:
PS3 I know you are watching YOU ROCK!!!!!! No contest the best episode of the current season and if this only the beginning BRING IT ON!!!!! I mean this is only episode 5? I can't wait to watch the rest
Just one thing I personally didn't like or care about it, what's with the Tess/Oliver?.....anyway that didn't affect the episode.
Bryan Miller, the writer. Welcome I love you man, and this is coming from a 100% straight man...seriously unbelievable first episode dude BRAVO!!!
And once again PS3......*ovation and applauses*
OMG... I was going to create this EXACT same thread. In fact, I was going to title it, "The PS3 Appreciation Thread". LOL
Anyway....
PS3, I think I'm in love with you!!
I might love you more than I love my husband, right now. (Don't tell him.)
This episode rocked... this episode fulfilled my wildest fantasies about how awesome "Smallville" can be. This episode made me fall in love with "Smallville" all over again... even though the love was pretty high in S8, anyway.
Please keep of the great work!!!

Great mind think a like?
I think the big score here was Clark Kent Ladies and Gentelman....he was 100% top notch and that's kudos for Tom Welling.....they gave him a great material.....and the guy knocked out of the park.
Clark Kent is the only reason I watch....and today I believed this man WILL FLY
And of course Erica Durance in her best game.....yes Erica I love you!!!!

I'll chime in....thank you very, very much for the way you are writing Clark, and the way you are allowing TW to play the character. I feel like we Clark fans have really had to suffer through the last 2 seasons where it seemed like he was a forgotten and neglected character. But thank you for letting him shine so brightly.
Other things are good too, but Clark is my main concern, and its so nice to just be able to smile when he's on screen...for reasons other then TW being a total hottie! ;)
Snapped, over at DI, had this to say about the episode. It explains why I appreciated this episode so much and so I'll post it here:
Dude, even the things not pertaining directly to Clois were awesome.
- Clark using his brain for once?
- The characters actually slowly coming to realize something has gone wrong, rather than just know instantly there's a problem?
- Not having a random person discover the "wonders of kryptonite" randomly? ('Cause I was expecting, in true Smallville fashion, that the lie detector would be k-rock powered and thus ZOMGSOOPERAWESOMELAWL)
- No convenient concussions so that Clark can use his powers? No mind wipes? Chlark dead dead dead dead dead?
My lord, the episode's quality is ages ahead of AlMiles' Smallville.
I would just add one thing -- the direction and writing was stellar. You must use this director and writer MORE OFTEN!!!
One thing I noticed was that they didn't have Lois and Chloe using a mixed metaphor in every sentence. This writer (maybe because he's new) had them all talking like mature and articulate adults. Even Chloe. This is the first time in ages that Chloe's lines didn't make me cringe.
Also, the director played around with the actors line deliveries and mixed the scenes well. They were in stores, they were walking around when they talked... the little details like Clark pushes her away from the stationary store & pulling Lois off the path of the oncoming cab.
And the elevator scene!! *sigh* The way they showed her avoiding him and how Clark wouldn't let it go... and they talked all the way down.... when does that EVER happen in SV?? Usually, they're stuck in the loft or at their desks. Most "SV" scenes are very static... they stay in one place, with minimal movement. Now, the action moved between 10 different sets (all over Metropolis and Smalllville) and we actually saw them acting like real people!!!
LOVED IT!!!

Good Idea. I've been VERY impressed so far this season. The writing and directing has taken a HUGE step up. The actors seem much more comfortable with the material that they have too.
Keep Up the EXCELLENT work!

The dialogue was magnificent in Committed. In all three arcs. Clark/Lois was entertaining, Jimmy/Chloe was so real, and Oliver/Mercy was interesting.

ITA! I loved every bit of this ep. I loved the dialogues, the non-static scenes and most of all the continuity! I loved the facts that we could actually watch Lois and Clark moving from one shop to the other, that in the Tess/Oliver scene we learned Oliver had a real purpose for going into the jewellery and not just making a funny scene.
Also, that the pink handcuffs weren't lost in space after Lois tried them on, that Chloe's appartment was still the way Jimmy prepared it and hadn't miraculously cleaned itself.
And of course, that Lois mentioned she's the maid of honor prepareing us for Bride, the Crimson reference, the fact that Chloe and Lois were about to go to a dress fitting, again, prepareing us for Bride. This and many other little details I absolutley loved!
Thanks to Glen Winter and PS3! Thanks for this amazing episode.

