Well, I need to watch it again to be completely fair, but I am thinking it was one of the best so far this season.
Yes, there was some cheesiness in it, and some rushed scenes, but IMO, they did a great representation of Maxima possible on live TV.

I'm not sure what to rate it yet. Jimmy was kind of annnoying in this episode, and there was a bit of cheesiness; but the rest was really good.
I'm thinking maybe 7.5-8/10?

Good episode. Mostly dedicated to character development. Again, I like the way the Lois and Clark relationship is going and the way they are fleshing out the Chloe story. Surprisingly, the writers were able to advance the Kryptonian story line and wove it through the main Maxima plot. Tess Mercer is a good addition. A complicated character with very different motivations than Lex. Looks like Lex is back, at least to communicate with us by computer if not face to face. Give the show an 8. I thought last season was very good, but there is a qualitative improvement in the writing, plotting and acting this year. Let's go for season 9!

This was a really funny episode. Maxima must of been the jealous type to nearly kill Lois. Speaking of which the spark between her and Clark seems to be growing. I love the reference to seasons past with Chloe's love letter to Clark. As for miss Mercer I'm starting to get a kick out of her, she's like Lex and in many ways she isn't. I'm bothored by who took the crystal. At first I thought Lex since the letter sent said she wasn't ready, then I thought Oliver because he learned the full truth behind Clark. All in all things look good and the next episode looks creepy.

It was alright. It definitely had some good moments in there, like more pro-active Clark. Of course his Lana whining is still around. Hopefully that'll eventually disappate but I wouldn't count on it. Pretty cool confrontation with Maxima too and hey, the return of Shelby! I can only imagine that poor dog was thinking "God, not again!" when Clark was looking at Lana's necklace. That dog has to take the full brunt of Clana whining.
Jimmy the Weasel was back with his bowling shirts. Just get over the Clark thing already, will ya?! And hey...Clark is walking Chloe down the isle. Perfect for the show although shouldn't...I don't know, her FATHER be the one to do that?!
Not great tonight but not bad. The ending with Lex's message was very cool.

Not rocket science, but a fun time.
Thought it was a pretty good episode 10/10.
Loved Maxima, loved the mystery behind where the crystal went, loved the Clark/Lois interactions and enjoyed Clark's worry about Chloe. Didn't care for Jimmy cheating though - Maxima super attraction or not......

Good episode! Probably the best one so far this season in my opinion. I give it a 9, maybe even a 10. I really enjoyed this episode all the way through. I think the writers really listened to the fans for this one. We got to see Shelby hehe!
I thought Maxima was awesome. Loved the entire story of the episode. It's like it had a little bit of everything that we love in Smallville. They packed a lot into the episode, yet it didn't seem rushed.
I like how they got into the relationships and triangles with everyone. I liked how they brought back the letter and addressed the relationship between Clark and Chloe. Being a Chlarker, I'm kinda disappointed that she says she is moving on to Jimmy. You could even see the disappointment in Clark's face when she said that. She will always have feelings for him, but right now it looks like the romantic relationship will not happen between them.
There were a lot of great visual effects in this episode. I never get tired of the super speed effect, and the reaction shot when people realize Clark has just vanished haha.
There was a lot of suspense in this episode as well. Even though I knew Lois and Jimmy would have to survive, I was genuinely concerned when they got into trouble with Maxima.
Then of course there is the crystal. Tess had it but then it got stolen? Did it really get stolen or did she just say that? I was a little confused when she had it on her computer at the end. I loved the interaction between Tess and Clark when Clark saw that she was holding the crystal. Tess did a great job overall in this episode. I liked her scenes with Maxima and Chloe as well.
Oh and how about the reaction from Lois when she caught Smallvile kissing Maxima in the elevator? I think she is starting to have feelings for him! It was interesting how Maxima said that there was a strong connection between the 2. And then at the end when Clark asked Lois what she said, she just kinda brushed it off. And then Clark says she can move in with him at the barn. I think he is starting to like her too!
Overall great episode!

I am absolutely loving the season so far. Maybe Miller and Gough leaving was a good thing for the series b/c the show is clicking on all cylinders right now.
I'll give this episode an 8 out of 10. It was a fun episode, and we got some huge storyline advancement between Lois and Clark. I really hope this isn't their last season b/c I'm interested to see how they play this.

Clark always looks disappointed but he never does anything about it. Despite the fact that Chloe is better than both Lana and Lois combined.

Although I haven't given other episodes this season the highest ratings, I think that "Instinct" definitely deserves a '10'. I thought there were some things that could have been handled just a little better, but I really liked a lot of the interaction between the characters (especially between Clark and Lois) and thought that bringing Chloe's speech from "Fever" was an excellent touch. I also really found myself rooting for Chloe and Jimmy, which means that the writers more than succeeded.
Overall, a great episode!

I didn't think I was really going to like this one, but I thought it was great. Loved the Chlark interactions. Maxima was cheesy, but it sounds like that's the way she is in the comics too, so I guess I can't really complain. Clark worked independently, and was smart. The only thing that could have made it better was if Clark would have told Maxima why he was banishing her from Earth...that it wasnt' just because she wasn't his soul mate...it was because she was killing people, and not just accidentally. I would have really like it if Clark had tried to get her to change. And then, when she refused, he could have told her that there can be no place in his life for someone who is willing to kill, and that he can't let her stay on earth and hurt anyone else. That woudl have been great. But, that was the only think I wished for. Everything else was pretty cool. I liked that they brought up Lana a liittle, and that he misses her, but that he is starting to move on. I'm glad they're showing a progression there. And Lois was great when she freaked out on Clark for catching him in the elevator. Hilarious. And Clark was really in this one!!!!!!
There was awhile when Tess said something tha tmade me think thatLex could have been banished to the PZ, and that's where he went. I could see Jorel doing that to anyone who tried to control his son. I was thinking that would be a cool storyline, because if that's where Kara is, then maybe when Kara gets out, Lex could get out too (and remain hidden, of course, but still). But then at the end, when the crystal was stolen and someone named x took it, I was pretty excited!! I think they did a great job with making this into a really interesting episode! Good work, PS3!!!!

I loved this episode. It had everything! Clark using his powers to do everyday things, it was great. He fed Shelby. Too cute.
Lois was sooo funny! Especially when she explained endrophins to Clark. lol
She was so funny when she was obviously mad Clark was kissing Maxima in the elevator.
Lois and Clark investigated, a lot!
This episode had Chloe, even Jimmy, and and Tess. I completely loved it. It's the best episode of Smallville in years. Next week looks pretty good too.
And I think Lex took the crystal and emailed Tess. I can't wait until he comes back for an episode or 2.

Maybe I need to watch it again. :\
idk, is it just me or did this episode seem disjointed? :(
It just didn't seem to flow,....
I find it interesting that the main theme seemed to be alluding to Clark's need, or INSTINCT, to have a love-life but it hardly showed us anything..... Everything was just told to us. There was no emotion shown by any of the characters for anyone. It seemed like they all were just reading off lines but not feeling them. :\
It made them all look like bad actors, and we know that's not the case. :(
Actually the best acting tonight was that businessman in the beginning, and Cassidy(Tess). I don't know what Maxima is supposed to be like but I assume CHarlotte Sullivan(Maxima) performed well also.:)
Then the title INSTINCT seems to have referred to many things here:
. the obvious mating instinct
. the gut instinct you feel about someone and their motives (shown by Tess and by Jimmy)
. questioning or accepting your instincts (as Lois did about CLark, and as CLark did about Lana (observing the necklace), Chloe(her Brainiac infection, and failure to see her feelings), and Lois(?)
. fighting or denying your instincts?
(and Chloe being all "pal see - wow see" with Clark about the letter didn't sit right either. :\)

Another great episode. I didn't know anything about Maxima, so I wasn't sure if this episode would be any good. A lot of shows from season's past have these filler episodes that don't really amount to much, but so far this season has really been good, in my opinion. I know the Lana thing just won't go away for some people, but I think they're trying to make it look like she just vanished from the earth, kinda like how they're using Lex with the e-mail at the end. They are DEFINITELY pushing the Clark/Lois angle and next week looks like we'll really see the real deal, if the promos are an indicator. I give this episode a 9. Keep up the great work!

This was personally my favorite episode so far of the season. Good effects. It looks as if they corrected the Maxima throwing the car effect because it looked so much better. I love the Clark/Lois interaction!! I also enjoyed SHIRTLESS Tom, what can I say I am shallow! ;)
Maixma was HOT and I thought she was gonna be horrible (as an actress) from a few clips we got from the commercial but she was perfect!! I loved her outfit! Great actress and very beatufiul.
I loved the call back to the past with the letter from Chloe to Clark! :)
My fav episode so far! Next week looks GOOD!

This is an episode that started off really bad, but seemed to get better as it went along. I do have to mention that it had a lot of lousy dialogue throughout though. That didn't get better.
As first I thought the actress that played Maxima was pretty awful, but she actually came to life around TW. I'm sure he's an easy guy to have chemistry with. And I liked her stomping off after Lois, and her final empassioned speech made me feel sorry for her. Imagine finding your perfect mate, and not being able to have him. I felt bad for her. I don't understand where she went though...
I wasn't so much loving more of Lois lecturing Clark on being a reporter, but she absolutely cracked me up when she found Clark and Maxima in the elevator, and I thought ED did a really nice job of showing how it was freaking Lois out that she was actually upset. Her confrontation with Maxima was well handled, and I really liked the Clois barn scene a lot. ED brought a lot of vulnerability to that scene.
I was mostly pleased with Clark, and his ability to investigate, and his proactiveness. I don't like how they came up with another way for Chloe to just have all the answers, nor did I like Chloe urging Clark to save people other then herself. That rubbed me wrong. But aside from that, I thought Clark is still progressing nicely, and I love how TW is playing him. He is clearly still smarting from the Clana breakup, but he isn't moping or paralyzed. He's getting on with life.
The Clark/Tess scene was a winner. So was the Tess/Chloe scene.
Personally, I don't think they should've brought the Fever letter back, and this episode is precisely why. Because I knew they were going to use it for closure, and it seems to me to be a particularly harsh way to do that for Chlarkers. But I did think they handled it in a way to show the genuine love and regard Clark and Chloe have for each other, but a romance between them is not in the cards.
One big sucking hole in this episode for me was Jimmy, and the Chimmy. Both utterly awful, and unbelievable.
Overall, I gave it an 8.

