Always liked that dog. Glad to see him back...other than the most recent Superman comics of course.
I felt bad for him though. Who do you think has to bare the full brunt of Clana angst? It's only him and Clark. When Clark was looking at Lana's necklace, he must have been liked "God, not this again!" Poor dog.

I wish they would use Shelby more often during the season. It really bothers me when the dog just disappears for a bunch of eps.
<G> All I could think about during that scene was that someone involved with the show was reading the lame ass "Where is Shelby posts". *snerks* The scene was lame, but grin worthy.

Yea its nice when we do get to see the dog more, sucks since season 5 they havent been really consistant with having the dog on the show. They could have easily many times on the farm have a sound effect of dog barking so we know he is running around the farm somewhere and all that. As for the dog it self at first he didnt look different to me but looking back now the hair was a bit more fluffer and all that, like craig maybe they couldnt get bud the dog back or he died and they had to replace him. Did any one look in the credit list i know in the past when the dog has appeared they gave dog credit in the end credits.

I would have. I almost died laughing just at the original scene! you know the new PTB are reading this message board and thinking we are crazy, but threw us a bone anyways.
Though, I think it would have been funnier if Clark had left without feeding Shelby, and the scene would have just ended with Shelby looking longingly at his can of dog food. Not that I want shelby to starve or anything, I just think it would have been funny.

Say it ain't so, Craig. :(
I'm still hoping it was simply a case of creative differences between Bud and PS3. And, much as I love Bud, his offscreen behavior was always tabloid-fodder, so that can't have helped the situation.
Anyway, I thought that new Shelby gave a decent performance, but he lacked that certain je ne sais quoi that marked the Shelby I remember.

It was really nice to see Shelby. But when he appeared, I think the first thing I thought of was that - at least for this week - that there wouldn't be the "Where is Shelby this week" question. But I'm sure we'll get back to it next week.

New Shelby was definitely very cute but OriginalRecipeShelby takes the turkey dinner (which he did). Looking back though, he was definitely an older dog; recently he was sporting a gray muzzle. I'd like to think that instead of pushing up daisies he has simply taken a well earned retirement.

Man, those were not drawn well. Either Superboy's torso is way out of proportion or he has stumpy legs and arms.
This does beg the question, though. Just where does Superman keep his wallet? And who knocked up Krypto anyway if he's all bummed about becoming a she?
Shelby looked like he wished he could be in Washington with Martha. Of course, when she was around he got turkey. With just Clark all he gets is canned food.

It was great to see Shelby again. I guess Clark is still living on the farm even though he works in Metropolis now. Lois thinks he flies in every day, which I suppose isn't completely inconceivable--maybe she assumes he uses his mom's flyer miles or something. (I never can tell exactly how far Metropolis is supposed to be from Smallville. I think they've said different things at different times, but that's DC comics for you!) It would make more sense for people who don't know about Clark's superspeed if he got an apartment in Metropolis. J'onn could stay at the farm & feed Shelby.

Where did you find that? No wonder there was a lawsuit about the Superboy comics! Let's not confuse Shelby with Krypto--even though Shelby's introductory episode was entitled "Krypto", they are different dogs!

Getting a new dog to play Shelby isn't quite as bad as getting a new actor to play Jimmy Olson like they did on Lois & Clark. True, the second Jimmy fit the character better, but you can't get a new person to play a main character & act like nothing happened!

Superman has been treating Krypto a lot better in the comics recently. He even saves the day in the most recent comic.
Krypto's appearance always changed in the comics so this works.

1. Shelby definitely needs a bath and trim. He was so shaggy it wasn't even funny. Frankly, it looks bad that Clark doesn't take better care of his dog (e.g., proper grooming.)
2. Do you think the long hair is concealing the fact that the dog who plays Shelby really is a b*tch? (No insult intended).

To be fair in most likelihood is more than one dog whether male or female that plays Shelby whenever is required and the one they made available for the show was not that well groomed at the moment, it happens especially in shows like this, heck even in movies is imposible to control and micromanage every situation, this nitpicking to be honest I consider useless...

There's just one thing though: Clark fed him right? But then left the doors closed and the house locked or whatever, right? Well, how's Shelby supposed to get back outside to *ahem* 'do his business'?
