HBO has announced that Skins-esque teen drama Euphoria has been given a 10-episode series order.
Based on the Israeli series of the same name, with Sam Levinson (Wizard of Lies) adapting the series for American television, Euphoria follows a group of teenagers navigating drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship.
The series stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney.
Euphoria joins a drama slate for HBO that includes Game of Thrones, Westworld, Big Little Lies, Succession, and True Detective. It’s the first teen-led drama in the cabler’s history and joins a recent wave of edgier teen fare that includes Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, and The End of the F***ing World.
Will you be watching? Are you surprised to see HBO doing a teen drama? Would you like to see more premium cable shows targeting younger viewers?
Euphoria. Coming soon.
