what was the necklace Clark was holding. It is slipping my mind and driving me nuts right now!

Lexgirl33

It was Lana's necklace

JEWCY

the one from season 1 that was infused with kryptonite?

Lexgirl33
10-09-2008, 06:21 PM
Well the original was made from kryptonite. Clark used it to destroy his ship, which in the process neutralized it.

Actually he distroyed his ship using the octagonal disc made out of kryptonite.

Nice little callback.

Has anyone noticed that, even though Lana is gone, she's been mentioned in every episode of the season?

And not 1 mention of where Kara is..It's like Clark just forgot all about her..

You know with the theme of this episodes being soulmates, I thought at first that was the soulmate bracelet and even 'I' got excited, lol.

Lex has been too. Regardless that they are gone we can't just up root them like they never existed or we loose continuity. The were the original cast members for the last 7 yrs.

I'm so glad they brought back the necklace! Yay! I'd be willing to bet he will finally return it to Lana whenever he sees her again!

wasn't interested in the necklace..just like shelby....i swear he looked like "oh brother...not again...get over her already...'''

I gotta say we had some nice continuity with Dr. Groll, the Fever letter, and Lana's necklace.

We even had a nice Superman/Superman II reference with those rings surrounding the crystal that looked like the rings surrounding Zod, Ursa & Non.

The only problem is that Gabe's existence was completely ignored. That was somewhat disappointing.

Karafan1
10-09-2008, 08:29 PM
That was surprising when Chloe asked Clark to walk her down the isle. I was thinking..What about her dad?? Shouldn't he be doing that??

i Agree the continuity was an element the show was sorely lacking and i like how they are starting to slowly connect the pieces whether it be abt even the smallest of things.

But so easily referenced last year in the AU when Chloe was getting married.

He's still alive, so it was definitely strange that she ask Clark to give him away.

I agree. I loved the rings around the crystal and Dr. Groll's return was a pleasent surprise. I even enjoyed the fever letter. So yes- good continuity!!!:)

he only had one or two lines of dialogue and then wasn't back on. Something is going on with him-they wouldn't bring him out of 2 years of hiding for 20 seconds.

I do like where this is going with this whole "X" mystery and continuity.

The necklace was purged when shapeshifting girl tied it around Clark's neck and burried him in the basement, expecting him to die. The ship purged it, Clark determined that the ship was trying to protect itself and then made the decision to destroy it with the Kryptonite disk.

I thought he ran away from Lex in Fallout. Maybe Lex found him & forced him to rejoin his company. Dr. Bauer replaced him (seen in Subterranean) & looked similar to him with similar glasses. I wonder if Bauer still works for Lex in offscreenville.

Tess said she had to lure him out of hiding, so I don't think he had been working for Lex. :)

I believe you're right about him running away in "Fallout." I believe he also had appeared in 1-2 episodes before that.

IA about the nice nods to continuity in this episode. We even had Ollie trying to reconnect with Tess, even though he wasn't in the episode. And Clark and Chloe continuing a conversation from the last episode.

Not that he was an important character but i was pleasantly surprised to see him back. And they even mentioned that he hid from Lex.The verdict about PS3 is still out there but we have to applaud their efforts to have some continuity in the show.Dr Grohl,Lana's necklace and the fever letter were 3 mentions of past seasons in a single episode.I don't remember that ever happening with Almiles

Did anyone notice that the guy Maxima killed in the first scene is the same guy who played Hourglass? Funny, he went to be a 'Freak of the Week' in season 1 (who happened to die) in season 1 to become 'Victim No. 1 in season 8.

xrayvision
10-11-2008, 11:49 AM
I thought the guy looked like a slightly younger version of Bob Rickman, but it's not the same actor. Do you mean he was in the episode Hourglass because I don't remember a character named Hourglass.

I think they meant the Younger version of the guy from the nursing home that kept on falling into the lake and going back on his killing spree.

Harry Volk/Bolston? I'm pretty sure it wasn't him. I checked tv.com. But then again, I've seen various omissions from there. But they show an actor and said "man in the street" and the actor wasn't the same one who played young Harry in Hourglass.

Dr Groll: who? I know the guy looks familiar but I can't remember where he's from. Somebody please help.

Later: sorry, I hadn't read p. 2 of the thread. I am having a hard time remembering what Dr. Grohl did in "Arrow" and "Fallout". More info anyone?

He was working for Lex on Brainiac's power source and how it could be used by Lex. He studied it and was afraid of what it would do to humanity.

He was the scientist/dr. that Lana blackmailed in the elevator when Lex/Lionel tested Lana's loyalty.

Hey, thanks! Now I remember and I don't have to go back and review the episodes! I remember him being a rabbity guy in the elevator, and Lana scared the crap out of him. Wasn't it right after that that Lionel congratulated her on becoming a Luthor?

xrayvision

Lionel actually sat down in the mansion with Lex at the end of the episode and talked about Lana's performance.

the return of dr groll and the necklace are nice hints back, but i thought the fever letter was forced continuity, not natural

Yes. I brought that up as well on another thread. How hard would it have been for Chloe to say, "Seeing as my dad is in a full-body cast recovering from a motorcycle accident, could you walk me down the aisle, Clark?"

:rotfl:

I can't stop laughing at the thought of Clark having Lana mementos strewn across his house and barn loft so that he can always be reminded to be miserable in case he forgets and enjoys a moment of happiness. Remember the framed photo of equestrian-Lana on the tool table next to the tractor in the barn? I am crying laughing just typing this.

But I agree, it's odd that she hasn't even been mentioned yet. :\

I agree with everything you said, xrayvision! I thought I was the only one who saw those rings around the crystal and thought of the movies!

And yeah, this was nice continuity (and we even got Shelby! and he got fed!).
So does this mean that it was AlandMiles all these years blocking the good continuity?

Cause once they left......

The necklace was shown again in season 6, Trespass, when Lana stayed at the farm. She found it inside one of Clark's drawers. So I guess we can't blame AlMiles for this one.

I kinda meant overall better continuity, not just the necklace stuff. I mean, we just seem to have better continuity (Gabe Sullivan notwithstanding) ever since AlandMiles left. That's the way it seems to me, anyway.

I understand if others disagree.
