i believe that was super-breath when clark blew open the door of that underground place the jeweler was keeping them, for the first time in like 10 episodes or more

Haha yeah and that was awesome. That was an epic blow down of the door.

Anybody else like the "statistically the safer way to travel" line about the elevator? Nice little nod to Christopher Reeve's Superman there.

I don't think we've seen it since "Sneeze" that I can recall so well over a season and a half.

ETA: YAY Superbreath!!

I know we saw it in 6.15 "Freak," but I can't remember anything past that.

And yes, Yay for superbreath! :D

Cellist
10-16-2008, 07:49 PM
Yeah, I thought that it was his superbreath, but I wasn't sure.

Also, Clark used it in "Freak" in the Smallville Medical Center to create a distraction while he stole the guy's laptop.

Was that the last time we saw it...?

SnowBird

That was an awesome scene with Clark coming to save Lois. I didn't realize it was super breath since I didn't see Clark use it but I believe it could have been.

If it was superbreath then I am so happy! That is a power I thought I'd never see again!! Thank you writers!!! Especially for having Clark using three powers in a row like that!!

And Brandon Routh, who copied Christopher Reeve.

I guess it might have been superbreath. What I wish he had, though, is super FREEZE breath!

Yea rewatch the scene it was superbreath. As for clark using it he has only used it 2-3 times since he got the power in Sneeze.

even Kara used superbreath more times than Clark last season, although it did end up as a deleted scene in the end

No idea why that power cant be used more, even just subtle blows such as in Freak. Wouldnt cost much for the special and sound effect would it?

Agreed. I'm glad that it made a return. They really missed an opportunity to use it on the bus in Plastique.

Ha ha ha yes I loved that quote from Clark "statistically the safer way to travel" :rotfl:
What a classic.

Did anyone else think how comes the kidnapper didn't question how the hell Clark blew the door clean off the hinges? Or Lois for that matter. I'd be like where did you get the explosives? You'd think the kidnapper would at least run for cover or something as he's think that perhaps the police had finally caught up with him.

It looked like it but we can't be certain. We should see super-breath and x-ray more often. These powers have become rare to see in the show and i actually wonder why??

I just rewatched the scene on Youtube and that is FOR SURE SUPERBREATH!!! YEAH!!!

I thought Clark used strength to break the door open to save Lois from the jewler, but I watched it twice. You can hear the SOUND EFFECT of super breath and also, you can see that effect of the super breath blowing the door.

It was kind of hard to notice. Everyone has been wanting super breath, Clark didnīt use super breath at all last season. But Clark just used super breath finally, they just didnīt show a good shot.

Everyone noticed it. It's been discussed in multiple threads, including the special effects thread and a thread devoted to it's use in this episode.

I think you may be right.

Mr. Clark Kent27

Didnīt look like the best way to do it because itīs Smallville style. Trying not to make the super powers Clark uses, to look like the way Superman does it.

Like flying, on Smallville, First Clark used energy before taking off, and also he flies without his arms in the air.

Then heat vision, looks more real, not like the laser beams.

Xray vision looks like a real xray picture as if you were taking a picture of someoneīs body. And not like seeing through walls.

Super hearing is the most original power effect they have made on Smallville. The round circle thing coming into Clarkīs ears. Now itīs different, like Clark hears everything, lights goes on. On other Superman shows, all they need to do is make a sound effect.

Super speed is awesome. Of course Superman can run faster than a speeding bullet but in the Superman movies, he flies pretty fast. He is mostly just known for flying pretty fast, but he didnīt always fly faster than a speeding bullet.
I like how Clark runs extremely fast on Smallville, and plus you see that blur.

And super breath, weīve seen Superman blow his super breath to clean out fires, but on Smallville, you never see a face shot of Clark using super breath. They show a shot of Clark using super breath from a far distance maybe or, you just see the super breath coming out of nowhere without seeing Clark there.

Itīs obvious on Smallville, they have to find a way to do their super powers differently from Superman. Wish they did super breath a little better.

I thought he just superspeeded into the wall and broke It I dont think he used his superbreath on it.

It was def super breath. I have rewatched it and the sound and special effects are that of high velocity wind not just slamming into a wall. You can see the air wave ripples.

It was a nice surprise. You don't have to see him puff to know that it was superbreath.

Well, I didn't know what to think. I was confused. Was he using his superbreath or simply pushing the door of it's hinges, tearing it to shreds?

If it's superbreath, then hip hip hooray for superlungs!

It was clearly superbreath like i and others have stated over and over. Watch the scene again u can clearly see the fx lines for superbreath and the sound effect they have used for the power.

I have taken note when I watched the scene again and it is definately super breath. First we see Clark using super hearing and it seems like he didn't even want to wait till he got to the door to break it down. It was very cool to watch and I would like to see more super breath used as it seems one of the least used ability.

I think it IS his least used abilitiy.

First time using it: Blowing open door in Sneeze
Second: Blowing out fire in Sneeze
Third: Blowing clouds away in Sneeze
Fourth: Blowing around papers in Freak
Fifth: Blowing open door in Committed.

Yep a total of five times. That's not much.
