Which fifth episode to air was your favorite?

Cool- He's the coolest guy in school - and a stone coold danger to everyone he meets. A fall into icy, kryptonite laced crater lake turns student into hypothermic monster who seeks to rob others of their body heat.

Nocturne- Poems are left for Lana that are sweet and eloquent, but are they harmless? The author turns into a beat when he gets hit with light.

Perry- A reporter comes in town to see if the rumors of the Smallville rocks are true, and then it get's confirmed for him when he see's Clark do an amazing and impossible feat. His name: Perry White.

Run- There is no one faster then Clark... Or is there. That's what Clark thinks, until he meets a little hoodlum by the name of Bart who can run faster then him...

Thirst- No one is going to choose this... (Lana get's infected by vampire's and it reveals a whole different side of her.)

Reunion- Lex and Oliver meet at there old school Excelsior, and then a a tragedy happens. It seems old school mates of Lex and Oliver are being killed.

Action- A filming crew comes to Smallville to film the new Warrior Angel, and all seems well until the main actress almost get's killed. Seems like some fans don't like this adaption.

Committed- Chloe and Jimmy are kidnapped and put through a test to see if they truly love each other. Lois and Clark Attempt to find them by acting undercover and pretending to get married.

THIRST!

No, okay, seriously now...

Honestly, I loved Run and Perry both, but Committed knocked it out of the park for me. From beginning to end, it had great performances all around, I loved Clark putting the pieces together, there was humor and action and drama...definitely "Committed" wins on this one IMO.

Why did you guys like this episode? is it because the whole Q&A? or because it was dark as heck and it echoed those torture-porn movies? I liked the whole subplot where everybody reveals their secrets but why do they need to be so grotesque like?!?!? hated the feeling.
My fave eppy def is Perry

I'm gonna have to go with "Committed" after some thoughts, but I'm only going with it for now... there is always a chance next year's (if there is a Season Nine) 5th episode could defeat "Committed" and all the past episodes.

I'm LOVING Clark Kent.

Every episode this season he is stone cold AWESOME!

I'm not feelin' the chemistry with Chimmy, but it isn't for lack of trying.

I do like how Lois and Clark are playing off eachother.

Chloe seems a much more matured character and she wasn't that immature to begin with, but it just feels like a more adult show that I'm watching.

And just because it needs to be said again CLARK IS FRACKING AWESOME THIS SEASON!

:D

So I did like Perry and Run quite a bit so I'll rank Committed as even. Not better, because it was a very different episode than Perry and Run in more ways than one. (Hey I rhymed!) But I did like it quite a bit.

Run is the best out of all of all of them ! commited is my least favorite . lie detectors to show how chracters feels about eachother is not entertaining . i like stories and chracter build up , i don't like having my dinner shoved down my throat along with tonights relationship anvils. But clark kent was great i loved him tonight and his facial expressions are very funny and sweet . i will always love clark kent .

run was a beautiful episode all the colrs bright and vibrant ... ahhhh the good old days .... i miss you .
Run definetly the best !

Well, I do think a number of people are genuinely enjoying this season more. And, IMO, that has a LOT to do with Clark. Even episodes like Toxic, which I thought was the weakest of the season, is more enjoyable to me than a number of previous seasons' episodes because the characterization of Clark is just SO much more fun to watch! He's smart and proactive and heroic...he's not sitting in a barn moping or whining about his love life.

That's just IMO, mind, but even where there's a close call with this seasons' episodes (for the most part) and previous seasons' episodes, I feel inclined to pick this season's, just because if there's nothing else I'm loving about the episode, I'm loving the new and improved Clark.

He's the character I've been wanting to see and the one I gave up on in late season 5 to late season 6.

