Gotta say I am having some difficulty buying that Chloe has lost all interest in journalism due to being sacked from the DP by Lex.
The girl has practically lived and breathed journalism since she was 6/7 years old, would she really give up on her dream due to one small setback?
I know she is a meteor freak and she wants to help others with the Isis foundation but I really can't see the Chloe we have known over the past seasons being satisfied with just that. This to me is really OOC for her. Obviously the writers want to have Lois and Clark at the DP and Chloe is now the third wheel so she has been relegated to other activities.
I would much prefer if they just had her working for a different newspaper.

A lightswitch 'off' for the writers in order to try to create enthusiasm for ClarkMan with Smallville's version of a lois.

Even so, I too was hoping for the snarky reporter to continue to shine....perhaps eventually on Gotham's best paper?

With everything that's been going on in Chloe's life (her new powers, her old powers, being "arrested" and tested on for a month, her engagement to Jimmy, etc) has definitely changed her outlook on life.
But it's only been a few episodes, I'm sure she will go back to her roots and find something that will feed her reporter instincts, but not any time soon. I give her a couple years or so, let her settle her life out, and then I think she will try working at some small paper and build from there.

You raise an excellent point. Chloe for 7 seasons has been presented as the tenacious, strong-willed young woman who has newspaper ink in her blood and a driven will to succeed. After being fired by the evil villainous monster Lex Luthor from her dream job at The Daily Planet, she suddenly has no interest in pursuing journalism any longer. I don't have any real problem if the bimbos who are writing the series want to move Chloe into another professional, but the way it has been written and presented is one of the worst cases of amateur, pathetic writing by so-called professional writers that I have seen. IMHO it appears that Chloe's move away from journalism is a knee-jerk approach to placing Lois the air-head as a reporter at The Planet.
I personally have no confidence in the incompetence of the writers to make any sense of their current flight of mindlessness. However, I will continue to watch the series, as I have, simply to see Allison Mack continue her excellent portrayal of Chloe Sullivan.

I don't think Chloe has been really interested in being the great journalists since she found out Clark's secret. She seemed to used her reporter status as a cover to her helping Clark and Oliver. Helping these two guys (one more so than the other) became top priority to her seasons ago.
Don't forget the fact that there is something wrong with Chloe this season so journalism, which had already taken a back seat to Clark is in the back seat again to something more sinister.
After all this is over, Chloe may not want to write the stories anymore but be the person who all the great stories are written about.

Gone were the days where she was ready to publish her articles on another name despite being fired because of Lionel Luthor. She was so ndetermined back then. She didn't let anyone get in her way.
You would think that after witnessing how Lex treated meteor freaks, after being kidnapped by his team and mostly after what he did to her own mother Chloe would try to get a job at another newspaper or do anything else to expose him?
Here's what Al Gough said in a TVGuide article from last April while talking about ''Descent'' :
Lex has Chloe fired from the Daily Planet, which only steps up her crusade to expose his crimes
Next you know Chloe is running Lana's leftover operation and play Mother Teresa for the meteor freaks. How about using Isis to expose LC also.
They write episodes like Progeny, made Chloe do research on level 33.1 and LuthorCorp but instead of giving a pay-off for the sake of good storytelling they just drop it and take her to a different direction.

Chloe is much more preoccupied right now by the Brainiac's issue than she is willing to admit, the Isis's project is taking alot of her time, her wedding and the new guy Davis. Her lack of passion for journalism and her super-computered mind this season are because of Brainiac who is taking more place in her mind.I'm sure she will become herself again when he'll vanish from her body.By the way,Chloe's destiny is not writing in stone like the others. She can do what ever she wants in the future.Like, open a help center for meteor infected people, become the watchtower of JL,editor of big newspaper or writter of comic book called superman :D

It would feel more realistic to me if Chloe still loved journalism, but was taking a temporary hiatus to sort out ISIS, her own meteor infection, the Brainiac effect, her relationship with Jimmy, and her wedding plans; all the while keeping a journal of her exploits that she will at some point use to write and publish her first book.
Her book will be a hit and she will realize that she can do everything that she loves about journalism as an author and not have to deal with politics of working for a major newspaper.

Well, I wouldn't complain too much about "bimbo writers" coming up with scripts. At least we're not on a writers' strike!!! ;)