If you watch the episode again, Chloe explains to Clark how she would have come to earth, via a hyperspace window in something like a bracelet.
I have to say, loved it! Dr. Groll, Shelby, Lois denying vehemently and Maxima telling her exactly who Lois is in Clark's life, and who Clark is: the last son of Krypton, and Lana's necklace, and the fever letter, and Tess and Chloe but most of all Lois and Clark together!

This was a great episode... a lot better than last weeks.....better plot line too!
Things I liked:
-Clois...I'm loving the sparks! Awsome interaction!
-Maxima, she was an interesting villan.
-Chloe's moving on....maybe...
-Lex is back!!!! right? I'm liking the whole "man behind the curtain" deal.....
-And of course shirtless TOM....guys can't complain though they got a lil eye candy with Maxima too.
Things I hated:
-JIMMY....What a lil b****, gosh he got on my nerves...he's too much of a whimp...Chloe deserves someone with a back bone!
-THE RETURN OF THE NECKLES......I almost had to look away!!! and ofcourse with the neckles came the mention of the "L" word.....
Next weeks looks good... it had a SAW vibe to it.....

liked the episode but hate the way they handle the fever letter.....
i totally agree ! they used it as a metaphor just like i said they would ! the episode was ok. but where is the supposed regret or clark possibly thinking things over.it was in the spoilers thread about the letter and it ight make clark reconsider some things . well he certainly didn't have any remorse or regret about chloe, and he did not show any remorse about not giving her a chance . im sorry thats bull or they better tell tom to stop those stupid faces that were made through out the whole show everytime chloe had someone else . he even admitted in the past about thinking of being with her if they atelast would have had him say well chloe it was my loss or anything to that nature but no they give us lies he tells chloe he must have known the whole time how she felt ! then he tells lois that he never knew how much chloe loved him and what if his love is in front of him and he don't see it ! that wa meant as lois not chloe they think we are dumb! there was no regret from clark and that is fake !
he showed interest in zod till chloe put a lid on it when she introduced clark as a friend while giving clark buig wide eyes. see chloe knew then he would only take her as a rebound so clark does not deserve her anyway. but jimmy does not deserve chloe ! everytime he is unhappy with her he runs to other women first kara and now maxima , he had a chance to resist but gave in. well there just making an excuse now . and what was that dam look clark gave at the hospital before he swooped out? yeah buddy get one last look because you blew it ! but jimmy is no better !
i will give tom wellings chest a big 10 ! he was hot !
lois with the endorphine conversation and her ripping the paper out of clarks hands were funny it was like wow big endorphine boost from sex give me that file back lol ! that was funny but the elevator scene where lois gets all loud with clark was too much and too much imo . but i did like clois better this episode. she wasn't as snotty or pushy but the elevator scene i did not like lois's reaction it was annoying. it was over dramatic . she could have hid it better i don't know it was immature in my opinion . it'slike she has not shown any of these feelings but she screamed them loud and clear like a screaming banshee lol !
oh did i mention i liked lois in this episode she was cute just not big on the yelling at the elevator.

Not too bad. The actress playing Maxima is pretty hot. However, the portrayal was slightly off from what I remember from the comics. And, for a show that kids might watch, it started to delve into soft-core territory with the make out scene on the desk and elevator. Not like the show hasn't pushed that boundary before but still. I hope she comes back again and her character is fleshed out more.
I really hope that with the "Lois and Clark" direction the show is taking (YAY!) that the writers don't lose steam and have a buncha "filler" episodes that are distracting from the main storyline (aka what I thought most of what *cough* Season 7 *cough* was, just filler) Especially if this is the shows last season.

I don't know this definatly IMO was the worst episode of this season so far. It wasn't horrible but it definatly wasn't great, I'd give it an average at best. But anyways, I didn't think the actress who played Maxima really did much for me, the plotline was ridiculously predictable and... what else was there besides a weak mention of the fever letter and some extreme Clois pushing was there? I think they should have handled the letter better or not at all and the fiery Tess that I saw last week seemed lost in a stupid plot for this episode. At least they gave us a cliffie ending with X, but I have to say they didn't really build up the suspense like other cliffhangers. Anyways, that's my little rant. Thoughts?

Maxima's teleportation to earth scene was cool. I like how she was standing next to a bunch of motorcycles, somehow it suits her. But I was really hoping for a battle between her and Clark and a glimpse of Almerac, neither of which were seen. I think Charlotte Sullivan did a fantastic job, but the writers could have made a better episode for Maxima, considering she's a popular superman villain from the comics and not just another freak of the week. Other than that, it was a really good episode.

Well tonights episode i thought was pretty good. The story was good and the acting i thought was very well. The actress who played maxima was pretty good. Her story was very good and i glad they left it open for her to return again. Though i was a bit disapointed we never got to see her home planet.
Also i wonder if clark's signal went to any other location in the universe besides maxima's world? I loved the hints to clark and lois's feelings for each other. Also i loved the return of the fever letter and thought it was great to see the actual letter again and its outcome with jimmy and clark knowing about it. Though i wonder how it got in the talon there though since lana was the last one with it. I liked that jimmy was worried about chloe's feelings for clark and what is going to happen now with it known to jimmy and clark. Also nice we now see clark wondering about other loves.
It was nice to see shelby at the farm again, and i loved the opening scene where he almost forgot to feed him. Also the way maxima got to earth was interesting some sorta of transporter braclet was neat, though i remember seeing this short trailer for the episode and it showed that it was a portal i guess they decided to go a different way and the trailers had different fx effects on it. Also the developlying story with brainiac and chloe is getting interesting and looks like brainiac knows more then just kryptonian history and all that. The crystal subplot was interesting and i wonder who really took the crystal, was/is the mysterious X LEX???? Hopefully we find out soon.

I gave the episode a 1. I'll be honest, it was one of my least favorite episodes...EVER!!!!
Here's what I liked:
1) Clark seemed jealous of Jimmy
2) I give props to all the people who worked hard on the episode. IE: Special Effects and such.
Okay, that's it. Moving on.
Here's what I hated....loathed....despised...detested...abhorred ....well you get the idea. I've never watched any episode of any show...ever and had such an angry reaction. I hated everything about this episode. I think it's wonderful that others loved it. I, on the other hand, did not. So, don't attack me for my opinion. But here it is:
1) THE COMPLETE AND UTTER CRAPPING ON OF THE CHLARK LETTER. One of the best moments of Chloe and Clark taken and spit on, and thrown away. Heck, I'd rather see more Clana than this crap. Clark at the end of the episode still can't see that him and Chloe might have something. Instead, the writers move the Fever Letter to LOIS!!!!! They actually used CHLOE's words to represent Lois. And how Clark is blind to Lois now. So, basically Chloe's words mean nothing. It was a jump the shark, contrived moment come up with by the writers to dismiss Chlark and forever move on to Clois. GAG. If I wanted to watch the Lois and Clark show, I'd watch it. But I don't.
This just ticked me off to no end. I mean I'm actually angry. My sister wanted to throw tomatoes at the screen. And she probably would have if we had some. I would be surprised if other Chloe and Clark fans aren't angry...livid about this. I mean they just dismissed a build up of 7+seasons in an instant.
2) CHIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!: GAG!!!! I mean, seriously? Does anyone really buy that Chloe's in love with this guy? He's dimwitted and clearly could become a cheater. He did the same thing with Kara. And we all know that Noir was a reflection of his inner thoughts. Secret preferences. So, he thinks of Chloe as 3rd to Lana and Lois. But he knows he can't get them? I just can't stand them together.
3) Maxima: I can't stand temptress type characters who practically wear nothing and have no deep characterization. I felt the actress was objectified . And the make out scenes at the Daily Planet? Classless.
4) All of the Lois and Clark anvils. I mean come on! Does Lois have to anvil her own name constantly?
5) They've transferred the Clana loft scenes to Lois and Clark. Enough said.
6) I felt the entire episode was a slap in the face to Chlark fans. They were practically telling them that they don't care about them. They don't seem to want them as viewers. They're hoping they'll bring in new viewers who like Superman, Lois and Clark, etc...Well having watched this show the entire time (angrily at many times), I feel this was uncalled for. To take something (the fever letter) that meant something to a lot of fans and to completely dismiss it was rude! Poor Allison Mack. I can't imagine how she's treated by the producers and writers of this show. Because that was uncalled for writing. And I don't care if you hate Chlark, looking at it objectively, the way they handled it was pretty low. And they did it on purpose. I'm sure some Lois and Clark fans will gloat that Clark's moving forward with Lois. But using Chloe's words, the fever letter, to represent Lois's feelings now? LOW!!!!!! LOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and SUPER LOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clark didn't even react. WHY? Because they wrote it that way. The worst, most contrived piece of crap episode I have ever seen. I don't know if I can watch Smallville anymore. This may have ruined it for me for good. And I'm sure some of the fans who disagree with me will cheer if I do go. One less Chlark fan to deal with on these boards, right? A lot of them have already left before me. And more will I'm sure. And where have the Clana's gone? I miss them. :) Soon it will only be the Clois's. Because that's clearly what's taking over the series.
Well anyway, my angry rant is over. But again. WHY????? WHY would they take such an iconic moment on the series and crap all over it? Okay, I guess my rant wasn't over. I'm still seething, letting it all out in this post. I'll go listen to my copy of Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson. My favorite song to listen to when I'm peeved.
Oh yeah, one more thing. Clark wore that stupid shirt again. I had really hoped they were going in a new direction with his wardrobe. I mean for goodness sake, Tom Welling is a 30 year old man. That outfit looks absurd on someone of his age. He needs to wear more mature clothing.
Oh and another thing. Clark asks Lois to move in with him? She must be pretty dimwitted in the future to not figure out that he's Superman. But anyway, why doesn't he ever ask Chloe to move in since she's family apparently? I mean, he is giving her away now, even though she still has a father. I mean I haven't heard of Gabe's death. Has anyone else? So what? Now Clark is Chloe's father figure? Maybe George Michael will sing at Chloe's reception when Chloe and Clark dance. And Clark will sing along "I will be your father figure." NOTHING....I repeat NOTHING would surprise me on this show anymore. That is unless, they actually did something positive with Chloe.

