She just seemed to turn up one day and I don't get who she is or where she came from.

She's a Lex proxy they invented for Season 8. Yup, she just turned up in Episode 8.01.

She explained herself in that first episode. Basically, he left written instructions for her to assume control, and she just showed up during the search for Lex in the Arctic. After a brief power struggle with Lex's former right-hand guy, she's flying solo. She seems to have access to a large amount of information on the various players, including Clark, but she apparently does not know his secret.

I think she's Lionel's illegitamate daughter, and therefore Lex's sibling.

I like your speculation. Much better then that ''Tess is Lex in disguise'' speculation.

When you think about it, Tess has red hair, the same as Lex once had and for some reason, he trusted her more then anyone else. She has to have been related to him, maybe they were twins? Lionel just put Tess up for adoption for some reason, like he did with his illegimate son, Lucas. Then, a few years ago, Lex found Tess and saved her life in the process. He might even have fabricated an incident, to gain her trust.

Could it be, that ''Tess Mercer'' really is Tess Luthor?

That would be cool, but only if Lex returns for one final episode (the series finale) where he would see Clark save Tess and then kill her for being trusting Clark & being tainted by him.

Mercy Graves, began in the Superman animated show before she was added to the comics

Well she wasn't really in the comics (not much of her), but she was in the animated Superman show of the 90s. Mercy Graves is the assistant and hired hand of Lex Luthor. She did all the dirty work for him.

I liked it when Lex was an only child. It made him more tragic. Adding all these hidden siblings is unnecessary imo.

Lex would still have been an only child (since, he was raised without julian, Lucas or Tess). He grew up alone and became corrupted and evil. Then, suddenly, he discovers he has a brother or a sister and uses evil schemes to manipulate them and force them closer to him. Remember with Grant Gabriel, Lex pointed out he wanted a family, which is why he cloned Julian. Lex is still very tragic. He had a somewhat abusive childhood, then went evil and is totally unable to have a relationship, without the other one being dependant on him, fearing they'll leave him (remember Lana's fake pregnancy, which resultet in her marrying him). He created the Julian clone, Grant Gabriel, but when Grant revealed himself to Lionel, Lex had him killed, not wanting to share Grant with their father.

Mmhmm. That's right. I gave some (money) to get some (do I need to say it?) and got some (info). More power to the American Society! Oh, wait... Canadian Society!

Aw, scrup it! Fine, it's my own speculation based on my own research and a dookie-load worth of trivia and 'small' things that added up overtime to this conclusion... and if you don't like it, well.. go behead a chicken! Mwuhahaha!
