did anyone get the feeling lois was showing off in front of ollie, given they had broken up but was boasting and bragging in front of him just a WEE bit more than necessary? dont get me wrong it was great but rewatching it again it seems as if shes DEFINITELY more excited about rubbing it in oliver's face than clark was

the jeweler was right there...she had to keep the same "cupcake" attitude. I don't think it had to do with oliver

Honestly I didn't see that. I think they were just trying to stay undercover. In fact she looks more embarassed about it at first.

Really? I thought she looked embarrassed and flustered. She actually holds up her hand to show him the ring, with a bit of look... like, "Just go with it, Ollie!!"

The sense I got was that Ollie wasn't unhappy about it - just incredibly surprised. And Lois didn't seem to think that Ollie would be unhappy - she was just scared that he'd blow the cover.

Clark was the most un-readable throughout the scene... on the one hand, he wan't happy that Ollie caught them, but he also didn't really look embarrassed, either. He was almost resigned if that makes any sense. He was happy to let Lois take the lead and she - true to her nature - started babbling.

I agree eas, I didn't get the impression that she was flaunting it at all. It seemed to me a pure case of 'AWW crap, he's gonna blow the cover!'

Clark was definitely resigned. It's like he was thinking "Well, Lois is really going for it, no point in fighting."

I've got to admit that I think she enjoyed watching him squirm just a little.

I didn't think she was bragging just trying to sound believable and in character just like Clark.

I loved that scene when Ollie caught Clark and Lois in the jewelry store. I think they had to keep up the act for the jeweler and in Lois fashion she said more than she had to. I wonder if Ollie still thinks they are engaged.

I said this in another thread... but.. I actually had to pause the ep to catch my breath because I was laughing so hard watching the three of them in that situation :rotfl:
I don't remember smiling, squeeing or laughing so hard while watching a Smallville ep, no offense AlMiles...

IDK, there was something more there than just trying not to blow their cover, Lois was definitely more into in respect to it being Oliver.

i didn't get the sense she was showing off, but the dialogue in that scene was hysterical.

ITA. I don't think she was showing off...I think it was more of trying to keep the cover...But it was a great scene...:D

I agree! That's Lois Lane..keeping her cool, and her cover at the same time!;)
I have to admit though, Ollie's expression was FANTASTIC! I could just see Clark eyeing him and saying "I'll explain later!"

I thought Lois and Clark looked like they were caught doing something they felt guilty about, and Ollie looked incredulous and confused. IMO.

I don't think she was showing off. I think that she was just panicking that someone who could blow the engagement story right out of the water walked in through the front door.

I have to admit, I thought Justin did some of his best work in this scene, he was absolutely priceless.

If anything I think her lie got a little more clunky... but it wasn't showing off...

It wasn't showing off. It was an awkward moment. Nothing more. They were actually trying to maintain their cover. Lois is barely admitting to herself that she likes Clark, let alone bragging about it...

Panicking is the right word. She almost ran away at the end of the scene. I was afraid she'd forget to take the ring off. LOL!

Ha! I thought the same thing! I was waiting for her to walk out of the store with the ring still on.

But I agree that she definitely panicking, with a side of embarrassment. I think seeing Ollie flustered her a bit more than anyone else would have.... But I don't think she was trying to rub it in.

The whole scene was hilarious.

I agree. I thought that that whole scene was about them trying to come up with a cover story on the fly and mentally telegraph to Ollie that he should play along.

i loved this scene it was, hilarious!
the expressions on their faces were just funny.
i don't think lois was trying to show of, though. i think she just said all of that because the jeweler was there, and she didn't want to blow the cover.

So true! All of them did a great job in that scene, but IMO Justin was the best! I laughed so much because of Justins reaction :rotfl:

Yeah just a little bit but it was so funny. I loved ollies face the whole time. Poor oliie. We shall have to see how that gets resolved between clark and oliver

I wonder if Ollie still thinks they are engaged.

I was actually wondering the same thing, but I guess he probably found out they weren't when the jewler confessed to the police and the DP ran the story. But if he did, that would be hilarious, especially if he brought in up in another episode, but I doubt that will happen.

The best line in that scene was Oliver: Is this true?
Clark: I'm afraid so.

Showing off? Nope. She just seemed kind of nervous about being caught in a lie.

I think she wasn't showing off, either way it was so funny. You know Lois going undercover to get what she wants, hasn't she played a stripper, a girl wanting plastic surgery, as fighter(leather suit.) Even though all those times she got in trouble she still got what she wanted.

I don't think she was showing off she was just sticking to her role. She actually looked pretty nervous when he walked in. I think it was because she didn't want her cover blown.