Wow what a post, sorry you didnt like the episode. as for the character of maxima from what i hear in the comics she is a pretty sluttly type of character and they decided to keep that a thing here in smallville. I am a clark/chloe fan but even i know a full blown relationship was never going to happen. We had chances in season 2 and 6 and it got totally shot down so i didnt see it as a slap in the face of chlark fans.

Why does everyone keep saying that they feel sorry for Allison? How many interviews has she used the phase "cutting the apron strings"from Clark? Wanting to grow into her OWN as Chloe? Wanting to spread her wings and have her character to have independance,etc? I wouldn't be surprised if this was already stated in her new contract with PS3.

10/10
It was a great episode. They fully delivered on the promises from the trailer (unlike "Toxic" which was still fun filler). Clark and Maxima's makeout scenes were hot. In addition I felt that, although completely driven by primal instincts... Maxima seemed intelligent, alien, strong and just very cool. LOL! I didn't just dismiss her. She reminded me a bit of Kara when Kara went after the blue crystal from her spaceship. There's this sexy, confident, self-possession they both have.
Anyways... Lois and Clark was so much fun! There was the usual workplace fun. But also... Lois getting angry with Clark while saying she's not angry. That's one of my favorite Lois Lane... things. So it was fun to see that between SV Lois and Clark.
I was glad to see Chloe and Jimmy deal with some of the issues between them. Heck I was happy to see Chloe and Jimmy in an episode together. Aaron did a fantastic job with his really emotional scenes.
Chlark. Oh my goodness. I haven't been on pins and needles like that since Season 1 when they were at the spring formal together. LOL! I really wish Clark had read the whole letter. Clark reading the fever letter electrifies me. I loved everything Chloe said in that scene. I also like how Clark is... disturbed that he could miss the fact that Chloe was THAT in love with him.
I ate up the Chloe/Tess face off scene. Chloe's smile was chilling. And Tess kind of gave Chloe an appraising look near the end of the episode (checked Chloe out). There was this moment when Clark suggested that he knew how to destroy Brainiac... where Chloe looked alarmed. LOL! Also the look on Chloe's face when she thought Tess had gotten someone else to hack into the Kryptonian computer - someone "better." Again... a little creepy. Great job Allison.
I love that Clark hasn't abandoned Chloe to Brainiac. I don't love that Clark has forgotten that Kara exists.
8/10 Loved Maxima, Loved Clois, Loved Chlark. I'm really liking Tess. I miss the light hearted, happy go lucky Jimmy though.

It was over all a cool episode. Good drama, some cheese as earlier stated, but pretty damn good. I liked the spinning ovals around the crystal at the begining. That was total kryptonian'esk from the original movies. Loved it. Maxima was pretty hot, and I really want to kiss her is spite of it being the last kiss i would ever experience. Also, I loved the ending cliff hanger, way to get back into the storyline! I give it a overwhelming 8 out of 10
I feel that PS3 are trying really hard. Really, really hard. And it shows. I don't know, since the very first episode of this season, I feel that they want so much to put things in place, to tell as that everything is better, that, yes, Clark is... moving... forward... There will be changes, the relationships are not stale any longer. See, we're working on continuity too. Yeah. But... where is the magic? The warmth this show used to have, the authenticity in the relationships? I mean, showing us skin episode after episode is not enough. Tess and kickboxing? Come on! Anyway, 6/10 for me. I wish this show would stir away from 'love me, love me not' thing. It's getting old and tired.

I do agree with Autumn on 1 thing. I just don't see how Chloe is really in love with Jimmy. It looks like she might have a little crush on Davis and if she was really in love with Jimmy she wouldn't have a crush on Davis..

I would be surprised if other Chloe and Clark fans aren't angry...livid about this.
Oh, I'm there too and I know I'm not alone.
It's personally insulting and that's pretty hard to accomplish with a comic book based tv show, but there you go. Mission accomplished.
Also, I am amazed how badly Clois is being promoted. So after 4 years of knowing each other and even Lois admiting that they are barely friends, they are supposed to get together someday because of some unknown mystical bond that they currently are completely unaware of (per Maxima) So it really is only because they have the right names? Or maybe a wizard will make them do it.
How about a little show and a lot less tell? Build up the storyline, don't just drop it out of no where. Support what you are saying and please, please writers, actually watch the show. If you did, you might remember that Clark Kent was actually a big sports guy. Loved Sharks football team, played basketball all the time with Pete, was the starting quarterback his senior year, tickets to baseball games with his dad, almost went to college on a football scholarship.
The Tess stuff was great and Maxima was fine, but that left an awful lot of craptastic stuff in between.

Weak 5. To me, the only good things were the 2 Tess/Chloe scenes and seeing the farm again.

Again this episode was ok but nothing spectacular. It's been the same with every episode this season. None of them have flat out sucked but none of them have been amazing either. Over all the episode played alright. Maxima felt a bit like a Poison Ivy rip off to me. The whole deadly kiss thing along with the green get up she put on. Again I still feel Chloe getting this new ability isn't necessary. It was enough that she could heal people.
I feel they are rushing Clark's career at the Daily Planet. I mean Perry White isn't even on the show yet and he was supposed to be a senior reporter before taking over at the Daily Planet. True this show has taken many liberties with the original story so I guess you could let that one slide. But they should bring in Perry soon because he was supposed to be there before Clark. Clark getting hired there and all of that has just been way too rushed. They should have slowly been building that up since season 5 instead of just having him sitting around on the farm feeling sorry for himself. There is no way someone in this day and age can get involved in journalism so quickly. All the respectable newspapers won't even hire you without a college degree which Clark didn't get. Also the love connection between Clark and Lois is moving along kinda oddly. She was supposed to fall for Superman first. Again I know the show is taking things a different way but something about the connection they are showing doesn't feel right. I can't put my finger on it exactly. Maybe I'm just too used to the original story. Also another issue I have, and this is old news but it's always bugged me, is how Clark speeds into a middle of a room filled with people and then speeds out of the room without a single person taking notice. I think I would notice if a guy dissapears in the blink of an eye and breeze of wind zips away from where he was standing.
A few unlikely survivals in this episode. From what was mentioned of the stats of Maxima's other victims Jimmy should not have been able to survive even if he did get to a hospital quickly. Also there is no way Lois would have survived Maxima flipping her car. That car flew what looked like 20 feet into the air and crashed upside down. At the least Lois should have been severely injured from a fall that high onto the roof. It's pretty idiotic to expect us to believe that she could still stand let alone be ready for a fight. Thats just picky stuff but still something the people behind the show should have considered. Even in science fiction and comic territory you still need to ground a few things in reality.
Again I still can't stand Tess most of the time. I can at least put up with her now though. She has backed away slightly from her Lex impressions but she still does them often. It just feels like she watched Michael Rosenbaum's performance repeatedly and then sat in front of a mirror trying to rip off his expressions. She is still a cheap knock off of him but I'm willing to give her a chance to get more comftorable in the role to make it her own. In the last two episodes she has at least done a few things different from Lex. Still though more often then not she is just a reminder of how good of an actor Rosenbaum was on the show. I still would like nothing more then for Lex to come back in the last episode and kill her off. Unless they do something really unique with her character and have her end up siding against Lex if he returns. Now that would be interesting and would totally make her character unique. If she reaches a point in the same journey that Lex took where she chooses to go the other way. Otherwise she will just be a cheap Lex immitation.
Oh and how about that mysterious email about the crystal from the person calling themself X? Could that be Lex? I think using X as a calling card is certainly supposed to leave us wondering if it could be. Hopefully that will pay off. Have to see...
I agree I always wanted them to play a bit more with the Clark and Chloe thing. But in the end we all know where it was heading. We know the story. Clark ends up with Lois. Some times that's how things go though. Some times you let so much time go by that it's too late for people to be together. During that time a friendship can build to the point where neither person would do anything to sacrifice it. Which is sad actually. But I speak from experience. This kind of thing happens. I'm hoping they will toy around with it one last time before Jimmy and Chloe get married. In the end though Clark is going to end up with Lois.

