Clark worried about missing his soulmate was exactly what Lois had said and worried about in her discussion with Martha. It was a nice touch that they would both have the same worry and discuss it. I think it made Lois all warm inside as well, since she would remember speaking her same worry.

i forgot that lois had that discussion with martha. now that you've refreshed my memory i really liked that moment between clois in the barn. the look on her face as he was talking about 'missing his soulmate' has more meaning now. thanks.

Thanks for bringing This up. A couple of weeks ago, when I first watched that 'Extended' trailer for upcoming episodes, plus past ones, of Smallville, it was like my ears perked up when I heard Clark talk about possibly 'missing his soulmate'. I immediately remembered the conversation Lois had with Martha about that very same thing. She'd said that she would probably be so busy looking the other way, she'd miss him; so similar to what Clark said. That truly Was a very nice parallel. Lois' reaction to hearing him say that showed us that she remembered it, too.

ClarkMan and his writers need to step into realityland as opposed to fantasyland and forget the delusion of a 'soulmate.' He had much better immediate chemistry and rapport with Alicia than what the writers are going to proffer to him as a soulmate on Smallville. The reality is that the personality of the latter person would make her a multiply-divorced mate of several.

Notice that there is never any silly mention of soulmate in the previous movies of Superman or the original TV show. That is because the pop delusion of a soulmate had never popped into the heads of anyone involved and those were days when divorce rates were much below 50 %, unlike today.
