I'm actually thinking Sylar's personality conflict is a result of seeing Peter the way he is with his own power. Kind of a realization, a wake up call so to speak

I think its to do with Angela.
If you remember in S1 when we "Six Months Ago" aired, Sylar told Chandra that he'd always felt, out of place with his "parents" that they were, insignificant. I think ultimately, that lead to him killing, to try and be better than them, prove himself higher and worthy.

And now, hes found out he was adpoted. His real mother is Angela, and Peter and Nathan are his brothers. And they're not insignificant, they're the exact opposite. Angela is putting faith in hin and testing him, and i think hes really trying to be good. He saved Claire, and he didn't have too.

How long it'll last we don't know.

He's just sitting back waiting for things to play out. I think he is a bit intrigued. I think the real Sylar will rear his ugly head back at some point.