I gave it a 9! It was a really good episode. Continuity was amazing, good script and the actors were great. I enjoyed watching it, nothing to complain.
Maybe the scene in the office with Clark and Maxima - reminded me a bit of that barn scene in "Hypnotic"....but that doesn't mean it was bad....not at all ;)
I soooo much like the new clothes of Clark, he really looks amazing in other colours than red and bright blue *sigh*
And for those ones, who were complaining about "missing the barn" and "where the hell is Shelby" etc. - well, there your are !!!:D
Last week we were wondering about where Clark was staying - on the farm or in Metropolis - well, this question was answered, too ;) As I said last week in my post - he still stays on the farm, no wonder. With his superspeed it shouldn't be a problem at all. Even Chloe's still staying in Smallville at the Talon, soooo.......
Some are complaining about Lana being mentioned so often by Clark - but actually I don't have a problem with that either.
If he wouldn't mention her some people would say "He forgot her too soon" like he obviously forgot others soon, especially his mother, who is supposed to be still alive etc.
So actually it's not that bad that he's still thinking about her and mentioning his feelings for her. She was/is his big love since season 1.....
Well, as I said before, all in all, a very good episode. I loved it! :)

I totally loved it. Yes, it was a bit on the cheesy side with the love topic, but otherwise well done.
I have just one question: can anyone tell me who left the message to Tess in the final scene? I don't know much about DC Comics, and I'm wondering if the W on the crystal or the red x at the end of the line is a symbol of a villain...or hero?:confused:

I gave it a nine. Good episode. I liked how they set up the Fortress coming back. I think that mystery message that came at the end about the Crystal was from lex (do not ask me how or why I think that. Or even how that makes sense. I just do) I like that Lois and Clark's relationship is coming more to what we know it as. And for those of you that say Lois and Clark is like Clark and Lana. I would have to respectfully disagree. Lana would have gone off and cried in some corner about how Clark fell in love with another woman. Where Lois is angry at him and probably gets him back in some way to teach the lesson. That is the difference between the two. Lois is a fighter, and she expects to take her back not because she mopes around and feel sorry for herself it is because it is hard to get a second chance with her. Where Lana mopes around makes you feel sorry for her and then when somebody says. I love you she loves that person.
About the fever letter. I really see nothing wrong with the way they did that. No disrespect to any fans of Clark and Chloe, but they set it up, so Jimmy would feel insecure about his relationship with Chloe. Also Chloe stated, she was 15 when she wrote that letter, and she does not feel that way anymore about <ST1:place w:st="on">Clark</ST1:place>. Chloe is now what, 22/23 a lot can happen between that time, and the person grows up and changes their opinions on things and people. I mean, she still loves <ST1:place w:st="on">Clark</ST1:place> just not in the same way. Me personally, I am glad they did not go in depth into the matter of the letter and take away from the other stuff in the episode that was more important. In my opinion, if they wanted to examine the letter in depth they should have done it earlier in the series. Remember. Just my opinion

I liked the episode. I like how they progressed the Lois and Clark relationship. I am actually a huge Chloe and Clark fan, and even though it looks like there will be no Chloe/Clark relationship(romantic), I am OK with it. I like where there relationship has progressed. Shelby back-cant be that. Tess is a good Lex replacement. Cant be Lex, but she is strong second.

Thanks for this post ...is there any chance I could change my vote that was 2 to 1! I would change to ZERO if available!

I gave this a 9 out of 10. It only lost points for Jimmy's whining. Otherwise, great and fun episode. I am a former Chlarker who still loves everything Chloe-related, but I want Clark to be with Lois now. I'm loving the Clark/Lois interaction. Her wink at the end was a great touch, though I kind of hoped she would move in.
As for Maxima, she was stunning, and the "girl who'll do anything to get her mate" thing was done quite well.

I gave it a 9. I would have given it a 10 but I'm still prepping for that killer episode. I know it'll come. I understand why Chlarkers hate this episode because it is very clear that there will never be a clark-chloe romactic angles anymore. But hey, this is superman we're talking about here. Maxima knew it only seconds after seeing the two of them (Lois and Clark)! So hello?!
I also agree that the writing and storylines have improved. The episodes truly seem connected. Can't wait for the next one.
Yay for clois!!!!

I'm sorry, but I really had a problem with this episode. It falls far below Magnetic for me as the worse episode of the series. I have to list all the things I hated about it, and hopefully we can have a discussion, and maybe you guys can help me to like this one.
It seemed to be heavily influenced by Dawn Ostroff, there were way too many makeout scenes and it just made me so uncomfortable to watch. I can handle Clark doing it, I've seen him do it many times before, but JIMMY? Come on! He's never even gotten that steamy with Chloe on camera...
I am glad many of you think Maxima/Charlotte Sullivan is hot. I really am, but wow, I find her disgusting and the casting director should be fired. Her skin is too pale. She really needed some time in a tan bed before even auditioning to be on the show. Seriously.
She has a terrible body shape to be in sexy scenes. the actress that should have played Maxima should have a tight figure with sexy curves (as in the comics), adding to the lure of why she was even in Smallville in the first place (looking for a mate). She should have at least did some fitness workouts for a week so her body wouldn't be so... what's the word? ...loose? mediocre? I don't know, but she sure ain't no Victoria's Secret model.
What's with the horrible outfits they put her in? That green dress made her look worse and then they go and leave her in it for the remainder of the episode. Her first outfit... wow. She wore it for only two scenes (I think) and it was a very bad take on the outfit we see in the comics. There is a big difference between the traditional green and gold she wears, and this seaweed-green outfit the wardrobe department slapped together.
What the hell happened to her? Clark broke her bracelet and she magically teleported some place else? What the hell? What exactly did I miss? I know Chloe used her brainiac influence to tell Clark something about her, but I missed most of that part. I'm guessing she told him how to send her away... what was it and how can it be so easily done?
---
Other than all of this, I really liked the show, still one of my least favorites, but the show continues to progress. And that's always great. Again, great work with the Clark and Lois interaction. Erica Durance continues to be a fantastic addition to every episode she stars in. Mercy keeps getting more and more interesting and intimidating. And FINALLY goodbye Chlark!!!!!

That first scene with Lois and Clark in the newsroom. Oh man let me start of from where the show started off. The beam of light that shot through the luthor mansion was hot.. But really its over she should be moved on right now. <st1:place w:st="on">Clark</st1:place> and chloe were never anything big... <st1:place w:st="on">Clark</st1:place> even said he did not know she felt that way. Regardless I have never truly believed someone like chloe from the second scene with chloe and clark when chloe told him about the letter I saw it I believed her in her saying those feelings were in the past but as we all can see from next weeks episode that was all a lie and shes going to tell jimmy how she really feels about clark. And now chloe is <st1:place w:st="on">Clarks</st1:place> intergalactic personal database man-o-man thats awesome I want more more more give me more more. Ok so who else thought Lois was dead last night. I mean seriously that car was tossed well over 30 feet. And no blood or scratches
man can someone tell me where I can get seat belts like that??? Maximas words to lois were great I love the whole premonition thing I love Erica durance she absolutely beautiful.. but I remember it more like Clarks being secretly in love with lois and she looks at <st1:place w:st="on">clark</st1:place> like a window. But I figure they got to build relationship somewhere an I trust everyone on the smallville writing team to bring what they got... And this episode it was defiantly there <st1:place w:st="on">Clarks</st1:place> good-bye to maxima and his words to chloe that he feels its not the lst theyve seen of her is cool... they did kill off a dc comic character yes... Honestly im always afraid there going to. But I loved the whole episode but the last scene how tess getting a e-mail from the suspicious X
..man-o-man who didnt freak out and get goose-bumps when watching.. hell im getting them as I type this
X... X
come on
X..ITS LEX!!!!!!!!!!! It has to be him
dont tease like that
they cant tease like that if it turns out not to be
but please please I miss that bald head of his. I was so excited I missed the preview for next weeks new episode

It was appalling. The Fever letter was handled so poorly it could have been bad fanfic. Clark is depicted as being a moron and this ep, as others so far this year, was a dud.

Gosh, this episode was hot!!!
I don't know why, but I loved it! It is my favorite so far this season.
I don't have time to come up with a well-thought review because of all the things I need to do today, but hopefully I will have time this weekend to read everyone's posts and post my own thoughts other than, "That was hot!!!"

.Also i loved the return of the fever letter and thought it was great to see the actual letter again and its outcome with jimmy and clark knowing about it. Though i wonder how it got in the talon there though since lana was the last one with it.
Lana lived at the Talon during high school so she could have left it in that bookshelf. Although if that were the case, Chloe would have been like, "Oh my gosh, how did that get there?" Lana must have given it back to Chloe and Chloe, for some strange reason, held onto the letter and kept it in her bookshelf.
Why did she not get rid of that letter once she knew she was in love with Jimmy? Her actions belie her words...

I loved that Clark was back at the farm. I loved the superspeed scene with Shelby in the morning. Loved the Clois banter, especially when Lois caught Clark with Maxima. I didn't know which had more sexual tension and passion: Clark and Maxima in the elevator, or Clois yelling at each other to calm down. I loved the continued characterizaton of Clark. I loved the acting by all the actors.
I did not understand why Clark went home to change clothes before going to ISIS instead of going after Maxima or Lois after the elevator incident. But then I remembered that he left Shelby in the house all day and proabably said, "Oh snap! Shelby probably pooped all over the house by now!" and while he was home changed out of the work clothes.
Another WTH moment was the whole Fever letter. That topic should not have ever been spoiled. It set up such a crushing disappointment for all the fans of Chlark.
1. Why did Chloe hold on to this letter while being in love with Jimmy?
2. It felt weird that she was so open with Clark about it, but I was glad she had the courage to be totally open with him and I loved when she said, "You lost big time" or something like that.
The biggest WTH moment was when Chloe asked Clark to give her away. That is a very sweet gesture for a woman who has lost her father or is estranged from her father. Did Gabe die? And if he did die why was he mentioned in the future in Apocalypse?
Other moments like Tess, Lois, and Jimmy escaping death despite serious injuries I have just come to accept as part of the Smallville universe.
I gave the episode a 10. My first 10 since Apocalypse.

I can't say I agree with you, since I liked the episode, but...Well, you do have a point there.
Okay, on this I totally agree. You know, when I first got a glimpse of her in the screencaptures she was wearing that hideous, horrific outfit I actually, honestly thought she was Poison Ivy (from Batman)!!! :lol: I'm serious! If you check the animation, Poison Ivy also has red hair!! I was like, what is she doing here? What's going on with this show?

