Can we give Clark a little credit here? I thought his behavior, his saves, his stance, his persona, his mojo would make any Superman proud. Clark is on his way so Supermandom. Guess all it took really was less Lana.

He was always Supermanly. With or without Lana.

I completely 100% agree. He seemed VERY Supermanly, I even felt Tom looked more chiseled, older, and mature. I thought it was because he lost the blue and red motif and was wearing big boy clothes... But even when he actually went and put that on later (doh!), he still held himself very confidently. His attitude and actual proactive approach is really awesome and long overdue.

I just wish he'd do a better job lying to Tess.

Ya know, Clark seems very Superman-ly to me this season. Its just the overall difference in the way he handles things, and people, and his life. There just seems to be so much more confidence and maturity in the character. I always love Clark, but I'm very pleased with how he's been written this season, and in this episode, for the most part. :)

Yeah, he's a stinky liar. And yes, I agree that he acts grown up this season. Like he's given up fighting his destiny, but rather is embracing it. He did seem a wee bit lonely to me. Wipes tear from eye.

Yeah, he's a stinky liar.

I think they do that on purpose though. To show that its not easy for Clark to have to lie about so many things. I think, in a way, it makes him more sympathetic, as you can see that this isn't something that comes easily for him.

But I actually liked that scene with Tess. I though it was well played by Clark.

He might be a stinky liar, but maybe not... he didn't initially tell Chloe about Jimmy's moment of weakness with Maxima, after all...and she bought it.

At least, at first. Once upon a time, Clark was good at secret-keeping, but I think he's losing resolve on that, now that so many people know his BIG secret.

I agree. When Tess brought out the crystal,he DIDN'T flinch. Beautifully played.

He had such a booming voice when he said..."CHLOE!!!" Reminded me of Chris when he was going to tell Margot/Lois his secret and also boomingly announces her name, only to weasel out and go back to his meek little Clark voice :)

When she wasn't looking he shoulda flicked her in the head to knock her out then take his crystal back..

did you mean SupermanLESS right?!!! because that is what I saw!

I was kind of surprised that he wasn't the one who has the crystal; instead of knocking her out he certainly is fast enough to grab the crystal, stash it someplace safe and be back without her knowing. He certainly had no problems with absconding with Kara's crystal. But I also think that he wouldn't want to make Tess more suspicious than she already is.

He is definitely on the path to Superman in my eyes.

Tom is playing Clark very different this season. Clark has grown up as so many have said but there is something else I just can't figure out. He isn't the same Clark but I like the change. He is very Supermanly but then I always thought he was a hero from the beginning. I'm thinking that Tom has more to say about how he portrays Clark. I bet he likes the wardrobe change. In the DVD commentaries the producers said that Tom looked older in suits so they kept him in casual clothes. Now that Clark is a manly 21, he can finally wear the suits which really look great on him. This season totally rocks!:)

So much happened afterwards I forgot the exact lines, but the line and delivery in the hospital room, after Chloe came in, just hit me as being 100% Superman. It was like vague, but confidence inspiring, delivered in a hard authoritative voice. I liked it.

Part of it is the hair too. He has finally begun to brush back those emo boy locks and go for a more adult style. I have to say that between the hair and the clothes he is to die for. Sigh!

And I wanted Maxima to play with his hair and maybe form a certain famous little curl...

i found him more supermanly in the last two episodes than in this one... he didnt seem to have much of a role in this episode other than other people's feelings for him and about him... was weird

I thought his behavior in Jimmy's hospital room was very supermanly. The way he was investigating Maxima, although she did get the upper hand in the Daily Planet (haha), exhibited supermanly qualities. Saving the day for Ollie was supermanly. Attending to the small details like feeding Shelby and letting Lois take his coffee were things Superman would do. There are other examples in Instinct, but I have no time to think right now.

see i saw all those things as very clark kently, but not very supermanly... but i guess thats just a perception of the phrase 'supermanly'

I agree that Clark was just being a nice guy more then anything.

When he spoke to Plastique that to me is Supermanly but when he spoke with Jimmy he just seemed like he was doing Jimmy a solid by not ratting him out to Chloe

I try to justify her being checked into Belle Reve by telling myself that Clark wanted her to get right in the head.

He saw what Belle Reve did for Alicia and so he must have thought it would help Plastique as well.

 well technically alicia only got a clean bill of health because her doctor had a crush on her

then we have the doctor who was bringing them out to fight in a secret fight club

then we have the immorality of the doctors involved in lex's electro shock

then we have the fact that loads of meteor freaks have been sent there and so far none have come back with apologies and hugs...

sorry Clark, but you really can be a BDA

The hospital scene and his last scene with Maxima was the best. Superman is like the big brother of the Justice League, always helping the League members out of trouble. He is not the leader, he may be the best super-hero but he is not the leader. He doesn't tell everyone, to shoot this or that, that's what the person in charge or the best equipped person in the League (Batman) does. Superman is just your average joe trying to do the best he can and that's why people look up to him.

Having Clark in expensive clothes at work does make him look more mature. Everytime he reverts back to the red and blue and plaid, he looks like a kid again

It's true, he is definitely being more like Superman than ever before. It's SO cool. Major geek-out moments in every episode thus far. I am a happy Superfan.