I agree that Clark is more bearable this season. I would dare to say that the departure of a certain character might have something to do with that. He doesn't mope about love triangles anymore.
But there were some good episodes in the past. I still think Perry and Run is superior. But to each his own :)

i made a post earlier in another thread about complaining about past episodes...the thread starter likes them more than they did originaly...people tend to vote on stuff like this based on the their temporary emotional state...looking at old episodes now, well, they seem better...most complaints come from shippers who are not getting their way...most complaints do not come from sober unbiased observation...it rarely has anything to do with actual quality of a television show...

same thing here...er...well the opposite when they like it...and before anyone starts bashing, i said MOST complaints..

EDIT: sorry about screwing up the quote...

And I know about violence, I live in Chicago LOL but I'm just a girl that happens to have a lot of problems and the least thing I want is watch my fav. show and be stressed about it too.. I actually didn't like the Perry White episode. I know, sacrilegious, right? But I thought it was boring... I remember, in general, not being very happy with S3. It was the year “The OC” came out and it was up against “SV”. I would watch “SV” live and tape “The OC”… but, after awhile, “SV” was more a habit than a show I loved to watch.

I’ve tried to re-watch that episode since, but I can never really get into it. :\

I voted for “Committed” not because it’s the last one I just saw, but because Clark was 100% Superman and awesome. And, of course, Lois rocked and so did the Clois.

Up to this point, I’ve always voted “Run” as my favorite episode from the list. Now, “Run” is #2.

In general, I think that a series' latest episode should be the best. If it's not, then the series' is doing something wrong. Quality should always go up - not down. So, if folks are voting for the latest episode, then that means that PS3 is doing something right. They're making people happy with S8 & not having them moan and groan for past seasons.

That's a good thing - not a bad thing.

My earlier post was based on the bfact that this episode was too soap opera for me. Clark i have to admit is excellent this year that is the ONLY thing i like this season is CLARK KENT. Im tired of these angsty shipper episodes starting shipper wars just to keep ratings.

there is too many relationship anvils IMO. but therest of the story the bedroom with handcuffs was funny the olsen not so wholesome and clarks reaction was funny as hell.
but this is not enough to beat episode run IMO. run had beautiful colors and was about friendship and family and doing whats right .

committed ugh i have a slight concusion from the refridgerator that landed on my head . The anvils and sledge hammers are getting old and my shipper preference has NOTHING to do with it !

Im tired of the angst im tired of having relationships shoved down my throat and being told i have to like them just because a comic book tells me or maxima tells me or now better yet a dam lie detector test.

Clark is wonderful this season that is true but i ahve seen way better epsiodes with alot more meanings and i do agree with alot of you.... go back and watch the episode again with an open mind . this was a filler soap opera episode. bring on doomsday now next week is something that is gonna be worth watching. i want an episode about this not darn shipping and thats all comitted was. there os other ways to bring couples together instead of wasting the full 45 minutes on this soap opera cow dung and yes i mean chimmy too. how can anyone beilieve this ?

Lois love's clark now ? i believe she has attraction and a crush that could be built into love but no they have her saying she loves him now ? then there is tess and ollie come one open eyes people this was a shipper episode and nothing else.

Calrk kent rocks that is the only plus in this episode so IMO run out runs this episode by far .

On that note, I may be in the minority here, but I thought Thirst was very fun. I wouldn't call it epic, in "Hidden" or "Apocolypse" fashion, or riveting in "Labyrinth" or "Descent" fashion, but still a good, fun episode for what its worth.

i hated jimmy/chimmy/and sleeper. But the reason i hated sleeper was clark.

Clark: You need to do more to find out how to save Lana?
Chloe: Ok I'll do what I can. HaVE YOU FOUND ANYTHING OUT?
Clark: No I was sitting with Lana holding her hand...she has soft hands.
Chloe: Ok Clark but what about Lex?
Clark: I don't care about Lex. He might be bad but Lana should be our priority for now.
Chloe: Well Clark there is only so much I can do as your powerless sidekick...well almost powerless sidekick.
Clark: Don't you care about Lana? She is you friend. If you don't do everything possible including being beaten up by a not so nice (possibly not so legit) DDS Biatch then obviously you were never really her friend
Chloe: Ok GuiltO I'm doing my best while you aren't doing much.
Clark: I wonder if Lana needs some fresh flowers. (Clark superspeeds away)
Chloe: If he wasn't built like a greek god i would so grind up kryptonite and put it into his food...damn hot alien bastard....that D-HAB!