I don't agree with anything you said, and honestly there would be no point in trying to convince you otherwise seeing as you seem to hate so much of the episode. But honestly how can you call her ugly? I usually dislike pale skin too, but she was gorgeous, and her legs looked amazing and she even looked amazing in the green dress. Makes me wonder what kind of girl looks hot to you...
It seemed to be heavily influenced by Dawn Ostroff, there were way too many makeout scenes and it just made me so uncomfortable to watch.
I wasn't uncomfortable, but highly unimpressed. I kept thinking : so, this is all this show about young Superman can bring us anymore?
And I disliked how they put together various elements of the early seasons - the Fever letter, Clark's loneliness, his desire to find someone who is right for him. They squeezed it all together in one episode and somehow took away from it all, it had no impact whatsoever for me. The only thing that stood out for me from this episode, was Clark's need to mate. That does not warrant an episode.

i liked this episode. it was pretty good. even though i dont tend to like sexual related episodes i think this one was done well. maxima was great too. very believeable. if they decide to bring posion ivy to the grayson show she would probably do good with playing her too lol. she just has to wear the same thging and control plants lol. i felt sorry for shelby tho. clark gets distracted by something shiney and no food for shelby :(. i just want to know where clark and lois' hidden love for each other came from lol. its like they have no hint at liking each other till like now lol. well atleast not a lot in past episodes. lol

I gave it a 9. I liked the love starting to show with both Clark and Lois in their own little way. And Clark was obviously disappointed when Lois didn't want to move in. And I really liked Maxima and understood her quest, although I think it would have been simpler for her to just ask if the guy if he was kryptonian and then wouldn't have to be a killer. And that Clark was really torn about sending her off, like he hoped he wasn't making a mistake and felt sorry for Maxima as well, that he understands her feelings. I also noticed that Clark seemed rather adamant about Earth being his home, that was nice. Like the thought of leaving Earth was unpalatible.

I gave it a 1 :\
Im all for a Clois relationship in the future but the constant Lois & Clark anvils this season is overkill. Im almost waiting for them to go pa rum pum pum pum and for one of them to do spirit fingers and say did ya get it, did ya!.
I expected more storytelling with the Maxima character. More feelings about the love letter and for all of it to tie together better, just more depth overall for all of the characters.
It was so one dimensionally flat for me. I was glad to see Shelby though.

I'm not in a position to comment on her body itself, but I would agree that her outfits didn't flatter her. The dress was a trussed-up muumuu, but on the other hand, how on earth could they have done that elevator scene with her in that original whatever? She probably would have split her pants.
Anyway, the preview and director's cut lowered my expectations so much that the actual episode was a pleasant surprise. I liked it a lot.

Blame the wardrobe department yet again with their hit/miss success rate.
I think the word you might be looking for is 'toned'. Can't blame the actress; toning takes a while. Erica obviously cares about keeping in tiptop shape, but the rest of the cast don't seem to dedicate as much time. Of course, they also probably have less time to devote to physical training. Charlotte Sullivan's Maxima looked fit and healthy. I get what you mean about Maxima's curves, but those kind of comic book pneumatic curves are hard to come by in nature.
As far as her skin, there are a variety of redhead skin types, from super fair to dark tan ; you obviously prefer someone with more melanin in their skin, but I thought she was perfectly fine. Did you know that some people with fairer skin can't tolerate sun beds? I'm one of them. Would you rather she used a tanning product, 'cuz those have the risk to look even worse than a baked on tan.

I actually loved the episode last night. I loved Lois' reaction to finding Clark/Maxima making out, and how Clark immediately followed Lois and left Maxima surprised. I loved the 'bring it b*tch' from Lois.
I also loved the part when Clark went back to feed Shelby. It was so cute, it kind of made me want to cry. lmaoo.
Anyways, overall I think it was a pretty good episode, but the Fever Letter was definitely handled poorly..

It was okay. Maxima was fun, and I think I might like the reference to "Fever", but I still don't care for how the writers are suddenly making it all about Lois/Clark. I mean, it's better than Clark/Lana for sure, but I stand by the opinion that they should ease into the whole thing more slowly, if they have to do it at all. Nor did I care for the fact that Clark is apparently still pining after Lana; I liked living in the illusion that he was over her, finally. But I think that over-all it was a decent and entertaining episode, and I'm interested in finding out who took the crystal. Plus, I find myself wondering if perhaps Lex is, in fact, trapped inside the crystal? Hm....

It seemed to be heavily influenced by Dawn Ostroff, there were way too many makeout scenes and it just made me so uncomfortable to watch.
She has a terrible body shape to be in sexy scenes. the actress that should have played Maxima should have a tight figure with sexy curves (as in the comics),
I also thought the casting of this actress was a joke. Maxima should be fuller figured and athletic. This actress did not convince me at all. Too slender, shapeless and untoned.
And the kissing was gratuitous imo.
Overall I gave it 6/10.
Clark and Lois were good. And of course, I'm happy that Lex might be the mystery X.

I gave it a 7. I had high hopes for this episode and I got some of what I wanted, but other parts just seemed to fail...kinda.
I loved all of the Tess scenes, but the scenes with Maxima seemed lacking. The promo made it seem so much better and I actually thought that she'd so some fighting (like some other posters said), but the fact that she went around and just kissed people seemed redundant. Chloe also seemed very off in this episode. Her one-liners seemed very tacky and un-Chloeish IMO like "Maybe I should rush over to the dojo because I have a lot of it building up right now". Maybe it's just foreshadowing for the future Brainiac takeover.

This episode just didn't do anything for me. Alot of filler but no meat. I give it a 3 out of 10. I appreciate BadToad's and Bkwurm1's comments too..... especially this one:
"The Tess stuff was great and Maxima was fine, but that left an awful lot of craptastic stuff in between." :rotfl:
This pretty much sums up my feelings for this particular episode. And is it just me, or am I seeing less and less of Clark using any of his other "gifts" besides speed and hearing? It's like the writers are purposely trying to blend him in with everyone else. He's not "everyone" else though. He's Superman, The Last Son of Krypton. These subtle deletions of his character leaves me scratching my head. There were also signs of regression... Clark sulking in his room (the whole looking out the barn window scene).... or the "duh" moment between him and Chloe regarding that Fever Letter. He really didn't know Chloe felt that way about him?? For real! After 7 seasons!? Is he that clueless???
And Jimmy is such a wimp - when it comes to Chloe. The actor plays Jimmy's character well though. But the whole Chimmy thing gives me the heebee jeevies! I'd rather see Clana than that!
Yes, we all know that Clark will end up with Lois... however, can it be toned down a little bit? Where's the build up? It's almost like - well I (Clark) can't have Lana or Chloe (he had plenty of chances to hook up with her), well I guess I'll try Lois...... I almost wished he hooked up with Maxima for a few episodes and go with her to her home planet. At least he'd be happy, schooled (if you know what I mean) and could return as Kal-el. CK looked like he was enjoying her attention. And she wasn't killing anyone with him!!!
Something is just amiss with these Season 8 episodes, and I don't know what it is (besides the obvious missing of certain characters).... I'll just have to wait and see how everything will play out during the rest of the season.
AM, TM, and ED did awesome with their roles. I just didn't understand the writing.
These are just MOs everyone. Until next week's episode.... tootles!<!-- / message -->

okay i decided at my own disreguard to rewatch the episode. I have to say it is better the second time around. Being able to fast forward through commercials does help . Im seeing things i did not see the first time and a little clearer since the red haze of anger seems to be settling.
with that said , chloe completely cut clark off after she let him read it! he literally was in mid sentence when she cut him off and said it's allright i don't feel that way now , clark looks up looking almost hurt but i cannot be sure. but then she cuts him off again , as if she knew it hurt him by saying she does not regret ever having those feelings. clark cheers up but never gets to say his peace .
the thing i still do not like is clarks response to lois on how chloe had intense feelings and he did not know about it . that im sticking with as BS. but im seeing we may still get some acknowledgement from clark and that is all i want ! chloe can scream she loves jimmy on the hills with the sound of music , but i want something from clark, something clark has never given us and that is admission of feelings for chloe . then they move on yeah im happy . Im just tired of the denial and the longing looks but honestly i would miss them if they stopped lol !
so i will still watch smallville. plus i was so angry with the letter i completely blacked out the end where tess gets her email and the crystal is gone and the email is from X . i cannot believe in my fury i completely over looked this and then i remembered there is more to smallville then soulmates and lovers and anvils .
this thing with the crystal, lex missing is all some interesting stuff and a good enough reason to keep watching, but seriously im done watching live ... commercials suck it makes the show different. season seven and all the seasons are better with no commercials . so i will be most likely recording on vcr or watching on amazon.com for 1.99 per episode. but i really think im gonna take a vacation for a little till i hear something that i think is worth it , im really not sure . but i do know that letting a tv show get to me like this is not healthy.
it will be hard to get over chlark but i cannot abandon it all together . Yes im still pissed off but maybe just maybe i will get what i want and i think what i want from clark is realistic. not chalrk as a couple but him knowing what he lost ! just a sign that he wanted her and im happy .
i still don't think jimmy is for chloe . this is the second time he strayed . he had an oppourtunity to walk away from maxima and he did not drinking is not an excuse i have been over intoxicated to the point of poisoning and never did anything i did not want to . yes maybe took away my inhibitions like red k to clark but it never changed who i was and made me do somethiung i did not want to. that was a long time ago when in my 20's . but anyway , i still feel clark cares deeply for chloe , i just want a dam confession ! thats all. i don't like chloe with jimmy he has issues and i think clark gave him the benefit of the doubt because he does not want chloe hurt . plus that look at the hospital wtf ! thats what im talking about , it leaves too much for interpritation ( spelling ) was he thinking of chloe ? was he sad ? was he a little jealous ? was he angry at jimmy ? was he mad jimmy did this and was worried for chloe ? dam we just don't know do we ? why because da da da da ... no confession.
i was very upset last night and all of today and after viewing a second time im a little better .but i still don't llike the elevator scene. too much ...way too much... sorry . don't like that scene it is too over the top .
anyway back to chlark . This episode touched how chloe felt ... not so much clark ,he is dancing around everything like he always does and years of having to cover his secret from people he loves he is now a master mind at hiding emotion so maybe just maybe i will get what i want , remorse , regret or even admission .
i may still take a vacation from the show but i feel i may come back if i hear something good .good night my fellow chlarkers .
oh chloe and tess scenes made the whole episode imo oh yeah and clark shirtless lol ! by the way tom has some big hands anyone notice his fingers when he was clicking the mouse * gulp * lol ! he is so gorgeous .
seriously , tess and chloe loved that ! and the crystal and the x thing i think x is lex !

