Anybody wonder if the show will take more darker themes as the seasons progress and themes like Smallville, which was in the beginning all high school and teen angst then it became dark like in Season 8 with Doomsday.

I don't think they will ever go all dark. This show is awesome because it blends everything in perfectly. It's just a joy to watch.

Chuck is classified as a "dramedy" blend of drama & Comedy, they don't usually get too dark, sort of like Monk.

If you look at Season One, there are "darker" episodes, but even then the comedy elements remain strong. I think it's one of the things that makes the show so great. I see it evolving, but never going too far into those aspects.

certainly. although i hope they never get too dark. the overall lightheartedness is a large part of this show's charm. ;)

You are so right, jim mayniam but look at Smallville, its episodes begun as lighthearted teen angst then slowly became young adult, to dark episodes like next week, (spoilers) doomsday shows up, its going to be wild.

Yeah but SV was never intended to be comedic, although it has more light-hearted moments from time to time. For example, I don't ever recall seeing Pete Ross clapping and dancing energetically to Hanson when he was DJing at the Talon (plus it simply wouldn't have been as funny on SV because of the circumstances alone).