OH if only this was how it would've played out in the ep....maybe I would've liked sleeper:p

... and the fact that that was pretty much his only scene! I love Smallville, but for being so close to the end of the season and having extremely little to do with Clark, Sleeper was ridiculous!

As for favorite fifth episode... I found this one really difficult to decide on. Run and Perry were extremely important episodes for the show, IMO... but Committed was also very good, and I actually love them all... I'm undecided.

Run...although this was really close for me. I can still remember how I watched Run over and over, and it was so well writen. This one was great cuz I can't wait to see Clark really fall for Lois, but in the end, it's another green K EP.

i voted for Perry and i liked Committed very much but i also really loved Thirst.I see many people didnt like thirst and i dont get it.other than Carrie Fishers performance/lipstick i thought it had allot of content, great acting by KK and addressed the superman mythos with the whole not liking masks/cape comments.Thirst is one of my favorites and i just dont get all of the hate towards it

Perry & Run were both very good, but I liked Perry better. Cool was also very good. Committed was another shipper's episode (like Instinct) and I didn't care for it too much. Next week's episode looks great.

Right i'm back
Now i know that theres the whole idea that "the most recent episode should be the best", because imo it should be - episodes should be improving.
HOWEVER, that said, i have to go with "Run". As it is one of my all time favourite episodes. We got the introduction to Bart *sigh*, and the acting was top notch all round (yes, i'm talking about you Mr Welling).

Committed is a close second though ;)

Committed is way better than any of the others, IMO. Perry was pretty good, but Committed still wins.

"Committed" may have had some cool moments, especially for fans of the Clois ship as something to keep them satisfied and talking, and some chilling scary stuff in it, but in my mind, there are still two 5th episodes that can beat it.

"Perry" was classic. Michael McKean OWNED that character, and I've been hoping for his return for five seasons now (with no luck so far). Why they never followed up on that storyline, I'll never know.

"Run" was one of the best "introduce a future Justice League member" episodes. Bart was funny, charismatic, and cool, and his relationship with Clark had a nice brotherly vibe that I hadn't really seen much of since "Stray" and "Ryan."

The rest of them weren't particularly awesome. "Cool," "Nocturne," and "Action were pretty much clunkers, "Thirst" was disturbingly gross, and "Reunion" was just slightly subpar.

It was really awesome to include Bart in Smallville and the episode was actually really good so I choose that one.

I love "Committed" and "Reunion" (can't believe it has gotten so few votes). It's a hard decision, but I have to choose "Committed."

I just love the interaction between Clark and Lois. Erica Durance was wonderful in this episode, especially where she said she loved Clark. I am also a firm believer that, even though they didn't say it, Chloe was able to use her Brainiac powers to fool the machine when she said she loved Jimmy. I still, even with S8 being over, don't believe that she ever truly loved him.

I also loved the scene where they told Oliver they were getting married. Hilarious. :)

Oh, and I loved the dark tone to this episode, although it had some nice lightness mixed in. I think this season played the darker side much more, and much better, than any season before. This season had a lot less cheesy moments (yet they were still there. Hello "Stiletto") and had darker story-lines, which is why it is my favorite season.

Anyway, my list goes:

1. Committed
2. Reunion
3. Perry
4. Run
5. Action
6. Cool
7. Thirst
8. Nocturne

I have to admit that "Reunion" was a better episode than I originally thought after watching it a second time. And BTW, you brought up an interesting point about Chloe's possibly being able to fool the polygraph test machine with her latent Brainiac abilities. It is HIGHLY possible that Brainiac within her would've overridden the machine without the jeweler realizing it, or perhaps even Chloe, to keep his host alive.

I, too, really did enjoy Season 8 as well, with the exception of a few moments that were a little TOO gory, even for a dark season, and of course the whole Jimmy/Henry death/retcon deal.
