View Full Version : Do you miss the sex scenes (as in pevious seasons)?
Wow, it just hit me- it's been quite a while since Smallville had scenes that were shameless excuses to showcase supermodel flesh on screen to boost ratings. When was the last time anyway- I don't recall any sleeziness in seasons 6 or 7. So do we miss Smallville soft-core? Do we want more? Less?
Did you forget about the episode in season 7 where Lana gained Clarks powers and they had...raunchy sex? I spent that episode going "Oh no they didn't just do that". The episode itself was pretty good. I really enjoyed Bad Ass Lana and Lex. However, the Clark/Lana sex scene aka The SuperBang was TACKY!!!

I personally don't think that sex and Superman really have much to do with each other. I'm not happy that Richard Donner had Clark & Lois sleep together in "Superman II", or that numerous versions of Superman have done the same since.
In my honest opinion, premarital sex is something that contradicts the "supreme morality" which Clark as a character is supposed to exemplify. Having him commit such a common human mistake cheapens the character. I mean, how is anyone supposed to admire someone who's as fallible as they are? It just doesn't work.
As for "Smallville", I don't think that Clark should've had sex with anyone on the series. I think Al & Miles tried to turn the series into a comic-based soap opera, which it's not supposed to be. And now, it seems like the "PS3" team is carrying on the sad tradition, instead of holding to the virtues of the original legend. Having Clark act violently under Red K is one thing; constantly giving him excuses to seduce Lana, Lois, and Chloe is something entirely different. The sex factor of this series has officially gone overboard...and I really hope they table it seriously down, because my enjoyment of this show is beginning to decline. I want to see "Smallville" be about Clark fighting injustice, conquering evil, selflessly rescuing humanity on a regular basis...not something that uses the legend as little more than a slutty excuse.

I still think Superman should have good morals, but the idea that he never ever has any type of sex life is rediculous.
I didn't think Instinct was too bad. The sex scene didn't extend to actual sex, or "no clothes" so it was ok. I didn't like Hypnotic. And I've never actually liked any scene where Clark is sans clothing.

Maybe because "supreme morality" isn't that any more. "Morality" doesn't mean conforming to conventional, stereotypical lifestyles. Most people these days have gotten used to the idea that if what you're doing doesn't hurt anyone, then it's your own business. Superman should about universal ideals...not about slavishly adhering to outdated ideas about morality.
Well said! :)

Season 6's Combat had that scene between a leather clad Lois and wrestler Ashley who was dressed and a nice little nothing - their dialogue and blocking had blatantly sexually suggestive undertones. That sorta counts...

haha SuperBang, nicely put.
It was tacky, but I still found it funny and almost shocking that they went there since compared to other WB/CW shows they are pretty tame :p

Superman should about universal ideals...not about slavishly adhering to outdated ideas about morality. The problem with that (at least in reference to the Superman legend) is that this character was supposed to be one that humanity could look up to, admire, and strive to be like in terms of integrity. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd have a very difficult time respecting (let alone admiring) a guy whose idea of "higher morality" includes such things as boldface lying, stealing, premarital sex, etc.
IMO, the character of Superman was supposed to be above such things; last week's episode didn't do too well on that front, at least for me.

It makes no difference to me as long as is well stablished within the current story parameters if not then so be it, if the story calls for a sex scene of some sort the writters will surely place it in...

I'm not going to be caught up in any morality issues. Sex between two consenting adults is not immoral.
I have definitely missed having some steamy scenes in Smallville - MORE PLEASE!!!
Especially Clark steamy scenes, they are hot. He is a young red blooded man nay SUPERMAN, he needs to be getting some action. Clark Kent had lovers before Lois Lane and he has been tied up in the Clana saga for 8 years now he needs to make up for some lost time :D
I was actually revisiting some old Clark on red K episodes for a bit of spontaneous hot action so this episode was greeted very warmly :p

Hmmm... I wouldn't mind a little more sex in the right context, but frankly, I find heavy tension more of a turn-on.

I agree, Clark should only have sex if it's with the person he sees himself growing old with.
That premarital thing bugs me, though. It's not like he was a virgin when he had premarital sex with Lois in the comics (post-crisis). I think he shouldn't have casual sex.

Well, since I am an "old guy", I come from a generation that doesn't think that Clark/Superman should be having pre-marital sex.
But in today's time, those things happen - even to the ultimate "boy scout". I can understand it if Clark chose to have sex with someone that he viewed as his true soulmate. Even if the person turns out not to be his soulmate (i.e. following comic canon, that would be anyone other than Lois), I could accept it if Clark truly felt that person was his soulmate at that time. Anything less than that just doesn't fit with my interpretation of what his moral compass should be.

Not really. I don't like sex scenes in anything, really. It's not right to do it before marriage. But, its only a show. I'm actually glad they're stopping them.

Hoo boy! As a straight woman I find myself very interested when Clark is shirtless. *Panting* *needs fan* *whew!*
And I'm happy that there's twice the beefcake this season what with Oliver/Green Arrow . The episode where he was on the desert island and had to run around shirtless - primo!
Considering all the pandering they do with the female characters (Lois - pole dance, anyone? Chloe - the Chloevage? Kara in the bikini?) - I think it's only fair to get equal beefcake to balance out the cheesecake.

Ehe, I don't care much for the sex scenes, but if it ups the ratings on Smallville, then yes, be my guest.

Thank you. Who wants to watch a show about unreliable, "perfect" characters anyway?
Not to sound like a pervert but... I don't mind seeing a sexy dressed/almost naked cast member...:p LOL!