I've rewatched the epi and I really enjoyed it. Maxima was hot, the Chloe Fever letter involvement was cool, and the references to Clark's soul mate were great. Chloe is so gorgeous and Clark was pretty heroic and mature (although a bit of the classic BDA at times). And I loved the teaser at the end with the message regarding the crystal to Tess from "X".

I don't know it I am in the minority but I am ready for Clois. Lois has been in Clark's life for four years. She found him naked in a field and brought him to the hospital. She is his BFF's cousin. They worked together to solve Chloe's murder. She moved in with the KEnt family. She became Clark's dad's campaign manager. She became Clark's mom's chief of staff, and if you watch the deleted scenes from season 6, Martha thought of her as a daughter she never had.
She has had a front row seat to the Kent family and the loss of Jonathon. Yes, they were all keeping the biggest secret of all from her, but she was right there as a part of the family.
There has been sexual tension between these two since they first met four years ago. Last season, they kept Lois and Clark very distant from each other while Clark told Lana his secret and live with Lana on the farm. But, prior to that, Lois has been very much a part of Clark's life.
Now that they are working side by side as adults without significant others, it shouldn't be too long before they see what has been there since senior year in highschool.
Just my opinion, but that is why I am enjoying season 8 so much. I get to see Clark and Lois a lot on screen and Clark is back to acting like a soon-to-be superhero.

How could any Supes fan NOT be ready for Clois? Clearly they are alluding to it. Clark and Lois are now good work mates and by the end of the series will be smooch buddies.

This one line pretty much sums up my feelings for this particular episode. I do have some comments though. Wanna hear them? Here they go:
1. It just seems like there were more special effects (per episode) with the other writers.
2. There were also signs of regression... Clark sulking in his room (the whole looking out the barn window scene).... or the "duh" moment between him and Chloe regarding that Fever Letter. He really didn't know Chloe felt that way about him?? For real! After 7 seasons!? Is he that clueless???
3. And Jimmy is such a wimp - when it comes to Chloe. The actor plays Jimmy's character well though. But the whole Chimmy thing gives me the heebee jeevies! I'd rather see Clana than them 2 together!
4. Yes, we all know that Clark will end up with Lois... however, can it be toned down a little bit with the insinuations? Where's the build up? It's almost like - "well I (Clark) can't have Lana, so I guess I'll give Lois a try"...... I almost wished he hooked up with Maxima for a few episodes and visit her on her home planet. At least he'd be happy, schooled (if you know what I mean), and could return to earth as Kal-el. CK looked like he was enjoying Maxima's attention though. And she wasn't killing anyone with him!!! I'm so over the ominous CK. Leave that to Batman. More happy CK's (like Seasons 1-3) please!!
5. AM, TW, and ED did awesome with their roles. I enjoy their chemistry. And TW was particularly "Supermanly" in that elevator scene. Something about seeing his chest and that gorgeous smile! :p I even liked Maxima. I just didn't understand the writing. Season 8 is starting to loose me, and I didn't feel this way with the previous seasons. SIGH. I will continue to watch, but half heartedly....
Overall, something is just amiss with these Season 8 episodes thus far, and I don't know what it is (besides the obvious missing of certain characters).... I'll just have to wait and see how everything will play out during the rest of the season.
These are just MOs everyone. Until next week's episode.... tootles!<!-- / message -->

I didnt like this episode. I think the actress they chose to portray Maxima is beautiful but her hair and outfit didnt match. She had no posture of a queen, the way she walked was clumsy. It was a very poor work. I liked the scenes between Clark and Lois. She is starting to show what she feels for him but then again, when she caught Clark and Maximma in the elevator, Erica Durance's acting wasnt right, something went wrong there. The scene at the barn was ok though. This is the worst episode of the season so far. Let's see the others.

Hm.... He will never be over her not the way it concluded anyway. He will only be able to move on for real when and if he sees her again in her new life if they stick to canon as a fashion corporate mogul. Clark can only truly move on when he sees that others are happy with their own choices in life, Chloe being the perfect example. I hope they meet again and realize they are much better off as friends.

Well, I kind of liked this episode. Finally back on the farm and the Clark Lois conversations were great. Also the Chloe and Clark. Clark will give her away to the altar. Wow. But I agree with the others who asked, where is Chloes father? That is his job and I also can't remember him dieing.
What I even don't understand is why Oliver send Tess a dress and invites here to meet him at the ace of clubs??? :confused:
I guess his taste in dresses isn't very good. Every woman would have looked awful.
By the way, is this a diffrent dog who plays Shelby now?

I give the episode an 8. I thought it was well done. The whole thing with Maxima showing up was really cool. And I loved the scenes with Lois and Clark. The jealousy in her face, the conversation with her and Maxima, and Clark offering Lois a place to stay. Super. Loved it.

I gave it a 9, it was a great episode, I wish the sexy scenes would have lasted a bit longer. I didn't give a 10 cuz the Jimmy Chloe scenes were a bit boring, I am not really interested in what happens with them although I love Chloe. I loved to see Shelby again lol I thought about all the people that always ask about Shelby all the time, the whole scene with the dog was sweet. Maxima was cool, almost felt sorry for her and I loved her interaction with Clark. Of course seeing sexy Clark was awesome and the way Lois reacted when she saw them was priceless, her jealousy was hilarious and I loved how he snapped out of it when he saw her and went after her. That was definitely my fav scene, also their last scene together was perfect, she almost looked like she wanted to run to hug him and kiss him. He looked so Supermanlike standing there staring at the sky, and her expression was like ummm he looks so handsome how come I didn't realize before? hehe. I loved the cliffhanger as well, who is x?....very cool episode. I am loving this season :)

Late July in a hidden room in the Smallville Studios..
Brian Peterson: Welcome to another meeting to discuss our future plans, peeps. Things have so far gone well and the response has been phenomenal. Now, onto deciding where our story arc goes from here. Episode 8.04 coming up will be titled Instinct and we have permission to use Maxima from DCU. Any ideas for the plot?
Darren Swimmer: Can we get some cookies over here, please?
Brian: Sure thing Darren. Now, instead of focusing on all the points at once, lets just start with the main goal. Help me out here people. We need to come up with a way to put the Fever Letter to rest respectfully, while moving Clark forward away from Lana towards his soulmate Lois. How are we going to do that? Yes-- Kelly.
Kelly Sounders: We can always have him smash Lana's video tape with a bat, then kiss Lois in front of Chloe. And-
Brian: I hate it when you watch old Clexana footage. Next-- go ahead Darren.
Darren: I just wanted to point out that we never got those cookies.
Brian: Dammit Darren. You can do without Oatmeal Rasin for a few. Lets focus on the matter at hand here.
Kelly: We can do the corspe thing.
Brian: I don't even want to know what you are talking about. Anyone else? Ok-- you.
Hector England: Uh yes, Hector England here. We can have Clark proclaim his undying for Lana, thereby singling that he is ready to move on to his second choice. That way, when he looks at Lois, all he'll see is Lana.
Brian: Who the hell are you? Hector England? You're not a producer here. How did you get in this room? Wait a minute... Miles, is that you? Is that a fake mustache?
Miles Miller (sad): Yes.
Kelly: What are you doing here? We already destroyed that statue. Was this Al's idea?
Miles: No, he wanted to burn up Clark's cape. This was all me. I'm sorry. I'm weak. I had to do something.
Darren: Security!
Miles: That isn't neccessary Darren, I can leave the building on my own. Sorry to-
Darren: ..We need those cookies in here!
Everyone sighs.
Brian: Oh for goodness sake. Does anybody have any good suggestions?
Todd Slakvin: How about we use Maxima's quest for a soulmate to start Clark and Lois on their own quest to find each other. The Fever Letter can be used to show that Clark and Chloe respectivally have put the past behind them.
Brian: Thank you. Thats it. Lets get the hell out of here. And Miles, take off that sombrero. You look ridiculous.