Yes, the writing and the characters and most of the plot lines have been excellent in this season. Some people might think most of the episodes so far have been filler episodes, but I believe that we will get more of a story arc going middle to end of season. They are setting up right now, which the old producers did not really do much. I mean, they set things up. It was a gradual set up. It took maybe one episode, so the anticipation was last and they had less clues to say they are setting something up. Overall, I have to say PS3. You are doing a great job, considering what the old producers left you with. Keep it up.
Just remember, these are my opinions.

Yes, exactly.
And YAY that Chloe mentioned Lana's engagement! And I love that Lois mentioned a story from when they were 10!!
And I also loved that Lois mentioned that she was supposed to meet Chloe for a dress fitting... it made perfect sense, then, that Lois would need to hunt her down.

Eas and others have articulated my feelings about this episode.
The dialogue was so fresh! It allowed for great characterization. Please let this guy keep writing episodes. He totally gets Clark Kent! And he totally gave ED so much to work with in her portrayal of Lois. TW and ED were so spot on tonight. Also, the writing really allowed AA as Jimmy to shine as well. And, Chloe was not a Mary Sue or exposition girl tonight. We got to see inside her heart and soul.
The magic of seasons one, two, and three are back, but this time with Clark as a young adult instead of a teenager.

I totally agree that ps3 have really done a great job with the show so far this year. The direction of the story is finally moving forward! I still think they could incorporate the music at the end of the episodes occasionally. I like the idea of not having a pop song every week, but last night they could have used a song at the end when they went to the daily planet. It would have made the conversation between clark and lois a little more dramatic and truly defined the feelings that they are both hiding. Don't get me wrong, i still enjoyed the scene, but it didn't leave me with the same feeling that a scene like that used to.

Thanks so much...again...for yet another remarkable episode!! Season 8 has been amazing...and we're only on the 5th episode. You guys together writing and producing the show has completely changed Smallville. It is much more tender and exciting...and most of all...Clark is just a few powers away from Superman!! Committed was without a doubt my favorite episode of not just season eight, but the whole series as well. The Clois scenes were perfectly done, and I applaud your decision to omit the kiss, it would have been too much to soon. THANKS SO MUCH!! KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK....AND BRING ON SEASON 8!!!!!!!!!!

You guys are doing amazing job!
It's been 5 episodes and it's been changing in a way it has never been before. The main character is barely recognizable since he actually IS ready to be a Superman, finally acting like one and the only thing that seems to be missing is flights ...and thights :D but besides that being all we wanted him to be for so many years now! Fantastic!
And thank you for giving very much needed attention to Lois and Clark development. They spark together and take the audience with, we enjoy their banter/ development so much! Keep up good work, please! :D

I'd like to thank PS3, too! THANK YOU for saving Smallville's 8th season from being the same crap like season 7 was.
As others said before, you can even tell that the actors are happier with where the show's going than they were last season.
This week's episode was really good - I liked all the Chlois scenes very much. Finally no moping Clark anymore and so much to smile and having fun again -- at last!
The only thing that bothered me was Clark's reaction to that kryptonite bracelet. In other episodes he wasn't able to lift a finger or just to shake it off of his chest (e.g. in "Hero" last season) and now he could even touch it and throw it away....wow, that was really a surprise, wasn't it?
But well, that was last season, now we've got an enhanced Clark ;) and so is his dealing with that green rocks, maybe?
BTW, what is Clark's job at the DP - is he a reporter or just a mild-mannered copy-boy now? That's actually confusing me.

Dear PS3,
Thank you for this season. Thank you for your attention to detail. Thank you for comedy and drama and minimal moping scenes. Thank you for a fresh perspective on an old spin. If Smallville had continued the same way as season 7, I would not have been disappointed if Smallville were to end at the close of season 8. Now, however, I have discovered addiction all over again. We are getting to finally and truly see the evolution of all of these characters that I have loved for nigh on a decade. Thank you for not forgetting family; just because Martha and Jonathan aren't around doesn't mean that there is not a family still on the show, and Lois's drunken speech and the talk she had with Chloe made me feel like, this is a real family. Despite their imperfections, they love each other. Thank you for a reinvigorated, purposeful, manly Clark. This is a Superman I can believe in.
Keep on going, because I believe in you and now I really want season 9.

Yes, PS3 have been doing very well so far. However, I will start to love them only if they handle Lana´s return just as well. I hope they won´t regress Clark again at the altar of Lana worship, turning him into a love-sick fool one last time. (It is well known that Souders is a big Lana fan.) To me, the temporary return of Lana is therefore the final challenge they have to master before I shall be completely happy.