LOVED IT! This was one of those episodes you can watch over and over again without getting bored. Its one of those fun, enjoyable episodes that remind you why you love this show so much. I have to admit that when I saw the teaser and the Director's cut for this episode I feared the worst. I believed I called it intergalactic softcore porn- Smallville style. But how wrong I was!
They didn't give Charlotte Sullivan complicated material to work with, but with the little she had.. she worked the hell out of it. Starting with that outfit. I had to chuckle at that cheese eating grin that smuck on the street of Metropolis had when he saw her. "Well here I am baby." Hilarious. You just knew this was going to a wild ride (grins).
Maxima Observation:
* Likes wearing trashy clothes.
* A kiss to die for
I love her already!
Kent farm. Clark, all these years and no dog door? When I think of a way to blame Lana for that I swear I will mention it. Wait a minute! Thats not our Shelby! Still, this was a nice opener, and I didn't even mind the crystal necklace thing-a-ma-gig. When Lois interrupts things thats when the episode really gets moving. "I need you Smallville." I love how Clark face changed to terror before Lois expanded. "I'm flying into the building now?" How freakin cool was that?! I love this show. And thanks for coming back for Shelby Clark. Nice scene.
Clark can be so so dense sometimes. How can he not realize that Lois is making a play for him? I think if a woman threw her bra at him he'd think she was implying to order pizza. He's really patient with Lois, but Lois is also really patient with him. At least he got the competive motion, builds to a climax joke. I was worried about him there. And here is the beauty of any Clois investigation scene. Lois hands Clark a story she thinks doesn't amount to much, but as soon as she learns that it does she snatches it right out of Clark's hands and hands him her coffee. Again, hilarious!
Talon. My pasta got cold, so that must mean.. ah yes. Chimmy. Why.. in the name.. of all thats good.. is Jimmy.. moving into Lois' already crowded tiny one bed room apartment???? Why couldn't Chloe move to his apartment? I'm sure they would have more space. How whipped is this guy? Chloe loves a man of mystery? I don't get it. Good job on the writers part for not forgetting about what happened between Jimmy and Lois in Arctic and using that to explain why Lois seems turned off to him this season. I love little things like that. Jimmy finds the fever letter and I find the nearest bucket.
Tess comes in with her new hot secretary to find a hideous dress Oliver sent her. Its green.. ha ha. Clever. You know, for a moment I thought something may happen between Tess and Maxima. When Maxima started choking her it only got hotter.
Maxima Observation:
* Likes to wear trashy clothes
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
Keeps getting better!
Nice Clois scene, albeit a little short. Thank you writers for having Clark use his brain this season. I can't say this enough. Its a breath of fresh air.
Ace of Clubs. Wow they really have to get new music. Thats the same song thats plays there in every episode. Jimmy is sitting there watching people make out. The hell? And the bartender was totally stoned. "Women are a complicated species dude". Heh, tell me about it.
Talon. Chlark scene. Oh Gawd. The scoobying junk continues. Since Clark is at the DP and can get Earth info on his own, lets conviently make it so that Chloe now has intelgatic knowledge that she has to tell Clark. Thats just freakin great. I suppose when he does some of his training and learns all this knowledge himself she'll teach him how to create the universe.
Must.. accentuate.. the.. positives...
The scene had good lighting. There.
The next Jimmy/Maxima scene was pretty humorous. Jimmy always get the alien chicks to mack on him. Playa! I sort of cut him some slack on the kiss but he should have never let it go that far to begin with. Why even dance with her? Why even.. let her get all up in his personal space? It was all his fault. Luckily for him Clark was there to rush him to the hospital asap. I can never get tired of watching Clark superspeed while everyone arounds him is motionless. Awesome visual, and nice touch with Maxima seeing him.
Tess/Chloe scene. Hmm.. Tess went too easy on her. I guess they are still trying to stay in the gray area with her but with the amount of leverage Tess has on Chloe she shouldn't have to ask for anything.
The first Clark/Jimmy scene of the season and its all about Chloe and Lana. Wonderful. Good deal covering for Jimmy though, Clark. Not nearly long enough, and not nearly about THEMSELVES.
Daily Planet. Clark is there all alone and.. oh.. not anymore! Did she follow him or something? And the way she said "Nice name.. I like it" with that crazy smile of hers..
Maxima Observation:
* Likes to wear trashy clothes
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
What proceeds next is the hottest makeout scene this show has ever done, and I really liked the underscore here too. You go Clark! Clearing off the nearest table? Good. Her wraping her leg around his? Better. Then she says not here? Ahh.. she's somewhat of a romantic, but thats ok. I could work with that. How about the janitor's closet? Oh she wants the elevator. Oh my, shoving each other against the walls? He pins her arms? He grabs and lifts the thigh? She wraps her leg around his? Tongue kissing??? This IS Smallville right? Lois appears and looks sort of like I looked after I saw the Mummy 3- total disbelief. Clark breaks his trance and oh my God she sucks on his lip as he pulls away.
Maxima Obseration:
* Likes to wear trashy clothes
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
* Is a >>total<< FREAK
* Is PERFECT for Cedric
I.. I.. uh.. continuing.. Clark chases after Lois and they have their first lover's quarrel. Ahhh sweet memories. I remember mines like it was yesterday. I was 13 and had my first official girlfriend. We were in Science 101 and we were messing around with dead frogs. She had lost her scalpel and stole mine. We argued, then we made up, thats when she layed a big on me. What can I say, I have that effect on women.
Back to the scene. Lois' body movements were hilarious. She was all over the place. You could tell that she was looking for the first opportunity to jab him with her finger and Clark walked right into it. Clark only got 2 sentenses in the entire spat and Lois managed to throw out at least 10. You can't outtalk Lois Clark, don't even try! Then she turns and walks away with fast half-steps! This scene was GOLD!!! Clark didn't know what the heck happened. Maybe he was thinking about how minty Maxima's breath was. I won't add that to my list, don't worry.
"Does he really think I care who he sucks face with it? Slutty Anna wasn't even his type." Ahahaha! The way she said it was full of venom. I love Lois! Then out of nowhere, Maxima appaears and flings the car down the street. This is like, the woman of my dreams.
Maxima starts talking really creepy to Lois. Even the way she was looking at her was crazy. I loved it!! "You have a deep connection to him, I felt it!" Wow she's a like a female, better smelling, better looking Darth Vader. The point here was made though. Maxima sees right through Clark, no matter how much he denies it. And now she told Lois what Clark feels for her. Lois now knows. And she doesn't deny what she feels either.
Maxima Observation:
* Like to wear trashy clothes
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
* Is a >>total<< FREAK
* Is PERFECT for Cedric
* Possessive
* Homicidal
I REALLY liked this next Tess/Clark scene. I liked how Tess was there just waiting. Clark actually came up with a good excuse for why he was carrying around a picture of Maxima. When Tess showed him the FOS crystal thats when it got really good. I sat up a little on my couch to see if Clark could stand the test and I think he did a good job! I got nervous for him though. Tess watched his face like a hawk. Luckily for him the phone call broke it up.
Lois- total badass. But she was so about to be ded. D.E.D. Good save Clark, and we see the red and blue blur again! Oh wow, he slammed Maxima against a brick wall and she laughed. She laughed! How can any guy not love this woman? Cue the porn music. Cue Clark looking scared. She really layed it on thick didn't she? Damn, I almost thought she had Clark convinced but he stayed the course and denied his instinct. That was righteous of him but I could not believe that he would send her back through the portal like that! I lost it. What the hell is wrong with this dude! She's nuts, she worships you, and all she wants to do is to love you!!
I fell off my couch to my knees screaming her name while reaching for the tv. And considering that I was watching one my favorite comedies Bedazzled it was only fitting.
Maxima! Wait!! Maximaaaaaa!!!! I'll get into your pants!!
It was kind of sad how even when she was being pulled into her portal, the only thing she wanted to do was hold on to Clark. Her heart was in the right place, she just went about things the wrong way. Damn you Clark!
Midway through the commercial break I got up and regained my composure. Chlark scene was next, and no way was I going to stay on my knees for that. The Fever Letter, again, and now for the last time ever. Thank the Lord. I'm glad they didn't give Clark any looks of regret. There is no reason why he should regret anything. He wanted Lana, Chloe wasn't his choice, and he made that clear to her many times. So he didn't blow it, Chloe. He just didn't feel that way about you. And with that, hopefully the lingering looks or whatever teasing they have done with Chlark since season 2 is officially over.
I already went over in detail my thoughts of this loft scene in the Clois thoughts thread, but to sum it up here- a beautiful scene where you see the maturity that is Clois. The writers go out of their way to show the differences between a mature love like they (will) have, and the nonsense that Clana possessed. Look at the way they talk with each other. The way their conversations flow from joking to serious to emotional in the span of a seconds. They can talk with each other so easily, so comfortably, so smoothly. No matter how Lois behaves with Clark in public, when she is with him in this type of setting she is puddy in his hands. She can keep up the toughgirl act 24/7 with other people, but not when she is alone with Clark. He knows her spot, so to speak.
And now that she knows the growing feelings Clark keeps bottled up about her, I can't wait to see what happens next. She knows Clark is special, she'll wait him out. And the day when Clark openly returns everything she feels and more will be the day where she is free to let loose her own desires. But for now, this is a game of chicken and someone eventually has to crack first.
I have a strong idea about who is X, but I loved the cliffhanger and can't wait for the reveal.
A wonderfully directed, highly enjoyable episode. The writing and the underscore was really good. I had tons of fun watching this. Good job, show. Well done! And did you all see that preview for next week? The next 5 days can't go fast enough!
8 out of 10. Second best episode of the season behind Plastique, tied with Odyssey.

That was awful. I can definitely understand all the '1' ratings. This has to be the weakest start to a Smallville season yet. Granted, Season 7's wasn't too hot either.
The "Maxima" kissing/makeout scenes weren't hot, they were just, I don't know, disgusting looking?:lol: How many super-closeups of her tongue do we really need to see? Lol, and that actress seriously should have gotten a body tan before filming, especially with the hooker-for-hire outfits they had her in. That beacon thing summoning this random alien ho-bag who is searching for the perfect mate has to be the DUMBEST story idea Smallville has come up with it yet, dumbest! Lol I mean who writes this crap? (Apparently she's from the comics??) And why do aliens/freaks with powers (who aren't Clark) always have to be so murderous and one-dimensional?
Speaking of Maxima, remember Heat? Well Maxima is basically another Desiree. Or is she another Simone....or Alicia? Smallville is so damned repetitive. And Clark not being himself, happily going at it with Maxima seemed all too familiar as well--we've seen very similar scenes in the past between Clark and other girls when he was under the influence of red-k or some other control. Completely repetitive.
And yet again, instead of developing people/relationships/stories properly, Smallville just outright "tells" us what we are meant to think/believe. Maxima saying that Lois and Clark have an obvious connection/attraction to each other was just another example of this. Apparently Lois needs to be told about her feelings, as does Clark. Apparently so do we. Clearly they are destined to be together, I mean this random alien nobody slut so much as said so, right? lol
And Tess aka "She-Lex", really, could they make her any more like Lex? That kickboxing/training thing in the mansion is just like Lex fencing. And didn't "Super Lana" train/box in that same room too? Damn is Smallville ever repetitive. I think the part I hated most was when She-Lex unnecessarily threatened that scientist dude or whoever he was. First, the threat was uncalled for (ie. stupid writing), and second where does she come off making threats like that anyway? Who exactly is she? That man could have easily killed her with his bare hands right then and there if he wanted to.:lol: And yet she continuously comes off so unwaveringly confident and sure of herself, so very "Lex". It's so forced, and so annoying.
Plastique is the only episode I've enjoyed this season, the rest are total throwaways for me. This has all the makings of easily being the worst season yet. Very disappointing. Al & Miles leaving/getting the boot clearly wasn't enough--they should have replaced the whole lot of them.

The episode sucked Clark was lying,Chloe was lying.It was a bunch of BS.Atleast be honest which those two have never been good at.Clark always agrees with whatever she says cause he thinks that's what she wants.And I could maybe having Chloe move with somebody else if it wasn't Jimmy.There relationship has never worked and after 2 years she's still not in love with him.And she never will be.They are stuffing Chimmy down our throats and I'm tired of it.Jimmy should be gone not Kara.I don't like how they are writing Chloe this season at all.Chloe and Jimmy don't get married and they break up mid season.

That would cost me like 1 million Republic Credits per minute. And I don't even want to know what they'd do to me if I couldn't pay. Either take my soul or turn me into a frog.
I think the perfect solution would be me calling, her picking up, and me talking as fast as possible then hanging up after 3 seconds.

And then hang up. Sigh.. we would be perfect. Me with my incredible good looks and she with her incredible.. everything. I could teach her to hate the Spice Girls, she can teach me to throw buildings on people I don't like. We'd be the best combination since a coca-cola and a straw.

FallenOne, I really enjoyed reading your commentary on this episode. :lol: Your spin and perspective was witty, positive, and refreshing. After reading it, my love for Smallville returned (because it was starting to slip away) and I was forced to reanalyze my overall view of Smallville Season 8 up to now. So, I have decided to watch the episode again and I will keep a more open mind with the rest of the season. :p Thanks!

I really liked it and while I wouldn't vote it as the best it is yet another in a row of episodes that I've liked this season.
I LOVED the first half of season six and disliked the second half, so I hope that isn't what happens again this year. So far, so good though and I think there are some reasons as to why Chimmy won't work. Jimmy goes into offense mode too much and Chloe goes into defense mode to much.
Nonetheless I liked that they had that hug in the hospital to sort of smooth over things. Not totally, but it was nice.
I think the Fever letter could have been handled with less apathy, but I did like the playfullness between them.
It was a good episode in all, not great, but good.
I've seen some threads directing people to vote one for shipper reasons and I've seen threads directing people to vote ten for shipper reasons, but in all honesty this episode wasn't even close being a one and it wasn't a ten either.
There is room for opinion however but I'd say this feel in between those numbers.

Instinct
* Likes wearing trashy clothes.
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
* Is a >>total<< FREAK
* Is PERFECT for Cedric
I.. I.. uh.. continuing..
* A kiss to die for
* Extremely jealous
* Pyschotic smile
* A stalker
* Is a >>total<< FREAK
* Is PERFECT for Cedric
* Possessive
* Homicidal

Great review! I agree with a lot of it, too.

Thank you Snowbird, Stenochick, Alex, Lis, Pat, and Jade. Glad you guys enjoy my little openings too. I've picked on poor Al/Miles but I'll mix it up in the coming weeks. My favorite one had to be the one from Odyssey. I was egging for a way to combine the Planet of the Apes with Smallville, and they were the perfect people to give me inspiration.
:p Thanks!
Thats perhaps the biggest compliment I have could have received, thank you for that. I would love for you and a lot of others who feel their love for Smallville slipping away to give it another try. I follow the spoilers and know most of everything up until the 11th episode. MsCali4Eva, if there was ever a season you shouldn't give up on- its this one. I can't say that enough.
Thanks again.:D:D

Cedric, your post was hilarious! :D
I truly enjoyed reading it :).
...
Clearly they are destined to be together, I mean this random alien nobody slut so much as said so, right? lol
But we already know there's something between Lois and Clark; There's been 70 years! 70 years, I tell you! The mythos showed us during all that time that they beloooong together! That's enough don't ya think? :\
Now, all we want to do is watch Clois mackin on each other :p. That's all we want! I can't wait! I think they are totally HOT together! I even wrote a fanfic about it (in the Adult section :p) :lol: I mean seriously, ED and TW really look like they could have somethin going on.. They are both physically beautiful, well-built, she's even quite tall so she lines up nicely next to him. They are the perfect match! I say bring on the HOTClois!

I gave this episode a 9. I liked it a lot, and I loved their version of Maxima, but I would have liked to have seen more action. In Superman TAS, Maxima caused a lot of problems, and Superman had to do a lot of fighting. I would have liked to have seen Clark and Maxima fighting in Metropolis. I did like how the site of Lois pulled Clark out from under Maxima's spell. I think both Clark and Lois found out something about how they feel towards each other in this episode. In my opinion, that was monumental.

although i liked last week this was a better episode. it moved the story along.
I gave it an "8". I loved the Clois, of course, and Chloe/Tess was pretty awesome.
But I thought they went over-the-top with Maxima. They needed to tone down the intense close-ups of tongue during the kisses. That was just... pointless. Also, they dropped the ball with the whole "Ollie sends Tess a dress" bit... why wasn't he at the Ace of Clubs? It makes no sense.

i gave it a 6, because i generally get a 'meh' feeling after everytime i watch it
the most exciting part of the episode was when i heard scratching at the door... i was seriously exstatic to see Shelby, and even have him feeding him... this isnt even a joke... i found barely anything else in the episode made me flicker at all
the return of the fever letter was something i was dubious about but i was hopeful... but like everything else in the episode it sort of fell flat and useless in terms of actually doing anything with the Chlark... it didnt put it to bed for me and there was certainly a lack of chlark angsty tension to make it a decent tease too
the clois stuff is 50/50... the scene where she catches him i liked... because he chased after her, and it did sort of imply that he doesn't want her to think of him like that. but the conversations afterwards were missing something... when i watch clois, i wanna be grinning from ear to ear, and it didnt make me grin it made me roll my eyes. did love the little sex tease at the beginning of the eppie though, that was classic clois
the jump from jimmy finding the letter, to him deciding to flirt with another women to make it better... well it seemed a bit ropey, far fetched and convinient to me... they just wanted maxima to be more involved with other characters storylines... but i thought it would have been more interesting if Davis were involved... maybe have her go after him, realise he isnt the kryptonian she is looking for, but have him not be affected by her kiss, and for her to say some hint about the fact he's not normal
two best things in the episode. 1. chloe tess interaction was very well written and acted. the actresses definately worked well together, sparking off each other. 2. the little message at the end which i'm assuming was from Lex... gave me a bit of a 'oooh' moment :p

I just got a chance to watch this episode and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't award-winningly good, but I found it more entertaining that previous episodes, with the exception of the season opener.
While it is nice that we get more Lois and Clark, I will never like the idea of Lois falling for Clark first. But whatever, at least there's no Lana dribble to put up with.

To me, it wasnīt a good episode! The ending was rushed and the story with Maxima seemed like a waste story wise. I donīt know how to put it but this was one of the worst episodes thus far!

Gave it a ten. I liked the character of Maxima a LOT more than I thought I would. Great continuity (Lana's necklace, Dr. Groll, Fever Letter, and SHELBY!). And of course, we get closer to the realization that Clark and Lois may have feelings for each other.
P.S. Is it just me or is the black suit that Clark wears in some scenes one of the best outfits he has ever worn on the history of the show?

I completely agree! He look SO good! :D
This episode could've been so much better, and I thought it would be. While I was excited to see Maxima, the scenes featuring the actress were very campy, and I think they should've gone with someone better. 6/10

It felt like it was fast fowarded ..... I agree with you!
Of the four episodes shown thus far, this is the worst in terms of story and all. If Maxima is to come back, get rid of the girl who they had portray her this time.

10. This was the best episode this season. While I loved the premiere, it didn't flow that well for me compared to this one.
This was one of the best put together episodes out of the whole series.
Maxima was done perfectly. The sub plots wove into the story line perfectly.
WoW. Good to know they can still do it.
This is killing me. Four episodes in and they haven't bored me yet.

oh wow, when I read the description for this episode I was like "oh no, it's going to be just like "Hypnotic" ", which I hated btw. but it actually wasn't that bad. jimmy was kind of annoying though...

Setting aside the glaring absence of any mention of Gabe - while it might make sense for Chloe to ask Clark to give her away (wouldn't he be more likely to be Man of Honour?), all it'll take for CK to throw a wrench in it is if Lana were to text him on the day of the wedding. "Sorry, Chloe. I'll explain later. Lana's in trouble." Or, how about Red-K Clark making a scene?!
She should have made him fill out an application first.

YEH where is gabe Sullivan come to think about it
This episode still isn't my favorite, but it's grown on me. I do think it could've been better than it was, so hopefully whenever Maxima returns the actress is more solid in the role.
I loved the episode. I thought Maxima was awesome. Maxima does not have Kryptonian powers. She has super strength and I believe she can fly.

I loved the episode, more or less because of Maxima, of course. What a hottie that is !
But I also applaud the crystal being back in the story, and now we see the mysterious X. Who could it be ?! :P
Cool episode, nice Clois moments also. Oh yeah : CLARK WEARS RED JACKET IN ONLY ONE SCENE ! YEEEEEAH ! (did you noticed his black jacket ? awesome! )

Bah. I didn't care much for this episode at all. I mean, it wasn't horrible, but it had so many elements that I didn't care for very much. Jimmy came off as a whiny, jealous baby when confronted with a letter that Chloe had written six years ago, and even bringing the "Fever" letter up the way they did irked me, since it seemed to shove any possibility of future Chlark romance out of the picture. Maxima was okay as far as villains go, and I'm always up for an appearance of more canon DC characters, and sure, it brought out some interesting Clois moments... but it wasn't one of my favorite Smallville plots. They could've done better with this one, in my humble opinion.

Definitely one of the more enjoyable episodes Smallville has produced. Maxima was intense, to say the least :3. I like how she slowly made her way to her 'kryptonian' and how her and Lois we're ready to rumble in jungle! Fun ep I liked (oh and yeah Jimmy was a smidge annoying but thats wholsome Olsen for ya lols)

Really liked this ep as it had the neccessary soryline for clark to start moving on and stop whinning about lana. Like the way that Lois and CLark relationship is growing and that she seems to be strating to have feelings for him. Next Ep looks like its going to be good.