PS3:
I have LOVED every single episode so far this season. In fact, it has been YEARS since I felt that way about this show. You have brought new life and a breath of fresh air to this series that seemed (imho) to be running on stale fumes.
I love the way Clark is being written. He is finally a REAL man. I use to doubt if Clark would be able to become Superman. My doubts are erased.
I love Lois. Simply adore her. In fact, I could watch 5-6 episodes that focus on her. I could.
This is the 1st time in years I have full repsect towards Chloe. She is living her life and loving it!
I love the return of Cho-Lo!!!!! My heart was so full seeing those two together.
I loved the Clois!!!! The banter, the looks, the emotion.... TW and ED have such chemistry together. It is sizzling. Spontaneous combustion I tell you!
I'm even liking the Chimmy! I thought no one could get me fully on board with that ship. But I will admit, I like it!
What can I say... I love SMALLVILLE again! It is the reason I come home on Thursday nights! I almost missed a softball game (I'm the starting catcher) just so that I can watch the show! Luckily for me we were losing 15-5 and the umps called the game. I've never been so happy to lose in my life!!!
Thank you again!!!

Thank you PS3
The show seems rejuvenized and is finally allowing the character to mature and grow. Who knew that season 8 of Smallville would become the show I most look forward to? (I admit, I had stopped watching after season 5.)
I'm so happy to like the character of Clark again. He's using his brain, figuring out the bad guy and saving the day. It's so nice to see him not brooding and whining. The banter and smiles he shares with Lois is so much fun to watch.
The chemistry between Lois and Clark is sizzling and oh-so entertaining. They really do embody all the things we love about this iconic couple.
I absolutely agree with the poster who mentioned the characters speaking like real people. The metaphor-laden speech is distracting and very annoying.
I really enjoyed the cousin interaction. We need to see more of that relationship. Allison and Erica are great together.
And it was so nice to see Chloe happy. The poor girl deserves it. It's nice to see the Chloe-Jimmy relationship fleshed out a bit.
I hope they handle Lana's return with grace and dignity, giving Clark some closure. I want to see him realize why Lana was never right for him.
I'm loving this new and improved Smallville!
If the season keeps going the way it has, I'll definitely be buying the DVDs when they come out.
Thank you for doing such an amazing job! As a Superman fan, I really, really appreciate the stellar work you guys are doing.

I don't post on this site all that often- but PS3 deserve a post about their total awesomeness.
That episode "Committed" was great! The dialogue wasn't cheesy, the direction was new and exciting and I finally felt like I was watching a show with characters I know. That was Clark Kent! He was actually being CLARK! There was a personality under all that angst after all! Holy smokes!
And thank god for Lois. Seriously, Erica Durance is the one thing that kept me watching this show the last couple seasons- even Tom Welling's uberhotness wasn't enough for me to tune into the dead-end plot/ Lana-fest every week. Lois has made some of the best moments on the show and Durance's acting seems to get better every episode.
I just really want to say thank you for finally showing some respect to Superman and making this show enjoyable. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

AlMiles gave us Smallville, but they clearly ran out of ideas after they realized they wouldn't be following their original 5 year plan. They began trying to stretch it out, and it showed. The show has basically lacked purpose since the end of S5. But now, PS3 have revamped the show and given it the sense of purpose that it was so sorely lacking. Thank you so much for an amazing season, guys! It feels like seasons 3 & 5 (my favorites) again!

Thank you PS3 for finally taking this show seriously. There are still a few things that need tweaking but you are doing an excellent job so far.
Lois is written beautifully. I've been a fan of hers but let me tell you that when the Smallville Enterprise was captained by others it got difficult to defend her at times. You have made her someone that I am so very glad I stood by for all the seasons we have had her.
Clark Superman Kent. Oh he is wonderful this season! I had a hard time on occasion even liking him and wasn't sure if my hope for him embracing what it is to be Superman would come to fruition. He'd have moments where he was so fantastic and then frustratingly be thrown back more than a few pegs (mostly due to the far too dragged out Clana relationship) Now? I'm loving him and I'm loving YOU for making that possible.
He is the main character of the show and finally, at last he really IS in more than title. Like McDonald's, I'm lovin' it.
There is great chemistry between Tess and the newbies, especially Lois, and I think you have made her an interesting character to be sure. I'm not sure where her relationship with Oliver is going, but so far it isn't too bad.
I really like how Chloe is being written this season and that she is given a reason and a purpose for not being at the DP. The character has some fans that were really upset when she wasn't there anymore, but I don't think she was getting her most potential when she was there and it seems you agree with me, but I did and do want to see where she really does fit. So far I'm liking it.
I think you are doing a fairly decent job with Chloe and Jimmy's relationship, but sometimes I have to admit that the chemistry falls flat. I'm more than sure you don't intend to keep them together forever but . . . and I hate to rain on the appreciation parade, I think maybe some more work could be done with them?
The Clois is actually very nice and I like how neither Lois or Clark has to be made into a patsy just so the other one looks smarter. They are on equal terms in so far as the mortal abiltiies go. Clark always gets field advantage due to the plethora of abilties he has, but what is great about that is you show him getting some good use from them and seemingly liking it as well. He occasionally gets some help from Chloe, but that's fine. I just hated it when he went to her for everything, EVEN his powers. I didn't like that at all, and I'm glad that it lessened so she has more time to deal with her own stuff and Clark is going about getting information on his own.
I only request that you don't push the Clois too fast. It is worth taking time for and I think the majority of fans would appreciate a nice slow buildup. So far so good, but I just needed to get that extra two cents in there.
I have another request as well, please for the love of God get rid of the Talon and turn into a set in Metropolis because it's getting silly for Lois, Chloe and Jimmy to live in Smallville anymore. They work in Metropolis and most of the action is in Metropolis.
It's not a major point but I would like to see it changed.
I'm glad to see you dealing with the Chlark as well, because I think it was unfairly left out there to sort of dangle and has caused a lot of grief and shipper wars. I know not everyone is happy with the outcome thus far, but I am. I think maybe there shouldn't have been as much apathy towards the 'Fever' letter, but it wasn't that horrible and I like that even though there aren't romantic feelings there that they are still really good friends and care about eachother.
So far, I like what you are doing, and there are only a few small things that need improvement. This season suprised me in a very good way. It is rare for shows to last this many seasons, though lord knows that 7'th Heaven and ER lasted for an eternity. It is even more rare for the latter seasons of a show to be really good, but season eight of Smallville is lovely. It is my favorite season, and it is the good writing backed by good acting that makes it so. Kudos to you all!

Amen to that! I haven't purchased SV dvds ever, but this season I am totally pre-ordering with Amazon! And I'm also buying the eps on itunes until the dvds get released.
That is how much I love this season, PS3.
IT IS AMAZING.

Can someone please tell me what PS3 stands for
thanks
It's a game console to play smallville games on. j/k LOL
Don't worry, it took me a while too but I finally figured it out.
Anyway, the season has been great. I am excited week after week again to see a new episode. Refreshing change from 6 nad 7's whining over Lana's Clark. Keep up the pace,
just one more thing I one to see this season and soon.
PLEASE let him learn to defy gravity! Even if he floats, hovers or something. Come on!

sign me up, imagine if these guys were around from the begining, smallville was my favorite show then it slowly dragged down but these guys are making smallville a must watch every week! not thart i have ever missed an episode.
Funny thing is, they have been around from almost the beginning but AlMiles ran things so they didn't have as great of input. Smallville would have been the greatest superhero show ever by now if they did have a larger input then.

Well... actually it's not a console. Are the last names of the writers. Brian Peterson, Kelly Souders, Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer. 1 P, 3 S = PS3 :)
Anyway...ITA about the flying/floating part.

Didn't catch the sarcasm there? I knew what it meant. Just having fun. That's why I put j/k LOL at the end of that sentence.

I agree with everyone in here. This season is so great. So fresh, so entertaining, so Supermanly. :D I feel exactly the same. Clark is so different in this season and as someone says he is the reason why I like so much this show. So "10/10" for me:)

thanks PS3 for these awesome episodes :D:D:D
this is the best season ever :):):)
Eas, I never realized how much the constant use of metaphores was bothering me until I read your post. You are so right, I think it's the first time in a long time since the characters of this series are talking like real people.
I know, right??? I HATE the mixed metaphors... it's the worst with Chloe. It's been really bad for the past couple of years. It's a bad fan-fic with a Chloe on crack.
This episode, Chloe actually used simple words and sentences... very few vague pop cultural references... no mixed metaphors.
I loved it... keep it up, PS3!!!

Dear PS3:
This is the best season in years. I only wish you would have taken over sooner, and we could have avoided so much pain and suffering!! Thank you so much for moving Clark out of the pathetic personality he developed after Promise. He is smart, funny, confident, and heroic. THIS guy, I could see becoming Superman someday.
Thank you for putting some fresh energy into this show, and giving better continuity, tying things together better, and for creating new and interesting storylines rather than the old recurring ones. Chloe is actually going to move on from Clark after seven seasons of pining? Bravo!!!! Clark is slowly moving on from Lana? Yes! The Chimmy angst over Chlark was actually addressed and dispelled? Wow!!! This feels like a whole new show! Every episode, I find myself saying "whoa! that was cool!"
Please, please keep up the good work.
